I liked the story overall and the new area, but my beefs with its kinda shallow on content. There should have been more events, more side/daily quests at all the unused locations, and new weapon types and armor instead of a bunch of cosmetics and "unique" legendaries of existing weapons.
What this update managed to do for me is give me hope that they will keep updating it for years to come, before I was under the impression that 76 was in maintenance mode and that we'll never see anything similar to Wastelanders again.
I mean. The scope of this update isn't even nearly as expansive as Wild Appalachia, or Steel Dawn/Reign, and certainly isn't as expansive as Wastelanders. Adding empty forest with a few quest locations lacking depth or content does not compare to updates that add whole new sets of armor to learn/grind, plans, weapons, etc. This update added a few, but nothing compared to past content. In year 6, they SHOULD be releasing another Wastelanders scale update... alas, it seems all we can expect is these small updates every 12 months or so, with the usual battle pass filling in the droughts.

I think a lot of people sided with Oberlain, he is the morally right character, whilst Hugo is greyer and Audrey is... well honestly she is probably the weakest character in terms of personality and development also she is kinda irritating.

And I gotta say, Im pleasently very surprised on hoe much I enjoy just taking my time, roaming around the world. Once I realised that you can just pick and choose among the quests, the casual team is...well, casual and no preassure, it just hit home for me. Still a tourist, lvl 40 here.
Back in F76 after three or four years out, and really enjoyed this expansion (and all the other stuff I missed!). What was really nice was one thing you mentioned - a quest reward in Skyline Valley gave me a weapon that kept me alive and able to progress through the content, cos the weapons I had been using up to that point were just not good!
I really regret speeding through Wastelanders so that I could get the plasma caster. I've heard nothing but good things about it, but I paid 0% attention to what it was about. U_U Plasma Caster's never left my side, though.
I've only been in the game since the end of April so this was a first for me with 76. After trying the AC material, and being completely bored by it, I was pleasantly surprised with this new story line, quests, rewards, character development, and eventual outcome. The rewards especially are pretty decent and as dlc or an expansion I'd put it on par with Nuka World from F4, which unlike many of my fellow Fallout fans I actually enjoyed. It was definitely a great and a very welcomed update to Fallout 76, and the series overall that I really highly enjoyed and am still enjoying even after finishing all of the main/side quests. However, I do have a bone to pick with all of the Fallout 76 content creators that I do believe are definitely 100% hurting the game overall.. It's definitely not a "Map expansion like many content creators have labeled. The Skyline Valley area was ALWAYS in the game pre update going back all the way to Day 1 of launch it just wasn't filled in with all of these new unique locations. The overall Fallout 76 map is still the same size.
I started a couple months ago and am still trying to get throught the first 5 years I missed😂. Started the vault quest, but haven't been in the valley , yet. Overall I really love the game and built me a cool swamp house on the water near Harper''s Ferry. Looking forward to future content!
From where I am sitting... this "map expansion" looks and feels, and behaves identical to an Expedition. The only difference is that there is no loading screen, and you can camp there. Otherwise it's identical in scope and content. I will not hold my breath for another update adding more map to explore. If it happens, it will likely happen 6-12 months from now, or more... and the fate of this content will be the same as the rest. Neglected. It's very hard to get a full team together for Expeditions or Daily Ops unless there's a challenge demanding them... and that's exactly what will happen to Skyline Valley. You'll know it when they start having us do daily or weekly challenges like "kill a thrasher" ...in an attempt to get us to go there, the same way as we now get "kill a lesser devil" so that we go to Atlantic City. People won't go... so Bethesda makes it a requirement for some score... and then they post an annual report of aaaalllll the people to tried Atlantic City. Clever really. Good way to hide shortcomings, like people not being particularly thrilled with an addition to the game. Gotta imagine it sucks to be a developer on this game only to hear players call your work on the game "boring."
For me it feels that the new map is just existing for the new questline...some buildings are closed and you can't find a single holotape.. Or some sidequest
My only "disappointment" is that there isn't any quest content with the new communists. But they put too much work into the new faction for there to not be some in the future.
I like it, but they should have made better use of the space they added to the map, cause the space before the edge is nearly as big as the whole vally it's self.
I kind of wish there was a bit more done with the new areas - the trading post feels like an abandoned area from when the game launched, and there's precious little to do in vault 63 once you complete the storyline.
It’s better than scorched. Scorched are just annoying. Atlantic City is pretty dumb concept in a Fallout world but it did give a quicker expedition which was needed, though with annoying npc’s. This was the best story of any 76 just too short. I will say that I happily offed the communist mothman cult leader. Neither of those should be allowed to live much less a person that is both😊.
I am disappointed that they only added 2 new events with such a big map area.
Todd did an interview saying there was another part to skyline valley coming so I hope it's more events
and one of those events is currently taken out of the game.. So.. it's anyone's guess when that will come back

I liked the story a lot. I sided with the Overseer.
If you pay attention to the moth mission and talk to evry characters or listen there are all fake moth man believer i really enjoy that detail

Its decent but it lacks in events and new gear.

I wanted it to be part of the world more, not just a story location. Everything seems directly tied the main story.
