1 Year in and can't sing to save my life
@@pablodm9 dont give up!
@@pablodm9Don't give up, in the beginning I could barely hit an E4 and nowadays I can hit an Ab4, A4 without any problem and in comfort
Always remember to open spaces, trying to make high notes with little space doesn't always work, and be careful with the pressure too
You are literally my ChatGPT of singing, and you always post the exact problem that I struggle with. Thanks you are my savior
Chris your videos are like nuggets of gold. Always something to learn from each one.
You have not only musical talent, but also pedagogical talent; your stories are very interesting and enthusiastic.
Another absolutely brilliant exercise to help me free my voice! I've taken your free course and looking to sign up to the full course - your content sells itself with how helpful it is.
One thing I'm constantly told is I'm trying too hard, I need to put less effort in.
Looking forward to working with you further in the full course!
Great singing and Great vocal exercises. I Highly recommend Chris for every kind of singer.
Dude I was trying to do high notes and they felt forced, figured I should check out your channel to see if you cover this, and here it is 1 day ago
Awesome! Great timing! :)
best tutorial as always i also practiced tried it
As usual, so incredibly helpful. Thanks again Chris you're the best 🙏
Your isolated vocal take is making me emotional while listening at work haha. Great stuff Chris!
Thank you for your videos. I’ve always been into music playing in bands and writing songs when younger kinda got away from it for a while. Recently started playing and writing again building a home studio and your videos are really helpful and inspiring I’ve never had a great voice but always wanted to get better so thanks.
Thank you for this, chris! Love your content
Dayummm !! Mind blown with your way of teaching !! I love it ❤ thank you for sharing 🙏
Thank you for the video, I like how your break builds into music and sounds awesome, I don't feel like mine would Sound that good xD
THANK YOU! BRANDON BOYD IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES!!! The 1 thing I'm lost on is when I'm using chest or head voice. I only know how to breathe. Idk what head voice is.
When you go into head voice you will feel it go to your head You go into head voice on high notes practise sirens and head voice techniques you will eventually find your head voice at first always practice chest voice and mixed voice then head voice x
Oh, I really needed this tutorial, thanks you! On "uuu" I go into falsetto, that's pretty high for me for now
Awesome video as usual, you've helped me so much! If you ever need a suggestion for a reaction, would love to see you take a look at the band Karnivool, whose signer is Ian Kenny. Lots of great songs, and the band is often dubbed as "tool but australian," if that helps with the context of what genres they sit in. Anyway, from my limited understanding, Ian Kenny is really great at switching between the chest, mixed, and head voice. Would love to hear your take on this. Some great tracks to check out would be Goliath, New Day, COTE, or Roquefort. Thanks!
I would argue he is even more versatile than maynard. insane range and as you said he is a genius at mixing all these different vocal styles
I feel like this is for me lol, as I'm stuck with this at the moment, thanks Chris you are amazing as always, sounds like you are feeling better as well😊
Incubus!! Excellent choice, thats a powerful vocal song
2:39 great damn voice
really helpful, love your content❤
this guy is so adorable! thnx by the golden tips😊
This is something I noticed Skin from Skunk Anansie doing, especially live. I'd loooove to see an analysis on her, Chris! ❤
2:23 i love your high notes
Oh my god I could just kiss you through my screen right now!! Got a gig in 2 days and YOU Chris just saved my a**
I still struggle with support. Been doing it wrong this whole time and it's kinda hard to rewire myself
hi Chris, always a pleasure to receive some tips from you with this pedagogics sense. I'll probably restart the discover your voice course soon and i was asking if you will do some sale or reedeem for your over course ( specially for the will ramos one) ? about this video i hope it will help me to correctly place my voice on the chorus of bow down by I prevail . have nice day and see you next video. bye
Love your videos and critiques !
Would love to hear your opinion on " Amigo the Devil- Hell and you."
I need this stuff, Im currently trying to do mix sound natural
Chris, someday you could teach/react to Myles Kennedy singing Words Darker than their Wings (live version). Especially the high note he does at the very end of the song
Comment for da algorithm
Streak count: 319
The first crack makes me feel like I shouldn't give up singing when I experience a weak moment. We're all humans trying our best.
YESSSSS
I want to write a song about my craniotomy, but idk how I'd sing it. I was thinking more of an alto voice at some parts, and go into soprano.
Hey man, love your videos! I just wanted to ask if you wouldn't mind checking out/ doing more of a deep dive in Shaun Morgan's voice from seether ? I love his rasp and really would like to learn how to get that sound. I love the song "Pass Slowly" cause of his range in it but in the song "Like Suicide" he does some screams which are super impressive! Thanks!
Great excersises and content man! Apart from the courses, do you also do 1 on 1 vocal coaching? I made a growl-tutorial a while back to explain how it should feel when you know your doing it right. But now I face the same problem trying to learn clean singing.
Hey Chris!
Thank you for a great session !
Would like to know, when you sing de "uUuUuuu" part at 9:37,
How can i practice to control this?
Thanks !
Absolutely love that opening Incubus track. Great powerful vocal.
Thanks for the video Chris, will give it a go.
Can you please make a voice analysis video about Kool-Aid from BMTH?
It’s filmed… just waiting for the video to get unblocked! :)
I haven't sang much over the past two years or so and as a result, my voice has gotten weaker and I've lost a lot of control. I've been getting back into it these past few months and I've been doing good progress, I'm almost where I used to be in some areas. But high notes have been giving me trouble, no matter what I tried, they always came out sounding very thin and weak, or I ended up voluntarily breaking and going into a scream. This video came at a perfect time. Thank you, Chris! Also, would you happen to have tips for cases like mine, getting your voice back after a long break? Or maybe there's a video I missed?
It would be the same as if you were lifting weights or any skill, it atrophies and skill decays over time. So you just go back into the skill and strength building activities as if it was your first time developing it. But strength and skills redevelop quicker and more easily after the first time
Exactly!
Start by rediscovering engaged sensations... What it means to support properly, what it means to resonate well and dynamically... I cover these in my free course linked in the video description! :)
This is very insightful 💙
One question (sorry if I ramble on):
I have a natural bass voice. Every now and again I like to mess around on ableton and sing songs while listening to my voice to measure the range of my voice. If C3 is middle C, then according to the tuner plugin on Ableton, my voice spans from D1 to F4 (G4 if I really force myself). Does this mean I have a 3 octave range or a 4 octave range?
Thanks Chris but what's with your support while relasing. I am mostly struggling with this.
This is super helpful Chris, but i still cant quite understand what Spencer Sotelo does when he sings the powerful high parts like in garden in the bones or satelites, is a high super powerfull voice with a bit of distortion but not the full screamo that he does. I heard is more about pushing the mix voice, nasalitie but there is something missing, my voice cracks a lot in those high notes and go into full distorted scream.
You're right... It's definitely in MIX with just the right amount of compression... It's super honed and one of those sensations that will sound different with every vocalist... It's pretty amazing.
@@chrisliepe Oh you actually answer, nice! I have been trying what you explaing in this video today and is such a subtle thing and what a game changer really, i used to think that if i apply those modulations to feel more comfortable in certain ranges singing with power, then i was gonna sound fake but it doesnt happen and it only get better with practice, thank you!
Is kind of applying the cry technique but then placing the "sound" back... or wherever you want actually.
Thank you for answering!
Thanks Chris! What Incubus song is this??
If not now, When
whats the note you’re hitting in the belt??
I actually don’t even know. I try not to pay attention to the names of the notes. I just go by feel :)
@@chrisliepe In the recording? Just by ear, I think it's an F#4. I'd check it with the tuner, but I'm pretty sure that's correct.
Forced high notes in pop music sounds so cringe. It just sounds like they're whining. Most people love crap though.
This is really good stuff!!! These videos are really helping me!
Hey, have you seen any of Toni Linke's videos here on youtube? He did a really comprehensive series on rough vocal effects and mentions you in there as well. It'd be really cool if you guys did a collab or something, here's the link to his channel: www.youtube.com/@ToniLinke
