I agree we lost a lot of innocence and class since the days of the Walton's. I see the result in later generations who grew up with negative role models. I hope it's not too late to return.
I don't think it's ever too late, but it does start at home. Makes it more challenging for raising children into adolescence but its definitely doable.
I think there are still some great shows and even perhaps something for everyone - you just have to dig through a lot more content to try to find what appeals to you. I still hold out hope that things will evolve again to include the best of the old and new.
Agree with you Judy ! Reality shows are about sensationalism and no substance. It brings out the worst in people. Give me really good written characters that I want to care about each week like The Walton’s . Thanks Judy for a wonderful Q&A💕
Your first question reminded me of the 1948 film I Remember Mama (Ellen Corby has a small part in it). It’s a great story without being violent. It will make you cry though.
I thought that was very interesting! When you get together this weekend with your Waltons brothers and sisters I hope you can show us pictures of your trip. Thank you, Judy
Well, and they're really not reality. Even though there's no script, there are stories and arcs they want to get across. Frankly, they just want to be cheap and not pay writers and actors etc.
Did you hear and see that the backlot of WB Ranch where the Baldwin sister’s exterior house was located, was torn down with the rest of the lot. Even the area where The Waltons 2.0 house was located for reunion movies. Sad to see these iconic homes torn down after 50+ years
I agree with so many of the points you made. One of the reasons I enjoyed the Walton's so much is because I liked and related to the characters instantly. I cared about what happened to them and wanted them to succeed and wanted each episode to have a happy ending. I also agree with you about so called "reality" shows. I just don't have any interest in their made-up premises so I don't watch them. I would rather watch reruns of the Walton's or even shows like the Andy Griffith show or the Beverly Hillbillies, shows that make you smile and have a positive impact. There just aren't enough of that type of shows on TV anymore.
Hello Judy 😊Your singing voice is so lovely 😊My daughter did the same for years at Musical Theatre learning how to sing, it's not easy. I love musicals. I love Westside Story and Gypsy and Jennifer Hudson singing is wonderful so hard. Love her singing in the Dreamgirls movie, the song I am telling you is so strong. Even if I hear an opera singing I start to cry. There was a man a few years ago singing on the streets here in Glasgow and every time I watched him sing I was tearing up. What a gift.
I agree with your opinion on shows from “back then” verses “now”. I want to be inspired to do better and come away from watching something feeling good. Thank you for sharing! Mary
Well Said. I Agree With You. I Still Use A T.V. And If TCM Isn't Showing Anything I'm Interested In, I Go To My Many , Many DVD's. I Know I Always Feel Safe On Walton's Mountain And I Will Enjoy Every Minute. Quality Is Out The Window For The Most Part Today. Your Show Was Ground Breaking And Is Probably More Popular Today Than It Was In The 70's. And I Thank You For That.
I tend to watch family friendly shows with little to no violence. I do not enjoy gratuitous violence or abuse in any form when watching a movie or television. I think that is why The Waltons still resonate with so many people. Great episode ✌
Every episode of The Waltons had a special lesson… also, every episode had one of the characters spotlighted with a special event so that each character had a turn at being spotlighted…. I think no matter what episode being shown, there was someone, somewhere that could relate to one or more of the characters being spotlighted…. That’s what connects people to not only the shows but to the characters, which by the way, there is not enough of in modern shows now. Modern technology has almost spoiled the connections that people could relate to but then on the flip side of that modern technology has allowed so many people to be able to connect with their favorite childhood characters… if you would have told me 20 years ago that one day Judy Norton would reply to one of my comments on a social media platform I would have said you’re full of beans 🤭… I miss all the shows of yesteryear but I love I can still watch them and celebrities like you take the time out of your day to answer our questions. So, again, thank you. These videos you do are so interesting and full of answers to a lot of people’s curiosities…
I also remember as a young person that there would be typically I feel like they were movies but maybe they were regular television one-time shows that would deal with a specific topic that maybe would be a message for young people I can remember being encouraged to watch those. Though I can't really name any but I feel like I remember that. I was a child of the late 60s and 70s.
There are so many separate events. I got confused. The meet and greet events are the only ones where you get to Meet Judy and the Cast right? The Mystery Dinner and not sure about the Riverboat cruise dinner yet - is not for more personal contact with everyone. I am happy that you enjoyed it! 😍and a few others, like Froggy (who made it to the mystery dinner) didnt get to meet and greet and Katy Rogers with the cowboy hat will be going to the Cruise dinner tonight! 🤠 I love hearing from fans who went. Thank you for sharing!
I agree 💯percent on those reality shows….way too many nowadays. I can’t force myself to watch them. I see your segments as educational videos which I feel money couldn’t buy. I guess us fans owe you a lot. 💵💰🤑 Keep up the great work that you do. 👍🏻
I must say...watching the "burn out" yesterday and in (part 1) all the kids were in the tent outside in the yard... it started to rain.... Ben was laughing with John Boy ....when he saw that you pulled out an umbrella and held it over you... then you said "be prepared-thats my motto"...lol...lol.. so cute so funny!!!
Hi Judy ! Just watched The Minstrel..it was a turning point for Mary Ellen. I hadn’t seen that episode for a long time and after listening to you on your UTube channel I have a new appreciation for all of you and your crew too. Thanks for entertaining us for the last 50 years ! BTW were you really in an apple orchard picking apples ? Lol Eileen
Thank you so much for continuing to do these. I know you can't comment on the Waltons much, but I want to mention how it was great that you gave a lot of historical facts, and also addressed some issue that would have been more or less "taboo" during that era of a prime-time television show.
Just watched The Wedding (again) yesterday. The dialog between Mary Ellen and Curt, OMG! "what's wrong with the filing system, a moron could figure it out." "A moron must have designed it." That's comedy gold in a family drama. Great stuff that was.
Good morning Judy. I am SO thankful you take the time out of your day to answer questions and contribute to all our understanding of Hollywood. I have two questions for you. 1) How much do you focus (as a singer) on beat. The reason being, that as an adult learning guitar, beat is pounded into you. Stay on the beat. Don't drift from the beat, etc. How much time did you spend learning timing and beat? Thanks 2) Ever since I discovered your channel, I've had a growing interest in how films are made, etc. Now, can you clarify something for me - if you want. Often, when I read an interview from a behind the scenes person (director, writer, etc) you hear how 'Hollywood is a small place' but that is never clarified, but in context? My guess is that I assume they are saying that what you say can come back to bite you or you have to be extremely careful who you hang out with otherwise your reputation is ruined. Can you clarify - or not - and I would understand completely if you don't. Thanks again. I always consider your time and your effort anytime I post a question. Time is precious and as I get older, you really get that message so I always hope I never waste your time and respect it. Thx!
Hi Judy, I wanted to catch you before you embark on the Walton's Festival in Kentucky followed by the Riverboat Cruise in Nashville. Thank you for sharing so much with us, I think everyone here deeply appreciates you and your time, knowledge, patience, and dedication. Oh and your humour too! You are quite witty and funny. Especially with John Dayton. May your trip be exhilarating, peaceful and safe. 😍🤠
TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU JUDY! It's too bas I couldn't make have made it to the ferry ride that you ball also had mystery dinner night. I hope everyone of you had a wonderful time. Many blessings to you and all!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ps I stayed till the end because I always enjoy watching and listening to your way of interpreting the lingo
Just to let you know that today (October 26) is the 21st anniversary of the Statler Brothers farewell concert. I'm going to watch it on DVD tonight to pay my respects to them
I concur with your assessment. Edgy can become synonymous with "I'm imporant, look at my message" where the writers/producers/directors are going to hit the audience over the head without nuance. Life is more shades of grey than black and white. I do not want to be preached at, but have enough depth allowing the audience to come to their own conclusion. And a light show that makes you laugh or cry, without a heavy or edgy message is nice escapism.
I sing just for pleasure as it makes me happy and never considered it on a professional level. I agree with you Judy about today's television and I have always frowned on movies which in my opinion have irrelevant sex scenes, I dont think any movie requires that as we get it as an audience what a couple can get up to, just dont need to see it! The Waltons was the best family show ever and sadly there are very few family friendly shows since the Waltons. The topics it dealt with were all human issues that are still very relevant today and will be always. Thank you for todays segment Judy and best wishes from your waltonian superfan in a mild England😉
Hi mild Egland! I have always felt the same that movies/shows depict value that will stand the test of time. Even during my adolescence into early adulthood when there was increased curiosity, the excessive overdone violence and or sex detracted so much from the central meaning and quality of the show/movie. Whenever I left the movie (theater) after experiencing a very graphic movie whose original intent was to teach/inform, I felt ensuing trauma instead. I'm not sure when the industry decided that more was better, but it sure can make one delirious. I look forward to relevant shows that help keep us sane for generations to come. 🤠
I love your videos. Did I see that you and fellow Waltons are going to be here in Nashville on the General Jackson? Thank you kindly, Judy. Have a beautiful day!🎻Katy Rogers
@@katyrogers5268 I wish you a very enjoyable and safe trip - on the Riverboat cruise! another fan, Froggy is also going - I am so happy and excited for you both! and all that can make it. please come back and tell us all about it. 🤩
@@LisaLisa-2023 I absolutely will. I’ll do a story on my Facebook page. I’m a radio news gal, retired. Sorta. lol Have a great day. I’m so excited to attend!
@@katyrogers5268 Radio news gal-Katy I just realized you're in Nashville, wow - thats even more exciting. Thank you for sharing your story with us soon. I hope you get to meet some of the other fans from here like Froggy too, this is the next best thing to being there, Thank you from those of us who couldn't be there. Bon Voyage! 🤩😁
Hi Judy, enjoying the segment as always. Wanted to catch up with you before you ahead to The Waltons festival in Kentucky and on to Nashville. I wish i was able to make it. Thank you always, Judy 😊
I hope the Waltons fall festival in Kentucky goes well this weekend! I wish I could come but I cant :/ have a great time though Judy! And thank you for taking our questions and answeing them here, these videos are so interesting! 😊
My kind of shows are "The Waltons" and "The Golden Girls". 😍 The really edgy show for me was being engrossed in "Knots Landing", hook, line and sinker. 🥰
lol - I think many of us have our shows we love that don’t fit our regular mold :). I like a variety of different types of shows, but then there are shows I just can’t seem to get into.
Sing the right songs of course that has zero cuss words and we all can say to that amen because I just felt comfortable to say that since you Judy talked about singing topics for a little bit
Hi Judy I like the wedding scenes. With any of the Waltons weddings.Any episode the filmmakers had filmed were lifelike.I diod'nt like any shows that are unrealistic.❤
Interesting segment Judy. I started watching an old family favorite on The Roku Channel and was pleasantly surprised it was a Lorimar production as was The Waltons sharing the same writers, directors, etc. ....Eight Is Enough. I have yet to see the Will Geer episode. My question is were there any other TV shows that shared The Waltons actors and production?
Well said Judy….I now really pick and choose what makes me happy, what makes me feel good or positive. Those dark stories whether tv or movies just don’t make me feel good, happy, cheerful, hopeful…so I avoid them or turn them off. And I absolutely do not like reality shows! If I want real I watch cooking shows…all kinds of shows on Discovery Plus. No housewives of anything…no survivor…no naked and afraid…I just don’t get it! Avoid like the plague and absolutely do not feel like I’m missing anything! Thanks.
LOL, you have good eyesight. Usually, there is nothing stirring in the background of Judy's beautiful landscape. I am usually listening to Judy while transfixed in the window.
@@judynorton2598 thank you Lisa, Lisa, and Judy. I really love this channel. It’s one of the most relaxing, positive, feel good retro channels on UA-cam. It’s teaching us of a bygone era’s teachings… lol 😂 it’s what the world needs now. Keep it up 👍🏼 I remember those Where’s Waldo books as a teen. I’ve been really cool if you starred in more movies I have a lot of favorites from the late 80s. I think that would’ve been perfect for you lol I’ll have to check out your IMDb maybe I’m missing something. Have a nice night.
I agree with you so much on television shows of today. The so called reality shows are really a bunch of crap and don't show much of anything positive or to learn from or about something. I mostly watch shows like the reruns of The Waltons. You get into each character and can relate to them. Thank you Ms Judy for your thoughts and insight. Have a great weekend.
Judy, your opinion of TV and film today is spot-on! Twenty-four years ago, my first screenplay took first place in the State of Illinois/City of Chicago screenwriting competition. Afterward, I had the chance to speak with one of the judges, who was an executive with a Hollywood production company. In one breath 😮he raved about the screenplay; in the next, he said it would never be produced as written. When I asked why, he said, “It needs more sex and action.” When pressed, he admitted that by “action” he meant “violence.” I have no problem with that if it is necessary to the story, but it wasn’t, and so I never changed it. Of course, it never sold. But, ironically, this past Friday it was published as my second novel by a major publisher. Take THAT, Hollywood! Thanks, Judy!
I understand and it is unfortunate that more companies aren't willing to produce "feel good" movies for the whole family. Clearly there IS an audience for that. Meanwhile, congratulations on having your second novel published!!!
I agree with you Judy I often feel that boundaries maybe are pushed too far. Like you said we as the audience are smart we can fill in the blanks we don't actually have to see whether it's sex, violence whatever literally just put right there on the screen we know what is happening without being actually shown.
I agree. One of my other favorites, Quincy, M.E., was a coroner, but you never saw a body opened up or anything. They related to you what was going on.
Thank you for these videos! I “discovered” them a few days ago and have been binge-watching your videos. It’s entertaining to learn some behind the scenes facts about the show but also informative for those interested in movie or tv production. I also appreciate your outreach to the fans. I’m working on some good questions to submit. I’m a bit obsessed with the house right now; trying to reconcile the studio sets and the exterior into a single model. It’s a fun challenge and images of that home evoke wonderful feelings of comfort. Thanks again!
I couldn't agree more with your views on the changes in storytelling between The Waltons era and now. Why do we always have to push boundaries? I also end up turning things off out of disgust. And how are we supposed to root for characters with no redeeming values? If I don't like them, I'm not going to care what happens.
Judy, thanks so much for a great answer I didn't see coming. I thought it was going to be more about technology advancing and how that drives a certain type of production. But once you stated your thoughts I totally understood and it made sense. For future thought...I was watching a show with a laugh track the other night and got to thinking how few times I laugh watching most any comedy TV show even though they would like to think you're laughing from start to finish. There's this idea that every line has to be a zinger and they just aren't. At most I might chuckle at something that has played out but it's rare. How do you feel about the use of laugh tracks?
Just sharing my opinions which may not be how others see it. I’m less savvy about all the technical advances, so can’t elaborate as much on that. I’ll give some thought to the laugh track question and try to speak about it soon. Thanks!
You mentioned the increased access to equipment. I've been considering starting a UA-cam reaction channel. I've seen a number that were lacking in video quality, audio quality, and poor lighting. Not surprisingly, yours looks professional. If you don't mind sharing, I'd be interested to know what you use.
I'll let Judy speak for herself, but a really simple way to start would be using an iPhone. The picture is good and if you're close to it, the mics will pick you up well. There are accessory microphones you can get too.
Good Morning Judy! I'm totally in agreement with you. I don't like reality shows. I grew up in the 70s. variety shows were so entertaining and fun. What fun is there watching people who have no clue about life fighting. You are so right as well. We don't need to see everything either to know what is going on in a show. Thank you again. You always bring a breath of fresh air to the day! Have a Wonderful weekend!! 🥰
I agree. my Family teases me sometimes because I tend to watch shows from the 80s & before or something like a Downton Abbey instead of a walking dead. It’s just the way I am. I enjoy “comfort“ TV & movies. I don’t see anything wrong with that.📺😊💁🏻♀️
For someone to be on shows or plays on stage or TV, you have to spend lots of money to buy the right outfits for the occasion of what your going to be on and what's it all about anyway
Hi Judy, I know what you mean when you talk about Singing, I've noticed as I've got older I can't hit the high notes like I use to. let's say if I use to sing a song in G, I have to change the chord to E cause my Lungs don't have the power to hit notes i use to hit. as far as opinions go everybody has one. I'm not much on Reality shows. plus if a story or the actors doing the story doesn't hold my attention I won't wanna watch. Another wonderful video. looking forward to the next one. God Bless and take care. P.S. if you see Mary Ellen tell her Hi for Me. lolol.
This was very good. I used to sing although I never learned how to read music. And, it would be very good if SAG-AFTRA is able to reach an end to the strike. I am sure there are some actors who are really being hurt by this long strike.
My singing tip would probably be to keep practicing until you become like a professional artist. For starters, just perform to people right where you are locally and than go from there. Hope it helps someone
You covered a couple of good bases in this segment. Nice to hear your perspective on television these days. Im sure the singers amongst us will really benefit from your words on perfecting their vocals. A trained muscle never forgets. Practice dose make perfect. Its so hard to come up with a good question when i see all the others asking such great questions. since you're here i might as well offer another Tip of the day. Baby shampoo is very mild alternative for your sclap, and skin, especially on your face. : )
Hey kiddo! I thoroughly enjoyed this segment also. I agree wholeheartedly on your views on the "industry edginess ". And thank you for your opinions on vocal exercises. It was helpful. We are scheduled for cancer surgery in a few weeks. Looking forward to your segments during this stage in our lives. Have a blessed day kiddo.
I agree that we have been missing out on wholesome tv for a while. It is very disheartening though to read these comments and see how many people want to include race and sexual orientation into this. I hear too many people complaining about shows having gay characters or interracial couples. If they arent being explicit (sex scenes, cursing, drugs) there shouldn’t be a problem. Why is someone just existing so threatening to you?
I can't speak for everyone, but I can't imagine that genuine and avid Fans of Judy's here in this large forum and of The Beloved Waltons are racist, sexist, or homophobic. To love The Waltons and what the show represented was more than just appreciating family values. The Waltons and the Actors who portrayed the Walton family were compassionate and open-minded to human rights. Will Geer and Ellen Corby were both gay and were well-received and loved. And many Walton Episodes challenged racism and sexism. Mary Ellen had a romantic relationship with a Spanish soldier whom she defended. Their neighbors Verde and her family were their intimate friends. For that time period, this is extraordinary. So to love Judy Norton and what she believes in and to also Love the Waltons show, you gotta be a good-hearted open-minded person. 🧡
@@LisaLisa-2023 I 100% agree with all you said. I’m sure it’s not the majority of Walton fans but scrolling through the comments was disheartening. A lot of the comments threw in homosexuality when saying shows are showing to much sex drugs and risqué things.
@@asdfghjklpoi1529 I wish Judy was here, she always knows the right things to say ☺ I agree with you, that homosexuality is irrelevant to Judy's commentary about how sex and violence have increased in film and on Television. I read the comments on this page, and 99% were aligned with Judy's point. Judy is a civil/human rights advocate - and that is why we love her and her channel so much. .
IMO - As the series represented acceptance, tolerance, compassion - that definitely is across the board, race, religion, sexual orientation and all else that means. We don’t have to always understand others and we can be kind human beings and set that example in our lives.
What I prefer about TV from the 70s is that most child actors appeared more natural and not as if they were acting or trying to be cute. Both adults and children looked more natural, not made up to be attractive. TV today doesn’t seem to allow for plainness. In the remake of The Waltons, the children were too pretty and perfect looking. Not a hair out of place. The kids seemed to be portraying the characters rather than being the characters.
They cannot really remake the Waltons. They could with The Brady Bunch, that was easier, but iconic actors like The Walton cast and even, to some extent, The Patridge Family, or Laverne and Shirley, you just cannot duplicate it.
I so agree with you in the changes in entertainment. The more the people who write and produce TV shows and movies pushed boundaries and were allowed to push in what was on screen they wanted to push even more and it has gotten to the point that there is NO or very few boundaries now. No one has to think anymore or use their imagination. Everything is shown and i do mean everything. That is the reason that I watch older shows because, in my opinion, the newer shows are not worth watching, as you said this is just my opinion. Of the newer shows, I watch 3, Blue Bloods, The Voice, American Idol and I am a sports fan.
Interesting question. No we never met the infants til they came to work as they were “born” and sometimes the babies changed between episodes when they were infants.
Hi, Judy! I'm tuning in a bit late in the day! I can't improve upon your TV/Movie content observations! Funny comedy also turned "edgy" and dark ~ so much so, I would characterize some as verbal abuse! Especially married couple comedies(?) going back as far as The Honeymooners seemed to mistake insults, sarcasm, and undermining as comedy. I think Jackie Gleason's Poor Soul was brilliant, but "to the moon, Alice" I could do without. I stopped watching TV when Reality Shows proliferated. The last comedy I found genuinely funny I think was probably MTM and Rhoda. I always liked Carol Burnett and many of the variety shows of the 70s; but they did away with such shows. Oh, Frasier was very, very witty and funny! I believe Mr Hamner is on record as admiring Frasier! That entire ensemble was gifted and Kelsey Grammar's voice and timing are deluxe! I'm going to have to try some of your singing tips, though I'm a born Alto and not love nor money will alter my note range! Lol! Singing every day is good for everyone for everything ~ physical, emotional, and mental health! My favorite lyrics are "la, la!" 😊 Have a wonderful autumn weekend! The weather and tree colors in my county are terrific! Lots of love to you and Walton's everywhere! ❤🙏🕊️
Hi Holly. Yes I recall that some of the comedies with married couples seemed amusing at first but, when the bantering of sarcastic insults became unkind/overbearing- I no longer wanted to watch them. That's an interesting point you made. Because I crack up at everything funny, but I couldn't when it was just too mean-spirited to be considered hilarious (to me) As a small child, I didn't understand MTM, later in syndication I appreciated it alot. When I hear the opening theme, it brings back a good feeling, of when MTM opened the door for women. Ed Asner, also a superb Actor.
Froggy, lots of good wishes on your Riverboat cruise trip too! I hope you get to see some people from here.😁 I have this odd Halloween feeling that a surprise Walton guest will be the murderer in the Mayfield Kentucky Fest. Shyman99 knows. 🧐
@@froggy821 Hi Froggy!! You were in Mayfield Kentucky? Was that the October 27th dinner? The murder mystery one? You gotta post and tell us all about it. I got confused with the 3 separate gatherings, and told Katy Rogers - another Judy Norton fan that you were going to the River Boat cruise dinner. Katy said she will look for you on the cruise. sorry for the mixup.... I hope you were no longer nervous and had a GOOD time! 😍🤩
@LisaLisa-2023 No, wasn't nervous. Yes there were a few meet and greets, the murder mystery, a breakfast and the showboat.....all separate events. I hope your friend enjoys the showboat.
Hey Judy I have a question for you. You have mentioned the restrictions of working with young children on TV, but how does it work on stage when a child is needed for a scene?
Great question. I believe it’s very similar. School required, may be some limitations on work hours. I’ll see if I know someone who can help me with that question.
Just watched one of Mary Ellen's meanest episodes. It was the one when you and Erin told Jim Bob he was left by gypsies in an egg basket. You were so mean. I hope you weren't just being yourself 😉 That was one of the saddest episodes too, finding out Jim Bob was the only surviving twin. This is why I love '70s TV. The stories were so good and well written.
I know! I couldn’t believe how mean Elizabeth was being to Jim Bob! I thought I was mild by comparison, but I’m thinking kids can overdue the teasing and this was an example of that for the children. I’d like to think that wasn’t an example of how I would treat him. :)
I agree we lost a lot of innocence and class since the days of the Walton's. I see the result in later generations who grew up with negative role models. I hope it's not too late to return.
Shyman99 - On October 29th - in Nashville, you're going to reveal who the murderer is right? 🤔
I don't think it's ever too late, but it does start at home. Makes it more challenging for raising children into adolescence but its definitely doable.
It is, unfortunately. The pendulum isn't gonna swing back.
Shyman99 - I made an error - the unusual murder mystery was in Mayfield Kentucky not on the Riverboat Cruise.
I think there are still some great shows and even perhaps something for everyone - you just have to dig through a lot more content to try to find what appeals to you. I still hold out hope that things will evolve again to include the best of the old and new.

I tend to watch family friendly shows with little to no violence. I do not enjoy gratuitous violence or abuse in any form when watching a movie or television. I think that is why The Waltons still resonate with so many people. Great episode ✌
It’s a pretty timeless series which is quite something these days.
My pleasure - thanks for watching.
I remember there was always the Disney show on Sunday nights.

Hi Judy The Waltons Love my favorite one fan Big 💖 Happy Halloween 🎃
Thank you so much.
I had to chuckle at that myself when I watched the episode. I’d forgotten about that moment.
Lol Eileen
Thank you! Yes, we were in a real apple orchard, but they had already picked the apples and had to wire apples back onto the trees for filming.
Hi Judy this was very interesting thank you for sharing Judy love listening to you
You are so welcome
Thank you so much for continuing to do these. I know you can't comment on the Waltons much, but I want to mention how it was great that you gave a lot of historical facts, and also addressed some issue that would have been more or less "taboo" during that era of a prime-time television show.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Intriguing as always :D Looking forward to more
Happy to hear that.

Good morning judy Thanks a for sharing once again love learning and discovering
So glad you enjoyed it.
Just watched The Wedding (again) yesterday. The dialog between Mary Ellen and Curt, OMG! "what's wrong with the filing system, a moron could figure it out." "A moron must have designed it." That's comedy gold in a family drama. Great stuff that was.
We did have some fun exchanges. Curt was never one to pull his punches.
Thanks
2) Ever since I discovered your channel, I've had a growing interest in how films are made, etc.
Thx!
Thanks for your questions. I’ll try to answer soon. Rhythm has been a challenge for me at times. I’m worked on it and gotten better over the years.

Judy, excellent episode! 💫
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Just to let you know that today (October 26) is the 21st anniversary of the Statler Brothers farewell concert. I'm going to watch it on DVD tonight to pay my respects to them
Awesome.
Thank you for sharing your perspective.
@@LisaLisa-2023 Totally agree, less is more in my books.😊

My kind of shows are "The Waltons" and "The Golden Girls". 😍 The really edgy show for me was being engrossed in "Knots Landing", hook, line and sinker. 🥰
lol - I think many of us have our shows we love that don’t fit our regular mold :). I like a variety of different types of shows, but then there are shows I just can’t seem to get into.
@@judynorton2598 Never can do horror movies. They give me nightmares even before going to sleep. 😃
Sing the right songs of course that has zero cuss words and we all can say to that amen because I just felt comfortable to say that since you Judy talked about singing topics for a little bit
I totally agree with you about the need for a good story without trying to be edgy for the sake of it. It is refreshing for me to hear. Thanks Judy!
Glad it was helpful.
Hi Judy I like the wedding scenes. With any of the Waltons weddings.Any episode the filmmakers had filmed were lifelike.I diod'nt like any shows that are unrealistic.❤
Thank you. I also tend to prefer shows where the people seem more real rather than overly contrived circumstances.
I love John Sr. I stood up for Harley.. and Ralph Waite is my spiritual father
John Walton was such a great role model.
I agree with you.
Yes - Lorimar also produced Dallas, Knotts Landing, Falcon Crest, Apple’s Way - all shared writers, directors and sometimes other production people.
Thanks.
I understand :)

I appreciate you continuing to watch our show.
Is it our age showing? :)
@@judynorton2598 (shaking fist at sky)These darn kids with their gratuitous violence!

So glad you have found my channel and you are enjoying these videos.
I couldn't agree more with your views on the changes in storytelling between The Waltons era and now. Why do we always have to push boundaries? I also end up turning things off out of disgust. And how are we supposed to root for characters with no redeeming values? If I don't like them, I'm not going to care what happens.
Very good! I agree.
There are still some really nice shows being done, so we just need to do more digging around to find them.
Thanks!
Agree to many reality shows! Love good family stories! Thanks Judy Jennifer 😊

I have kept mine really simple. I use an iPhone for both picture and sound, but do use a professional editor.
Good Morning Judy! I'm totally in agreement with you. I don't like reality shows. I grew up in the 70s. variety shows were so entertaining and fun. This was very good. I used to sing although I never learned how to read music. And, it would be very good if SAG-AFTRA is able to reach an end to the strike. I am sure there are some actors who are really being hurt by this long strike.
Yes, the strike has impacted so many both actors and crew and production people. Hopefully we’ll have a resolution soon.
My singing tip would probably be to keep practicing until you become like a professional artist. For starters, just perform to people right where you are locally and than go from there. Hope it helps someone

@@LisaLisa-2023 I was just going off the comments I read not what Judy said. If you read the comments you will see what I was referring too.

Thank you. They really did let us just be kids - get messy, not be too perfect. It certainly brought a great realism to the family.

Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective

Because I crack up at everything funny, but I couldn't when it was just too mean-spirited to be considered hilarious (to me)
As a small child, I didn't understand MTM, later in syndication I appreciated it alot. When I hear the opening theme, it brings back a good feeling, of when MTM opened the door for women. Ed Asner, also a superb Actor.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We seem to generally be on the same page :)
