    Can we have a video about the actual raw performance that will make the mixing engineer's life easier with our vocals and add to a better final result? Thanks Chris!!

      This. This is exactly what I need. I open up pro tools and instantly my brain shorts circuits and I can't figure out where to even begin. I have no idea how to include any kind of effects and be able to hear them in my headphones while recording, let alone how to actually do any EQing or other effects before I can even send it to my headphones in the first place. It seems like every tutorial is for logic pro and the few I've found for pro tools skip over those important things like they assume I know what I'm doing already -.-

    I've been watching for a few years now, and I just want to say thank you. Thank you for helping me achieve the things I thought I could do, but wasn't sure if it was possible. I'm grateful to always be able to come back to your videos where no one is judging, and we're all capable of something.

    It's also nice to duck out your ambiance by side chaining a compressor to react to your lead vocal and duck the ambiance out of the way... Gives you more flexibility with the size/length of of the ambience you can use as well.

    More videos like this, Chris. I would also like to see some videos of you analyzing some famous singers from the process and effects point of view on their recordings. Maybe using some stems. Would be great. Thank you!

      Yes, absolutely... whatever is comfortable! Just listen to your body and do what it tells you first, before striving to get a particular sound! :)

    Hey Chris if you post a cover on UA-cam the record label will strike it but it won't be deleted unless you monetize it right? I don't care if I make money on a cover really. I just want to show my vocals. As usual appreciate your videos and think this channel has really been a boon in my vocal arsenal

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  25 днів тому +2

      Mostly yes :) Although you can qualify for a "sharing claim" if you reach out to the copyright owner. The content ID system will not strike it, but will not let you monetize it, instead sending any ad revenue to the copyright owner who has claimed the video.

      Depends on the band, context, and intent of the song. Archspire, for example, would likely disagree, as they use the vocals more percussively. So that requires a more nuanced mix that lets the vocals work together with the guitars and bass to create a more singular, cohesive sound. In a Pop sphere, you'd be right. But there's no broad-sweep rule for where the vocals should sit in the mix for every genre.
