Okay i accidentally deleted games.bin file on my usb when i was on my computer and wheN trying to load my ps2 in my dvd folder and opl on my ps2 will not load my games so how do i get the games.bin back on my usb from my fat ps2
Side note:- If after making vmc it gives memory files fregment error. Use defreggler software in windows to defregment the VMC folder in USB HDD/ pendrive. It works normally then. Try to make one VMC file of say 64 mb only with default name of generic_0.
For me, if I want different games to use the same vmc. I’d have to make sure that generic_0 is mounted and is selected for all games, otherwise I can’t use the same vmc for saving on different games.
I may make another tutorial video in the future explaining how to add a .elf program to your list when the PS2 boots. For now, just navigate into your thumbdrive and launch OPL using uLaunchELF (the thumbdrive will be the 'mass' directory).
Hello, I know this video is super old but if I have my FreeMB Card in Slot 1 and an MX4ISO in slot 2 with my SD card would I want to create a VMC on slot 2?
I use Winhiip to transfer my images to the Hard Drive, but since that makes it impossible to open from the PC until I initialize it from Disc Management. Now, I know I can still recover the PS2 format stuff, but will it delete the OPL folder I make if I do?
not sure what you're trying to do, but you cannot access a ps2 hdd from pc. you use winhip to format it and transfer games. if you want to transfer game art or access the partition, you need to do this from the ps2 using ulaunch elf. you can insert a usb stick with game art and transfer it to the art folder in the opl partition this way.
@@september2wenty8ight64I’m super confused as well. Do I put the fmcb card in slot 1 or 2? Can I still save to a real card? If I chose slot 1 and my fmcb card is in 1, does it save to that card?
Use .ISO format for any game loading medium (USB, SMB, or HDD). Keep in mind if you plan on loading from a HDD you will need to install these .ISO images using HDLdumb/HDLdump. Alternatively, you could use HDLoader to rip the games from their original DVDs or CDs. Refer to the OPL User Guide for more information.
How do you set it up for disc based games, all im getting is a menu no options for VMC plus i have no games on my flashdrive all i want is to set up a VMC for my disc based games one that i can browse from the main menu is this possible?
so... I still don't know what is this VMC and what is its purpose? I mean, virtual memory card, ok... does that mean it saves my game files in there, somehow? like cloud storage? that doesn't make any sense... also, the ps2 can read ps1 cd games alright, but to save your progress, you still need a ps1 memory card (why, Sony? just...why?)... does this vmc solves for that - while playing ps1 games via OPL and popstarter, I mean?
i have ps2 slim opl usb i had gone to settings and i changed HDD mode to auto and ETH mode to auto too and aplication mode to auto .. they all was off now my ps2 doesnt enter to the opl program to play any game. what should i do
Hi I ve recently installed Windows 8 and noticed a problem, all games said VMC is unformatted, tried in a Windows 7 computer and everything fine. Can anyone help me understading why this is happening
Thanks. There was no type of video explaining on how to save on games that would say "no memory card detected" question though. Where are the saves being stored if it's not the memory cards???
I put all of my game discs on HD loader and when I try to use a regular memory card, it saves the progress and then when I shut the game off and try to play again, it says the save info is bad and I have to start playing from the beginning! I've tried 3 different cards and same thing happens. I'm pissed.
Mine says VMC format failed when trying to create the file. I think you missed a step. I heard you need to mount the card in the uLE file browser. I just have not been able to find the info on how to do it. Please post if anyone knows. :)
if you let winhip format your hdd/sd then the default partition is 128mb and you will get the failed to format vmc error. to fix this, use ulaunchelf to access hdd manager, select +opl, hit r1 and expand the partition to at least 512mb. when you restart, go to create the vmc again and it should work.
10:32 You managed to fill your OPL partition with 8Mb files? How many did you create? BTW My version of PS2Loader is forcing me to have individual VMC files for each game
Wayne Templar, I have the same problem. I can't use 001 over and over just one number per game. Did you ever figure out if this is a problem? Does it work assigning a different number for each game? A reply would be much appreciated.
The way he is doing it, is a mistake on the part of FMCB on Version 1.8. Each game needs its own directory for where to save data. Let it use its generic name that it provides in the later versions of FMCB (1.9+) which i assume you are using. As long as you have the VMC file in your hard drive, OPL will take care of the rest. Hope this helps!
Can this work with the ps2 game discs as well other than the games that are installed on to the hard drive? Because I don't have a Sony PS2 Hard Drive just yet. And can you transfer the saved games from the flash drive to pc instead of having so many memory cards?
When my game attempts to save it says “save failed” I did all the step correctly. Should I move the fmcb card to slot 2 while I have the vmc to slot one?
So I have an HDD and opl already installed, you said about having to make a partition for it,if its already on there do I still need to do that? If not where do I put the VMC folder?
OMG, i did the same mistake and created a virtual memory card for each game xD well, luckily i haven't played that much, so i can go back and chose only one. Thanks a lot for the video man!
Bro, i just have a lot of doubts regarding opl. First in a shop i've installed opl software . And he given some games in the hard drive. Later on i've tried to put some games on my own. But when i copy the game to my hard drive it asked to replace the file "ul.cfg" when i replace. the previous games are gone they are not displaying... Plz help me. I was walking through the tutorial with you until i had to stop and ask a question after you rename the card it says size i have a 128 mb card in slot 2 the size only goes up to 64 mb should i leave it on 8 mb or should i change it to 64 mb the highest one...great video by the way

Hi, My friend installed a mod chip in my PS2 with the Toxic Logo and junk. I have a network adapter, HDD, Memory Card with Free McBoot along with a Flashdrive. I put HD Loader and OPL on the flash. I ripped a few games using HD Loader directly from the game discs. But OPL doesn't detect them, what did I miss?
Depending on the version of HDLoader you're using to rip these, OPL will not read them. You have to make sure it's a virgin 0.8 copy. If it has any custom logos, it will not work because it's been modified. I learned this the hard way. Easier to use HDLDumb and HDL Server elf and rip them from your comp instead. You can rip them to your computer in a few minutes and it will transfer to your HDD in about 10 min/Gb.
Thanks for the guide, it helped a bunch! I'm running my games off an IDE hard drive and I noticed that using VMC is significantly slower than using a real MC. I was wondering if VMC would be faster through a usb flash drive? Or if I can even use VMC through a usb flash drive while running games from my IDE drive? One last question: my hard drive is 5400 rpm, are you using a 7200 rpm drive and if so how fast do your games load compared to your MC? Thanks!
Maybe someone here can help me out, this video describes how you can save all your game saves to VMC with the name 001, it works for the first game (Nightfire) but all other games do not detect a memory card, my game save path is hdd0:/+OPL/VMC is this ok? or would I need to create a specific partition for VMC files? any help would be much appreciated 🙏🏻 I am in my 6th day of self-isolation after catching the Omicron and just want to get this out the way now while I have the time..😉

My OPL setting doesn't show "VMC set" menu..
I wonder why..
Is that mean my OPL doesn't support VMP or what?
Make sure that you have an OPL partition on your hard drive with a VMC folder inside.
And how do i do that
Please tell me how to do that @ziginox
