I've just ordered mines today. I currently have the Razer V2(not chroma) and looking to upgrade as I want 4 back paddles and wireless. Ive been looking at controllers for days researching, trying to decide between Elite 2 KK Max3 Flydigi Apex 4/Vader 4 pro Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra I was about to order the Apex 4 this morning then held off and by chance I see a news article announcing the Razer V3 release this evening It was fate 😁
Those are some interesting choices, but never ever make the mistake of getting the Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra. It's the cheapest "pro" controller I've ever seen, and it's absolutely not worth the inflated price. From that list I'd recommend the Vader 4 Pro, but if you want more gimmicky features, you can get Apex 4. The KK3 Max is a solid choice too, as it has the best paddles I've ever seen on a pro controller, but it's inferior to the Flydigi controllers in every other area.
With so many controllers, I'm hoping you can give me some advice. I'm looking for a wireless controller that can quickly switch between Xbox and PC. Given how a lot of these 3rd party ones come with their own dongle, it seems that the only realistic way to switch the device is to unplug the dongle from one device and plug it into the next. Manually switching dongles is a dealbreaker, as it's quite a hassle to go around the TV furniture where my devices' USB slots reside and tinker back there. The official Xbox Series X can indeed switch with just a tap of the button, but this only works if the other connection is Bluetooth. This is very inconvenient, because the wireless dongle for Windows can't be used, but the dongle is the one that provides the most reliable connection rather than the bluetooth. The other issue is that the D-pad is way too noisy and clicky for my tastes.
The only thing this controller has that most competitors don't is the extra bumper buttons. Which is not worth the price point and there is no option to change the tension of the stick. Otherwise they definitely seem to be going in the right direction.
There's just a lot more alternatives in the market right now with literally the same tech implemented here at a much lower price, like I'm talking less than half the price of this Razer controller. Only reason I could think of to get this is if you're really in to that Razer aesthetic and willing to pay premium for it.

It's so hard to justify prices like these when products like the 8bitdo Ultimate exist. While it may lack some of the features here, it can't be beat for $45 when on sale. Just ordered my second one yesterday for second player
Congratulations on hitting 100K subs! You deserve it Andy! I would like to know the latency of the XBOX Elite 2 controller added to your list. I personally like it. I got tired of buying cheap crap, and getting a poor experience, so now I only buy high end quality products. And yes, there is a higher initial cost, but over time I save money and frustration. Have a great day, Sir! o7
Elite Series 2 and ‘high quality’ don’t belong in the same sentence, the amount of user reports of stick drift and bumper button failure make it clear it’s not high quality inside.
It's nice to see the progression of this. I've owned two of the original Wolverine Ultimate. But switched to Flydigi which makes a better product for WAY cheaper. I have the Apex but the Vader 4 Pro is only $80 and has all of these features.
I've got the Apex and Vader Pro 4 - they're both the best controllers I've ever used. Mouse click triggers on Vader Pro 4 and the fastest polling rate among all controllers, very nice aesthetics and brilliant software customisation. Everyone should really take a look at FlyDigi controllers.
If you are playing on PC only- Flydigi Vader 4Pro, Flydigi Apex 4, Machenike G5PRO V2 and G6PRO Nearlink will be much better solution in category: pice/quality. For Xbox need to buy a "special" dongle.
I would’ve agreed before but the wired is £99 lowkey think this could rival these controllers now. Vader 4 pro may out do it with the proprietary Hall effects they use but tbh for like £40 extra to have warranty and a higher quality build its 100% worth it imo
@@tt._.7857 How a wired model can be equal to wireless models? Anyway each person can chose what he likes. In my opinion, Wolverine 3Pro is overpriced. I had i few razer controllers and sold them.
No review mentioned that the batteries aren't replaceable. So that's the new weakspot. I rather would go for the tournement version, but there the USB-C port is the weakspot.
How is the tension in the joysticks?the last controller had nearly no tension whatsoever. Made it horrible for fps. Nobody ever talks about the actual tension of the joysticks.
Word of warning, the Tournament Edition is NOT WIRELESS, you are literally buying the V2's biggest drawback with the new physical improvements of the V3
@@maestrochris12 Yeah not everyone is buying the V3 for xbox, wired is king on PC for the 1000hz polling rate. Also the V3 pro is severely overpriced for just wireless.
@@clutchy_clutch Yea, I can see I'm part of the very small minority here 😅 I actually have the V2 Chroma and I love it but I ALWAYS had that wish of it being capable wireless connectivity so I don't have to bother with the cable all the time. I found out about the V3 yesterday and I went coo-coo like it was Cocoa Puffs, although I do agree that by comparison to the wired version it *is* massively overpriced just for the wireless capability. I'd be more accepting if it was 130 and maybe even 150 but 200? Dang
I had the V2 tournament edition for awhile and I didn’t like the rear buttons at all. The V3 looks like the left t controller for me as they have made all the improvements I’d of liked. I’ll definitely consider the wired only tournament edition once it comes out. Great video!
Do the analog sticks on this controller have higher tension than the stock Xbox analog sticks, or are they designed to be just as ‘loose’ as the standard Xbox sticks?
Good review, but I'm disappointed you didn't discuss the battery at all. How much game time would a fully charged battery get you? Is the battery replaceable? Etc.
Can you store multiple profiles on the controller and if not, can you switch profiles using the Xbox app WIRELESSLY or do you need to connect the cable to do so? Thanks
@@bb_11-26 firstly, thank you so much for replying. How do you switch between profiles on the controller if you have something like 4 different ones stored on the controller? Do you press the function button?

Honestly in my experience the Tournament Wolverine is way more durable than the Chroma V2 (have had 3 tournaments and 2 Chroma v2). Just feels like the quality has went down with the newer releases. The V3 Pro is almost 3 times more expensive than the disappointing V2. I ended up going for the Vader 4 Pro which feels amazing but can't speak on its durability. It's nice to see a larger company adapt hall effect thumbsticks though and hope they go for a more affordable price point as there's similar options at half the price.
I got the v2 earlier this year. The only issues I have is the back placement other than the wired. But it plays well facts great, having bigger hands makes those 2 extra bumpers op. Makes never removing thumb from stick a real thing
Number one reason I liked the older versions was the placement of those back paddles. Easy enough to get to without accidentally pressing them. Hate the ones on the grips.
@@caleasthetic yeah I don't get it. Putting buttons where you physically need to hold on to the controller means you consciously have to make an effort not to press them depending on how you hold the controller. I really hope these don't hamper how you need to hold the controller. If this helps, imagine having buttons under your palms on a controller. They would be easy to reach but you couldn't hold on too tightly or would need to adjust your grip not to actuate them. That's annoying. There is always a middle ground, so I want to try this one and see if it works.
@@kadedone I do get your point of vieuw actually. It is very logical. But theire are controllers that have just enough resistance on the back buttons, that you dont activly need to focus on not pressing them. The steamdeck has buttons that are placed at such an angle that i dont accidentally press them. and the dualsense edge has the btttons just out of the way that i dont press them when i dont want to/
@@caleasthetic Yeah man so that's what I'm hoping for here. I'm just going off of how they look so far and since the buttons are now on the grip I see potential for issues. But I hope they end up like the controllers you mentioned that are able to resist accidental button presses. You may have better hand discipline than me though because I may tense my grip in certain situations as a reflex so if my finger is resting on a button or a paddle from the elite controllers I'll probably actuate it. I personally think the better solution is to put them in an easy to reach spot near the grip, but maybe not right under where your hand would naturally hold. I loved my v2 chroma so I hope this one works well despite how it looks to me.
As a PC gamer i have used an original PS5 controller but it recently got stick drift so now i preordered the 8bitdo ultimate 2c (Wukong edition wireless), it has hall effect sticks and triggers and a 1000hz polling rate in wireless and wired mode for only $30 ($35 for the wukong edition). Might be worth taking a look at for you as a content creator.
Does it vibrate? I was considering one, PS5 compatible model instead of previous XBOX because it was wireless, but they say "it didnt have vibration because for competetiveness" i was like bruh just add the option to turn that off.. I love the vibration feedback!
I remember people complaining the grips on V2 made it feel gigantic so I understand removing half of it but definitely makes it look like a cheap shortcut
How's the quality of the vibration, if you use it? I like being able to use the same controller for both competitive and immersive games, but most rumble on controllers like this is terrible in comparison to something like the DS Edge.
I got the v2 a couple of months ago, but the features on the tournament edition with the price is definitely worth it compared to most other controllers I’ve seen. I’ll have to get it when mine starts to get stick drift.
I want to buy the razer Wolverine v3 pro but I’m kind of waiting to see how the nacon revolution x unlimited is going to be. What do you guys think should I wait or just buy the razer?
How'd you say you reviewed the v2 chroma which is like 2-3 years old recently. You missed the review for it's successor the V2 Pro it's an upgrade from the v2
I got the nacon revolution pro 5 for my ps5 and happy with it. Great battery life. The only negative I can say about it is the 2 back buttons that are placed at the bottom of the part where you hold the controller. I don’t use back buttons much so I don’t need those 2 any way so it’s not a big deal to me
Really love my V2 pro, so if this ever gets a PlayStation version, I'll definitely buy it since I prefer PlayStation controllers over Xbox. This basically fixes every issue I have with the V2 pro and the original wolverine except for the d-pad
Wolverine has my absolute favorite button layout(even the back buttons, although the new design looks nice)- I held out hope that newest version would let you program keyboard keys, what a downer. I got the Vader 4 a few days ago! And I’m loving it
I’m so glad they brought the old back button layout back! I absolutely hate those stick like back buttons they added. Edit: for some reason the V3 pro has been out of stock on Amazon for a year now 😢 you can only get used ones. So I’m stuck to using this one with the stupid hard to reach back buttons
Great video but i am curious to know your thoughts on the d pad? I've been looking for a controller with a D pad that would be good for fighting games.
Is the 1000Hz polling only functional on PC? If I use this wired on Xbox is it going to be limited to the 250Hz? I only ever play with my controllers wired. What self respecting gamer uses wireless? (That was a joke) The v3 Tournament Edition is gonna be the one I wait for. Unfortunately I’m limited to playing on the Series X so I’m sure the 1000Hz polling won’t work for me but everything else about this controller is a slam dunk win for Razer.
I've bought the V3 Tournament and i am loving it so far, but the left thumbstick (L3) is giving me trouble. Clicking on the L3 shoots it's location to the bottom right, and barely pressing on it does the same thing. Making my characters move backwards. That wouldnt be too much of an issue but now it sometimes doesnt register when i'm moving forward and either moves me backwards or stands me in place when trying to move forward. I'm hoping i can work the kink out but i'm probably going to get in touch with Razer for a replacement.
Does it come with Tall thumbsticks? Also how is the shape in hand compared to a classic xbox/gamesir controller? I want to get a unit but it's hard to decide considering Razer is holding off the TE release to sell more "Pro" units..
What's a better controller for console use I have the victrix looking to upgrade there's the bfg or the razer v3 that are probably the best options on console
Razer has absolutely been watching reviews and making modifications based off of them for at least a year now. Great strategy imo.

Flydigi Apex 4/Vader 4 pro
Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra
I was about to order the Apex 4 this morning then held off and by chance I see a news article announcing the Razer V3 release this evening
It was fate 😁
Vader 4 pro will do you justice and it’s 80 dollars
Those are some interesting choices, but never ever make the mistake of getting the Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra.
It's the cheapest "pro" controller I've ever seen, and it's absolutely not worth the inflated price.
From that list I'd recommend the Vader 4 Pro, but if you want more gimmicky features, you can get Apex 4.
The KK3 Max is a solid choice too, as it has the best paddles I've ever seen on a pro controller, but it's inferior to the Flydigi controllers in every other area.
Don’t get the kk3 nor the turtle beach. They suck
Can you test the xbox series wireless controller both wireless and plugged in using your latency tester?
The only thing this controller has that most competitors don't is the extra bumper buttons. Which is not worth the price point and there is no option to change the tension of the stick. Otherwise they definitely seem to be going in the right direction.
There's just a lot more alternatives in the market right now with literally the same tech implemented here at a much lower price, like I'm talking less than half the price of this Razer controller. Only reason I could think of to get this is if you're really in to that Razer aesthetic and willing to pay premium for it.
This controllers is more for the casual players on the market that don't want to buy some Chinese controller and some adapter to play in their console
@@Teilzeit02 They are all from China, so you can quit with that bigoted bs

@@cjvvaliente Yeah no shit you dumbahh, the point is that razer ist reputable company that is accessible for anyone and for me to get a Flydigi controller in my country I need to go on AliExpress or other Chinese shops
I've used the v2 extensively for several years now (thousands of hours). I didn't even know this came out until I realized that one of the buttons in my current controller started to flake out on me. I'll give the v3 a try.
Did you give it a go yet?
Does this controller have haptics in the triggers? Impulse triggers?
It's so hard to justify prices like these when products like the 8bitdo Ultimate exist. While it may lack some of the features here, it can't be beat for $45 when on sale. Just ordered my second one yesterday for second player
Flydigi Vader pro 4 is probably the second best controller on the market. Behind the Apex 3
is theire going to be a ps5 version with all of these new changes? because the xbox version lacks a gyroscope.
Great review, well spoken and lots of points discussed.
Would the Vader 4 Pro work with a Series X, or are they PC/PlayStation only?
@@madMARTYNmarsh1981 unfortunately this is their biggest issue. PC and Switch only. It costs a lot of money to license for console play.
I use the Apex 4 on my series x via an adapter, and it works great . It's 1000hrtz polling out of the box.
@@tcrviper which adapter? Wingman adapter? Also, doesn't Xbox limited the polling rate for all controllers?
@@Psychotoxic86Flydigi has an awful back button design and their input delay is awful.
@@tt._.7857 lol Vader 4 pro is 1000hz wireless what input delay are you talking about
@@Psychotoxic86 shit yeah true, i always forget people use wireless lol
Not sure if this can beat my flydij apex 4 controller or even the Xbox elite pro 2
No review mentioned that the batteries aren't replaceable. So that's the new weakspot.
I rather would go for the tournement version, but there the USB-C port is the weakspot.
I got the gamesir g7 HE, but I recently found out that gyro aiming is king for controllers 👑 does the V3 have gyro? I dont wanna get the edge man 😂
An impressive product that I'd totally snag on sale below $150. Fantastic review!
How is the tension in the joysticks?the last controller had nearly no tension whatsoever. Made it horrible for fps. Nobody ever talks about the actual tension of the joysticks.
Yeah this is huge for me as well.
You mean the v2 chroma? That’s way too sensitive the sticks. I can’t handle fps games with it
cant wait for tournament edition, thats prop gonna be my go to
Word of warning, the Tournament Edition is NOT WIRELESS, you are literally buying the V2's biggest drawback with the new physical improvements of the V3
@@maestrochris12 Yeah not everyone is buying the V3 for xbox, wired is king on PC for the 1000hz polling rate. Also the V3 pro is severely overpriced for just wireless.
@@maestrochris12wireless is useless. Who would play wireless? I want as little input delay as possible
@@maestrochris12 people buy wired for lower latency my guy
@@clutchy_clutch Yea, I can see I'm part of the very small minority here 😅 I actually have the V2 Chroma and I love it but I ALWAYS had that wish of it being capable wireless connectivity so I don't have to bother with the cable all the time. I found out about the V3 yesterday and I went coo-coo like it was Cocoa Puffs, although I do agree that by comparison to the wired version it *is* massively overpriced just for the wireless capability. I'd be more accepting if it was 130 and maybe even 150 but 200? Dang
you can overclock the dongle it reach 500 polling rate, 2ms imput lag
I loved the old paddle design and I have relatively small hands 🫤
Bro that’s the only reason I like the Wolverine ultimate welp guess I’ll be running that controller too the wheels fall off
I had the V2 tournament edition for awhile and I didn’t like the rear buttons at all.
This should be the perfect device for gaming handhelds like the ally, plenty of buttons for easy shortcuts
If someone is using the “claw grips” doesn’t it mean they are using the remote further down? 😮
For me, it's always the bumpers that wear out first. Bumper Jumper. Will these things last?
Good review, but I'm disappointed you didn't discuss the battery at all. How much game time would a fully charged battery get you? Is the battery replaceable? Etc.
Around 20 hours, but it will vary depending on the brightness of the RGB and vibration strength.
I’ve been using the Wolverine Ultimate religiously for the last 2 years: those extra bumper buttons are so keen
Can you store multiple profiles on the controller and if not, can you switch profiles using the Xbox app WIRELESSLY or do you need to connect the cable to do so? Thanks
yes to having multiple profiles, not completely sure about your other question tho....
@@bb_11-26 firstly, thank you so much for replying. How do you switch between profiles on the controller if you have something like 4 different ones stored on the controller? Do you press the function button?
@@Justin-hh2kj Np bro, First of all, you need the razer app to create, edit, and change profiles. (The app is free and very easy to install on both xbox and windows) From my personal experience, the function button has not worked for changing profiles. But I do have a couple of buds who say theirs works, I may be doing something wrong or it’s just luck of the draw.
@@Justin-hh2kj Also not sure about there being any limits.
I’m still holding onto my v1 cause I just really find the mic mute button very useful. Plus, no issues after all these years.
They need to make the rumble packs removable. Controller is way too heavy.
Or just ditch them in a pro controller!
So the controller has rumble?
Do a few push-ups
@@geekinasabI just don't like rumble myself sucks but yeah a controller being heavy is tragic lmfao
All preference bro some people like a heavier controller. I know I do
There's no affiliate link btw..
its on Amazon though for 200$ I just looked.
@@quintrapnell3605yeah the wired one is definitely a better deal considering that it has all the features of the normal one except a caring case and c'mon who needs that
I just ordered this controller looks pretty darn nice.
I have the Razer Wolverine Tournament Edition (the first) and i loved it, i bought 2 after a year. I didn't liked the v2 and i didn't bought it but now i m waiting for v3 and I'm going to buy it for sure (but the wired edition, i don't care about wireless). Nice Review btw !
Yeah man! Same here! I hope these new ones can work as well but doesn't look as good as the previous ones being out of the way
@@kadedone strange, 90% of people like the buttons on the grops more then the buttons that are more out of the way.
Are you not limited by game server latency?
are the thumbsticks compatible with the elite v2 sticks? 05:20
I think they shouldve added ajustable tension like the elite 2, rubber rapped around, and joystick deadzone calibration feature in the software.
Might be worth taking a look at for you as a content creator.
can you compare input lag with Dual Sense Edge?
Seems like you're paying extra for the brand name compared to something like the Flydigi Vader 4 Pro?
how would you rank it compared to the Scuf Envision? It's only for PC but seems to be very similar
So have you retested the latency? Is it lower now on 1000hz mode. Wondering if it is worth the switch from my v2 chroma
interesting....I wonder why they limit the polling?
I was really hoping that they would increase the thumb stick tension
Does it vibrate? I was considering one, PS5 compatible model instead of previous XBOX because it was wireless, but they say "it didnt have vibration because for competetiveness" i was like bruh just add the option to turn that off.. I love the vibration feedback!
The 360 wired controller is actually almost 2 decades old. It released at the end of 2005.
I'm waiting, too.
First video I watched. Subbed 👍💪
The Tournament version doesnt have the rubber grips
How'd you say you reviewed the v2 chroma which is like 2-3 years old recently. You missed the review for it's successor the V2 Pro it's an upgrade from the v2
Paddles seems in good positions
Is it much faster latency wise when compared to over clocked xbox controller? Also can it be bluetooth or do you need the USB A? Thanks!
I just bought the V3 tournament edition. Will report back tonight on how it feels
How is the V3 TE controller? I’ve heard it has stiff sticks and turns off randomly. 🤔
You can't use the extra buttons for keyboard keys? What a bummer 😢
Probably gonna grab a Vader 4 pro.
Wolverine has my absolute favorite button layout(even the back buttons, although the new design looks nice)- I held out hope that newest version would let you program keyboard keys, what a downer. I got the Vader 4 a few days ago! And I’m loving it
@@tdubbleu76ill have to look into this vader...
Flydigi back buttons are awful, can’t even use 4 fingers.
@@mitchellgarcia4061 Why is that an issue?
Yes, you can. In wolverine V2 for example I have one of the extra buttons assign to F5 for quick saving in games.
Does it have built in deadzone issue the v2 chroma has ? Please respond
Have you done any latency tests on the Scuf Envision Pro?
I love Razer products and I'm curious and stuck between checking Razer wolverine V3 or Xbox elite Series 2?
Elite series bumpers/triggers break down very quickly
Elite Series 2 is fucking garbage, as it will get stick drift and suffer from hundreds of other issues.
Does PS5 DualSense support PC for all games?
I’m so glad they brought the old back button layout back! I absolutely hate those stick like back buttons they added. Edit: for some reason the V3 pro has been out of stock on Amazon for a year now 😢 you can only get used ones. So I’m stuck to using this one with the stupid hard to reach back buttons
Great video but i am curious to know your thoughts on the d pad? I've been looking for a controller with a D pad that would be good for fighting games.
Mild complaint but I wish the shape of the trigger didn’t have such an aggressive hook at the end. Sort of makes it uncomfortable to manipulate
Is there a remapping options for the sticks to put in southpaw?
hows this compare to the g7 se?
This controller is in a class above the elite series 2. This is what we would have expected from an elite series 3.
Is the 1000Hz polling only functional on PC? If I use this wired on Xbox is it going to be limited to the 250Hz?
I only ever play with my controllers wired. What self respecting gamer uses wireless? (That was a joke)
The v3 Tournament Edition is gonna be the one I wait for.
Unfortunately I’m limited to playing on the Series X so I’m sure the 1000Hz polling won’t work for me but everything else about this controller is a slam dunk win for Razer.
1k is only pc
@@clutchy_clutchand only in wired mode.
It would be perfect if you could swap the Dpad and left joysitck. I am incapable of playing on any other layout than a ps5 controller layout
Is the v3 going to come out for the ps5
