Just a side note...The Captain and Tennile were customers at a Walgreens I worked at here in Prescott, Arizona...talked to Toni several times in the store. After she and The Captain divorced, she returned to live here in Prescott...she is very active in community affairs...last fall she did a Hello Dolly play in our local community college...she is a really nice lady.

Hi Judy, thanks for another behind the scenes episode. Was that Fred Dryer in the race group picture? Been a fan of his since his Hunter television series days. How cool that you got to meet jazz titans Chick Corea and Stanley Clark. I host a contemporary jazz radio show in central California, and have been a jazz devotee for many years. I love the genre.
Yes, that is Fred Dryer and you may also recognize Robert Pine (CHiPs - and father of Chris Pine). Chick was one of the nicest, most genuine and incredibly talented artists.
Stanley Clarke. Wow, too funny. I have his album(of course, vinyl❤) the one that looked like the New York City subway tiles..I wanna say 42nd or Times Square. But I just remember the tile. 7:54- While performers may take booms for granted, this got invented by one of the earliest women directors Dorothy Arzner (1897-1979) who came up with it in 1929 when shooting 'The Wild Party' starring Clara Bow- a silent movie siren who had been used to moving around while performing and, at that time, microphones were awkwardly hidden on sets in flower pots, fruit bowls, etc. and required all the performers to hover around and speak at them. That was probably from a CBS 50th anniversary special in the late 70’s. An amazing collection of the greatest CBS stars over the years. But I know Dukes of Hazzard weren’t in that shot… so I’m not sure.
Great behind the scenes video. I really enjoyed hearing about all the singers you met. Are there any actors that weren't on your show that you met that you were excited to meet?

Loved the special effects to show your point. You've met some pretty good music legends from the 70s, many of which I enjoyed listening to as well. Loved the questions asked as well. That's all the really niddy gritty things that happen behinds the scenes and really interesting to know. It makes you think wow I didn't know that. That's so cool to know.
Good day. I am a big SG 1 fan and I seen the episode that you played in last night you sure are versatile. You have met so many musicians that I look up to
Thanks for sharing Judy…my family has been in the music business for decades …my aunt Judy Singh who passed away 2=years ago has stuff on UA-cam…she was involved with Lenny Breau they had a daughter together…through them I met quite a few music stars. It was interesting though brief. Music is such a part of my life and who I am…I think I like that about you a lot.
There we are again , a lot of people that you mentioned that brought back memories. Kenny Rodgers had a long time drummer by the name of Lynn Hamman. Lynn was two years behind me in high school and we shared the same swimming hole as kids. It was a small finger lake that was part of a ""Country Club" and I don't mean in the sense of Palm Springs. It had a 9 hole golf course, a lake for row boats, fishing, and one area set aside for swimming. There was also areas for camping, picnics and cookouts, and a play ground and a grass tennis court. There was also a beautiful clubhouse with a screened in wrap around porch with Adirondack chairs and tables, a interior party room with a huge fire place, a fully. functioning kitchen, a cloak room and storage room for tables and chairs. The basement held men's and wmen's showers and lockers. I believe the cost to join in the 50's was 360 dollars payable in installments of 30 dollars a month which gave you free use of everything. The clubhouse could also be rented for functions like weddings, birthdays, proms. etc We kids of the 60's spent our whole summers there and since Lynn's uncle was the caretaker and he had cousins his age there, I'd see Lynn quite often as I was a certified 'club rat' who didn't wait for a ride to go there. I pedaled six miles on my bike when I turned 12 so that i woud not miss out on the fun. We' camp out for days at a time, supplimenting out food stocks by diving for golf balls from the lake and selling them to the refreshment stand and golf and bait shop for eating money.i Speaking of people that you have met while working, Annie my daughter who was with me at the "meet and greet" in Lincoln, often gets off-season gigs to supplement her income from the Park District during the winter months usually as a "roadie' for groups like the Blue Man Group and "Welcome to Nightvale" . She got a job in San Francisco miking the guest speakers who were to speak at this symposium in San Francisco on Success in Business. One of the guests was Prince Harry who commented on her smile, but that did not impress her nearly as much as a person that you worked with many years ago and briefly danced with in one episode. Instead of an entourage like most of these people had, he came in by himself , dressed like he just accidently walked into this red carpet affair, and afterward came up to Annie and sheepishly said that he failed to arrange a ride to his hotel and asked Annie if she could contact someone for a ride. Which she did and wa completely taken aback at how friendly and easy going he was. Can you guess who he is without looking? Answer: Ron Howard
Well thank you Holly. Well I can describe it because from the age of 12 until I married at 25, I lived at the country club almost every summer. I rode my bike there and back. If my friends had not shown, I would shoot 9 or 18 holes of golf. Then with my friends, swim in the lake, playing ball tag with a tennis ball. You had to throw the ball and hit your targeted person and if missed, swim for the ball. Also the was unique for what it had. There was a wooden raft supported by barrels in the middle of the swim area where a person could rest or sunbathe. It rode high in the water so you could swim underneath it with air space to pop up and hide. Also a lot of fun if you could get a girl to hide with you !! It had a platform with a springboard at one end of the swimming area and a three and ten meter board at the other. These were all made of wood. The diving platform was a tall tower made of huge telephone poles that with the hand rails was 13 feet in the air. There were decks at the 3 meter and 10 meter board level that could hold six or seven kids at a time. Access from the water was by a wooden ladder and from the shore by a wooden ramp to the 3 meter board and then the ladder to the top. nk The whole tower was sunk in the mud of the lake. If we got enough kids on it we could make it rock. I'd swim until 5:00 or so and ride my bike back the six miles to home, in time for supper. UNLESS The parents gave us permission to CAMP. Then there would be six or seven of us who would either sleep under the stars wit h just a blanket and a fire, sleep in tents, or if the weather threatened, my folkw owned a primitive cabin (no water, outhouse toilet) we could use. We would be up most of tthe night skinny dipping, fishing, or eating around the campfire and staying as long as our parents would let us, subsisting on watermelons, PBand J. and sandwiches we would buy with golf balls fished out of the water hazards on the golf course. Unfortunately, the club is no longer. Our town lost a lot of people when the mines closed and dues were not covering expenses. Someone bought the property and now it is just a forest and fields. @@hollyavillella554
@@billgrandone3552 What wonderful memories! Our city had such a place ~ not with swimming or golf, but a Singing Society/Dinner Club owned a property in the country. There was a shelter that had a bar and hot dogs, chips, simple foods, shuffleboard, a pool table, a playground for children, picnic tables, and a covered pavilion for the band to play and people could dance. A neighborhood friend invited me once to go with her family and I thought it was the most wonderful place in the forest. Later our family joined the club for a time and we had picnics there and our children played all day. By that time, the club was on its last legs. There was a DJ instead of an orchestra. The club has since closed and both properties were sold. There was a small lagoon area where some of the men fished. By the height of the cattails you could tell Fall soon would begin. I imagine those summer evenings camping under the stars and gathering sticks for a campfire were lovely. 🏕️
Those were great questions and I learned a lot by listening. I would have loved to have met Charley Pride, he had one of the greatest voices. Loved your Illustration of the boom mike and the lighting. That was cool. A question I have has nothing to do with acting at all. What type of tree or bush is in the room where you film these vids which from your perspective while seated would be to your left beginning at the end of the window and reaching to the other wall. Is it a bamboo tree? I love seeing it. Thanks, Judy.
That was fun hearing about all the famous people you have been in contact with one way or another. I also enjoyed seeing the Boom come into view haha and all the changes to the lighting that was added to your post on this episode. Mood definitely plays a roll and lighting would certainly help that. Thanks for another informative wonderful episode 😊 Erin, Renfrew Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
*Kia ora (hello) Judy, thanks again for making these video's whilst the strike continues on in the USA. I am enjoying hearing more about you and your younger years... as it is so much better to hear it all from your lips rather than any media outlets getting the facts wrong and spreading any lies that they hear along the way. nz*
Such a clever video showing us the boom operator and changing the lighting to demonstrate choices that give a show its character. I think The Walton's cinematographer especially The Homecoming and first two seasons captured and held the audience's attention as if to say: Look! Here is an important story. I don't recall other TV shows that had such lighting, etc. I can't believe all the music people you met and socialized with! Two that stood out to me were Sir Elton John, of course! Wowza! And, Chick Corea! He is very popular with friends who improvised piano. That's how I learned of him. It's refreshing how much of a "fan" you are among your fellow Thespians and Musicians! I love The Fifth Dimension and very much admire the two you mentioned and Florence LaRue ~ such a terrific alto she is!! You have lived such an interesting life, Judy! It's fun to hear your stories. When you mentioned contracts' légalisé I thought of John Boy and the vanity publishing incident! It takes a keen lawyer to be able to pinpoint exactly which fine print might pose a difficulty! Looking forward to whatever you next share! Have a lovely weekend! 🧡💐🎶
I'm honestly in awe of your opportunity to meet Ted Nugent. A brilliant, in my opinion, pro USA political mind and very well spoken especially on Second Amendment and other aspects of the Constitution and Declaration. Lucky you indeed!
Hello Judy! What a great episode! It's wonderful you were able to meet all those music stars especially those who have passed on. Kenny Roger's must have been great. You named so many but Kenny was one of my favorites. Thank you so MUCH!! Have a Wonderful weekend!!🥰
Hi Judy, thank you firstly for continuing this series by focusing on your life and career. My question, similar to the one today on singers you've met, is: Are their any actors you've had the opportunity to meet either through being in the cast with them or that gave you some advice or encouragement on your career? Thanks again.
Hi Judy. Have you ever meet Paul Reubens aka Pee-wee Herman? Wow! You sure have met a lot of interesting people. Kenny Rogers's song "Lady" is a very romantic song, as you know. Have you heard this song in concert before?
I watch the show every on the weekdays at my daughter's house when I am babysitting. They have antenna for the playroom and I have satellite at my house and don't get it there anymore. I was getting it on insp but they discontinued it for some reason. Anyway, I watched the episode today where the grampa had a heart attack and gave up on life. The family made him a bedroom in a tent with some of his favorite things around him and he eventually came around to his old self. One of my favorite episodes. I guess my least favorite episodes were the ones where the sons were in the military. I enjoyed the family all at home with day to day activities.
As I was listening to all the music people you had met along the way, for whatever reason, a thought came through my mind. I wondered if you ever got to do the Jerry Lewis Telethon? Thank you Judy.
@@judynorton2598 would you normally get to sing on the telethons you were on or take a time slot as the host? Thank you for always being so good about answering all the questions. 😀
@@rhondareynolds5589 I did sing on a couple. Some I was one of the celebrities answering phones and taking the pledges. Usually I would be "interviewed" for at least a few seconds.
Interesting episode Judy. I always remember Cloris Leachman being billed as “special guest star” on The Mary Tyler Moore show. I assume that was done because she had previously won an Oscar.
the Walton's had both the best guest stars as well as the greatest lesser known actors in supporting roles, i really enjoyed seeing these photos and hearing your stories of the past, i hope you are doing well and you are very Beautiful, Thank You very much Judy.😊👍
Wow great questions - it’s a lot to think about - I enjoyed the boom and lighting changes 😂 great addition. You have done such a variety of things, it’s brilliant hearing about them. So other than acting / singing roles - it would be great to hear a bit more about any bucket list adventures you have still to tick off :)
I remember Robert Pine from CHiPs. There was an episode with a charity event that had a LOT of celebrities as themselves. Was there any Walton's actors that you know of in that episode? Did you do any Battle of the Network Stars?
Have you heard your character’s neighbor sing? Oliver Anthony. He’s from FarmVille a mere hour from Schuyler. And people don’t think he’s Appalachian. He is. Very much. What a talent.
He’s the latest music sensation. Appears to have come from out of nowhere. Raw talented country picking. His song Virginia is truly amazing. But that’s not the one that hit Number 1. Earl Hamner would have appreciated this without a doubt. I thought of you guys when I realized his actual geographic location. Best wishes.
I love to watch old game shows on Game Show network or Buzzr. I've seen you on a few game shows like Password, etc. Did you like doing game show, and how did you prepare for those appearences? Did you have a favorite?
Hi Judy, these segments are terrific. Thank you once again for doing it. I hope the writers/actors strike ends soon. I can imagine a lot of people in the industry are feeling the pinch from the loss of work, yet at the same time I support the strike because exploitation does not serve anyone. Question for you: I always wondered how actors deal with difficult situations on a set - say a worker or anyone giving the actor a hard time in some way. How do you manage that conflict since you are basically stuck with them. I can imagine it's no different than any other job but is it considering how public the situation is. Thanks!
Thanks for your support of the strike. As for personality conflicts, I think each person deals with it in their own way. I tend to stay quiet and only deal with the person while on set filming. I’ve heard stories of actors on shows that won’t be filmed at the same time, so they have to shoot them separately and then edit it together.
I was watching Stars Un The House with W. & LHOP. They showed a clip where you were roller skating, a competing show with celebs. You were really fast, kicking serious butt. I loved roller skating and waa fast but had trouble braking, stopping after running into the wall. Wish I was more athletic like you & Mary E. My SIL Renae is, you'd get along great. Take Care. Iam dealing with pneumonia after having Covid 1.5 wks. ago. Hoping to give back to work Mon. ❤ Rebecca & 😻
@judynorton2598 I can't stand go as fast now that's am older. Not as limber as I once was. When I was little, I was determined to put my skates on myself since I was a nig girl now but got them on the wrong feet so Mom had to stop me so she could put yhem on right Thank you for caring.🥰
You never met Johnny Carson? Ellen Corbey was the only Walton that he had on to interview on the tonight show? I'm suprised he didn't ever have you and the others on during when the Waltons was on throughout the 70s
Hello Nora. I have a silly question. No one ever talks about mowing the yard. I lived out in the country, and it was an always-there fact of life --- mowing, weedeating, etc. The grass in the front yard always looks great, but no one talks about it. I remember one mention of mowing for Grandpa's tent when he had the heart attack. Thank you for your LOVELY channel! Hugs.
I suppose the way to meet famous people would be to loiter in places where they are likely to appear. In Australia that would be the Opera House in Sydney. The most famous person I have met is former prime minister, John Howard, who visited my area during an election campaign, SM Au

Glad you are enjoying these.
Thanks again for sharing judy always a pleasure hearing these
🥰
👍
Good day. I am a big SG 1 fan and I seen the episode that you played in last night you sure are versatile. You have met so many musicians that I look up to
Thank you. I loved doing SG 1
How wonderful for you to be surrounded by music.
The clubhouse could also be rented for functions like weddings, birthdays, proms. etc
We kids of the 60's spent our whole summers there and since Lynn's uncle was the caretaker and he had cousins his age there, I'd see Lynn quite often as I was a certified 'club rat' who didn't wait for a ride to go there. I pedaled six miles on my bike when I turned 12 so that i woud not miss out on the fun. We' camp out for days at a time, supplimenting out food stocks by diving for golf balls from the lake and selling them to the refreshment stand and golf and bait shop for eating money.i
Speaking of people that you have met while working, Annie my daughter who was with me at the "meet and greet" in Lincoln, often gets off-season gigs to supplement her income from the Park District during the winter months usually as a "roadie' for groups like the Blue Man Group and "Welcome to Nightvale" .
This was wonderful to read! You described the club and grounds so well!
UNLESS
The parents gave us permission to CAMP.
What fun stories. Thanks for sharing. Your camp sounds wonderful.
@@judynorton2598 Drusilla's pond on steroids! Wish you could have been there.
Wow! You’ve met alot of great singers! 😮 😄. Thank you again for sharing! Always love this. Look forward to the next one.
Thanks for watching.
Glad you are enjoying these. My foliage is a bamboo tree :)
Glad you are still doing behind the scenes. I am doing catch up ball here.
Glad you are enjoying all of these.
That was fun hearing about all the famous people you have been in contact with one way or another.
I also enjoyed seeing the Boom come into view haha and all the changes to the lighting that was added to your post on this episode.
Mood definitely plays a roll and lighting would certainly help that.
Thanks for another informative wonderful episode 😊

Glad you enjoyed it!
*Kia ora (hello) Judy, thanks again for making these video's whilst the strike continues on in the USA. I am enjoying hearing more about you and your younger years... as it is so much better to hear it all from your lips rather than any media outlets getting the facts wrong and spreading any lies that they hear along the way. nz*
Thank you so much.
So glad you enjoyed all this. These opportunities to meet talented people never get old to me :)
Judy what a life you've had! Feel lucky to know you!
Thanks Steve! Hope your summer is going well.
That was fun and enjoyable❤❤❤
So glad. Thanks.
thanks for continuing to make new content for us to enjoy judy :)
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
I'm honestly in awe of your opportunity to meet Ted Nugent. A brilliant, in my opinion, pro USA political mind and very well spoken especially on Second Amendment and other aspects of the Constitution and Declaration. Lucky you indeed!
Wish I’d had more chance to talk with him.
Hello Judy! What a great episode! It's wonderful you were able to meet all those music stars especially those who have passed on. Kenny Roger's must have been great. You named so many but Kenny was one of my favorites. Thank you so MUCH!! Have a Wonderful weekend!!🥰
It was such a treat to meet all of them.
keep the clips coming
Thank you.
Hi Judy, thank you firstly for continuing this series by focusing on your life and career. My question, similar to the one today on singers you've met, is: Are their any actors you've had the opportunity to meet either through being in the cast with them or that gave you some advice or encouragement on your career? Thanks again.
Not sure about them giving me any advice, but I’ve worked with and met in passing some really talented folks.
Hi Judy. Have you ever meet Paul Reubens aka Pee-wee Herman? Wow! You sure have met a lot of interesting people. Kenny Rogers's song "Lady" is a very romantic song, as you know. Have you heard this song in concert before?
I never did meet Paul Reubens. I have heard Kenny Roger’s sing Lady in concert. Beautiful song.
Thank you for continuing to watch.
As I was listening to all the music people you had met along the way, for whatever reason, a thought came through my mind. I wondered if you ever got to do the Jerry Lewis Telethon?
Thank you Judy.
I did do a number of telethons, but I don’t think I ever had a chance to do the Jerry Lewis one.
Love
Okay.. the clip-art boom mic
And it's floating appearance.. completely unexpected absolutely funny.
Glad you had fun with that :)
😆
Judy, do you ever get approached to do a comedic part in a sitcom? If so, I would give it a watch just because you're in it. Just curious...
I have not, although I’ve done comedy on stage.
That was suprising when the screen got dark a little bit
Hi
Judy power woman
Godloveyou much
Wow
Racing against celebrites is a treat. I'm sure you've always ran fast
Interesting episode Judy. I always remember Cloris Leachman being billed as “special guest star” on The Mary Tyler Moore show. I assume that was done because she had previously won an Oscar.
I’m guessing a way to give special attention to her credit since it wasnt’ the first one shown.
Meeting Fred Dryer would be really cool! I have Been an odd ball East Coast (Jacksonville) Rams fan since 1976.
Cool :)
Somehow I didn't my notifications and turned on now to catch up.hi from lutz Florida USA
HI! Glad you found the segments despite the notification not working.
the Walton's had both the best guest stars
as well as the greatest lesser known actors
in supporting roles, i really enjoyed seeing
these photos and hearing your stories of
the past, i hope you are doing well and you
are very Beautiful, Thank You very much Judy.😊👍
Thank you very much.
Thanks so much!
Great video today Judy... do you have any pets? (just curious) ;-)
Glad you enjoyed this. My only pet currently is a horse.
How about Ask Judy Bloopers sometime. Bloopers of your behind the scenes in which you have to start all over again lol?
I’ve been gathering some to share.
I remember Robert Pine from CHiPs. There was an episode with a charity event that had a LOT of celebrities as themselves. Was there any Walton's actors that you know of in that episode? Did you do any Battle of the Network Stars?
I’m not sure who was in that charity event episode. I did do 3 episodes of Battle of the Network Stars.
@@judynorton2598 Thanks.
Have you heard your character’s neighbor sing? Oliver Anthony. He’s from FarmVille a mere hour from Schuyler. And people don’t think he’s Appalachian. He is. Very much. What a talent.
I am not familiar with him.
I really enjoyed doing game shows. Usually I prepared by watching the game as much as possible to get a feel for how to play.
@@judynorton2598 Did the game shows themselves offer any prep
Hi Judy, these segments are terrific. Thank you once again for doing it. I hope the writers/actors strike ends soon. I can imagine a lot of people in the industry are feeling the pinch from the loss of work, yet at the same time I support the strike because exploitation does not serve anyone.
Question for you:
I always wondered how actors deal with difficult situations on a set - say a worker or anyone giving the actor a hard time in some way.
Geffen Records is part of Warner Bros. he must have been in CA to sign with the company at the time
How do you find an agent if you are an actor? What percentage of pay do they receive once an actor gets a part?
Agents often come through recommendations from fellow actors, teachers etc. They typically get 10% of the actor’s gross pay.
Hi Judy! Great to see you!❤
Thank you!
Get well fast!!! Take care of yourself so you can get back out there skating again!
No, I never got to meet Johnny Carson.
Hello Judy.Enjoyed your segments on different scenes and celebrities and events you did during your time on The Waltons and beyond .😉 Good luck 👍
Thank you.
Hugs.
Good point. I think I remember Ralph mowing the lawn in a scene.
Wow. I love Chick Corea.
He was very special. What an amazing talent and a genuinely kind, caring person.
I suppose the way to meet famous people would be to loiter in places where they are likely to appear. In Australia that would be the Opera House in Sydney. The most famous person I have met is former prime minister, John Howard, who visited my area during an election campaign, SM Au
True… hangin out at stage doors you will sometimes have the chance to meet folks. :)
