Good morning Judy. This might be a little off topic of what this video is about but I wanted to say that a week or so ago I was feeling kind of blah and I tuned into ME TV and caught the episode of when John boy read to the blind girl as a job and Mary Ellen gave her a pebble from the creek from Waltons Mt. as a gift. Well , I just wanted you to know that I very much enjoyed and appreciated all of the elements of that particular episode. John boy getting her to live & love life again alongside Mary Ellen’s display of appreciation, compassion and love for a virtual stranger. It was a very moving episode for me , it changed my mood for the better and help me appreciate and be grateful for the health and happiness I get to enjoy everyday. So thank you 🙏

My heart leaped when you announced the upcoming Walton's reunion & events. And then it did a somersault when you said it was in Maysfield, Kentucky! My Grandad was raised there. He moved to Covington, KY as an adult & worked for C&O railroad. But we made numerous trips there. We walked many streets as he pointed to varies things & his memories of them. Our favorite place was down by the railroad tracks & wave to the engineers & conductors. He was proud that Rosemary Clooney & her brother Nick lived there as well. Her house is now a museum. Nick is George Clooney's dad & quite a Cincinnati celebrity. I won't be able to attend 😢, but oh how my heart will be with you all! Blessings! 😊
I've started a new position at work and have lagged behind for the past couple months so I'm catching up on the videos. I am taking my fall blue ridge trip this year for this event. I'm retired and I sleep when I want to. Nice life if you can do it.
Hi Judy, I love that many of the cast will be participating in the riverboat cruise! I am going to guess it's Kami, with a bookend, in the library 😂😂. Cheers!
I do admire how prepared you are for your work be it acting, director etc.. Planning and organising are great traits/skills to have and are my strongest competancies. Due to work and family commitments, I am unable to come to the US at short notice as I would need to plan and organise such a visit at least 6-12 months in advance but I sincerely hope that those who attend, have a great time and enjoy the events. Thank you for todays segment and the info on the two events, best wishes to you as always from your waltonian superfan in a mild but wet England😉
DarkVader - I've been wanting to say the same for the longest time. re: Judy's super organized super methodical attributes. Even down to her fun cooking segments. There is always a neat opening, middle, and closing.
I find organizing makes a huge difference on so many things - but also can enjoy the unplanned spontaneous moments in life. Sometimes organizing allows for spontaneous options :). Sorry we won’t see you on this gathering.
What amazes me is your meticulous, organized, super attention to detail-characteristics. I was paying close attention to your directorial method with the assistance of the Monitor. In Bluff as Actor and Director, and in Inclusion Criteria as Actor, Writer, co-producer must require multiple-tasking and superior focus. When I first found your Channel, I was really stunned by how everything was so easy to find and without having to open the video - the content so neatly and illustratively laid out was just very user-friendly. You must have been always highly organized, fastidious & thorough. It shows in your segments - everything has its place, and your descriptions are clear and simple to comprehend. You would make an excellent Teacher/Professor. Thank you Judy for expanding on my question! highlight of my day! 😍☺
Judy -This multi-tasking - multi-role playing can't possibly be easy - even with the monitor and trusty assistants. Was your evolution into being a Director less difficult because you are a seasoned Actor (since age 7?!).
Thank you :). I have always tended to be able to project ahead and anticipate what will need to be dealt with, so I can adjust and problem solve on the fly. In some cases because of this I’m also able to make decisions on the spot when I haven’t had the information in advance so have to trust we’ll find a workable solution on the spot.
@@judynorton2598 Hi Judy, I carefully listened to your responses and found that your approach/method in your work can also be applied to many life situations. Your philosophy is much to be admired. Your Channel, a gift.
The video monitor technology was invented by Jerry Lewis in the 1960's. He wanted to be able to see what he was doing in front of the camera when he was directing and producing his movies. Just an FYI for you. lol. Thanks for sharing your angle on things! Isn't Mayfield, KY where Rosemary Clooney lived??
What a hoot! The murder mystery night should be great. Sibling rivalry at its best?!! Maybe one sibling offs another who just took too much time in the ONE bathroom?! Or Jim-Bob finally kills Mary Ellen for turning his hair green?!
Hi Judy. Great video. You're a wealth of knowledge. Is there a possibility of a Waltons cast tour? Another cast gathering in Virginia? I'm just thrilled to hear that John will be returning on the channel. He's so charismatic, a great story teller. A lot of fun.
Another Mary Ellen Monday, thank you Judy for your dedication to this channel it's the next Best thing to tunning in the the Walton's 50 years ago. Always adding to our continued education on the magic of movies and television.
@@judynorton2598 I agree - What you do is very Educational, Inspiring, and always executed with thoughtfulness. We have learned so much from you. Thank you Judy Norton. 😇
@@duanebarbic3786 Duane, So true, it's not just education from behind the scenes of The Waltons episodes, but now as you have mentioned, especially for those of us who are not in the performing Arts, these 101 segments are eye-opening experiences. Hi Judy I love watching your videos so much when I come in from work I love watching the Waltons my favourite programme ever can't wait for the next video very best wishes from steven in London
Would be awesome if a cast gathering happened in the Rockies or PNW... Perhaps in Jackson Hole near where exteriors for the Homecoming were shot... I kind of draw a (flexible) 500 mile radius of home for events I attend in order to keep my budget manageable...🤠🤠
That is a lovely thought to return to Jackson Hole. Seems like no matter where something is organized it’s impossible to make it work for everyone. We try to do locations that are reasonably accessible to many of our fans.
@@stevenww3560 - I was kind of lost as well. Did you mean "no focus" when you stated "mubfocus"? In other words, Judy chose Eric as the killer in her example to take the focus off of her?
I would so love to come to one of your events! But they are too far from Iowa. So if you’re ever doing something in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, or South Dakota, I’m all in!! Looking forward to the talk with John. Thank you! Mary
Judy, I saw Jon appear in a 1971 episode of My Three Sons yesterday.I know that he was born in England, but he had a British accent in his scenes with Barry Livingston. Did he change his voice in some way when he was cast as Jason on the Waltons? A beautifully produced video, and I look forward to seeing your interview with John Dayton.
Hi Judy, Thank you for another interesting video. It's surprising how much there is for you to talk about without being specific about 'The Waltons.' Two questions: (1l Are you, Michael Learned and a couple other of your colleagues still planning on coming to the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada this Fall? I remember you mentioning it last year, but I know things can change. (2) Could you please remember to ask John Dayton about his thoughts on Katharine Hepburn's performance and faculties during the filming of 'One Christmas' that he produced. Because I still recall the director saying she was past her best before date, yet she was nominated for a SAG Award. Doesn't sound like she could have been that bad if her acting community thought she delivered one of the top five performances in that category that year. Thank you. Keep up the great work. Look forward to your 'Behind the Scenes' videos every Monday and Thursday. And, we should also thank your son for his help, as I know you've highlighted his assistance a couple times.
@@judynorton2598, thank you for the updates. Sorry to hear about the event not working out. Keeping my fingers crossed a visit to this area of the continent materializes in the future.
This was another really interesting segment-so THANK YOU, again, for keeping the content coming!😊 It was amazing to me to hear you say that, when directing your series in Canada, you essentially memorized all of your dialogue for the entire series, so you could always be prepared to jump into a scene, etc. I would imagine that such memorization would be a totally IMMERSIVE process. QUESTIONS: 1. Can you elaborate on your own personal process for memorizing your lines, as an actor? And 2) Do you think that having all of those lines - and "stories" in your head - affects your DREAMLIFE? (I know that probably sounds like a really straaaange question!😂 But I've been noticing lately that what I'm concentrating on during the day - even shows and series that I'm "binging" - can reappear during my sleep. Soooo... just wondering if memorizing an entire TV series would "stick in your memory" during an altered dream-state? 🧐🤫😴📽) Glad to hear you reference Inclusion Criteria again- I just LOVED that film!👍📽😊
This was quite interesting. I am sort of glad to learn that the actors on that show which included you became sort of a set of sisters and brothers from different mothers, as it were. That is what I always imagined the relationships were on the outside of filming. Thanks, Judy. I still want to know what plant is growing behind you on your left side. It looks like bamboo. Though, I realize that may be too personal a question to ask. I will be unable to be at any of the events and am glad to learn those types of things are nit off limit during the strike
Sounds like fun and different events for the cast coming up! I have been getting ads for them in my FB feed and did think - hmmm - Murder Mystery Dinner?! You'll have to fill us in on these afterwards. I hope you all continue to gather for events as I hope to someday be able to attend one! It sounds like you have fun doing them.🥰 I remember you talking about filming scenes out of sequence for episodes of The Waltons, but that is even MORE complicated - filming scenes out of sequence and for multiple episodes at once! AND you were both directing and acting! I just looked up the movie and series - looks like I can watch the movie on Tubi, but Bluff doesn't appear to be streaming anywhere, although the DVD is available to buy on Amazon. I'm going to keep looking and see if I can find it streaming - it looks good! Thanks for another great Behind the Scenes, Judy!
@@froggy821 I think we will all be waiting with anticipation to hear your stories about this wonderful - gathering and mystery. You're welcome. Have a very fun and safe time.
I really appreciate your explanations of the SAG strike restrictions. I’ve seen these events advertised by others’ social media but you took the time to clarify what is allowed. I’m not a SAG or WGA member, just a fan, but wish you all a fruitful and speedy resolution to the strike.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to come to these events even though Kentucky is directly south of me (Go Bucks)! I hope that at some time we will be able to see some footage from these events!
Hey kiddo! Ypu made mention during your show you had a trusted person watch your acting to make sure you didn't do any bad habits. What bad habits did you have in acting? Love your show and keep rockin!
Nothing new is being filmed during the strike. Many shows have already shot episodes so they will complete post production and have the option to air those.

@@judynorton2598 memories are funny things, I could’ve swore there was a whole episode on a river boat. ‘It’s crazy that way., maybe I fell asleep while my dad was watching a riverboat gambler movie or some other guy James Garner and I just dreamed up a whole episode. I’ve done that before. I dreamed a while world war two episode with John boy that was a pretty cool dream. Next month say to the rest of the crew David, jimbob, Jason Jon W. Erik Ben kami elizabeth Erin maryMc. to bad Micheal's not there or John Jr. ( I love play acting )
TV and movies are typically filmed out of sequence for time and money reasons. Utilizing the fewest company moves, scenes are shot based on location. ie: all the scenes in the kitchen, then all the scenes in the living room. Once outside - all the scenes in one location etc. If shooting in order, the whole film company would need to keep moving all the equipment constantly. This takes a lot of time, then setting up of lights and equipment etc. Could be one short scene, then off to another indoor location. Then back outside… simply not practical. Some films that are shot in different countries would really have an issue :)

How wonderful Judy! That is so exciting that you are able to do a meet-and-greet. And some other things along that line.. Unfortunately my husband and I are not in the position where we can travel again until next summer but maybe sometime in the future we can meet you at an event.❤
Sorry you can’t make it.
@@judynorton2598 are you ever at The Waltons Museum in Schuyler Virginia? I feel like there's a chance we would be able to get there someday!
All these events sound like a lot of fun. Hope everyone has a great time! Great episode ✌
Thank you.
I'm polishing and oiling the wheelchair in case you are within range of the St.Louis area soon. Nashville dinner cruise sounds possible as to distance but we both have medical issues that may preclude making it there.
Take care and keep getting stronger.
@@judynorton2598 Up late again are ya. Good news from the doctor. My kidney doctor was alnmost giddy when i saw her last month.. I told herr if I ws going to make her day, I would have asked for an earlier appointment. She said Bill, you don't understand, when someone comes in here in your shape, it's usually bad news that i have to give them. but you are doing incredibly well Also my COPD dr. cut my most expensive medicine in half and i only have to see him once a year, as i do all the others in person. We can do TV appointments in the winter instead of Nancy having to drive me. But the bad new is that I will always need the oxygen tanks and machine and to travel far, the wheel chair. Sweet dreams . It's midnight here but the Waltons are on Hallmark so and I can hear Nancy listening to it in the living room so i may take my meds and a cup of Joe and sit down with her. I'm retired and I sleep when I want to. Nice life if you can do it.
Mayfield Kentucky is about six hours away from me! I may have to check this out!!
Cool :)
Hi Judy,
I love that many of the cast will be participating in the riverboat cruise!
I am going to guess it's Kami, with a bookend, in the library 😂😂.
Cheers!
I love it!!
Hi Judy!! Directing and acting in the same film sounds like a lot of work and fun at the same time. I so enjoy your videos. Thank you so MUCH!🥰
You are so welcome!
@@LisaLisa-2023 So true, she's an absolute gem😊
I find organizing makes a huge difference on so many things - but also can enjoy the unplanned spontaneous moments in life. Sometimes organizing allows for spontaneous options :). Sorry we won’t see you on this gathering.
Thanks for the stories behind your writing and directing. So interesting about your family, also.
Thanks for watching.
That’s sounds wonderful! Have a great time! I’ll be home in Mexico. 🇲🇽
😊
Would love to see David. He always has a lot of interesting things to contribute❤
Yes, it will be lovely if he can join us.
That’s is so cool that Jerry Lewis invented the monitor tech. So helpful. Yes, someone else just shared that Rosemary Clooney was from Mayfield.
What a hoot! The murder mystery night should be great. Sibling rivalry at its best?!! Maybe one sibling offs another who just took too much time in the ONE bathroom?! Or Jim-Bob finally kills Mary Ellen for turning his hair green?!
Can’t wait to find out.
Oh my I’d Love to take part in this. Sounds like a great time. Oregon to Kentucky won’t be manageable this time at least 🤗
I live by Portland. Where are you?
I understand.
Hi Judy. Great video. You're a wealth of knowledge.
Is there a possibility of a Waltons cast tour? Another cast gathering in Virginia?
I'm just thrilled to hear that John will be returning on the channel. He's so charismatic, a great story teller. A lot of fun.
No tour planned. The KY and TN trip is the only one scheduled right now.
The Walton Mountain Museum is awesome. Been there twice and enjoyed my visit
It’s so nice what they’ve created there. Such a great tribute.

@@duanebarbic3786 Duane, So true, it's not just education from behind the scenes of The Waltons episodes, but now as you have mentioned, especially for those of us who are not in the performing Arts, these 101 segments are eye-opening experiences. "So that's how it is done" kinda feeling. And most importantly we trust the source! And with John Dayton's guesting, we get more surprise treats. 🤩

My husband and I are coming the Dinner cruise!
Awesome! See you there.

@@judynorton2598 you said if they have you do the murder mystery !
@@stevenww3560 - I was kind of lost as well. Did you mean "no focus" when you stated "mubfocus"? In other words, Judy chose Eric as the killer in her example to take the focus off of her?
Thanks for editing your post. It makes sense now.
@@shyman99 I think you could solve the murder mystery in Mayfield!
I would so love to come to one of your events! But they are too far from Iowa. So if you’re ever doing something in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, or South Dakota, I’m all in!! Looking forward to the talk with John. Thank you! Mary
We’ll keep everyone posted on future events.
Jon's in a season 2 episode of Adam-12 also.
Jon was born in England. Although he lost the accent, he can drop back into it anytime.
Wish I could be there.
I have my breakfast ticket and meet and greet as well! Look forward to it very much!
Awesome! See you there!
Good Morning Judy. I'm Loving all your content. I watch the Waltons everyday on ME TV, God Bless and take care.
Thanks so much
Just added No Where to Hide to my Tubi watchlist!
Awesome! Thank you!!
No idea who would organise it but if you did a UK/London event it would be WILD!
Even though it would take me a bus, ferry, train and maybe the tube to get to London it would be worth it to see any of the cast of The Waltons.
It’s been “talked” about - but no organizer has ever stepped forward to bring all the pieces together.
Hi Judy, Thank you for another interesting video. It's surprising how much there is for you to talk about without being specific about 'The Waltons.'
Two questions: (1l Are you, Michael Learned and a couple other of your colleagues still planning on coming to the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada this Fall?
The Canada trip didn’t materialize. Yes, John will be sharing info about Katharine Hepburn’s health over her last few films.
@@judynorton2598, thank you for the updates. Sorry to hear about the event not working out. Keeping my fingers crossed a visit to this area of the continent materializes in the future.

Always great to get together.
I guess living in Australia l am a bit to far away for this and l know that it will be an amazing event to see the Waltons cast.😊😊
That would be quite a commute to the events.
Video Assist was invented by, none other than Jerry Lewis! LAAAAAYYYYDEEEE!
Really? How cool.
Thank you very much. Interesting questions. I’ll see about taking them up soon.
It is a bamboo tree. (fake)
@@judynorton2598 Those are the most beautiful kind all year long 😍I wondered that too Judy - but from where we post, it looks completely alive. 👍

Sounds like fun and different events for the cast coming up! I have been getting ads for them in my FB feed and did think - hmmm - Murder Mystery Dinner?! You'll have to fill us in on these afterwards. I hope you all continue to gather for events as I hope to someday be able to attend one! It sounds like you have fun doing them.🥰
I remember you talking about filming scenes out of sequence for episodes of The Waltons, but that is even MORE complicated - filming scenes out of sequence and for multiple episodes at once!

Hey kiddo! Ypu made mention during your show you had a trusted person watch your acting to make sure you didn't do any bad habits. What bad habits did you have in acting? Love your show and keep rockin!
Mostly to do with keeping tension out of my face that isn’t about the character, but my internal focus on lines etc.
Do I understand correctly no shows for the 2023 season are not in production during the strike. If so wonder if they might do live shows to catch up?
Nothing new is being filmed during the strike. Many shows have already shot episodes so they will complete post production and have the option to air those.

@@judynorton2598 memories are funny things, I could’ve swore there was a whole episode on a river boat. ‘It’s crazy that way., maybe I fell asleep while my dad was watching a riverboat gambler movie or some other guy James Garner and I just dreamed up a whole episode. Next month say to the rest of the crew David, jimbob, Jason Jon W. Erik Ben kami elizabeth Erin maryMc. to bad Micheal's not there or John Jr. ( I love play acting )
Question Are all shows filmed at the ending first and the opening scene last what is reason for that.
Hoping that the Actor STRIKE---> is making headway for all of the Actors and those involved.
Thank you. They’re not back at the table yet.
