This was a great video! Love you both! I will take some of these tips for my almost 50 year old head, but also for my son. He tries to style his longer hair, but he has a lot of heavy hair that doesn't do exactly what he wants and probably uses too much product (cue "Steve" from Stranger Things - that's my son's hair goal!). Maybe he needs to blow dry it into a C shape and use mousse? Do you ever do men's hair tutorials, Justin?

I’m a functional nutritionist and use blood work with all my clients, you don’t want to suggest people taking iron if they don’t need it, it’s highly oxidative and most of the time the body is sequestering their iron due to an infection/inflammation or digestive issue. Low iron is rarely the problem it’s that we can’t use the iron we’re consuming.

Actually many Dr will say that low iron or/and low vitD is often the problem when it comes to women and hair or fatigue. I have seen many Dermatologists say that, and the few Dr I have had over the years told me the same thing (I am prone to anemia due to health reasons so I have been followedfor a while for this...). Heme iron (iron "reserved") is only found in red meat and seafood and more and more women highly reduced their red meat consumption or turn vegan. Plus if you have heavy periods that makes things worse for iron, if you work out a lot that also make things worse for iron. For vit D if you're obese that make things worse and if you have dark skin and do not live in a heavy sunny area that make things worse as well. And obviously eating a crappy diet overall also makes things worse. Most women combine many of those things without knowing it could cause problems.
But as you said no matter what you should get a blood test first to make sure and to know how much supplements you need when needed, because too much iron or vitD is not good at all and can cause many health problems.
Plus stress can also be the only reason for hair loss that can't be fixed by any supplements or medecine and obviously other health issues can also cause iron deficiency and this has to be found out with a Dr.

I was losing my hair severely on top in my late 50s. Started using womens Rogaine 2 times a day without fail and got more hair than I’d had in my 20s. Took about 6 months to know if it was working. Did that for 10 years, then switched to men’s Rogaine, Amazon Kirkland brand. I use it after I wash it then put products in and dry and style and there’s no trace it’s there. If I put it in dry hair with products in my hair it’s a greasy mess. It’s been working perfectly for me for more than 15 years.

Honestly sharing though, what were all your negative side effects when you were using women's 2percent ? Please share so we know & learn from someone that experienced actual topical both 2& later 5 percent. I've heard after some time the 2 seems to stop working n a person has to go up to 5..or you can begin with 5,but what bad things did you and do you still see, feel, notice as the onset from using monoxidil ( 4 life now) thanks a million 🥰 we appreciate your truth & help

    • @tc7486

@@Ginsuegirl the only down side to using womens is you have to use it twice a day. For me both men’s and women’s worked perfectly. I like the men’s simply because it’s a once a day use. About a year ago I got slack about using every day and noticed my hair was thinning too much. So started making sure not to miss more than a day or two a week and it all came back. I will never be able to stop using. But that’s OK. Whatever it takes to have hair that I’m not embarrased about. There have been no physical or otherwise side affects. None. And no difference in the way any brand or strength works. If used as directed. It’s been a life saver for me. Changed my life forever.

Love this collaboration! Losing hair is very hard mentally. I suffered but I was able, thanks to God, to reverse it big time. Red light will do little to nothing for 99.9% of people. We have super aggressive hair loss in our family, both of my sisters got their hair super thin by age 50, so thin that they couldn't leave the house without Toppik, and even that looked awkward at some point because barely any hair was there to hold the fibers. I started experiencing thinning at the age of 33. I tried iRestore for 9 months, but it didn't work. Then I tried Hairmax and of course... it did not work. I then tried Minoxidil. At first, my hair started to shed like crazy. I understood it's normal and that these hairs would be replaced with stronger ones afterwards, so I kept going. It was the case, and my hair became thicker, but even after 1.5 years, it was still very thin overall, although not as bad as in the beginning. My colleague at work mentioned that her mother used Minoxidil but combined it with microneedling. She swore that it made her hair so thick and places with bald spots filled in after few months. I had nothing to lose and gave it a chance. I strongly believe that hair loss is related to blood circulation (unless you have a vitamin deficiency), which, in turn, due to low supply, leads to hair loss. I used a derma roller + Minoxidil and kept losing hair. Once I switched to a high-quality pen, within two months, my shedding stopped, and my hair started to get thicker by month 4 with a lot of new growth. I have followed this protocol for 5 years and haven't lost ground. One of my sisters followed the same protocol, and she also gained her hair back. If it works for me, it should work for everyone (or at least most people). Save your money and do not waste it on red light machines, vitamins, and other stuff that will just make a hole in your pocket.

I started oral Minoxidil 6 months ago. Do not be surprised of your hair actually falls out/thins more the first few months. This happened to me and I almost stopped taking it. At the 3 month mark there was a noticeable growth, which has continued. At my 6 month check my dermatologist was very impressed with the growth. Wish she had told me what to expect from initial loss. I also had more of a post-menopausal male pattern loss. I'm also experiencing what the gentleman stressed regarding hard to style hair. Knowing the hair is growing and will take time helps me with frustration.

I stumbled upon these videos and have been watching a few that looking interesting.
I did want to make a comment on this one. 12 years ago when I lost all my hair to chemo. I absolutely hated being bald. Like other women I also lost my eye lashes and I could not stand looking at myself in the mirror.
I hated seeing all the beautiful hair commercials when I had the tv on. H.A.T.E.D. It took me five years for my hair to grow back to 'normal'.
I do care about my hair and how I look, but I also always remember those days 12 years ago. I try never to forget how I felt and how others probably feel eveyday. I think finding a stylist who can help you get the most with what you have is the best solution. I also stay away from the vapid beauty vlogs and all that are completely superficial. I appreciate the approach here. Thank you

Such great content! My hair suffered greatly during menopause that was immediate onset due to a radical hysterectomy …that paired with the estrogen suppressant drug Tamoxifen I took for FIVE YEARS for breast cancer… my hair was HORRIBLE! Thin…brittle…falling out…it’s never been the same. Though it started growing again, the texture - though fine - is coarse and wiry. As you both discussed there are so many factors in how our hair responds to stressors. . Great video….ive been a longtime fan of Angie and recently found you Justin in my search for information on cuts appropriate for thin fine hair. Win win!!

Hair texture is drier but no shedding. Love the idea of the laser headband. My haircutter wants to keep my hair mid length blunt cut all one length. I had allot of fine hair. After covid...lost allot but also my new doctor ran a test, subclinical hyperthyroidism and low b levels. I now take thyroid med and using iodine with multi mega b. Big difference but only 3 months. . My hair is like yours Justin...different lengths due to minoxidil. Thanks so much for this video.I hope my hair grows all together.

Love Angie! It’s been 30 years since I’ve had my hair professionally cut/trimmed! I told the stylist to do whatever she wanted with my hip length wavy hair. I’ll be 70 next year and was ready for something different. She gave me three long layers and my waves turned into soft bouncy curls! What a difference this cut made in the texture and health of my hair! it also added so much crazy volume, almost too much! The layers flatter my narrow face. It’s a little bit more difficult putting it up, but it’s so easy leaving it down. I let it dry naturally and use a diffuser or about 60 seconds. I blow dry my wispy bangs with a fat round brush so they frame my face. I use a one and a half inch at the crown and near the part which give me lift in those areas. For touchup I use a heated grabby round brush. So simple! I think the cut and style would be Justin approved! 😁

Twice in my adult life I've had major hair loss due to prescribed medication. The first time was from an antidepressant. The second time was from thyroid medication. I had to wean myself off of each medication, since the doctor didn't "believe" that was what was causing the hair loss. FINALLY, through a high protein/high fat diet combined with numerous supplements as well as diluted rosemary oil to the scalp, my hair is ever-so-slowly growing back. It's taken tons of research and patience, but it CAN happen. (Not everyone on thyroid medication can wean themselves off, however! My particular case was unique.)

Great and informative video! One of the things you didn’t address is hair shedding, specifically from Semaglutide. Before any haters start, I took it for health reasons. I was 70 pounds overweight, and, between my the results of my bloodwork and my family history of cardiovascular disease, I had to do something. I lost the weight, but it took a toll on my hair. Whenever I brushed my hair, I swear I saw the hair equivalent of a small dog in my brush. Since I’m now off the meds, the shedding has stopped, but I’m left with much thinner hair. Fortunately, my hair was very thick to begin with, but it’s depressing to see my ponytail half as thick as it used to be. I know that weight loss in general can cause hair loss/shedding, but it can’t be a coincidence that, once I stopped the Semaglutide, the shedding stopped as well. I am much healthier, my bloodwork is in the normal range, and my doctor has taken me off of two meds! I’m going to implement your suggestions (except for the $$$$ laser) in hopes that the hair I shedded during this process comes back.

Here’s what I noticed when I was biotin years ago. Angie is right it only made my hair grow longer it did not give me new growth. The only one benefiting from me taking biotin was my hairdresser bc I had to cut my hair more frequently.

Adore you both! I really wish Angie would consider getting a collarbone length haircut! Angie, you’re a lovely woman, but that hair needs a serious update! It does you no favors. You would look absolutely stunning with collarbone length hair. I think it would be stunning.

Totally loved this discussion about hair loss. My mom has loss of hair but she’s 82. We’ll have to do our research. This was a wonderful content creators/ team effort and very informative. I went to Costco to look at the product from Costco and it says women not to use it and it states the reasons. I might look into it though and of course, I’ll do my research. @AngieHotandFlashy Costco sells Oribe but online. I’m not sure what line you use, but I did see the one I use. I’ll be comparing costs. ✨✨🌼🌼👏👏

Hello both! ❤ What a nice collaboration between you two. I am 52, and my hair was thin all my life, but I used to have a lot of hair. Now, it's only half left what it used to be. I don't have any grey hair and I do not dye them either. I do not use any blow dryers or other heat gadgets. I just wash my hair twice a week and let them dry naturally. I used rosmarin oil for 6 months, massaging it into my scalp twice a day, but no results from that. Any extra massage or brushing of my hair makes them brake even more. I really do not know what to do anymore. When I wash my hair, I always found half lenght than my hair hair strains in my sink. My hairdresser does not understand what is happening with my hair. Well, she has full and curly hair, so I don't expect her to understand. I will look into this red light device. No stress involved here either. I sleep on my silk pillow with my silk scrunchy in my braid. I am taking separate supplements, but I don't think that biotin is in it. I will try that too.Any other advice? Thank you in advance! ❤❤❤

Thank you for the information. If you want to speak of the science you should also mention that Minoxidil grows hair until you stop using it and then you lose what you grew in, so you need to use it for life, this is what the science says! The other thing is there IS a big difference between anything you take topically vs orally which needs to be processed through your liver, especially important for people taking other medications.

very true! I had not thought about this as I take oral minoxidil and use it topically EVERY night, even back in my 40's not even losing any hair back then! ( I also take another prescription oral drug to grow hair!!!!! I did tons of research to find this! But my doctor started me on the absolute lowest dosage! She ups it little by little every 6 months, tho. So I don't know if it's working or not! ) But God taught me all too well about major hair loss (excluding the kind chemo brings on). My hair falls out so much that I can stand still in the sunlight and watch each hair fall onto my shoulders, floor, countertops, clothing I'm wearing, my food, ahhhh, what a B....! I brush my hair every which way before showering each night, the clean brush becomes filled within a few swipes! And in the shower, my drain becomes totally full! I lose so much more as I wash it twice with only purple shampoo since it's all white now. And it gets so yellow, I have to use 3 different brands and price points. Otherwise, it turns yellow every day. Tho I don't wash my hair every day, this is for the most part my routine. And if anyone has thin hair and uses conditioners, well all I can say is, "Bless your heart." Even as a young girl, I knew the difference between the feel of conditioner vs. no conditioner! Tho I do use a hair mask once or twice a week. But the nights I do not wash my hair and use Minoxidil... it never ever makes my hair get greasy! Only smart women also know to spray it on with the finest mister you can buy! I have a cheap one and it is incredibly great! I part my hair and spray in rows where I need more hair as one side is thicker than the other! But I have been blessed with a head full of gorgeous white hair. And the makeup color I wear on lips, cheeks, and a tad on eyes, well, I get stopped several times every day that I go out! Several times per day! This tells me I found the secret to looking my best and I'm only 64! I know I could look 10-15 years younger if I was a blonde. I know this, but I'm too gorgeously sleek and beautiful to ever go back to a dark brunette! Why would I? My husband LOVES MY LOOK AND SWEARS I'VE NEVER LOOKED PRETTIER! So, I CARE about what other women think, too, and it's fun to see the looks I get. I'm very happy but I can't get my hair to stop pouring out. Yet it obviously is keeping my head filled with more hair than I've ever had! I used to get lots of 50+ new baby hairs all across my forehead but I wash my face and put on my Minoxidil differently and wash my hands in a different pattern after putting it on to keep from washing my hands twice! I have my GP confused but she lets me do the investigating, and very carefully after days of her own research cautiously prescribes my meds for me. But a few months back I had several days of racing heart. She did an EKG on the spot but read perfectly. It went away very quickly. But you are so correct, as I should be much more careful about watching all the meds and supplements I take! As should everyone. Your comment really hit home! Thank you if you got this far!!!

I use the brand Intelligent Minoxidil. It is very different from the usual brands. I can put in on after shampooing at night , throw in some Velcro rollers on top and wake up with great hair. The product actually thickens my hair at the roots like a root spray.

Sorry to say, same here. Even being selective in purchases I made watching influencers, got out of hand. Sale or not. Either too many to use daily, or they weren't worth it. Holding down your upper lip, while brushing your teeth to prevent wrinkles, speaks for itself.

@heatherboughton5936, I completely agree with you. I watched Angie as a subscriber years ago and I unsubscribed after about a year. (This was probably 2017). I couldn't take her anymore. She is absolutely obsessed with looking younger to an unhealthy degree. She spends a ton of money on herself that most women never could afford to do. (Wonder if that contributed to her divorce). I literally would see her spending thousands of dollars on clothes in only a few months. (How many pairs of jeans do you need????) Her whole persona is obsessive and unhealthy. She is a shopaholic as well. All this along with the constant pushing her subs to buy a ton of stuff she keeps hawking was a huge turnoff for me. She is NOT a mature woman influencer I could ever admire. I have not watched her in years.

Great video. I have had fine, thin hair all my life. If I apply mousse too near the ends, the ends end up stringy and emphasize the thinness. Also mousse adds grip and I struggle with being able to get the round brush through my thin hair, it can tug it. Keep up the good work Justin.

Women should ABSOLUTELY NOT use 5% minoxidil unless they’ve had a physician evaluate for it. This is not a marketing gimmick. It can have serious side effects for women (men as well, but it’s much better tolerated in males). Please don’t take medical advice from hair stylists. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns, get an evaluation from them, then see the stylist if it’s prudent per their advice.
