Hey Ray. Yeah I know but I think I did plant the smaller cloves to use as green garlic but didn't get round to using them. They'll be used just the same I'm sure haha. I still have a huge bed of garlic on my old plot, it can stay there until i need to harvest it. Danny 🌱

Hi Danny. Wow, it was a productive day. I love your new (old) wriggly tin pot. It really goes well there. You feel good getting things planted. I'm growing Cobra this year too. Great to see it up and running, especially the guttering. You running around with shorts and T-shirt gives the impression its warmer than it is lol. Keep up the good work. Elaine 🌱
Hey Elaine! Isn't it a lovely pot! Oh good luck on the cobra! I think you're right. I just need to bite the bullet and remove the brambles. Urgh. Horrible job. Sadly!! Tbh I don't mind the cold, I prefer it over the heat so shorts with a chill is okay haha!
❤ Danny your garden is beautiful those beds are going to be beautiful with the flowers, when people come over in my garden they always ask why I have flowers in my garden they’re beautiful and because I love them don’t want all green, and they help with the pollinators. ❤great video as usual
Even though my garden is in my back yard some times I just don't want to stop and prep the lettuce I just harvested. Put a few inches of water in the bottom of a deep bucket and put the lettuce in the water in the shade. Then when I go inside, it's still firm and crispy to prep for the fridge. Wow you new plot is looking good. I'd live with the brambles for the season and reap the harvest. If they taste nice, then trim them back when they go dormant. Hi Danny, your garlic, shallotts, potatoes & peas look really good. Great hints,& tips on slug defense. Great video update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I used to keep a stash of paper bags on the plot for harvesting - I quickly realised that plastic bags are more helpful to stop everything dehydrating after picking. I keep all the bags my supermarket items were wrapped in - bread/ cabbage etc - give them a quick wash and they’re good to be used again and again - keep a stash up the plot for harvesting your salads/ rhubarb/ greens etc. Also chuck the salad leaves in some cold water both when you get home but also to perk it back up again just before you eat it. ❤
That's a great idea about the salad/cabbage plastic bags. Why hadn't I thought of that! I also did the paper bag thing & regretted the purchase. Thanks Danny 🌱
Wow! Becoming a glazier! Good job on the greenhouse. If you want crisp lettuce, just pop it into a sink of icy water for 20-30 minutes and it should crisp right up. It also helps to harvest it first thing in the morning. I read a study from the U of Oregon today that used a soil drench of 1 part water/2 parts strongly brewed coffee and 100% of the slugs left the zone. They also tested a foliar spray of 9 parts water/1 part brewed coffee with success. I have not tried either method but they might be worth an experiment.
I’d cut the brambles down. If there are fruit bushes underneath the light might even encourage a crop. And at least you’ll know what’s going on in there. Greenhouse look so cute. You could fill it with flowers to make an awesome display.
Great the greenhouse is sorted mate and our makeshift guttering. cut down the bramble there is bindweed in there too. great looking garlic and mange tout. This weather is doing my head in now. put the salad in a cooler

Beautiful work on the greenhouse, Danny 💚 Your plots are so full now 🌿The best harvests from the peas and potatoes, too. Depends, how you harvest your lettuce -If you're taking whole heads, pop into a bit of water. Hello! Lovely to see you here. The metal raised beds are an investment & and weren't bought altogether, haha! Oh, a nans welshcakes can't even be compared. Right?! Get a harvest of the bramble but remove before autumn as they are one of hedgehogs favourite houses so you wouldn't want to disturb anyone hibernating ❤
Before you fill the greenhouse, how about taking out the old poly carb sheets and then glueing them back in with "Gorilla Sealant"? Stress free then. I'll have a Double 99 please.
You've mentioned this before and was a consideration, however I've been offered some more glass off my parents (if the right size) so I'm probably going to glaze the lot 😊
Everything is looking fabulous, You've done a great job on the new plot. The greenhouse looks lovely with proper glass in it. You asked what to do with the blackberry patch, if it were me, I would cut it all back, but that's just my opinion, it would make things easier for clearing, and give you a great start for next season. Xx
I grew dwarf dandy dahlias they are perhaps not as great as some of the show ones but they are prolific with interesting flowers all from a cheap pack of seed good luck with the new plot
Carrots like a free flowing moist soil, not over compacted, too germinate. Cut the bambles down, best to slowly dig them out, buy a thornless blackberry, would give you one. But New Zealand to far and quarantine be a bit difficult😅
Hi Danny, 28.21 what are those beautiful little trailing red flowers,l need to get them ❤ with Dahlias l find planting them in the darker corners of my plot really makes them stand out.Another great video thankyou Danny ❤
Chop the brambles back now, before hedgehog hibernation time, get rid of the bindweed in there, and let a couple of canes start growing in a controlled way for next year.
How 😎 Cool is that-you have an ice cream truck come around!!🎉 The consensus is out-Cut the messy brambles down. Dig out all the crap and replant more gold berries if that’s what you love. We just had our first taste of honeyberries and we will be planting more!!🎉 Delish! Don’t know if you have them where you are, but highly suggest to get some if you do. I’m with Tony on take a cooler to take lettuce home. We had loads of rain a couple weeks ago and cool weather also. The peppers and a few others were taking on a lime green color. I gave them all a bit of a nitrogen boost and now we will head into at least 3 super hot days of 90+F and humidity. Rain early morning and appears most of the week. So we’ve been racing to get the heavy jobs off our list. Things like mulch and covering pathways to protect from heat. And getting the rest of plants and seeds in. Kudos to you on greenhouse job!
Haha don't you have ice cream vans? They come round with a jingley song and you can buy fresh ice cream haha! Ps we have honeyberries here, I shall have to get some for the fruitcage. If you see me planting some.. just know it was your inspiration! Danny 🌱
Put your salad in a bag with a little cold water and pop it in the fridge for a bit, when you get home, and Bob's your uncle. Id wait for the blackberry harvest and freeze those for eating later before you cut back that area. Its not long for the blackberry harvest now. And then you have that time to get another poject done, too. P.s. im living the galvanized bowl. ❤
Thank you Catherine! Yeah you're right about the blackberries. I'm holding out... but also I need to get the shed sorted. It's a toughy! We shall see. Thank you I'm really pleased with the new planter. Danny 🌱
Cold weather? Just earlier today it dumped a lot of hail stones, fortunately small ones, but it certainly was noisy. I had just put the latest tomato starts out, and used an umbrella to grab the pot to lift it and put under the eaves. It's sunny now. 🤷 Goofy weather.
Hope your moving the water container away from the greenhouse to improve light and enable cleaning Good job on glazing I got worried on the ?ladder leaning over that glass but no fall so all ok. Chop that messy bushy block on its head it will just get bigger. Surely you’re not eating all those potatoes in one meal Danny. Get a net wash bag affray washing the lettuce in cold water put it in the bag zip up and hold it like a windmill swing it high in air to get water out. I got that from you tuber channel andy160676. Brilliant dries better than those lettuce machines. then if storing put it in like typer wear container on top of paper towel keeps much better in fridge. Very cold and wet still very frustrating garden wise.
Thank you for the tips! I'll give them a go! The tank will eventually either be attached to the new shed and covered with a cladding or put further back behind the greenhouse. Danny 🌱
Seriously, is it my iPad or the video? Is anyone else’s mute for the first 5 minutes? It happens a lot in your videos Danny but I never see anyone in comments saying anything lol It’s all looking great anyway, the hard work is paying off! X
How strange! Yeah, nobody else comments about it. How weird!!! It plays fine for me..even on my tv. I checked last week. I'm sorry it's not working for you 😔
Hello Danny, to keep produce fresh, how about to compliment your 12v system, a 12V fridge from Halfords or other suppliers, I’ve got one and it’s a hot and cold box, it’s very good, Andy
Sadly the allotment rules don't allow them to grow like that. We are surrounded by 6foot deep hedgerows of brambles etc.. so the bees always benefit from our site thankfully!
That's a great question! I have done both! But I've found blanching them and then straight into icy water.. then onto a baking tray to freeze.. then popped into a sandwich bag works for me. But sometimes I just rinse and pop in the freezer, as they won't be in there long haha! But if I want them for winter I definitely blanche. Danny 🌱
Danny, did you have any problems being accepted for rehousing hedgehogs? Because our local Hedgehog rescue centre doesn't live rehousing hedgehogs on allotments where weed killers may be used.
@TheGrowUpChannel I wish ours did. I will try and change the Society constitution but there are some die hard Round Up users on site. Such a shame that the Government keep putting back the date to ban such weedkillers

That's a good point about the hedgehogs! Something I hadn't considered! Thank you 🌱
Before you fill the greenhouse, how about taking out the old poly carb sheets and then glueing them back in with "Gorilla Sealant"? Stress free then.
I'll have a Double 99 please.
You've mentioned this before and was a consideration, however I've been offered some more glass off my parents (if the right size) so I'm probably going to glaze the lot 😊
@@TheGrowUpChannel Cool!
Nematodes are amazing! I have watered in 2 lots so far, at 3 weeks apart, and I will do one more in a week’s time.
They really are a great investment!!!!
So glad you've got your greenhouse glazed!😊 Petunia pot looks stunning ❤
Isn't it lovely! So pleased with the petunias 😊🌱
Xx
Thank you Jean! Yeah I think you're right. I just need to knuckle down and cut it right back. Danny 🌱
I grew dwarf dandy dahlias they are perhaps not as great as some of the show ones but they are prolific with interesting flowers all from a cheap pack of seed good luck with the new plot
Oh thank you! I shall add to the list! They sound familiar.. maybe I've grown them before at home. I shall order some. Danny 🌱
Carrots like a free flowing moist soil, not over compacted, too germinate. Cut the bambles down, best to slowly dig them out, buy a thornless blackberry, would give you one. But New Zealand to far and quarantine be a bit difficult😅
Oh if only it was that easy to send plants haha thank you! Yes I've considered a thornless blackberry for the new fruitcage. Danny 🌱
Hi Danny, 28.21 what are those beautiful little trailing red flowers,l need to get them ❤ with Dahlias l find planting them in the darker corners of my plot really makes them stand out.Another great video thankyou Danny ❤
Thank you Joyce. They are similar to a little red petunias...but are actually called Calibrachoa POCKET Red.
They are gorgeous aren't they! Danny 🌱
Chop the brambles back now, before hedgehog hibernation time, get rid of the bindweed in there, and let a couple of canes start growing in a controlled way for next year.
Yeah you're right. I wouldn't want to damage a hogs home after they've made it for autumn. So that's a good point. Thanks Frances 😊🌱
How 😎 Cool is that-you have an ice cream truck come around!!🎉
The consensus is out-Cut the messy brambles down.
Danny 🌱
@@TheGrowUpChannel you scream , I scream, but we don’t get any ice cream here😅
😂😂😂😂 that's criminal lol!
Great video mate, brave man playing with glass I hate the stuff
As do I! Haha it wasn't enjoyable at all 🤣🤣🤣
Put your salad in a bag with a little cold water and pop it in the fridge for a bit, when you get home, and Bob's your uncle.
Danny 🌱
@@TheGrowUpChannel
What about making a narrow path just to get to the shed. Best of both worlds then. 😀
Use a cool bag wrap the lettuce ina wet tea towel take home incool bags
Great idea! Thank you Steve. Danny 🌱
Cut the brambes down. Lovely update Danny
I'm dreading it Cheryl haha. Thank you 😊🌱
@@TheGrowUpChannel it will be fine. I am hoping to be at the plot tomorrow at 4.
Haha you're so right the weather is so irratic! Danny 🌱
I had roasted mangtout for tea last night, they were yummy 😋 what about a little sandwich cooler bag for the lettuce ...
Oh I have one haha! But usually I keep cold drinks in that. I best get another 😂😂
🎉🎉🎉 you did it!
I did! Haha thank you 😊 🌱
great video Danny old subscriber here with new channel Gary formally allotment adventure tv have re subbed
Hello! Welcome back! And goodluck with your channel. What a challenge ahead you have, but I think it's worth it. Danny 🌱
Danny 🌱
Looking marvellous, what a difference a few months make. Have you mentioned about that remote camera yet?
Months? I've only had the plot 3 weeks haha! But if you mean all the plants, absolutely 😊 the camera video is due this week. Danny 🌱
Seriously, is it my iPad or the video? Is anyone else’s mute for the first 5 minutes? It happens a lot in your videos Danny but I never see anyone in comments saying anything lol
It’s all looking great anyway, the hard work is paying off! X
How strange! Yeah, nobody else comments about it. How weird!!! It plays fine for me..even on my tv. I checked last week. I'm sorry it's not working for you 😔
@@TheGrowUpChannel really is weird, I dunno what to do about it, technology hates me lol thanks for confirming anyway
Maybe open up the browser on your iPad and watch there.. rather than the app..try that? Or try on a tv... let me know ♡
Hello Danny, to keep produce fresh, how about to compliment your 12v system, a 12V fridge from Halfords or other suppliers, I’ve got one and it’s a hot and cold box, it’s very good, Andy
Hey Andy! I actually have a Halfords one myself! Great aren't they! But I tend to use it when camping too. May consider one for the plot too. Danny 🌱
Could you leave some brambles. Invaluable for bumble, honey bees etc and home to hedgehogs.
Sadly the allotment rules don't allow them to grow like that. We are surrounded by 6foot deep hedgerows of brambles etc.. so the bees always benefit from our site thankfully!
Danny when you freeze the mangetout do you blanch them or just freeze please thanks
Danny 🌱
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
😊🌱🫶🤟
Danny, did you have any problems being accepted for rehousing hedgehogs? Because our local Hedgehog rescue centre doesn't live rehousing hedgehogs on allotments where weed killers may be used.
Hey Haydn. Our site has a 0 tolerance for weedkiller 😊 had no problem homing hedgehogs 🦔🦔
@TheGrowUpChannel I wish ours did. I will try and change the Society constitution but there are some die hard Round Up users on site. Such a shame that the Government keep putting back the date to ban such weedkillers
That is a shame. Hedgehogs need as much helps as they can get bless them. Good luck. 🫶🦔🌱
👍❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you Wendy 🌱
Are you feeding multiple people? Those potatoes would have done me at least 4 meals!
It's fathers day weekend 🤣 had parents here for a Sunday lunch haha
@@TheGrowUpChannel Ah of course! Happy Father’s Day to the fathers.
Cut down the bramble.
Agreed haha
