I wanted to tell you how much "The Waltons," helped me as a a young girl growing up in the 1970s. You did a great job acting Judy, very believable. Thank you for your work on this channel.
Oh wow Tony Dow and Hugh Beaumont from Leave it To Beaver, some of the real classics. Loved that show. I love watching these episodes and you name drop some people you've worked with and I just get so excited because it's actors or actresses I've watched and loved watching and it never gets old getting excited hearing it. 🙂
I also noticed how the music on the show changed especially when the character of Drew was introduced I think in season 7 or 8 and I remember mentioning this before in an earlier comment over a year ago. Getting a role without auditioning must be wonderful, very similar to me getting my first job without an interview back in the mid 80's, boy those were the days. Thank you Judy for todays segment and best wishes to you from your waltonian superfan in a cold England brrrr😉
Judy I'm from Morgantown Wv and the Waltons were such a big part of my life. I remember thinking of when the Waltons were coming on tv that night. I had such a crush on you as a young man I was 11 when the Waltons started and when I was 15 I just loved you I remember telling my mother that I was going to marry you someday. Lol . Your such a great actress may God bless you and your family. Thank you for all the memories.
Yes lake view is still here it's one of the prestige golf country clubs in the tri-state area . back in 86 Lakeview had so much more going on . I just don't know how I missed you being here . If we could only turn back time Judy I loved growing up in almost heaven West Virginia.
I really love the new opening starting with season 5, it is tge show preview that changes the last frame into a sketch and freezes the frame...priceless! I think it started with The Fledging, which may have been along with the glory high ratings run for many years! Thank you Judy!
You've worked with a lot of great actors in many different venues! Richard Chamberlain is my other favorite "Richard!" I'm old enough (boo hoo) to remember Dr Kildare ~ handsome!! And, my goodness ~ The Thorn birds ~ whew ! What a story! Barbara Stanwyck was an amazing villainess! I recently watched her perform as Stella Dallas, a very complex role! Her performance broke my heart! Amazing! Judy, do you think you would like to tour with a theater company as Richard Thomas is doing with Mockingbird? I can't imagine the stamina required to deliver hundreds of performances! As regards the Walton's music ~ the series' theme song has to be one of the most recognizable songs ever written. For me, though, I loved The Homecoming music best! There have been times, I listened to the opening sequence music again and again to lift my spirits. What was the series you performed with Richard Chamberlain? Is it available online anywhere? He, too, strikes me as a very kind and considerate, humble person! Maybe he can be an honorary Walton! ❤☺️Lots of love to you and Walton's everywhere! 🙏🌐🕊️
I think I would enjoy doing a tour, especially if I loved the role. The mini-series I worked on with Richard Chamberlain is The Lost Daughter. I’m not sure if it’s available anywhere.
@@judynorton2598 I hope you get a chance to tour then! You could write your own show! You know all of us here would be first in line for tickets if your show is anywhere near us! I saw Hal Holbrook in his one-man Mark Twain Show! He was wonderful! I like his voice and demeanor so much! I wish I could have seen Julie Harris in her Emily Dickinson show! I hope you get the chance! 🧡💐
I always loved the Waltons....I grew up in the 70's and connected with the simple humble loving country family life theme of the series....may I add that I also had a crush on your character....your PB pics are beautiful as well...you are a wonderful/beautiful person...luv your stuff....keep up the great work!
The original theme in the beginning of The Waltons is absolutely the best of all times. Also loved the theme on the Christmas movie The Homecoming. ❤❤😊😊

Thank you Judy! I always wondered why the credits added "as The Grandfather" for Will Geer, but nothing for Ellen Corby. It's great to hear you are still active and continue performing!!

I agree with markogle1949. Wonderful how you have seized these opportunities & I believe those to come. On one of my family's many camping trips, as a child, we detoured to New York city as Dad had surprised us to see The Sound of Music with Mary Martin. My heart leaped with tears as she opened on the mountain top to sing. Years later (as adult) I saw her in Chicsgo in the play "I do, I do".She was fabulous. I have an empathetic heart partly due to the Waltons. Thankyou for that and this series!! Keep the episodes coming. Im doing an all day viewing of the episodes!
In the 80's, I was in the chorus of Annie at a local theater. We were in a scene at Daddy Warbucks' mansion when a ceramic statue fell off a bookshelf onto the floor and the head fell off and rolled center stage, and kept rolling and rolling in circles. We all lost it in uncontrollable laughter - it was so funny. I think Sandy the dog was laughing too. That ceramic head upstaged everybody!
Judy, The question about the change in background music in Season 9 was asked recently on The Waltons Forum, and a forum member posted this: “There was a musicians strike in Hollywood in 1980, and Alexander Courage was part of the guild, so he couldn’t score the shows during the strike. So the Lorimar shows had to use stock music for the first part of the 1980-81 season. I agree, it’s jarring. You’ll find the same issue with “Knots Landing”, “Dallas”, and “Eight is Enough” during that period. Fortunately, the strike was settled and the regular music returns in the second half of season 9.”
Happy Monday, Judy!! All your shows sound like so much fun! I did not know that Mary Martin was Larry Hagmans mother, but I do remember her and seeing clips from Peter Pan. I learn so much from these videos. Thank you so MUCH, Judy!!🥰
I never worked with celebrities, but I got to do "Love Letters", and "Same Time, Next Year", with my husband. Still , I envy your career, and all the celebs you have worked with!
Amazing & adventuresome experience you have, Judy! So much more beyond The Waltons than I knew. Plus, even among the few colleagues you’ve mentioned here, you’ve worked with many “greats”. Though I expect they & others appreciate you, too. (And riding so soon after giving birth!? You are game!) Larry Linville, as one “great”, gave such an indelible performance on MASH. The Frank character could’ve been so flat & not funny without his quirky & distinctive choices. I was surprised once when reading about Mr. Linville this year he was Will Geer’s son-in-law during the first years of The Waltons! Thanks again for bringing us views of your career & I think well-loved life!
Judy, this was very interesting. All the roles you have played, actors you have worked with and talking of funny incidents which occur in productions as well as in real life. Thank you. I hope the SAG-AFTRA strike ends soon for everyone’s sake. One thing I have realized is that I will never watch another staged event the same way again. I never quite connected with the stories behind the story I was watching. Keep up the good work here until you can go back to the other work.
I think of the many actresses on the show Miss Emily and Miss Mame are endearing. A bygone generation dealing with a then modern day. Living in the past, poor Miss Emily . Regards to Richard, hope he’s doing well.🇺🇸
You were already elevated in my book, you just went over the edge (like that little guy in that Price is Right game) you worked with Tony Dow? I miss that guy. Leave it to Beaver was my favorite show growing up. I still watch it today.
Well I did not realise that Larry Hagman was Mary Martin’s son - I ove it when the cast engage with the audience when something goes wrong. I saw a comedy in London and the lead forgot his line totally and started to laugh, setting everyone off 😂 he had to shout to the audience to be quiet so he could get back on track (but he was still laughing himself) but that just made everyone laugh even more. It look a good few minutes but they got back on track and he had the biggest cheer at the end of the show. You have worked with some amazing people. A very blessed career ❤
Hi Judy. Always enjoy how your show was made and how involved you are with fellow cast mates. Gunsmoke comes on after The Walton's and saw that Harry Harris directed many of those episodes
Quite the roster of actors you have had the pleasure to work with - and your pleasure certainly shows through as you talk about them! I would love to see some of the TV work you mentioned - I will try to see if Valentine is streaming anywhere...what is the name of the miniseries with Richard Chamberlain? What a riot - your story about Larry Linville - so different from his character on Mash (one of my favorite shows!). When you talk about the whole cast (and the audience) laughing about a "mistake" and it doesn't "ruin" the show, it brought to mind the Carol Burnett show - I used to love when that happened with Harvey Corman and Tim Conway. Sometimes you just have to go with it!
Hi Judy, Yes, I was curious why the music changed in the Waltons episodes as time went by.On stage was different when you messed up on your lines.I would adlib when I was in plays.Judy, you're a special actress. I'm sure there's always acting opportunities for you.
Off topic question for you Judy. In 1976 John Boy appeared in a couple episodes where he was using a cane which they said were from a motorcycle incident. I’m sure that really wasn’t the case. Do you recall if Richard really injured his is leg, how or was this really just part of these couple episodes? I watched the episode today with Merle Haggard. That must have been a special treat for Jon Walmsley. Thank you!
Yes, Richard had broken his ankle while filming a movie about a huge James Dean fan. He had a bad motorcycle accident. So he needed the cane for a few episodes and limped a bit for a while. Yes, Jon loved working with Merle Haggard.
@@judynorton2598 Thank you for the response. I’ve kinda been watching the Walton reruns ever since Covid hit since I was forced to work from home. The earlier years are by far my favorites when all you kids were young. I have to admit there are still some episodes that bring a tear or two to my eyes. I saw some of the cast held reunions in Schuyler VA. I’m down that way ever fall for an off-road motorcycle event. I also take a street motorcycle with me and do a long ride and had planned on heading to Schuyler. I did some research and saw the Hamner house was sold and no longer doing tours. It had become a B&B. I kick myself for never attending one of the reunions but I didn’t know they existed. Again, thank you.
Judy I’m enjoying your videos. On your resent vacation to Canada 🇨🇦, were you recognized? I’m sure you are recognized as Mary Ellen. Are you ever tempted to reply, Mary Ellen was played by my twin sister and we often gets called each other? 😂😂😂😂😂
I was only recognized once that I was aware of. Sometimes I “look familiar” but someone can’t place me, or when they find out who I am then they recognize me. Never said I had a twin.
Watched the episode "The House" the other day. I noticed toward the beginning that Miss Mamie said her full name. I guess her middle name was their mother's maiden name. I can't remember the name now. I'll have to watch it again.
Great stories. Love when the 4th wall gets broken off script like that in a comedy, because it can work, it's funny and audiences love it. What a great bunch of folks you've worked with. How long did you have to write the replacement for Love Letters? Sounds like a sweet story.
was Larry Hagman easy to work with? was Larry Linville alot of fun to work with. Linville always made me laugh on Mash. I'm really enjoying these videos. Plz keep them coming Your Awesome Judy. God Bless and take care.
Wow working with so many! I really liked Hough Beaumont and Tony Doy from Leave It To Beaver. I still watch that show along with The Waltons and Mash. Thank you Ms Judy for sharing about your acting career. God's speed.
Judy, regarding the change in music for season 9, I could be wrong, but I seem to remember something about a strike which prohibited the composition of new music, so it was decided to use stock music which was unaffected by the strike. This lasted about halfway through the season. Still, I could be wrong, but that’s what I recall. Thanks!
Hi enjoy your videos. Was there any talk about a spin off and if so who would it have been included? Also after Stanley and rose got married was there any info on where they lived .did they move etc? I know in one special she worked for Paul dad. Thank you
Do you remember the place in BC where you went to ride horses? I ask because when I moved to BC in 1998 I worked at a ranch that rented horses call Beach Grove stables in Delta southwest of Vancouver on the Ladner Trunk rd. Slim chance but possible 🤞
Hello Judy could you please answer a question for me? Was there an episode with Hobie shanks before the braggart? I remember in episode of him staying with The Walton's while he was still in the the boys home. Thank you 🙂
This is a popular question lately! There was no episode before the Braggart with Hobie Shanks visiting from the orphanage! There is an episode a few after where a little boy named Stevie was sent to visit the Walton's BY Hobie Shanks who is working at the orphanage. Stevie ends up being adopted by a couple who can't have children. I think that this episode which is called "The Fulfillment" is really throwing a lot of people off, thinking that it is Hobie as a little boy. There is another episode in season two where a little boy named Luke is staying with the Waltons while his father looks for work in the city. This episode is called "The Ghost Story." We only ever see Hobie Shanks as an adult- never as a little boy. He does talk about staying with the Waltons as a kid, but we never see Hobie other than in "The Braggart.'" Hope this clears this up! Sorry to horn in and answer the question in place of Judy, but I love everything having to do with the Waltons!
I don't know why this was in my UA-cam feed because I don't watch The Waltons, but I've seen you on the old game show channels and had to comment how you still look the same except for the grey hair. You are aging well! 😊

That is so funny. Those moments are priceless.
Judy, The question about the change in background music in Season 9 was asked recently on The Waltons Forum, and a forum member posted this:
“There was a musicians strike in Hollywood in 1980, and Alexander Courage was part of the guild, so he couldn’t score the shows during the strike.
Oh wow. Thanks for that extra info.
Thank you too! You also made my day by answering a question of mine! 😊You and your show have become so successful because you really care!!
Thank you for your question.
What a lovely career you have and have had. Meeting wonderful people working with great actors and actresses. You are so amazing ❤
Couldn't agree more! I’ve been so fortunate.

Happy Monday, Judy!! All your shows sound like so much fun! I did not know that Mary Martin was Larry Hagmans mother, but I do remember her and seeing clips from Peter Pan. I learn so much from these videos. Thank you so MUCH, Judy!!🥰
I like all the old shows! Nothing good or decent on these days!
So glad you enjoy these videos.
I never worked with celebrities, but I got to do "Love Letters", and "Same Time, Next Year", with my husband. Still , I envy your career, and all the celebs you have worked with!
I bet that was a great adventure.
Have you ever eaten at Musso & Frank's Grill on Hollywood Boulevard?
Years ago I did.
Thanks Judy. 📺 I could listen to you reminisce about your adventures in t.v. and the theatre all day. 🎭
Thank you so much.
The Waltons Love Judy my favorite one fan Big 💖⭐️
🥰
I didn't know that Larry Hagman was Mary Martins son. I do remember her in Peter Pan though. Great episode ✌
So glad you enjoyed it.
Larry Hagman was a great guy....
Hugh Beaumont! Wow What A Amazing Person.
He was great.
Tony Dow was a nice man. Him and Jerry Mathers were close friends all the way till the end.
You are game!)
Larry Linville, as one “great”, gave such an indelible performance on MASH. The Frank character could’ve been so flat & not funny without his quirky & distinctive choices. I was surprised once when reading about Mr. Linville this year he was Will Geer’s son-in-law during the first years of The Waltons!
Thanks again for bringing us views of your career & I think well-loved life!
I’ve been so fortunate and had so much fun over the course of my career.
Thank you. So glad you are enjoying these.
Wow….what a great life you’re living. Any plans of writing an autobiography in the future? I bet it would be an amazing read.
Thanks for the thought. 😊 I have no plans to write a book.
What six people would you absolutely like to work with (they can be living or not). This could be a play, a movie or musical.
Fascinating question.
Thankyou Judy loving every episode you are certainly a passionate, clever, thoughtful actress and person.
Thank you so much.
I think of the many actresses on the show Miss Emily and Miss Mame are endearing. A bygone generation dealing with a then modern day. Living in the past, poor Miss Emily .
Regards to Richard, hope he’s doing well.🇺🇸
I loved the characters of the Baldwin Sisters and the actresses who played them made them so memorable.
That snap shot of Judy on stage will you leave you a bit breathless… 😇
😊
;)
That's neat about Leave it to Beaver, a show I still love watching!
I treat to work with them.
You were already elevated in my book, you just went over the edge (like that little guy in that Price is Right game) you worked with Tony Dow? I miss that guy. Leave it to Beaver was my favorite show growing up. I still watch it today.
Tony was a lovely, kind man. I loved working with him.
Thank you for taking another page out of the scrapbook of your life. So fun. Mary
What a lovely way to phrase it.
Hi Judy. Thanks again. I'm looking forward to hearing about your upcoming projects. 😊
Thank you.
Larry Linville make little airplanes on the set of MASH and flew them around.
He was such fun.
I think it would be awesome if you wrote a two women comedy for you and Mary, I think you two could play off of each other brilliantly
That would be fun.
Very interesting, love hearing behind the scenes, thank you for sharing .❤
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
I love this …. So fun and uplifting. Also, love your hair color!
Thank you so much.
Well I did not realise that Larry Hagman was Mary Martin’s son -
I ove it when the cast engage with the audience when something goes wrong.
What fun for the audience. Glad it was a comedy :)
Having fun weekend
Judy friends and family and wow Godloveyou much
Anson Williams played good on Happy Days. My aunt had a super crush on him growing up.
Hi Judy. Always enjoy how your show was made and how involved you are with fellow cast mates. Gunsmoke comes on after The Walton's and saw that Harry Harris directed many of those episodes
Very cool. We really did get to work great writers and directors who were the journeymen of television of those decades.
Hi
Judy show cooking
Video again
Wow
The mini-series with Richard Chamberlain was The Lost Daughter. No idea if it’s available anywhere.
Hi Judy loved hearing about this
Thanks for watching.
Hi Judy, Yes, I was curious why the music changed in the Waltons episodes as time went by.On stage was different when you messed up on your lines.I would adlib when I was in plays.Judy, you're a special actress. I'm sure there's always acting opportunities for you.
Glad you have had a chance to do theatre as well. Always an adventure :)
Happy New Year
2024
Wow
Bill Daley also did The Bob Newhart Show. Another great show.
Aha! Thanks for the reminder.

Again, looking fresh. The hair ,the soft tones, Not to much just right. You get another "How u doin" . Keep it up. 😉
😊 thank you
Your look so pretty in this video. Your hair is different, and it’s so pretty (not that it wasn’t before)! Love Mary Ellen!
Thank you :)
Watched the episode "The House" the other day. I noticed toward the beginning that Miss Mamie said her full name. I guess her middle name was their mother's maiden name. I can't remember the name now. I'll have to watch it again.
Cool - I didn’t realize that either.
Hi Judy
Sweet heart
Great stories. Love when the 4th wall gets broken off script like that in a comedy, because it can work, it's funny and audiences love it. What a great bunch of folks you've worked with. How long did you have to write the replacement for Love Letters? Sounds like a sweet story.
Thank you. I’ve had so many great experiences. I think I had a month or two to write that. Hardest thing I’ve ever written.
was Larry Hagman easy to work with? was Larry Linville alot of fun to work with. Linville always made me laugh on Mash. I'm really enjoying these videos. Plz keep them coming Your Awesome Judy. God Bless and take care.
Both Larry’s were a lot of fun. I didn’t get to work with Larry Hagman very long.
Wow working with so many! I really liked Hough Beaumont and Tony Doy from Leave It To Beaver. I still watch that show along with The Waltons and Mash. Thank you Ms Judy for sharing about your acting career.
God's speed.
Thank you so much. They were both great to work with.
Bill Daily was funny on the Bob Newhart Show. He played the funniest neighbor
He was great. I loved working with him.
I agree with @JackKirbyFan, you are so humble and calm and I love how your hair is wavry, your BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Thank you so much. That’s so kind of you to say.
Well it's true and your so welcome! @@judynorton2598 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Judy, regarding the change in music for season 9, I could be wrong, but I seem to remember something about a strike which prohibited the composition of new music, so it was decided to use stock music which was unaffected by the strike. This lasted about halfway through the season. Still, I could be wrong, but that’s what I recall. Thanks!
Thank you. Someone else had said the same, so sounds like that could indeed be the reason.
Hi enjoy your videos. Was there any talk about a spin off and if so who would it have been included? Also after Stanley and rose got married was there any info on where they lived .did they move etc? I know in one special she worked for Paul dad. Thank you
I never heard any serious talk about a spin off. I don’t know if they said where Stanley and Rose lived.
@@judynorton2598 thank you. Just after they got married I guess they were written out of storyline. Was watching last season.
Miss Judy I'm curious is Clifton Hamner still alive? Aka Jason
No Cliff passed in 1990.
THE WALTONS MUSIC WAS THE BEST THEME SONG WE ALL RECOGNIZE RIGHT AWAY. NEVER HEARD THE WORDS OF THE THEME SONG BUT JUST THE MUSIC OF COURSE
Awesome music. Jerry Goldsmith was a brilliant composer.
Hi
Judy
Have a nice day
Family and friends
Wow
Thank you.
Do you remember the place in BC where you went to ride horses? I ask because when I moved to BC in 1998 I worked at a ranch that rented horses call Beach Grove stables in Delta southwest of Vancouver on the Ladner Trunk rd. Slim chance but possible 🤞
Don’t recall the name, but it was in Maple Ridge and was an English Riding Stables.
Thanks for your question. Meg answered the question correctly in her reply.
You are very knowledgeable ❤
Thank you, I appreciate that.
I don't know why this was in my UA-cam feed because I don't watch The Waltons, but I've seen you on the old game show channels and had to comment how you still look the same except for the grey hair. You are aging well! 😊
Thank you. I had a lot of fun doing the various Game Shows.
How interesting to hear of your career history! I am surely not surprised since you are a great actress. I always thought Hugh Beaumont was so handsome and just great in anything i ever saw him in. Too bad his star didnt go as high as his great potential.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Have a good night sleep
