EXCELLENT guide!! I just watched your guide once thru, then opened the box and followed step by step pausing as I went thru. Thankyou for an amazing easy to follow guide!!! And I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of this product! Looks and feels like it came from the factory with these paddles!!! I love it!!!!!
Thank you for this guide! I did everything correctly except I forgot to plug the trackpad back in. Whoops. Had to open it up again just to fix that, but now it works perfectly.

Fixed them up real nice I got anti sweat grips with paddles extended triggers with quick shot triggers and all black with carbon!
Hey man! Would be great to see your build. I'm on IG. Same username as my YT Channel. I also lurk around on Reddit, my user is Im-A-Caveman. If you're able to show me somehow with either of those apps then go for it.
Nice guide! After I released the four screws and the two locks from the back piece, It was still really difficult to take it apart (5:26). It seemed there was something more holding it really tight at the front of the controller. Well. I accomplished the task anyway. Thanks!
I used your video to install the kit today, thank you SO much! One thing I noticed for myself was that when I initially put on the K1 and K2 triggers, they weren’t clicking, so I had to go back ensure the little screws were TIGHT to ensure the buttons gave an audible click.
Its interesting, would you need it to click? I can normally here my friends clicking the crap out of their controllers, so thats white I ask. I wouldn't need them to click.
If you're concerned about the clicky sounds, the k1 and k2 paddles are muted for the metal remap pcb. For the rmb rise4, the K3 and K4 are clicky though. I was alittle disappointed on that but I don't press them as much since I use those for reloading or switching weapons. For the standard Rise 2 and Rise4 the switches are clicky.
@@pootato69 I prefer rmb since the paddles won't/shouldn't break and the switches aren't as clicky. The switches are tough so they require a little more pressure to activate compared to the plastic.
Just installed this today on my second day of owning my ps5 easy great and couldn’t regret it only thing I can say is it’s very important to adjust the pressure of the screws on the button mother board for the perfect click pressure for K1 and K2
Also you should put out a video with Soldering L3 and R3 it’s super easy but would have been better to only have to watch this video lol the actual makers video sucks compared to this amazing job on the detail and step by step best video out there

Amazing video bro! Appreciate your quality content. One question, I wasnt gently enough and accidentally cut the front mic cable (7:30 on your video) can I continue moving forward accepting that this feature will not longer be available or the controller will now be completely disfunctional? any comment will be very much appreciated, thank you!
The controller is fine. Just nit the front mic. I found this: amzn.to/3GJ4aoh Haven't used it myself but I think I might do a test run on these for situations like this. Might even do a video on it
Thank you very much for this tutorial. It took me about 80 minutes from start to finish but i was couple of times making sure that everything is well connected and that was way above double checking 🤣 but i'm happy because everything works perfectly. You showed everything so clearly that it was not a problem to do it at all. For people who are not decided yet for such a kit i can say that for 40$ it's definitely worth it. I never had any pro controller from any companies who are selling those products for 200$ or even more so i don't have any comparison but if someone would give me rise4 before saying that it's much more expensive than 40$ i would believe that. It definitely feels like a 'pro' and makes your play much easier and that's what it is all about.
I deadass thought I was gonna break my controller but you helped me out so much and made it simple if anyone nervous about doing all this diy trust me this guy makes it easy jus take your time
@Voltress YT I just followed the directions, if you're talking about the actual paddle square, it stays in place with the whole controller back cover put on right, just make sure you line everything up correctly and be patient, don't force if it doesn't feel right because you might break something, I had additional tools besides the ones included so it helped
@@SRTquattro05 do the paddles feel kinda mushy for you as well or did I fuck that up as well ? Mines work but feel super mushy feels like I’m not clicking it I still can’t get the cover to stay on there 🫠
Excellent video. Just bought a remap kit for myself and will use this video as an installatn guide. Thanks for the exposure to this nifty piece of tech.
The metal paddles are durable. A little wobbly compared to the plastic. The plastic people complained about them breaking but not sure how much that's changed since they updated the plastic paddles. The paddles feel firm. For which ever you decide to get, keep in mind that the V1 is ONLY compatible with BDM-010, they also might still have the non updated plastic paddles on the V1. The V2, RMB, and Rise4 are all compatible with BDM-010 and/or BDM-020.
WAY BETTER than extremerate because the camera quality/shots & explanations were perfect. Extremerate should've just hired you but thumbs up, comment, & share is least I could do. Bravo sir. 👍
I followed the video step by step and now my controller won’t turn on. When I plug my controller into my ps5 through usb-c the controller lights up orange then turns back off. Any ideas what could’ve gone wrong?
Aight I’ve successfully just finished putting this together and it works flawlessly great guide it was my 1st time. I decided to not cut the cables tho incase I need either or down the road I’ll have them. I just put electrical tape over the ones I wasn’t using (the 10s) and connected the 20s. Highly recommend this for future proofing and swaps into another controller when they get drift. Other thing I recommend is connecting the k1 and k2 paddles to the backing in the beginning as doing it in the air with the black ribbon pass thru was a little cumbersome. The trickiest part was the little brown cables on the bottom of the controller where the mic is. During the build it’s very easy to accidentally tug on it or have it get trapped as your going. Always check its positioning as its fickle and easily comes undone and can get stuck in the incorrect position. I imagine this is why a few people had issues with their mics afterwards. I also only peeled a quarter of the top and bottom of the sticker area before applying to battery. That way in future I can easily take it off when swapping kit out into another controller down the road. 10/10 best guide for this rise 4 kit! Aloha 😎🤙
Yeah, change the chip and the cover for the remap kit. You can use the Rise 2.0 paddles if you want as well. The Rise 4 paddles are slightly different so you can see which one you like.
If you're good with soldering, someone mentioned they desoldered the switches it came with and soldered new ones that were less sensitive. Extremerate is also releasing a Rise4 metal version maybe in July. The metal kit should have switches that are less sensitive. Just like the RMB remap kit.
Honestly the soldering was really easy. Got a super cheap soldering kit from Amazon for like 10$ and it took all of 60 secs to do for L3 and R3. But I really like the Rise4. I upgraded from the older one with 2 paddles. Love the clicky feel/sound, but not too sure I like the placement of the K3/K4 buttons. Will take some getting used to. Hella helpful install guide though. These are def worth it imo if you are into competitive FPS games. No delay in the button click and actual game response as far as I can tell.

Dude, thank you SOOO much! I tried using the official guide and it got really confusing. Your guide was perfect. Really appreciate it!
Glad I was able to help. Thanks for watching!
@@im.a.caveman is there a video showing how to install the red wire to remap the dpad to the paddles ?
@@akaCorrupts You don't need the red wire for the dpad. The red wires is to be able to remap the touchpad. The other black cable is to remap R3 and L3. Both which require soldering.
You don't need to do soldering to remap the dpad. You just have to do the installation you see in the video. Please make sure to connect the cables compatible with your control.
Do yours still work?
Thank you for this guide!
I did everything correctly except I forgot to plug the trackpad back in. Whoops. Had to open it up again just to fix that, but now it works perfectly.
Where is that part??
Excellent video; much better than the official video from eXtremeRate! Thank you very much for making this!
Thanks for the great tutorial. Followed your steps and had my remap kit installed in 15 minutes. Works great.
thank you so much for this guide! I was so scared to mess with the hardware but watching you do it gave me so much confidence to do this myself
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
Never build a controller in my life tried to do led lights and paddles with triggers did a bdm20 !!wish I could show you my build it’s a pred slayer for Apex legends!! Thank you for all the help. I can’t tell you how many times I watched ur videos! I took apart 3 controllers put them back together and then!
@@PNWLiving1725 when it wasn’t clicking, the buttons weren’t 100% responsive. They were after.
@@im.a.caveman So what do u prefer the rmb or plastic version?
@@pootato69 I prefer rmb since the paddles won't/shouldn't break and the switches aren't as clicky. The switches are tough so they require a little more pressure to activate compared to the plastic.
Just installed this today on my second day of owning my ps5 easy great and couldn’t regret it only thing I can say is it’s very important to adjust the pressure of the screws on the button mother board for the perfect click pressure for K1 and K2
Also you should put out a video with Soldering L3 and R3 it’s super easy but would have been better to only have to watch this video lol the actual makers video sucks compared to this amazing job on the detail and step by step best video out there
Thanks! I don't have a soldering version yet since I don't know how to solder yet. But when I do I might start to play around with other things.
Never thought about that. Upgraded to Rise4 because my original Rise kit had a switch/button fail on the mobo
@@im.a.caveman thank you so much for this greatly detailed tutorial!! The problem is, I tried another tutorial first, that was for the BDM01, and my controller won't turn on since. I've removed everything and started over since watching your video and can't seem to get it to turn on/light up. Any ideas what's wrong? Thank you again!
@@xxAKILLEESxx If you mean the control isn't turning on then it could be because the incorrect cables were connected. Or maybe the battery wasn't reconnected.
This is THE best guide out there...I viewed at least 10+ videos in full, including the extreme rate one and this is by FAR the best...thank you SO MUCH for zooming in, that saved me when a little silicone piece fell off and i had no idea where it came from! I got this done on the first try pausing your video as needed. I feel so proud, my first time doing anything like this and thanks to your tutorial - it went PERFECTLY. You did so well, thank you
Does your paddles still work?
@@voltressyt199 yes
@@alert-mercyI installed mine and everything works well but anytime I turn my controller on I hear this beeping/ cracking sound
@@elijnr I'm not a professional and really wish i could help you :( i'm not the best source as this is new to me too...
if it works then roll with it perhaps/just play...
what *i* would do was open it back up, follow the video to back things out and start from the beginning - all the while looking at EVERY single little thing to make sure it matches the video. that's what i did when i put the kit on the first time...i paused EVERY 30secs ish...and i used a hand held magnifying glass and tweezers (in addition to what came with the kit). i wonder if the sound you hear is the speaker malfunctioning? sorry but my guess is as good as yours...good luck!
@@alert-mercy don’t worry about it. It got really annoying I tried opening it again to see but some wire cut off. I just angrily smashed the controller. I live in Africa and there’s no way to get an already made controllers. Not sure if they ship here and they’re not on aliexpress. Sucks
Hi caveman. I have been watching the videos a lot lately glad you posted again.
Thanks for watching the vids! Takes me a while sometimes to get a video out but I still have more coming soon.
so would remapping L3 and R3 to the paddles require soldering or is the whole kit solder free? great vid btw
For L3 and R3 it'll require soldering. This is the non soldering version. Which means no remapping for L3, R3 or touchpad. Thanks for watching!
Your guide helped me install the kit without any issues . It took less than 20 minutes for me. Much appreciate it.
Bro thanks for this in-depth and we’ll put together video. Followed along exactly as you said and my back buttons are officially connected and working. Also got them set up how I like. Thanks again. Gotta get the children to bed so I can play now haha.
Does your paddles still work?
@@voltressyt199 yessir. Haven’t had any issue with them at all
Amazing video bro!
I found this: amzn.to/3GJ4aoh
Haven't used it myself but I think I might do a test run on these for situations like this. Might even do a video on it
Buy a new mic..it comes with the flex cable and microphone. Ali express has it . I’m not sure about Amazon or eBay .
Does your paddles still work?
Does it feel delayed because it’s not an official Sony product ?
I deadass thought I was gonna break my controller but you helped me out so much and made it simple if anyone nervous about doing all this diy trust me this guy makes it easy jus take your time
Im gonna order it you didn’t have any problems installing it?

@@dodgeballl what steps do I do to remap it to crouch and slide
Great video, thank you for laying it down so easy step by step, I love the feel of the paddles, can't wait to game!
How does the paddles feel bro and is it still working?
Yo how did you get your back cover to stay on ?
@Voltress YT they feel great, sorry never got to this reply, I have no issues with it and love the buy, would do it again
Hey did you buy the metal paddles or the standard plastic ? I can’t make up my mind on which ones to buy. There’s a $30 price difference
Enjoy and thank you!
@@im.a.caveman thanks. I will keep that in mind !
I just ended up going with the plastic ones. I will try to give an update on the feel once I install the kit.
bought same controller and used your hair trigger video aswell, thx!
I would suggest checking the correct cables were connected and they were connected all the way in.
My kit sucks...buttons gddl horrible and stiff as hell.
Aloha 😎🤙
I have rise 2.0 and I want to change to rise 4. it will only be necessary to change the chip in the box next to the tabs. Am I right? Thanks
Yeah, change the chip and the cover for the remap kit. You can use the Rise 2.0 paddles if you want as well. The Rise 4 paddles are slightly different so you can see which one you like.
Hi caveman! Just installed mine yesterday (v4) anyway possible to make it less sensitive? I can’t rest my hand on it as it’s too sensitive
If you're good with soldering, someone mentioned they desoldered the switches it came with and soldered new ones that were less sensitive. Extremerate is also releasing a Rise4 metal version maybe in July. The metal kit should have switches that are less sensitive. Just like the RMB remap kit.
Theire is an easier way to see if you have a bdm 20 the uk CA logo is only on the back shell of the bdm 020 model.
Also by looking at the triggers, it can help determine from 010, 020, or 030.
Can anyone help I did the whole thing the exact same and now my right dpad isnt working and I have slight stick drift on my left stick
The kit doesn't cause stick drift. And I would recommend opening the control and check the conductive film for the dpad.
No delay in the button click and actual game response as far as I can tell.
after i installed this, my controller doesn't turn on, what do i do?
Did you connect the cables compatible to your control? The BDM on your control has to match the bdm on the cables.
