Allotment tour video if you interested : • Allotment Tour |Surviv...
So many of you wanted to know the reason behind me giving up my allotments which were meant to be my prepper garden to grow loads of veg for long term storage. So here we are! I’m very sad to have to make the decision but I feel it was the safest thing to do.
Welcome to Anas food and lifestyle, my name is Ana and I'm a prepper based in UK. I'm a prepper by nature so over the years I have learned a lot of cooking and food preservation skills. On my channel I cover everything you need to know about Average person prepping, including cooking, dehydrating, preserving and growing, amongst many other helpful videos to help you on your prepping journey.

I have an allotment run by the council, except the council doesn't do anything. They leave us alone and we do whatever we like - perfect.
Yes if it was run by council only, perfect! I will have to find another one
Same here, our allotment site is also Council run and we are left alone to grow as we please. No Committee busybodies to interfere and introduce stupid rules.
Moving the Polytunnel sounds about the same as moving The Music Box with Laurel and Hardy
The Music Box - 1932 with Laurel and Hardy
Its not been unknown for Allotment Bullies to end up with unfortunate tragic Pick Axe Accidents as well.
It’s too bad when someone is in charge like this who has no business being in charge. It just ruins things for others. I hope your home garden is even more bountiful.
Absolutely they shouldn’t be in charge. Thank you, I will do a video tour of garden when we get a dry spell 😊
@@AnasFoodLifestyle looking forward to it! 😃
I think the parish council should be taking back control of the allotments. Although the matter took place outside of the council property it is more of a civil matter I would say. However it is relating to allotment matters where you were helping to benefit the allotments with a polytunnel. Therefore there should be a meeting where the matter is discussed confidentially and the council should have the final say on the matter. It’s a very unique situation. However you would and should be able to go to the parish council to discuss this as an urgent grievance towards another tenant. There is an allotment law the allotment acts 1950 that the parish council would have to keep to they should really be serving a notice to quit on the guy for serious breach to their tenancy agreement with a ban if it happened on site. I would file a police report of the incident you can then request cctv if any from where the incident took place.
I’m on the committee in our allotments. We really have no “power” over plot holders. This is just something that applies here in Ireland but we pay our rent to the council as it’s their land, therefore our contract is with them 🤷♀️ it’s a simple case of consumer law here. I don’t know if it’s the same in the UK so I would suggest you email them and ask that
Sorry for what has happened but it just goes to prove what I say about communities not working in a SHTF situation. There will always be someone who wants to control things. Try not to let it get you down and hope things sort themselves out.
Yes I totally agree. I’m against SHTF communities as you may know for many reasons including that one. Thank you 😊
I'm so sorry you and your family went through this, Ana. I don't have any allotment experience for potential solutions but I wish you all the best and hope you can really enjoy your own garden this year. And hope you're enjoying your wine. :)
Thank you 😊 yes I will make the best if it, I will do a garden tour soon. Yes wine is going down well 🍷
Ana, In my area, the allotments are owned by the Parish Council, so I would make that your first call, mention about the no dog rule and it's health issues.
Someone has to own the land, is there any information about who that might be on your tenancy agreement ?
Also contact the local newspaper and explain your story with the saw waving in front of a child and the guys rule changing to them to suit his own situation and allowing dogs into the allotment to foul the area and again mention the health issues. Ask the two committee members who resigned it it is ok to give the paper their names. If it is council run , they will move very fast to sort out the problem.
Thank you, council gave me the number of a guy who is area recreation council who is responsible for the area, I’m on it like a rash 😁
@@AnasFoodLifestyle Good girl, play on how scared you were for you and your child.
Good luck 🤞🏼🤞🏼
🤞
The allotment should have a AGM every year where new people are voted on to the committee .there sgould be at least 3 but often 5. If it goes below the constitution number the an EGM can be called .However, committee members are also allotment holders so you are all equal and volunteering when doing allotment group tasks. The incident was off site so l cant see why anyone got banned from their plots but maybe avoid each other for a day or so .Seens as if the whole day/morning seemed to have been stressful & chaotic from being to end for everyone. From what you say l can see waving a saw and threatening another as being equally unwise and scary and tbf the resulting action by the committee was over the top esp when originally the intent of everyone was good & to help each other and the allotment community as a whole. So sad 😢. Giving a bit of time for calming and reflection (☕ & 🍪 ) would have done the world of good in resolving and understanding what went well & wrong . Just my opinion 🤗s to all sides. (l would like to add that a person's mental wellbeing is a bit irrelevant as everyone lost a bit of emotional control - sounds like one horrible day to have when expectations where high 😢) - not worth giving up a plot for -time does heal believe me. I have seen similar & worse 😅 in my time in allotments. Hope it works out
I haven't commented here before but after hearing the difficult allotment situation, I feel like I just want to say this: take some time out to decide. I'd like to think everyone can keep their allotment. The bees can be looked after. The man with the mental health issues can continue to benefit from being at the allotment. More understanding of the difficulties of being on the committee has increased in awareness. Perhaps the man could step down from being on the committee too and a new election held under the guidance of the council. Things happen and lessons are learned. Life moves on there will be new allotment holders and new committee members, and it will all be forgotten. Seems a shame to give up what you have already invested so much energy into. Your allotment is in good form, we can't always find that immediate justice we seek, just stay with it a while. let the momentum drop.Think about your veggies and take care of them!
The trouble is people don't get put in their place often enough.
I don’t under allotments. What keeps others from harvesting your food?
Honesty and karma 😁
Oh my god, all this hassle just to grow a few veggies. I had one along time ago ,never again to many karrens. It's a shame for you and your family. I built my self a load of veggy boxs with every bit of space in my garden and it's great being your own boss.Take care ❤
Thank you😊 I will be maximising my growing space in the garden this year
For some reason you tube won't allow me to post . Not the first instance this has happened but it's getting awful trying now !
It worked
@@AnasFoodLifestyle It's not the first time on your channel , and it happens with several others . One poster , i post direct by email , cut you tube out completely .
I tried to post yesterday , but it wouldn't up load . Managed to on one occasion , and it got removed , tried again today , with a different post , same thing .
Getting tiring now , but i can't figure out why ? . What i've posted below is the original post from yesterday .
How do you post via email? I thought you have to be logged in to yt to post

It’s the first time I watched one of your videos. I’m so very sorry this has happened. It’s shocking really. No good deed goes unpunished as they say. Can you get in touch with the council?
I’m in the process now but so far they say allotment association is in control which is where the only 1 person left in control
I am so terribly sorry hat all of this happened. It ne ver seems to fail that once you try to organize, some do all the work and some do little, and some get power-hungry and abuses that power. I don't blame you for running out, but applaud your effort for others.
(All of this is one reason why I don't think co-ops, bartering and small groups will work post SHTF, and why people will be ready to give in to government control, but well, you know what will happen.)
Thank you 😊 and I don’t believe the groups post shtf work neither, it is always going to be one ( though you need a leader) it is normally end up being the wrong person
start righting things down with dates + TIMES OF THINGS HE HAS SAID AND DONE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE YOU NEVER KNOW IT MAY HELP YOU.
Oh my goodness Ana. This is awful. My heart goes out to you and your family. How frightening for not only you but your daughter to have to witness this. It’s stuff of nightmares. You are one strong lady and I think a fighter for justice not only for yourself but others too. Out of any disaster, we can learn something either for the future or about ourselves. I think if it had been me, I may have added fuel to the fire by off loading everything and told them to stuff it, in stronger language unbecoming of a lady; I’m not you thankfully, I have a terrible temper when roused and would have probably exacerbated the situation. I hope you find closure to this soon. Keep us informed of how you get on. Those who follow you feel we know you and care for you. God bless young lady. Much love. 🥰
Thank you 😊 I should have offloaded it, I did consider taking a part of it when taking my possessions but I wanted to raise above it .
⛪Next time you get a clear Sunday morning, go to church, and pray for these muppets.👍
Just Amazing your video and your look pretty good💕💕💯
Sure file complaints with the council, If you're quitting because of violence and intimidation you might ask the council to be moved up the waiting list for a plot in another part on town. A committee can call an emergency general meeting if they wanted to, though if you've already quit now you personally don't have any more influence than any other outsider.
I will try. Theres only him left on committee as everyone he’s has resigned after the incident, so it’s a weird position
@@AnasFoodLifestyleUmmm I'm fairly sure the regs require a committee to include a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, at least three people... The council needs to take back direct control if a proper committee can't be formed, ,,, if there are any committee funds there needs to be other members overseeing what's happening, else money has a habit of disappearing...
Yes 2 out of 3 resigned after the event so to me council should take over as you say
Personally i think your better off outta there , the atmosphere sound decidedly dodgy . Now hands up here , i'm not a gardener , but there are certain elements that are beginning to interest me . I don't know how big your garden is , or what you grow , but don't forget you can go vertical with some crops . Look up strawberry towers on you tube , lettuce can be grown the same way , or in pockets along a fence , to my mind many others can be cultivated in the same way . Potatoes grown in buckets , tomatoes grown in bottles , it seems the possibilities are endless . I have even seen an odd ball where tomatoes have been crossed with a potato plant to grow both crops at the same time . I'm not sure if that was a con , chances are it was , but small space gardening seems to be the in thing nowadays . There are in some ways advantages too . Should the sun actually make an appearance (okay stop laughing) , you are on the spot for a drop of watering . You could even pop out for a couple of minutes in the evening to do odd jobs . This could very well be a step forward .
Thank you. I do have a garden and do grow things there too but don’t have huge growing space to grow loads of potatoes, corn, pumpkins, the big crops. I will do a video of my garden soon, when it’s dry
Unfortunately this is the way of the world. Its getting worse, and this is why things are getting bad. Stay strong....
Thank you 😊
I've seen this before.
1st. The council run the allotments.
2nd. The council allows the committee to exist as long as it works.
3rd. A simple vote by everyone to ban the guys, taken to the council, WILL see a new committee created.
4th. If he fails to give in any keys or his position, you just work around him/them untill they get the message.
5th. If he refuses to leave, you go to the council. Also, you call the police AFTER the council has put it in writing that he is off the committee. This gives you someone to show the copper when you call them the "prevent a breach of the peace!"
6th. By then hell get the message.
Finally, DON'T GIVE IN TO BULLIES.
It all sounds very Cultural, I suspect this man is a Muslim from some Foreign Nation. Truly, it is a gut feeling!
@greensage395 What a ridiculous comment to make
@@sowgrowandcook not really, in this day and age it only means I can see beyond the Story....what kind of man gives off such a aloof posturing to a woman? A Muslim!
From the moment you said the guy wanted to sit in the back of the van holding the wood out the back, that was a red flag. Clearly there are serious issues with how they were trying to manage the allotment, an example of a little power going to their heads. I'd say best away from them, except you enjoyed your time there and it had a real purpose for you.
Thank you, I’m best away from there however sad but I will try to get sone justice if I can
It happens always when people get together, just look at government, the ruthless power hungry become in charge. Best do your own thing.
that is disgusting behaviour....i have an allotment and that behaviour is unacceptable and you should not be forced off your allotment..you should have asked for a transfer to another allotment in your town or at the very least put in a complaint.......we dont have this issue with our committee....but we do have issues....they are all ex high flyers and were on various committees during their employment so they still find themselves useful and meaningful by being on various committees in their semi/retirement....and like all committees they cant agreed on anything so nothing really moves forward at great speed....but hey ho at least they leave me alone. wish you well
You are 100% correct about the need to be “ someone “ I’m in process of finding a means to complaint, council only owns the land and the committee run it
@@AnasFoodLifestyle you will find the committee doesnt run it...they are all volunteers..if there is bullying and abuse, this is unacceptable...report it and good luck i wish you well
Totally disrespectful. Good manners cost nothing.
They don’t and neither is the respect for other people and their property
What a horrible scary experience with that guy and you had your little one with you to ❤️ You know what, every time you would see them both on the allotment it would make you angry inside, you would be on your guard and the food you grow wouldn’t taste nice, so best out of there. Something else will turn up. Go foraging or gorilla gardening, you don’t need an allotment for that. Peoples fuses are short, your best out of there to be honest.
Can you go to the police xxx
I’m not sure if they would entertain, their word against ours, but it certainly have crossed my mind
Giving someone a hiding is a criminal offence in the Uk whatever the reason for it. If you have a problem then call the police. Do not take the law into your own hands. Report this to police now and get a crime number then take number to the Council.
Saying or doing is a very different matter. Saying that “you deserve a good hiding “ is not against the law. And I very doubt the police will be interested 🙁
Stick to your guns girl ! "Klicks" and 'family ties' can make a real mess of even such lovely things such as your allotment. Sorry.
Thank you 😊
WOOOD STICKING OUT VAN IS FINE
YOU TIE RED RAG ON END.
DON'T RUIN SOMETHING JUST TO GET IT IN VAN.
We had no means of strapping it down and person sitting in back of van is not safe or legal. I wasn’t prepare to risk a fine just for someone’s sake
TBH you sound like the problem.
I think you might be deaf then !
