It's easier to hear the difference in your videos then probably any other video I seen on UA-cam not only is the jazzmaster a thicker sounding guitar... it has more of a emphasis in the lower mids.... whereas the jaguar emphasize the upper midrange and is brighter.... it isn't thin like most ppl think... it's thin cause ppl don't eq their amps right when playing it lmao.... any guitar could sound thin if you don't boost those mids.... but I love both guitars.. I'm going to buy a jaguar real soon...i already got a jazzmaster
i think the red one suits you more, but I liked the sound of the black one better. you weren't playing them on the same settings were you? (are those the new sonic youth models?)
@chrisi76 Just an added note, back in the 60's and 70' I played both 67 Jazzmaster and 67 Jaguar and found the tonality of the Jaguar much more flexible. The original 62 Jaguars had hotter pickups than the Strat and maybe that made the 60's models different than the CIJ and those made in the US more recently.. I can tell you, I love my Custom Shop 62 NOS Jag made earlier this year.
I`ve put US-Reissue Jazzmaster Pickups in both of my Jaguars. I can only recommend this mode cause it sounds much better, more mellow especially when both pickups are on. Und welche is es die du behalten hast?? cheers
I bought the Jazzmaster... fits me the best from all the Fenders guitars! Why don't you buy the cheaper Squier models - and get a Jazzmaster AND a Jaguar? ;)
@ThePoorhillbilly The bodies are the same to my knowledge. The neck on the Jazzy is longer. Personally I found that the Jaguar actually has e pretty limited tone range despite all the knobs and buttons, but it's a question of taste I suppose
they both sound pretty similar to me, maybe the jazzmaster has a more special and rich sound, what do you think about them (tonewise) having heard them in person? which one has more personality (always speaking of the sound/tone) by the way , your playing is so good it's making me feel like shit. would really appreciate if you could answer, for i am about to buy one of them and still haven't decided (I can't try them personally i'm buying online)
@bassmantomas Yes the Fender Jazzmaster Classic player does have a different neckXD it has medium jumbo frets, unlike the original which had Jumbo frets, but they are both amazing amazing guitars (just putting in my two centsXD)
I want a jazzmaster but I liked the jag sound better. It was more punchy and reminiscent of RHCP which I play a lot of. But also I have a strat so I kind of want a thicker sounding guitar....which one do you think would be better?
I'm with the JM fans on this - interesting side-by-side... but the JM has much more warmth and body, which is what I'm after. You might feel otherwise, of course :0)
Jazzmaster's body is better. i think Fender have used that for the Jagaur Blacktop. but you cant beat the Jagaur size and effects options. Fender .GENIUS!
The Black Jazzmaster sounds much better. more full and rich. Are those American Models? I have a CIJ Jazzmaster with Seymour Duncan Antiquity II pickups, Mastery Bridge and locking tuners. Sounds a lot better now.
no, it was everything: playfeel, sound, factory adjustment, the thin pickups you mentioned... and the price was about €50.- less than the jazzmaster....
@gruffgruff13 I own one, and also own a Jazzmaster. It comes close to... Neither the JM or Jaguar with SCs. It's a lot more basic control wise, and the stock HBs don't favor either guitar. It's a guitar unto its own, and I wouldn't tell anyone to buy one to get a JM or Jag tone.
I own a Jaguar Thinline (my baby) and I've only played a Jazzmaster a couple times in my life, so I can't make a fair comparison. Still, I picked the Jag because the JM pickups, while good for certain sounds, were always a little too 'muddy.' Also the Jaguar had slightly more sustain, not Les Paul levels but it's enough for me.
Great video. I'm in the market for a jag/or a jazzmaster and am definitely staying away from anything other than the classic players. The original sounds are wayy too Twangy till they hurt your ears!!! Would like to see a comparison between the MIM classic players' HH and SS configs of both the jazzmaster and jaguars for more confirmation. I'll be buying online, and won't be able to try out the sound. If someone here could make or redirect me to a video of something like that, it'll be great.
Everyone who hears you have a vintage guitar wants to see it, then they have to comment on it, just don't need the hassle of defending one of my secret recording weapons. whenever i need something off the wall i got my 64 jaguar my jazzmaster, or my trini lopez
the classic player Jazzmaster has hotter pickups than the fender jm norm. Much hotter than the AVRI jag pickups which would explain why everyone is saying the jm has a fuller sound.
Both great guitars, but I am gonna say the jazzmaster is a little better, being that I own a stock 1965 sonic blue jazzmaster with matching headstock, I might be a little biased. And no I won't put up videos of it, that baby's for me and me only, I don't let people ogle my shit, not even family.
@steffenla4 I got a few modifications to my jag, new bridge, grpahtec nut, tremelo system. its taken the tone from a good fender to that of a super guitar. check it out its on shorscaleorg
I love both Jaguars and Jazzmasters, but I find I can't get used to the Classic Players. Mostly because the bridge and tailpiece are too close together.
Great demo, love your playing! Jag is maybe more percussive, more chime? Jazz is warmer sounding. Both sound good in their own way...
It's easier to hear the difference in your videos then probably any other video I seen on UA-cam

appreciate the demo - yeah the Jaguar sounds very surfy. The Jazzmaster sounds like electrified cream, which is why I will keep mine!
Thanks!
@Sunnysailorboy the important thing to play fast on a guitar is the neck size/angle, nut height and ofcourse the fret wire size...
Fender Jazzmaster Classic Player -Thanks for watching!
@Zwikster The jazzmaster is a Fender Classic Player which is made in Mexico
i think the red one suits you more, but I liked the sound of the black one better. you weren't playing them on the same settings were you? (are those the new sonic youth models?)
i love a jazzmasters guitars but i never would undestand why fender decide to call it on that way but the guitar is a legend by it self
i love it when fenders have matching head stocks
Love that Jag 'Stab' sound
@chrisi76 Just an added note, back in the 60's and 70' I played both 67 Jazzmaster and 67 Jaguar and found the tonality of the Jaguar much more flexible. I have a Jazzmaster the same color as the Jag (Yes, matching headstock) it's a very pretty, and great sounding guitar.
i love the twang! the proguitarshop is the nicest jazzmaster twang i've ever heard!
I bought the Jazzmaster... fits me the best from all the Fenders guitars! Why don't you buy the cheaper Squier models - and get a Jazzmaster AND a Jaguar? ;)
is the first song "junkie" by steve vai? sounds alot like it
I'd go obviously with the jazzy... I love that tone!

Thinking of buying a jag. How is it to play fast (Malmsteen style) on those guitars?
they both sound pretty similar to me, maybe the jazzmaster has a more special and rich sound, what do you think about them (tonewise) having heard them in person? which one has more personality (always speaking of the sound/tone)
by the way , your playing is so good it's making me feel like shit.

Both beautiful guitars but the neck is what made me flock to jazzmaster. 25 1/2" vs. ~24" scale opens up playability in my opinion.
What was the first song you played in this video?
@chrisi76 cool man. do you like it? i find the necks are just so...different!
nice demo!! Jazzmaster = the one guitar collection, so versatile. And the jaguar would be great if you have another warmer guitar like a 335
Thanks! I bought the Jazzmaster, by the way 😅 Look on my channel - there are more videos or visit www.christophgruber.com
@chrisi76 OK. That explains what I was hearing. The EL84. I am more used to the 6V6 and 6L6 outputs.
The Jazzmaster sounds better to me, but the Jaguar can sound amazing if you're playing the right style of music.
@chrisi76 From a band called Porcupine Tree. A great musician, indeed...
The Black Jazzmaster sounds much better. more full and rich.
Are those American Models?
I have a CIJ Jazzmaster with Seymour Duncan Antiquity II pickups, Mastery Bridge and locking tuners. Sounds a lot better now.
no, it was everything: playfeel, sound, factory adjustment, the thin pickups you mentioned... and the price was about €50.- less than the jazzmaster....
if you put a fuzz a chorus and a compressor with it you get a hell of a sound, that is if you like really long full fuzzy sustain

Dammit!!! the JazzM sounds great but the Jaguar looks better!! Good vid man!.
@soulagent79
Gute Argumente! Mit einer Gitarre würde ich 'eh nicht auskommen, warum also nicht von jedem Modell eine? ;)
What effects did you use on this video?
you are absolutely right ;)
@ArtR0001 thanks!
What amp was used?
Great video. I'm in the market for a jag/or a jazzmaster and am definitely staying away from anything other than the classic players. The original sounds are wayy too Twangy till they hurt your ears!!!

Vox TV4 (Amp), EHX Holy Grail (Reverb) - that's it.
@bassmantomas oh yes, i really like this guitar!
its perfekt for the things i'm doing...
but i'm going to buy a duesenberg double cat
@bassmantomas yes!
Everyone who hears you have a vintage guitar wants to see it, then they have to comment on it, just don't need the hassle of defending one of my secret recording weapons. whenever i need something off the wall i got my 64 jaguar my jazzmaster, or my trini lopez
Looks like you're more comfortable on the ole Jazzmasteraroonie.
same settings... i bought the black one :)
I like the Jaguar's sound better but the Jazzmaster's look better... Hmm...
what model is that jazzmaster?
@katersocks
...die jazzmaster!
the classic player Jazzmaster has hotter pickups than the fender jm norm.
Much hotter than the AVRI jag pickups which would explain why everyone is saying the jm has a fuller sound.
@MikeTheGuy00
who is steve wilson !?
that is a hard battle lol....and yet no mustang to come in thr...idk all of them are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MsMarcel0 yes ;)
Gaah I can't decide if I should get the jaguar or jazzmaster.
@TheGreenburst ...schau dir die anderen Videos in meinem UA-cam-Kanal an ;)
O chão está quente? Por que ele não para quieto no lugar? Não dá nem pra apreciar a guitarra...
ich glaube du hast dir die jazzmaster behalten
Jazzmaster for life!!
Man whats he blowing at 1:02
blowing from his mouth? i dont see anything
@ArtR0001 Vox AC4 TV # external speaker
damn i guess the jazzmaster does sound better
@LarzHH Jazzmaster!
isn't that a classic player jazzmaster?
Tomas Bouda Is it?? I'm interessed in that exact model
Jazzmaster!!!
Jazzmaster Wins!

What best for surf
+Matthew Paul Jaguar!
I thought it was Jaguar as Leo designed it especially for the surf musicians...Until I heard Messer Chups and Bambi Molesters
@chrisi76 neat-o
I love both Jaguars and Jazzmasters, but I find I can't get used to the Classic Players. Mostly because the bridge and tailpiece are too close together.
@chrisi76
die klingt 100mal besser (:
what?
