Maybe if everyone stopped complaining about resolution and frame rates we wouldn't have the PS5 Pro. Its the same games your playing across the board splitting hairs over resolution. The PS5 and series x need some proper exclusives that push the consoles.
Everyone knows that when a console is in its final phase of its life cycle that they come out with that one specific game that pushes the console to max . I know I ain’t buying no pro I’m sticking with my OG ps5
I have both the Playstation 5 Slim Disc Version and Playstation 5 Pro. All my games are downloaded digitally, and to be honest, I definitely do notice a difference in my games when comparing the new Playstation 5 Pro console to the original Playstation 5 Slim Disc Version. I'll admit I am a pixel peeper and enjoy looking for those fine details as I'm a huge fan of 4K graphics/visuals and usually always prioritize Fidelity/Quality mode for better graphics over better framerate. The fact that I can now have the best of both worlds is the entire reasoning behind my purchase. People act like they are forgetting what Mark Cernys' entire sales pitch was. It was to use PSSR 4K upscaling to give us a 4K or near 4K image while retaining a smooth 60fps. So basically, it eliminates the need to pick between the same Fidelity Modes and Performance Modes. Even though you still have to compromise and make a choice in a lot of games, it seems like the better choice is always Performance Pro Mode as you'll be getting the 4K graphics you did with the base models Fidelity Mode while still being able to play at 60fps.
The fact that I don't notice differences doesn't mean they're not there... But if I don't notice them, I can't see any reason to spend that much money on it.
@@otherprisma7354 I watched the video on a 4K TV with the video quality set to 2160p. I understand that some quality is lost due to UA-cam's compression algorithms. But that's kind of my point. I can't tell the difference between the original version of a video, and the same video after going through UA-cam's compression algorithms, in the same way that I can't tell PS5 footage from PS5 Pro footage, because in both cases the difference is so miniscule. Maybe some people can, and for them the PS5 Pro may seem like a worthwhile purchase. Perhaps if I were to take screenshots of a game frame by frame and play "spot the differences" I would be able to, but that's not how I play games, and if it doesn't impact how I play the games then it's not relevant to me, especially not for $310. I understand the PS5 Pro isn't $810, but I'll explain what I mean about the price - a PS5 that, aside from the visual and performance improvements, would do everything my $500 PS5 does would cost $810 because I would have to buy a stand and a disc drive separately (and that's if you can even get the disc drive, which right now is difficult).
@@otherprisma7354 exactly. When you have it in front of you with a 120hz oled. You really see a difference with the enhancements. I sit close to me 55 120hz panel. The base PS5 looked blurry. The Pro is sharp and the RT is greatly enhanced. 60hz at 4k on games like horoizon, is a much better experience
People need to set expectations. If you are buying the ps5 pro for picture quality you will be disappointed, its not much of a difference to the naked eye. The image just looks sharper and more "detailed". People buy the ps5 pro for the boost in fps when games are "properely" patched. For me, i traded in my ps5 and xbox series x at gamestop for a trade credit of $820. so i had a positive balance of $60 to spend it on whatever i want on top of the ps5 pro i got for "free". At the end of the day, you cannot build a pc that is the same price of a ps5 pro that has better or the same performance. Playstation has always sold their consules at a loss either way so those people ps5 pro is overpriced, your claim is invalid. My $1500 PC does weaker performance than my $700 ps5 pro. As with dlss it was a nightmare the first year, but after that it got better. Same for pssr. You people comparing dlss that has gone a major revamp, bugs, and fixes to PSSR that just came out is an irrelevant comparison.
U gave your 2 very good consoles away, with what u got to play the best from both platforms just to get this over priced remaster, remade machine.... 🥴
I hope you’re enjoying the console cause at the end of the day who gives a fuck about how much we spend to enjoy what we love, but i have only three issues with this statement, first the reason why pssr is being compared to dlss right away is due to it being forced to even see large performance boost, yes just as with anything pssr will get better with time but that could be years even the ps6 lifetime till we actually payoff of the new technology like dlss, and one of the major points of the console is “pssr” so if it is flawed to start but its forced for these ps5 pro enhanced games then it should be criticized or compared to dlss just as well as fsr was when it was introduced, second the flaw with the ps5 pro or any console really is being always limited to quality or performance this standard had ruined modern console gaming for me at least, I truly do not understand why console dont at least try at pc customization, third, a 1500$ pc kills the ps5 pro will probably double the performance no joke with a 4070 ti super or 4080 used or even a 850$ pc with a 7800xt or used 6900xt true that it’d be hard to match it at 700$ but with all the customization that comes with pc is 150$ more really that much.
I traded my PS5 for a PS5pro and it only cost me $380 (that is with the stand). Also I noticed an extreme difference in FF7rebirth, destiny 2, Hogwarts & war hammer. I didn’t see a difference in FF16 or FF7 Remake (but then again there no pro patch)
@@joshuacoons9517 380? Must have been when the pro first came out. GameStop recently told me $275 as a pro member when I asked them how much they would take my ps5 base for. Total would have like $480+ with trade in. Still better than $700+.
I was coming to say the same thing. I traded mine in for sub $375. Also, this guy was talking about his $3k-$4k laptop like you can even compare it to a console. 🤣. He talks about being ripped off.. yet, a $2k graphics card alone is fine..? Get out of here 🤣🤣🤣
I kind of wish I didn't buy the PS5 Pro. But I had sold a lot of things so I bought it with cash so no complaint over buying it. I don't really notice any visual difference once so ever in any game at all. What I have noticed is slightly faster loading as well as upgrading the graphics in the PS4 games. I also notice better frame rate in Call of Duty games. That's about it though. Better frame rate, slightly better PS4 graphics. So overall I would say it's not really worth it. But I will keep it as I do like that it has 2TB SSD NVME inside of it. I like that for sure. But I have a gaming PC as well. Myh PC is with Nvidia 4070 super graphics card. It get's 33.5 teraflops. Way better than the 16.7 teraflops of the PS5 Pro. I played Call of Duty Black Ops 6 on my PS5 Pro and the PC as I have Xbox game pass Ultimate and got the game for free of course. I noticed better graphics and better frame rate on my PC for sure. My PC is is a 165 Hz 1440p monitor vs PS5 on a 4K 120 Hz TV. Even with 1440p though, wow PC graphics and frame rate are way better for sure.
Yep because PC has more than just resolution going on,I remember years ago playing tomb raider in 1080p on PC and it looked better than rise of tomb raider in 4K on my ps4pro so I get what you are saying about 1440p on your pc looking betterment than console 4k
@@agoogleuser2369 I use to think the same way until the PS4 came around. Prices didn’t drop until the PS5 came out. When it did, it barely dropped (still $233.99 new). Base PS5 is still $499.00 and it is 4yrs in. Sooo, you will be waiting. By the time it drops we will be a few yrs in the PS6. If you don’t mind playing games 8-10yrs old, then you have a point. Now you can always buy used. But that is a roll of the dice. After all we are talking about new.
you are just accellerating the destruction of western studios by not buying their games, it plays right in the hands of microsoft to sell every ips for pennies to Chlna.
I couldn't get into the PS5 either I don't have a pro but had the slim but something about it just doesn't feel right. Every time I boot it up I'm reminded that I prefer the Xbox ecosystem much more. The controller is another factor it's too light on the hands, the thumbstick placement is best on Xbox controllers, it's just not a comfortable controller to game on for long sessions. It might all just be personal preference but I definitely had to go back to series X with elite series 2 controller it's just very comfortable to game on.
@@Michael-t4d you game on one system for to long , I can play arcade Xbox Nintendo and PlayStation and the controller dosent bother me I’m used to it though
So everything in this world has gone up in price dramatically over the last 4 years including salaries and you expect gaming consoles to get cheaper?Xbox is barely selling consoles and 75 percent of the sales are Series S.Xbox sold the Series X last year for holidays for $350 here in the US and it barely moved the sales.
I use to be a big Playstation fanboy until I got the series x and I absolutely love it I also have a ps5 and its been collecting dust lol no need to upgrade to 5 pro I'll wait for ps6
Sony if you gonna pro …PRO! The pro is the top tier console. Like when you buy a top tier vehicle it comes with ALL bells and whistles. The ps5 pro at MINIMUM should have a damn disc drive for $700. Or a dual sense edge controller. Something. It’s for the ENTHUSIASTS so it should have EVERYTHING!
@@nelsonmartinez0410 A PC ain’t even comparable to a console. Apples to oranges. You are getting more bang for you buck for your $1700 pc then someone is with their $700 ps5 pro . You have dang near full autonomy with a customization and parts in a pc which is more versatile and con do way more. And more powerful. A console is limited. You probably built it yourself or had it custom built to YOUR liking. Picked your parts etc. A console can’t do that. It probably out performs a ps5 pro too. $1700 can get you a decent pc that won’t be outta date for a while. And pc got way more storage and storage options. The moment modern gaming goes all digital with no disc drive option I’ll switch to pc and just play my retro consoles . It’s makes sense for PC. For a console not to me when they still sell physical games. And they like to delist games in the digital store cause of licensing bs. Then the only way you can play it is having a disc or key. Once again the pro should come with at least a disc drive or an edge controller. Either one at its price. If not a disc drive a high end controller. A console was originally designed to be affordable for the everyday man. Pc was luxury gaming back then. Once again let’s say you buy a top of the line whatever your dream vehicle is. Let’s use an example and say Corvette. You pay zr1 price but getting just a bottlenecked LT3 performance and trim. . No brembos. No racing suspension. Gotta buy them separately. Instead of the 670 hp in the zr1 . Just under 500 hp in the 3lt. That’s bs. If I pay top dollar for a top tier console I need all bells and whistles. The price itself ain’t the biggy it’s what you get with it that pisses me off.
People like to complain about the disc drive everywhere, however the hard truth is most people in the world buy digital games all the time, discs are a thing of the past.
For me I noticed a difference. I sit close to my LG 120hz TV. Everything is crisp and more snappy. I think things will get better with more updates. GTA6 should also be using the PROs HW and Features
I own all 3 consoles, S/X, PS5 Pro and Switch. also a very capable gaming rig. I could never limit myself to one platform. I game everywhere, and miss out on nothing!
My friend has a PRO and there is NO DIFFERENCE! All the Pro does, is bring the PS5 up closer to the power of the Series X. Since the PS5 has a much weaker GPU and everything else in comparison. I saw no difference between PS5 VS Pro. None! Anyone who claims they do is a ''fanboy'' just trying to convince themselves because they spent $700.
Mark ..if you already have a PS5 it is not worth getting a PS5 Pro. Claiming $700 is not worth that level of graphics is the wrong way to look at it. Coming from the PS4 Pro I have 2 options. $500 for the base PS5 or $700 for the PS5 Pro. That's $200 for the extra enhancement, not $700. Half of the extra $200 is for the added 1TB of SSD storage. Well worth it. Don't judge a console by lame games produced by lazy devs who think AI upscaling can polish a turd without any optimisation. Judge a console by the best games made by the best devs. They set the bar and show what is possible going forward. Sometimes the improvement is better frame rate and frame pacing rather than pixel detail. The console has only been out a few weeks and you're writing it off. In a years time, base PS5 will be struggling with new games and PS5 Pro will start to shine. Everyone said the PS4 Pro was not worth it as well, but over time games ran better on it. AI upscaling needs a nice clean source image so the upscaler can identify the subpixel detail and reproduce it with new pixels. If the image is blurred, noisy or compressed, it has artefacts that destroy the subpixel ghost image across the pixels, so the AI upscaler has nothing to work with. Flickering frames that are not temporally stable is the AI upscaler hunting for subpixel detail and just rendering what it can. All these games that are failing are feeding low quality source images into the AI upscaler, thinking it can polish a turd. Sony's quality control should not be signing off such shoddy work because it gives a bad impression and that generates negative rants from people like you. To be honest you do not need the disc drive. I bought it but haven't used it, because I fitted a 4TB SSD and all the games I own on disc are either free or really cheap to get them in digital format. I'm all in on game preservation, but discs are not the answer. A plastic carrier is worthless because it only contains a faction of the game when you consider all the updates. Game preservation is buy lots of storage and store the whole game locally without deleting it, and remasters preserve games worth preserving for the new hardware.
@@jeffd.3290 In Europe the digital edition PS5 is 374 at the moment. The Pro is 800. And take a look at Avatar, Alan Wake 2, Star Wars Outlaws or Dragon's Dogma 2 running on the Pro. That's not a 426 euros difference. In fact those games arguably look worse on the Pro.
It got a very beefy gpu but they're not taking advantage of it at all. Good on xbox for skipping the mid refresh to focus on releasing the next gen ahead of sony
@@s4f3ty you can tell when it's a console person that knows fuck all about hardware.. cause a 4090 is like the only GPU you people have ever heard of. And what you said makes no sense and is not even close to what I'm talking about
"We don't need." Who is we. I am not you so you do not speak for me. If you do not want it, then you are not the target audience, so shut up and don't buy it.
Look to each is own if you have a ps5 keep what you have if you want to upgrade then upgrade we all like different things so enjoy what you have and enjoy gaming if it’s on a ps5 or ps5 pro or Xbox or Nintendo just enjoy gaming period.
You're not the only one, but all reviewers mention that the Xbox is not having a mid-cycle refresh. Let's not forget that the PS4Pro was released November 2016, and One X November 2017.
It’s only bad enough that the PS5 pro cost $700 back to add insult to injury so they are charging about $100 more for the disc drive. It’s not worth it.
Some people are complaining certain games have issues and look worse on the PS5 Pro. Can you turn off these features to make it look like it does on the original PS5?
I have noticed that only 3 games (Control, Far cry 6, and FFVII remake) looked a bit Dull. However i don't know if it's the PSSR doing its magic or just the raw power of the pro, games like AC Odyssey, Returnal, killzone Shadowfall and many other games will give you that PC gaming vibe that the base ps5 couldn't. I haven't seen an option yet to disable the PSSR, theres only an option you can choose in the settings to enhance ps4 games by default.
We went from being gameplay oriented to digital foundry oreinted with gaming. 7 year developmental cycles trying to do what a $1800 4090 $500 Ryzen does on a sub $1000 box packed with low bid components. But at least indies are still rolling strong! My PS5 collects dust now. I play my 3060ti and switch a lot more. It's not like Sony is killing it with exclusive releases.
Yeah xbox is killing it!!! Like ot or not. BO6 on gamepass, stalker 2 is a banger & indiana Jones is going to be hitting too.... + 500+ games so theirs definitley some bangers on there. & it's definitley holding its own & still yet better at some games then the ps5 pro. Definitley you really gotta be a lil slow not to want to get on the box & steam will prolly be playing on their next console & say what you want but they don't need a refresh theirs still some power left under the hood to tap into. Series S/X is killing the game right now like it or not.
I was about to pull the trigger on a pro about a week ago. There had been a succession of positive videos that I had just come off of, and was getting pumped. I listed my base PS5 and didn't get any bites right away, and in the interim saw some more videos about some games that actually looked worse. I'm very thankful for that little cool down. I had, because I feel like I just saved myself a lot of money. I'm going to keep my eye on how games and developers handle it over the next year, also see if it might come down to price a little bit.
Good idea. Theres no point in rushing to get it. They’re not gonna be out of stock. Wait and see what the devs do, look at comparisons of future games, then decide. And maybe you’ll even get lucky and snag one for much cheaper
I wouldnt upgrade, you won't see major changes. this is really for people who want the best of the best and honestly with where we are the gaps arent that wide. you're also very unlikely to see price drops until at least early into the PS6 life cycle. I would invest the money into a PC and keep the base console or just wait the 3-ish years for a PS6
I was at my friend’s house last week, horizon zero dawn remastered looked incredible on the pro. I was impressed. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I could tell the difference.
Great video! One thing I constantly see online are two arguments against Xbox. One is that it doesn't have exclusive games that aren't available on other platforms. Two is that if you have a powerful PC, the Xbox console makes no sense. I think both of these arguments are completely irrelevant. And this is coming from somene who (like yourself) owns a very capable gaming desktop PC and the Xbox Series X. After spending ~1400€ on a PC and over 200€ on peripherals (mechanical keyboard and mouse) which raises the price to over 1600€, I'm just pleasantly shocked how close a 440€ console gets me to the same experience. And why did I get a console then? I wanted another gaming setup on another room and I love the system's plug and play nature. I just press on the controller's button and it turns on the TV, the soundbar and everything. No need to type in passwords, or juggle between mouse+keyboard and controller if you want to play certain games on a controller instead of M&K. Also love how the Xbox ecosystem just gives you added benefits for playing on both Windows and the Xbox console. "Xbox Play Anywhere" gets you two copies on both the PC and console for the price of one. Your games also have cloudsync so you can continue where you left off on a completely different platform. I also think it's great that all of the cloudsave stuff works *without* having a subscription. Take note, Sony and Nintendo. Take note. I don't currently subscribe to GamePass, but it's just a way better offering than PS Plus when it comes to day1 AAA releases. About exclusivity... I've played mostly on PC since I was a kid and I never troubled myself with the idea of "having access to games other people don't have access to". I think that's completely a psychological thing to some people. If you have dozens or hundreds of interesting games available to you, it doesn't matter at all whether they're available on some other platform. Skyrim was an awesome game according to many people, yet it was ported to pretty much every system on the planet including the toaster in your kitchen. That doesn't take away from its greatness. What I do appreciate tho' is how Xbox puts focus on backwards compatibility so not only can you play all those older titles on a new system, but you also get added benefits like increased framerates, HDR and added resolutions. Fallout 3 looks way better on an Xbox Series X than it did on the Xbox 360 back in the day, whereas on the PS5 it doesn't run at all because of the lack of proper backwards compatibility. And to anyone saying "who plays older games?!" I can only say: A LOT of people do. Like a lot.
I'm not saying Sony wouldn't have good exclusives, but on the other hand I never pay high sums for any games. I don't even pay 40€ for games and I wait for them to be on a -75-90% discount first. So all of the God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Spiderman etc. games with 70€ price tags would just be a "no" from me. I mostly play 5-15€ for my games and I have no problems waiting a few years after they' been released. Again: I'm not saying those games are bad. They're not. But at the same time for me? I'd rather get more games that are 10-15€ than buy any 40-70€ games, really. But that's just me. If you're also as stingy as I am when it comes to game prices, you'd prolly also not have any added benefits from those exclusive offerings either. I've paid roughly 300€'ish for around 37 games by now because of steep Xbox discounts. And if there'd ever be some 60-80€ game I'd have an eye on, I'd just subscribe to a single month of GamePass Ultimate to play it and that's that. From what I've understood, Sony's exclusives aren't on their subscription service, so there's no avoiding those high prices...
you are 100% right but you are missing one reason why Sony launched PS5 pro...and the reason is they are afraid of continuous advancement in graphic cards and hence for this reason they launched ps5 pro with AI and PSSR so that this PS5 generation can complete its tenure before the launch of PS6 which will be GDDR7 RDNA 3 or 4 with most probably Zen 5 or 6 processor..
i am going from the ps3 to the ps5. i purchased it about three weeks ago . held on from opening it in case i went pro. $1199.00 AUD and no disc drive anywere. playing rise of the tomb raider and loos amazing on my ps5 slim with drive i got on sale. still getting used to the controller. the ps3 one felt better in the hand. but its not bad still getting used to it. different than 2013 tom raider on ps3 buttons made more sense
I think if Developers, allow the options to manually set your graphical options that will help a lot. And still offer this predetermined graphical option as well.. it's time for Sony and Xbox to give us all the options and we decide how we want are games to look.. my brother-in-law has a PS5 and I know he has a few options but nothing major that he is allowed to change in games. But I also heard Xbox is supposed to be coming out with a more computer like gaming system. Which may allow these options like PC does, not sure if it's true but it will be a game changer.. it's kind of sad all that horsepower in the Pro is being held back
I purchased this 3x just to make sure I wasn't tripping and it is NOT worth the money. Comes with no disc drive and I can't even tell the difference in the games. The UI is the same and I just feel like I got duped Everytime I turn it on.
Ps5 pro have 800€ in the ''rich'' Greece + 30€ the stand + 120€ the disk drive. This means converting to Dollars that in Greece (and the rest Europe, but in Greece the basic salary is 830€ (880$)) you need to pay 1.007$ to have a Ps5 pro with disk drive and standing.
If you’re not gonna be sitting at a desk playing on a PC monitor and you have displays and internet “if your gonna go wireless “ capable of giving you the upgraded visuals and you can afford it then do it. I love mine and so does everyone I personally know that really owns one. See it for yourself and make your own judgement. You got people out here telling you they can’t see the difference between 1080p and 4K or that the wireless earbuds off Temu sound identical to AirPods lol. If you want the best gaming console on the market right now then PS five Pro is it. Clearly the real hangup inspiring the most hate is the price so if you can’t get it, don’t hate just wait.
I think the funniest thing about the PS5 Pro is how upset people are about not being able to buy something that was never meant for them in the first place. And I’m not all too thrilled about the price tag either, but it’s been made clear on several occasions that this is specifically targeting people that want their games to look, feel and play the best they’ve ever been on a PlayStation console with little to no compromise as a result. No one is forcing anyone to buy this. The slim does still exist and anyone wanting a ps5 can always get that instead. Besides, I’m certain most of you have phones, tablets, laptops, smart watches, clothing, etc. that cost about the same if not more than this thing. So what are we really talking about here?
And still they dont look. Many games are more blurry in ps5 pro. If few old games which everyone already played looks better... its not worth for 700$ or 930$ what it costs in Europe, anyways
It has to do with the price, of course. PS4Pro was 2.3x faster than the base model, and was only 100 dollars more. PS5Pro is 1.5x faster than the bas model, but 300 dollars more expensive.
Bro, I'm saying the same exact thing!!?? People literally spend thousands of dollars to upgrade iPhones every year to basically have the same exact phone they had the previous year with little to no differences at all and justify that but somehow get mad about Sony adding $200 to a Pro level console that was specifically taylor made for a certain type of player anyway. Im that player, so I spent the money and am not complaining or regretting my decision. It's just weird how people can somehow act like we as a society don't buy the same phones every year for near or over the price of a console that will get you years of use.
@@CREEBANDZ510 With phones, it's been the same business model for almost 30 years, but it's a new thing for consoles. In the previous generation, the Pro model was 2.3x faster than the base model and carried the $100 stronger price tag. In Europe, the base model is €399, and the Pro is double the price at €799. The Pro model is only 1.6x faster this time around with double the price.

Ps5 pro need update patches if you want to see big differences. In GT7 ths 1.54update patch make a nice difference in flat (25+ more fps in performance mode and higher resolution with much better ray tracing in quality mode) AND in PSVR2 (reprojection here is VERY BIG difference, cause you can see the scenery when you look right or left without blur or double image, but CRYSTAL clear motion picture). Month by month and game by game the differences will increase. I didnt had a Ps5 so the Pro is nice choice, cause i can have a good library now of flat games and of course as a psvr lover, a good library of psvr2 games, some of them, blew me away. I like that youre honest. If you have ps5, its not necessary to upgrade to ps5 pro unless you like perfection.
I'm happy with my Ps5 pro. Games have that polish. Even the smoother Ui is noticeable in FC 25. Looks like playing the CGI used in the trailers. However though, if you don't have a good Oled TV, then it's not for you.
Hey mark! Great video. I’m someone with a top tier gaming pc, 4060 laptop, ps5 pro, deck oled and switch oled. And lately I’ve been thinking of picking up the series x due to the idea of “play anywhere” and the ability to have cross-save between gamepass Xbox and pc. Is that something “smart” to do? I already have a pretty massive library on the ps ecosystem, but a lot of them either don’t play well due to 30fps (no boost similar to series x) or same I just haven’t touched (dragons dogma 2 for example). Would love your take!
I mean, if you got the money for it - go for it! Xbox game pass ultimate works on PC. so you can play Xbox at home or whatever, and if you go somewhere - bring your laptop with you and continue off playing. Especially since some games don't play well on PS like you said That's what I do 😅🔥
@@MarksTech haha thanks for the reply! yeah i have a bunch of gift cards to best buy, so really been thinking about it. Funny enough, my ps5 pro return window is still available as well till Jan 14th, but i don't think i would consider returning the pro due to knowing myself and probably wanting it again later down the road. I honestly just buy a lot of my games on steam due to the deck oled. Especially on sale, never full price. I'll think about it more, perhaps might be better to save the money instead for something later down the road. Thank you!
I put it like this, if Ghost of Yotei, a first party game that's being developed from the ground up with the Pro in mind, doesn't look noticeably better on this console, then we can officially say just go with the base PS5. Because GTA6 probably will have the same difference.
I own the pro. Most of the differences are minor. The image in certian games are a bit cleaner. I really liked the extra TB of storage. Is it worth the money? Eh, that just depends on the buyer. I dont regret it, but i can see someone being disappointed if they thought it was going to be a next gen console. If you gotta struggle REALLY hard to come up with the money, id stick with a base ps5. If 700$ doesnt break the bank, and you enjoy little differences, and extra storage, get it. Thats my only tip.
People relax they have not made a game strictly for the PS five Pro yet this shit kills me when people are basically facing their opinions on recycled games, everyone’s gonna bite their words when they make the new batch of games strictly and solely for the PS five
And they never will make a game strictly for the PS5 Pro, that would be absolutely stupid. Games will always take lead on the PS5 and the Pro will get resolution upgrades due to more rasterization power, and some additional level of RT support, but we all know it is not a RT powerhouse either. PSSR will get better in time, just like DLSS did, but we all need to be logical here, Sony is *not* going to provide a gaming experience that exceeds the $700 price point, especially with such a relatively non-existent CPU upgrade over PS5 Amatuer.
the difference is not noticeable simply because ps5 pro is not a 8k console, not like 8k gameplay console, even if it is then 8k is not standardized yet fully.
I play mostly on my series X, I still even play a little on my PS3 super slim. Yeah I know. But haven’t gotten the ps5 yet . I’m still deciding between PS5 disc edition or PS5 pro.
I bought the PS5 slim this year in Feb for FF7 Rebirth and only played it for about 2hrs cause once I installed GT7 its the only game I play on Playstation . After reading what my group was saying about the benefits from the Pro I had to see for myself so I traded my Slim in for the Pro . At 1st I was like omg wtf is going on I don't the what the fuss was about . But after one of my group members to me to turn PSSR off and try it again . Lmao omg huge difference . So pretty much Ray Tracing before was only during in replays of your race . But now with the Pro with small upgrades you get Ray Tracing during game play which is hella nice . Gives that more of a real feeling so yeah to me it was worth it trading my Slim in and paying the difference . But hell no not worth $700 . if I was omfg graphics I'll use my desktop . But since GT7 is Sony only I enjoy my Pro until the PS6 comes out when GT8 releases .
It is over priced. I have one and love it. You need to make sure you have a OLED tv at 120htz with VRR then you will be happy.looks better and runs better. If you are playing on a reg led 4 k tv waste of your money.
@@jasonrodgers6192 Yep. I have a Panasonic JZ980 Oled and it's just not that much of a huge deal. I don't even like sitting in a pitch black room watching TV anyway because it hurts my eyes (especially with HDR content). The most important feature on a TV is VRR at 120hz. That makes console gaming better. Oled is neither here nor there though. I'd just recommend a good brand when buying a TV because build quality matters.

Where do you live? I went to Best Buy two days ago and they were out of stock, and they told me every Best Buy within 100 miles is also out of stock. It’s in stock on Amazon, but for 180 bucks. Walmart also doesn’t have it Target doesn’t have it I literally cannot find any store that has it lol. So which stores are you talking about?
This was just a money grab for Sony. I thought the original PS5 disc drive was a Pro and the digital was just PS5 ? All the specs in the Pro should have been in the original on launch. I believe that would have sold millions more consoles.
I love my Series X, still runs solid. I have started to build a gaming PC for my son and all I need is the SSD to come in tomorrow and I can start it up and get games running. I feel like PC is the route I'll be taking since I'll have all my Xbox games and even try Sony games like Helldivers 2. I think Microsoft should just let PC absorb Xbox and make Xbox consoles "Fixed spec PCs" I would love to see a $300 Series S type of console that my kid could also use as a PC to do homework on while having a mid spec Series X type for $500 and then letting the "Pro" variant be the limitless world of PC gaming. They would also boost their numbers of Windows if they just let the Xbox run it out the box.
Thanks for your effort and honesty. "My personal" opinion: You can do whatever you want (with your money). But it's not just about if you can afford it (i could but i won't), to me it's more about what you get for your money. Is the Pro better? Sure (though right now still with (the usual) issues here and there, many new products have). Are the improvements worth the premium price? Absolutely not... so far... 'cause no one can tell what the Pro is capable of as soon as the official PS5 Pro games can take full advantage of it's HW. Right now I think it's a rip off, period. FIY or as a reminder: In Germany the displayed prices are final (including taxes). Slim Digital: 449,- vs. Pro: 799,- Euros! Slim Disc: 549,- vs. Pro Disc: 918,- Euros! (the disc drive costs 119,- Euros sold separately) For that amount of money I'd have expected the PS6 with completely new HW and a mind blowing never seen before performance. The 2TB vs. the 1TB is worth a premium of 50,- Euros max. That leaves another 300/319 Euros premium for what? The same HW as before with a little bit of OC and implemented A.I., which (basically) doesn't even give us more raw performance. With the Pro the 90's SONY slogan changed into: "It's a trick - its a SONY". 😅 Yes, I know, it's the same with the PC GPUs and yes, I know, the Pro is for us hardcore enthusiasts and not meant for everyone, but still... it's too expensive. For an extra 150 Euros (599/699 total) i would've bought the Pro. Instead I used the BF deals and bought myself finally the PS5 Slim Disc Fortnite Bundle (incl. items worth 48,- Euros) + the PSVR2 COTM Bundle + 2 additional DualSense Controller for less than a Pro alone + the extra disc drive. By the way, there's one more major factor to be aware of. With every single Pro unit that is sold my concerns about the price of the future PS6 are growing. Depending on what SONY is going to charge for the PS6, after my PS1/2/3/4/4 Pro the PS5 will be my last one. If you actually made it all the way through and are still with me, I respect & appreciate you. 😄 🫶 ... take care and have a wonderful Christmastime.
My pro performs a lot better than my slim for me and my display. The response in image, the navigation, loading stuff. I could tell just making the BO6 menu and shuffling through camos of off muscle memory. Hard to do on a slim because there was a little longer of a delay going into loadouts and gunsmith. Remote play from my portal and ps4 were cleaner too. Trying not to glaze but that’s been my experience.
I only got the pro because of storage but i agree the differences are very minimal and not worth the price tag i do think sony not including a disc drive and stand option, is a dick move and advertising the console as a pro version it should come with all the bells and whistles
The Pro doesn't have hardware-based AI so it is no surprise it does not work well. According to TechpowerUp it's still RDNA 2.0 with some Frankenstein features added through software. The base PS5 could do it as well. The Pro, as it has now, is clearly a rip off. The PS4 price was 299€ here in the EU when the PS4 Pro came out for just 399€. How can the Pro cost 799€ (without a disc drive and a proper stand that will cost a whopping 170€ extra). Even the 699$ in the US is way too much. The GPU does not even beat a RX7700XT. It is more like a RX7600XT with 256bit mem bus and some more CU/shaders not turned off by as AMD.
Coming from pc gaming, i have to admit, i am a fps guy. And for this case, the pro is a clear winner in almost every game. Couldn't be happier. Is this a console for everyone? Nope, not at all, as sony mentioned by themself. Enjoy it guys, or skip it.
There are instances where it is worth it. I personally wish i could get it to guarantee high frame rates. I got spoiled by 120 hz. But again like the dual sense and PSVR2, it still boils down to the developer support. If they support it then it is will remain worth it. I can't afford it so I'll just wait until the six drops to upgrade. I got a Spiderman PS5 and 30th anniversary portal so I'm good for now.
The one thing i really wonder is the fact when Monster Hunter Wilds and GTA 6 comes out. Will the PS5 Pro will make those games a lot better. I believe so and that is the reason why I am gonna purchase one at the beggining of next year. The fact you can trade in your base PS5 for almost 300 and get the PS5 Pro for 400 plus tax to me isn't that bad.
I don't think it will make those games "a lot" better. Chances are GTA 6 will be CPU heaving, the PS5 Pro has very little uplift there over the base model. So other than some resolution upgrades and minimal RT, I don't think we can really expect much else.
Oookkk, I'm afraid I have to fundamentally disagree with just about all of the claims made here.. Jumping into it: -As it is targeted to the most 'engaged players', my presumption would be most people would be trading there base PS5 for the PRO, knocking the net outlay for the console down to ~$400. When you look at your setup as a whole, I would then ask what would be a better upgrade for $400? -The upgrade presented by the PRO is really only FULLY unlocked with a higher end display. With a 65"+ OLED, VRR, and 120hz capability you can unquestionably see a nice difference. I would not recommend this someone with a smaller, lower end LCD. Save up and get a better TV! -One thing to bear in mind, not all sections of all games will have a high level of extra detail to be unlocked by the PRO. For example, in GOW Ragnarok, Jotunheim, Vanaheim, & Svartalfheim look WAY better. While Helheim and Alfheim just don't have the fine detail to look a whole lot better. -Circling back to the core reason for the PRO; unlocking the capability to experience Fidelity level graphics in Performance mode. In my experience so far, GOW Ragnarok, The Crew Motorfest, Forbidden West, F1 2024, & Black Ops (white speckling needs to get fixed), that is EXACTLY what it has done. Its actually been a really great experience on console to get razor sharp visuals while still running at 60+ fps.
It's something you have to give a year. Once the games that are about to be released are optimised for it out of the gate and Sony have had a bit more time to iron out the shortcomings in PSSR the difference will be more noticeable. There's never going to be a time when the performance of the Pro is so noticeably better than the standard it makes the Pro an essential purchase rather than a luxury option. To me the biggest joke is that they rumours of the PS6 are starting to surface. For me there will be no need to upgrade to another Playstation till the PS7. Yes I have shelled out for the Pro to fill the space in my setup where there was no PS5 at all but even as what I would call myself a hardcore gamer I'm not expecting to get any less than 10 years out of this console. When the PS6 does eventually launch the difference between that and the Pro will be no more than the difference between the standard PS5 and the PS5 pro. We have hit a wall now where all we can expect is tiny incremental improvements between generations. It quite simply is never going to go back to how it used to be where you could see a noticeable upgrade from one generation to the next. They don't even fully capitalize on the performance capabilities of current hardware anyway. Besides which a massive proportion of games even in this era are not graphically demanding. PS6 improvements are likely to be no more than 2 seconds faster loading times and more built in storage. And people still won't have 8k TVs by that time. Which is another joke really double the pixels, treble the price and a ten percent improvement in picture quality. Is it really worth it. Maybe if you are an elitest with friends to boast to and money to burn. This is the era of if deninishing returns and it's here to stay for a long, long time.
Yeah not all games on the pro look any better but there are a few now that are definitely noticeable the pro basically just gives u the ps5 quality mode at 60fps instead of 30 on base ps5 if u have the right tv it’s worth it if u have just a normal 4k tv or monitor it’s definitely not worth it
Superb Video! A little bird tells me that Microsoft plans to bring a new "Hybrid Gen Xbox X2" that will include hardware and software to play any PC game. They plan to release late 2026 or 2027 so many people do not see the point of a "Mid Cycle Upgrade" since a new console is just around the corner ;)
I find it real sus that people were bragging about the series x "power advantage" over the ps5 in the beginning, but now power doesn't matter? C'mon, give me a break. Just admit you're an xbox fanboy. Don't insult my intelligence. I'll respect you more for it.
I think that only the future games will show the PS5 Pro potential. - They will improve PSSR. - Developers will start aiming at PS5 Pro and the original PS5 will run games only at 30fps in new games due to lack of PSSR. So I recommend not buying it right now. Remember: console doesn't matter, games do. If there are no significant differences right now then there is no point buying PS5 Pro right now
$499 bs5 pro $199 Concord tax. That console had red flags I mean, think about it. As soon as the Concord $400 million loss Sony came out with this console which is the same PS5 just with a few small upgrades. Plus they sold back Hideo Kojima IP rights. They needed money 💰 Just save $300 more dollars and buy a Pre Built PC at this point
Maybe if everyone stopped complaining about resolution and frame rates we wouldn't have the PS5 Pro. Its the same games your playing across the board splitting hairs over resolution. The PS5 and series x need some proper exclusives that push the consoles.
Exactlyyyyyyyyyyy
Even though you still have to compromise and make a choice in a lot of games, it seems like the better choice is always Performance Pro Mode as you'll be getting the 4K graphics you did with the base models Fidelity Mode while still being able to play at 60fps.
its the 2TB that makes this thing expensive, look at the 2TB xbox, also expensive
The fact that I don't notice differences doesn't mean they're not there... But if I don't notice them, I can't see any reason to spend that much money on it.
because you need to see it from a actual TV to see the difference.
But either way i just like making conversation hopefully the ps5 pro looks amazing for you

Pretty sure he mentioned you can get a ps5 for $374 right now and the ps5 pro is $749, that’s closer to a $360 dollar difference rather than $200.
Holy yap
@@jeffd.3290 In Europe the digital edition PS5 is 374 at the moment. The Pro is 800. And take a look at Avatar, Alan Wake 2, Star Wars Outlaws or Dragon's Dogma 2 running on the Pro. That's not a 426 euros difference. In fact those games arguably look worse on the Pro.
When you can get the regular ps5 for under 400, and the difference in performance is minimal, it is exactly the right way to look at it...
Ps4 pro doesn't do 4k native
It got a very beefy gpu but they're not taking advantage of it at all. Good on xbox for skipping the mid refresh to focus on releasing the next gen ahead of sony
I am hoping MS ditches the two model approach like they have been doing lately.
Beefy GPU in a console? Where? The pro is a 7700xt at most..that is a midrange GPU. That is not beefy
@RocWolf7 oh yeah and a 4090 is a budget gpu in your eyes too

You're not the only one, but all reviewers mention that the Xbox is not having a mid-cycle refresh. Let's not forget that the PS4Pro was released November 2016, and One X November 2017.
I saw the difference in Stellar Blade. Big time. Also, why keep switching and just own a xbox and ps5 both?
It’s only bad enough that the PS5 pro cost $700 back to add insult to injury so they are charging about $100 more for the disc drive. It’s not worth it.
And $30 bucks for the stand! 😂😂😂

Question: Do you regret leaving your library behind?
Nah tbh
I feel sorry for the gamers who can't see it.....but there is a difference owning the PlayStation 5 Pro....... it's in your WALLET 😢
you are 100% right but you are missing one reason why Sony launched PS5 pro...and the reason is they are afraid of continuous advancement in graphic cards and hence for this reason they launched ps5 pro with AI and PSSR so that this PS5 generation can complete its tenure before the launch of PS6 which will be GDDR7 RDNA 3 or 4 with most probably Zen 5 or 6 processor..
i am going from the ps3 to the ps5. i purchased it about three weeks ago . held on from opening it in case i went pro.
After 20 years on PS I switched to xbox last year. The game offering on xbox is second to none
Why do you think Xbox aren't doing a refresh...? 😅
They are focused on next gen
Dude give a proper review stop ranting about the price
PCMR = If you know, you know.
This thing should have been 550 or 600 max I was gonna get one because I don’t have a PS5 yet but the price is a big turn off I will stick with a slim
Star wars and Avatar run better on Ps5 then on Ps5 Pro enhanced... Ps5 Pro is the worst Playstation ever made.

Month by month and game by game the differences will increase. I didnt had a Ps5 so the Pro is nice choice, cause i can have a good library now of flat games and of course as a psvr lover, a good library of psvr2 games, some of them, blew me away.
Especially since some games don't play well on PS like you said

Thank you!
If you want the play anywhere all you need is the game pass and a controller, you only need the console for the disc based games.
Great video. Everything true and on the spot
Only reason i wanted the pro was 30th anniversary but scalpers took that away from me so i could care less now stay with ps5
That isn't how that works lol.
the difference is not noticeable simply because ps5 pro is not a 8k console, not like 8k gameplay console, even if it is then 8k is not standardized yet fully.
The ps3 slim was definitely the best looking console. W take
I play mostly on my series X, I still even play a little on my PS3 super slim.
Most games right now look worse on the Ps5 Pro

"My personal" opinion:
You can do whatever you want (with your money).
(the disc drive costs 119,- Euros sold separately)
For that amount of money I'd have expected the PS6 with completely new HW and a mind blowing never seen before performance.
The 2TB vs. the 1TB is worth a premium of 50,- Euros max.
That leaves another 300/319 Euros premium for what?
The same HW as before with a little bit of OC and implemented A.I., which (basically) doesn't even give us more raw performance.
With the Pro the 90's SONY slogan changed into: "It's a trick - its a SONY". 😅
Yes, I know, it's the same with the PC GPUs and yes, I know, the Pro is for us hardcore enthusiasts and not meant for everyone, but still... it's too expensive.
🫶 ... take care and have a wonderful Christmastime.
Stop saying no one is buying them dude... You literally just bought one! 😅
I got a PS5 pro on day 1 and went back to playing my Sega Saturn and Dreamcast the next day and haven't touched it since.
I miss playing NFL 2k on my Dreamcast so bad!
going from the ps5 to ps5 pro is like going from a rx 6700 to a rx 6800
I'm perfectly fine playing Mass Effect: Legendary Edition with my Xbox Series S on my 720p TV.
Slim is fine, Pro is a gimmick.
I do like the 30th anniversary edition.
I have an 8K tv with a 2.1 HDMI and YES YOU CAN SEE A DIFFERENCE BIG TIME!
I only got the pro because of storage but i agree the differences are very minimal and not worth the price tag i do think sony not including a disc drive and stand option, is a dick move and advertising the console as a pro version it should come with all the bells and whistles
It’s for gta6 that game is going to be on the ps5 pro for the next decade
I bought it too . And feel exactly the same as the reviewer is saying. It is very very expensive should've been 600 dollors max with the stand .
Also with 8k TV's coming out you'll notice that much more and with faster frame rates!
Jumping into it:
-As it is targeted to the most 'engaged players', my presumption would be most people would be trading there base PS5 for the PRO, knocking the net outlay for the console down to ~$400.
Is the Xbox series x that much better than the series s?
Duude, the PlayStation 5 pro looks worse than the PlayStation 5, this console is a scam!
False. You are confused
Many games even runt worse on the ps5 pro than on the ps5....
@@gabriel99nvno, your just gullible and blind🤣🤣
If they don't have good games at the launch of PS6 for $700? It's over between me and PlayStation. There is no going back.
Games like Dragons Dogma2 plays stable 4K 60fps on the pro. The pro machine prepare for the upcoming titles.
If there are no significant differences right now then there is no point buying PS5 Pro right now
$499 bs5 pro
$199 Concord tax.
The difference 100% depends on your tv
Once you get 60FPS there’s no going back and anything above 60 is icing on the cake 🎂
