@@kathyo9420, I'm over 55 and still doing the coloring because I really haven't been coloring that long and, to be honest, with fine hair, I appreciate the texture that coloring gives my hair. I love the first curveball!! The darker color really looks so good on her! Love the wave too, even if her hair doesn’t get quite that much volume. The second curveball was more of a mix for me. I think in profile the style looks great, but don’t like it as much from the front. That may be just the limitations of photoshop, not sure. And I definitely like the darker color over even the lighter with more dimension in the secon curveball. Another great video Justin.
exactly same even about 2nd, good profile but probably too much bangs/fringe over forehead. and the colour still leaves the pretty lady a little washed out (too monochrome with her skin). first very good! What a pretty face to begin with thanks for sharing your scenario with us all! :)
LOVE the first curve ball! Having a darker tone and more volume absolutely enhances her skin tone and makes her look younger. I have been using Lume for over a year with good success!
I love the darker, more voluminous hair! I was already thinking Kathleen looks pretty great as is, then you chopped her ends, yes…better, then beveled the ends, better still..but as soon as you showed that darker option, that sold it for me! I love the short option too. Perhaps take advantage of the length and do the dark, wavy style now and in future, cut it short? Nice to have so many great options.
I love your idea! That would be the perfect approach in my opinion! Start with a longer go dark, then transition to the shorter hair! It’s very easy to go, shorter, quite a bit more challenging to get it longer! Lol. I appreciate the feedback.

@@wildflowerb2879 great question. It’s likely not just a cut but more a combination of the cut, styling product and styling approach that will create the volume. I’ve done a couple videos on how to make hair look thicker etc. if you haven’t seen them yet, I think you’d find some value from them for sure.
Loved the first curveball with the darker shade and waves! It looked playful and it really livened up her complexion. I’m not a huge fan of the second curveball’s color, but I liked the cut/style very much. Dionna talking about the “whole body”, LMAO. So cute! 😂
The short hair is cute. I got over my fear of short hair this year. It was the best decision this 50 year old woman made about hair. I look younger and have a lot more fun styling it. I feel more feminine, sassy, and confident.
Love love the brown color with waves tucked behind one ear. The color brought life and youth to her face. Her current color makes her look older. Great video! 👏
Wow, the changes you made certainly made a difference, especially when you added volume at the top, that really changed her whole look. I loved the curveball too, especially the first one - she'd definitely suit the darker colour. I'd love to know what she eventually decides to do. Thanks again for all the tips, Justin!
Wow, that first curve ball wave and color! Perfect color and great style for her. The style seems like it would be flexible for different wave/volume amounts and still be beautiful. Well done! She looks beautiful in the shorter style as well, but wonder if the color of the first curveball would make that shorter cut/style even better.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you liked them. And yes, I think maybe the darker version on shorter hair could look amazing. You definitely onto something there.
I love the color on curve ball #1, but was already saying to myself "I doubt she can get that much volume" when you said the exact same thing. 😂😂. If she could achieve even half that volume, I think the darker color and the wave is a winner!!!
LOL! Don’t worry, it was the first thing I thought when I started Photoshopping that look as well. But she really wouldn’t need that much volume, just a little bit more and it would be spot on. I love the fact that you were thinking the same thing!
Love the first curveball! The cut & color really looks great on Kathleen. Would love to know what she has chosen to do. Btw I discovered Lume a few months ago and I love it!! It really helps with this unbearable heat & humidity.
The first color option looked terrific but if she's 60 yrs old, wouldn't she end up with a lot of upkeep, going back and forth to the salon every 2 to 3 weeks to deal with grey roots? All the women I know in their 50s or 60s who have naturally darker hair have eventually moved towards lighter color specifically because they say the grey shows up too quickly/too much with dark hair and they tire of having to deal with that continuously Could you pls discuss if "bronde" - a fusion of brown and blonde - is a realistic option for those with greying hair or is that look just too difficult to achieve?
Absolutely love the first curveball! That color and wave is fantastic! Looks so youthful! I get it about the volume on what appears to be fine hair because that’s me but wave can definitely get more volume. Product is also key to getting volume and wave.
I'd love to see more suggestions about future haircuts for people to aim towards.. In this case, Kathleen could have been prompted to keep growing her hair out to a longer length, with the layers and hair color. A lot of us who are growing out our hair need that kind of direction, rather than always suggestion for going shorter. Love your videos though!
I love the first curveball! It was fun and gorgeous! If I could get any sort of wave or body I would do the exact same thing. I did not like the second curveball. Thank you for your fabulous videos!
Curve ball 1, to me, makes her look older, plus I think is too dark. Curve ball 2, is much better, but to short. The bangs look great but how bout a little more length and height? As far as color, I think between the real light and dark would look really good for her. Glad to see you’re enjoying your new lifestyle, looks like you’re loving it!!
I appreciate the honesty and your thoughts! I figured these two curveballs would definitely divide some folks, so I doubt you’re alone in those opinions. I agree with the idea of a bit more volume in the bangs on the shorter style, it’s hard to create that field through Photoshop but I do agree that it could look better in real life. thank you for your feedback on this. And we are loving van life, but there are definitely ups and downs!
I love the color and the shine. Very pretty. The short hair may be edgy but it makes her look older. It reveals all her aging areas like her neck, around the ears etc. It did however cove one aging area-her forehead. You mentioned the length of her neck...when you shortened her bob cut it made her neck look short. The first hair style you showed on the young girl (longer bob with shape and some long to short bangs) I would like to see that on her. That would help to cover all the aging areas and give her a sleek, elegant look covering the edge of the eyes, the forehead, the ear area, the neck from the side views as well as lengthen the appearance of her neck giving her an overall more youth look. What do you think?
Wow! When I saw the first suggestion the dark with curls, I said out loud WOW!!! The short is fun -but no lol. It’s fun, but then you have to grow it all out again through all those awkward stages to get back to that first incredibly beautiful suggestion ❤
I love the warmer , a little darker color on her! I like the short cut on her and the wavy one too. Whatever she decides, I really think she should go darker! She could add highlights too. I hope she takes your advice and that she will share the results.
Justin, you knocked it out of the ballpark with the wavy brown style, just WOW, she looks gorgeous! That said, even a lighter color with somewhat less volume attained would be beautiful on her. The first lightly layered bob was a big improvement; the super short cut was a stylish, fun look but I'd save that one for when she's older and done with younger, longer hair!
I LOVE the longer curve ball with the darker color and curl. It lights up her skin and her eyes. The short one is good as well and would be a great option if she wants to go shorter. I think it would look better in the darker color as well.
The short cut just aged her 15 years. Makes her look like a person to ignore, but curveball 1 makes her look 10 years younger, vibrant, someone to notice.
I agree with the dark curveball option. The dark color looks good with her skin tone and it looks like it’s versatile enough that she can wear it straight or wavy, which is what she wanted.
Part of what makes a woman look more youthful is just putting a little effort into our appearance. I see women at church with short, absolutely flat, wash-and-wear hair and no makeup. They look SO MUCH OLDER than they need to! Blow-drying hair for some volume, and putting in waves really make this client look so young. Definitely keep the length for the beautiful, contemporary waves and also for options!
I love the wavy darker hair. I’d put a few highlights around the face. It helps get adjusted to a darker color. Plus I love highlights around the face.
I tend to like sleek hair. I think she looks nice in short hairdo. In the end it will be what she is most comfortable with. You gave her some nice choices.
Absolutely! I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to check them out, but I’ve done a few videos with step-by-step tutorials on how to add wave to your hair with a curling iron, flat, irons, etc. If you haven’t checked them out yet, I think you would really like them.
The short cut looked cute from the side, but straight in I thought it made her look older than she is. Loved layering the bob though and toning down the color, she looked fabulous.
Omg, the curveball is fantastic! She looks gorgeous. Each of the subtle changes made such a difference. Now I’m thinking about what I can do to update my look. Love your channel and the women who submit their photos. Justin, your recommendations are ALWAYS eye opening. The women look beautiful to start and then you find a way to enhance their looks. ✨💖✨
Hi Justin, good advice, all around! I like the darker version for her. If she wants to keep her light hair, I think just some dark low lights may work. The shortcut looks good, but perhaps a bit too short? Definitely needed layers. I think all one length bobs can work but only with super shiny healthy hair that is about chin length. Perhaps for a younger woman to really rock it.
Love the last cut and colour! I am not a fan of darkening hair in the 60's when the hair naturally wants to lighten. I think it makes the skin look sallow....
I think making the light blond cooler, adding more contrast would help. As far as the cut I think adding some thinning layers at the bottom and bringing it to the chin would help lift the heaviness and give movement to the layers.
I tend to like longer hair, but I gotta say the last style, the shortest one, looks great on her. She has a fantastic smile, and the short hair with side swept bangs really puts the focus on her smile.
There is a product called catwalk, it's a root lift product and with my very thick coarse hair, it lifts my hair and gives me great volume. which I really don't need help with, but it would really help her get the volume to pull off that brown hairstyle. Justin that's a fantastic look on her!
I liked both the curveballs but LOVED the first one! I wonder how she would style that one? I have some natural wave in my hair and wonder if I could get that look too. Great video!
Would really love a follow-up note about these and whether the subjects chose your ideas. A photo would be a bonus! I scrolled through some of the comments and majority seems for #1. As a woman in her 60's I agree that short hair is somewhat of a caricature for us. However, IMO she looked great with#2, especially the color. The dark color of #1 I felt added some age. Just me though.
I love both curveball styles, and prefer the darker color - it warmed Kathleen's face and eyes SO much. Of course, the most important thing is what Kathleen will feel best in. Now I have a personal styling question and hoping this might help others in my situation. I have fine, used to be wavy (thanks menopause), one length, chin length bob right now. I prefer to wash my hair at night and let it air dry because I don't have the energy to dry and style it just to sleep on it and wake up with a mop. What can I do at night (product? rough dry?), and what can I do in the morning (more product? straight iron/curl/depends?) to look put together that doesn't take a lot of time. If there's product in it from the night before, do I need more product in the morning? It depends on the product and style doesn't it? My concern is heat protection, not so much hold. I swear, I feel like styling it unwashed in the mornings takes just as long as if I were to wash it, dry it, then finishing with round brush, straight iron, or curl. 🙄 And then after 20 minutes of styling I end up pulling it up anyway 🤦♀ Thank you and wishing you, Dionna, and the pups a happy Thanksgiving week and holiday on the road. 🦃🍁⚽🏆 p.s. also, so excited to try Lume, thanks for the discount link. I got unscented stick, lavender sage gel, sandalwood whatever shower gel, and the wipes are the wipe scent. 😜
My current hair cut/style is very similar however, my hair is incredibly fine and not thick and, like Cinderella, any curl...no matter what...disappears within hours! Maybe I need a consultation service 😊! I keep watching to see if I can put myself in that seat of potential change...
I ABSOLUTELY love the wavy darker hair. It's WONderful! Much, much better. She looks awesome. She just might need a perm of some kind of the use of, weird, yes, I know ... hot rollers
I totally agree with you. I like the darker color on her but that is maintenance she may not want. Do me next, do me! My husband asked me to grow out my hair and I have a short Bob. The short cut just aged her 15 years. Makes her look like a person to ignore, but curveball 1 makes her look 10 years younger, vibrant, someone to notice.
I thought the short style was terrible on her, but the wavy dark style looked very good.
I love Lume!!! Seriously. A life changer
If you have kids that play sports, this is a MUST HAVE!
I agree with the dark curveball option. The dark color looks good with her skin tone and it looks like it’s versatile enough that she can wear it straight or wavy, which is what she wanted.
Wow, that wavy, full, and darker color style looks amazing on her! I’d stay a bit lighter than that picture, but the style is gorgeous on her!
I too like the darker wavy style on her.
I love the wavy darker hair. I’d put a few highlights around the face. It helps get adjusted to a darker color. Plus I love highlights around the face.
Wow, that darker color and wave is lovely!
I tend to like sleek hair. I think she looks nice in short hairdo. In the end it will be what she is most comfortable with. You gave her some nice choices.
I love the wavy style. It would be helpful to have some styling tips - blow dry, curling iron or???! Thanks.
Wow! Love the wavy and color! The short cut is a sharp look button I love the the wave and color.
Love the darker, wavy style for Kathy! I thought it removed a few years, was fun and edgy, without being too trendy for a mature woman.
I agree with everyone, the 1st one is great!! It makes her look 10 years younger!!
Love the last cut and colour! I am not a fan of darkening hair in the 60's when the hair naturally wants to lighten. I think it makes the skin look sallow....
Thank dark color looks amazing on Kathleen! She looks so much younger.
Love the darker waves for her. So pretty and youthful.
I think making the light blond cooler, adding more contrast would help. As far as the cut I think adding some thinning layers at the bottom and bringing it to the chin would help lift the heaviness and give movement to the layers.
I just knew you were going to say add depth!!!…still watching, but had to say, I paid attention in class🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am a fan of curveball one! It gives her the styling options she wants, and the color truly rejuvenates her!
I tend to like longer hair, but I gotta say the last style, the shortest one, looks great on her. She has a fantastic smile, and the short hair with side swept bangs really puts the focus on her smile.
Love love love the darker color and waves. !!
Wow what a difference going to the brown! I think the bob with brown/highlights makes her look younger.
Love the darker wavy hair. Great suggestions!
Wow! I love the darker color with waves! I wish I could figure out how to use all of those tools!
There is a product called catwalk, it's a root lift product and with my very thick coarse hair, it lifts my hair and gives me great volume. which I really don't need help with, but it would really help her get the volume to pull off that brown hairstyle. Justin that's a fantastic look on her!
I LOVE the dark volume wavy look on her. I thinks she looks younger and fresh!
p.s. also, so excited to try Lume, thanks for the discount link. I got unscented stick, lavender sage gel, sandalwood whatever shower gel, and the wipes are the wipe scent. 😜
Both curveballs are better than the bob in my opinion, but I LOVE the first one with the volume and beautiful color--it's a complete game changer! 👏👏👏
The end style looked awesome on her.good job...
My current hair cut/style is very similar however, my hair is incredibly fine and not thick and, like Cinderella, any curl...no matter what...disappears within hours! Maybe I need a consultation service 😊! I keep watching to see if I can put myself in that seat of potential change...
Justin I love the dark color hair makes her looks so much younger! Very nice love the waves.
Very nice options. I love the short cut and the wavy one.
You and your wife are so fun and funny together. I like all the styles. She could start with the wavy and work up to the short and sassy. 🙂
Love the darker colour and waves. Love the channel Justin!
Such awesome suggestions, Justin. I personally LOVE the style giving her more volume. Great job!!
I’ve been wanting to try Lume, thanks for the discount. I like the darker, fluffier look on her. It takes 10 years off.
I ABSOLUTELY love the wavy darker hair. It's WONderful! Much, much better. She looks awesome. She just might need a perm of some kind of the use of, weird, yes, I know ... hot rollers
Justin, have you ever used the re-face app or face swap and do you think those are a decent way to try new hairstyles before cutting and coloring?
I totally agree with you. I like the darker color on her but that is maintenance she may not want.
Do me next, do me! My husband asked me to grow out my hair and I have a short Bob. I like it OK, but it don't know how to style it. I am also lazy and prefer something quick and easy to do. I can tell you more but not sure about the process of getting your help. TIA! Love your videos and of course the scenery.
Love the first curveball! Color, cut the whole look!
I like either cut and style in the curve balls, but color number 1 was the best suggestion of all!
Good color choice...tease the crown on the wavy style. Hot rollers would work..e...z.
Thankyou Justin, for your tips 😊I loved the short hairstyle on this lady, it brought out her great bone structure.
I liked the Bob with the top layers and tapered bottom. But, I’m a fan of minimal style time
