Good video, Danny. My garden is a mess, but will have to stay that way until early Spring. I start Physical Therapy on my shoulder injury this week, so no pulling, raking, lifting, , etc. All the physical work that needs done now, but not possible. Looks like you still have a lot of production going on in your plots. Looking forward to that polytunnel build video soon!

Hi Danny great video I don’t get the cold weather don’t mind I would like a little sometime to take away some of the heat lol, but some of the info was still useful to me the slugs, and hanging some of my pakchow in the garden that’s a great idea because they love it, I have dig and also raise beds a couple of pots I don’t really like to use much pots because of the slugs, have a wonderful week and happy gardening Gloria ❤❤
Good video Danny even if I’m on a different continent. Tips are always useful I just want to tell you down here in Tasmania we’re coming into summer, and my little brassicas seedlings that looked like they were going to fail are now big out in the garden beds and one I put out even earlier in hope it would develop has a lovely cauliflower (they are baby size veg) so excited, the broad beans I planted late autumn are still in flower but I spotted two pods so I’ll not cut back and hope I’ll get a crop. The sweet peas are starting to flower and calendula are gorgeous so cheerful by the front gate. Now I wait on planting out the tomatoes and cucumbers still in the house like UK the weather is all over the place 20 C one day 15 the next. Keep up the happy channel. Thanks for all you do too.
Ahh your summer is finally here! I hope its better than ours this year haha. That'd great, I've done that in the past. Noticed one plant.. rocketing ahead faster than the others. Worked out well for me too. Sweetpeas at the entrance is a great idea for scent. Thank you for watching, as always. Danny 🌱😊
Hi Danny. You had asked for an update. The experiment with the neglected sweet potato at the back of the cupboard went well. It got quite bushy. Unfortunately, I’ve had to put everything to bed. My garden was in large pots & totes on chairs. Did well. All is harvested and cleared out as we will get down to 22F this week. There is no shelter and no greenhouse. The planting beds are just about ready for the 2025 season, & I now have a couple of small rolling greenhouses. We will probably hit anywhere between -15F to -37F this winter. Kind regards. Great video!!!

Brilliant! So true about harvesting things as you need them, regardless of size. No point having loads of produce to use all in one go. Love this vlog, packed with helpful hints and tips! Have a brilliant end to the week! Did the polytunnel go up as planned?
I laughed when you mentioned the BEANS! I was going to tackle them and said-Later. Mon-Tues we will get a frost and more likely a freeze in Wisconsin, US. We flipped plastic on the fall veg and now slowly cleanup. Some of these marigolds definitely need removed 😂 or I will have a garden of solid marigolds next spring. There are dahlia and canna to dig, geraniums to pull, perennials to move, garlic to plant, beds to prep and bark to haul. I have a squirrel that wanted to move into the greenhouse and the mice took care of many sunflower seeds which tells me winter might actually be winter this time. You have slugs and I have voles and they need to GO. Never had them my whole life and they are destructive. Nice tips!
I love this style of video Danny, so helpful with lots of great ideas, top tip with the ribbons I will definitely be using that one and pak choi in hanging basket as everytime I have tried to grow that it's been devoured by slugs and bugs x
I really enjoyed this video Danny. We’ve been up to similar things in our growing spaces this week haven’t we? Think we share the same ideas for winter growing too. I’m struggling to plant out my bulbs as early as last year, as so many summer plants still in the ground where they need to go 😅😂 Your onion sets always look so nice, so nearly set out in coloured rows. Great variety. I love the re-purposing of the ribbon to colour code the canes to be moved. Genuis that was. I can’t wait to see your plots evolve over winter.. starting with the tunnel in 3 more sleeps! Sooo exciting 🎉
I thought this too clare 🤣🤣 yes the ribbons will definitely come in handy in winter when I need to distinguish what plants are which. Linda likes them for decoration 😊🌱 plenty of plans for autumn and winter! Thanks clare. Danny 🌱🌱

Hi Danny, lots of tips in this brilliant video! I passed on your tip on saving seeds in nets, I have smaller net bags from (asda 20p each) to other plot holders on our site including me! I have lots of them hanging in my polytunnel drying out 😊 thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Great update Danny as usual loads of tips and advice , i have already started to prepare my beds for next year , i dont grow much over winter oy overwintering onions and garlic which ive already planted out last week so now my new plans need sorting at a leisurely pace lol 😂
Hi Danny, I always feel that Autumn is a great time in the garden as things start to slow down a bit, and we get time to think ahead, rather than being full on weeding, watering and harvesting. Thank you for this informative and easy to listen to video. Take care, have a great week ahead (is this week THE week for tunnel shaped things to be done on your plot?) xx
Haha absolutely Jean! I love autumn too! A tad wet on times but it's cooler and you get to reevaluate about the year. And.... YES Wednesday the polytunnel is being build. I cannot tell you how excited i am to he growing Undercover again 😍🌱
So much useful information here, thank you, I have learned a lot. With the bean trench, do gou dig and then leave the trench open to keep adding veg scraps to?
Thanks Sharon! You know, when editing I wish I explained that more.. you leave the soil you dug out next to it (like an open grave haha and after putting veg in (Green). Cover over with some soil (Brown). Think of the compost method of mixing green and browns..until you've got a trench that's full and covered. Let me know how you get on with it! Danny 🌱
Hey Danny ☺️ I only have 4 squash this year 😅 can you beleive it! Hopefuly I will be storing more this year 😊 as you know I've just started my first ever onion sets with your help ❤ I am going to start mine both ways as I have so many 😊 great video lots of useful info as always 😊😊😊 xXx
No, my garden does not want to give up blooming. It's not ready for winter 😂 The asters are blooming and the butterflies and bees are enjoying to feed on the flowers 🦋🌸🐝 I am ready for a break 😅 but the garden not 🤣
Thanks Danny, Concerning your "MONO" garlic. Might you have planted it in the spring?? Or so late that it did not have enough cold days? Ray Delbury Sussex county NJ USA
Great tips there….what variety of yellow raspberries are they please? I inherited some Autumn Bliss and love them but have a loads so thinking of swapping some for a golden variety (Autumn preferably) 🎉
The only issue is; it draws out the nitrogen in the surrounding soil to break it down. Nitrogen is vital for legumes to grow later on 😊 old bark is better . Danny 🌱😊
Hey Jayne. You don't need to remove rhubarb every autumn. I meant, if you want to divide and give some away.. or if you're moving it...the older generation used to leave out on the path to get the frost. Danny
I've never thought about an apple..I know apples pears melons bananas and even peaches produce ethylene.. so I guess all do the trick. Thanks nik 😊 * oh and avacados! Haha
Oh for sure!!!! Best time to sow allium seeds is as fresh as possible, so get them started off in some pots. Don't leave them indoors too long though. Great for germination but in a greenhouse as soon as they come to the surface. The cooler temperatures will slow them down. Plant out in spring. Goodluck!
@jackiefoster8866 you're welcome! I am aching to get mine in.. but waiting for the polytunnel build to be done and then it's full steam ahead ! Danny 🌱
17:43 the IBC tank in the background doesn’t seem to have a down pipe going into it. Can I ask how you collect water in it please as I have one without a down pipe going into it? Many thanks
That's not on my plot, neighbours plot.. but the tank is communal. however it's connect to the shed on the other side of the fence actually and goes into the pipe underground and back up into the tank. It's very clever!
Ok thanks. I don’t have either a shed or greenhouse yet so I can’t put a downpipe into mine. I’ve got an up turned dustbin lid with a hole in it, hoping to catch water but it’s very slow going lol

@TheFarmyardGarden why thank you so much!!!!
Great tips, thank you! I am going to use my baskets to grow pak choi. Keep the tips coming 😊
Marvellous! Keep them high from the start. They'll be immaculate
Oh how good is that ! It works so well! Welldone Christine for sharing the knowledge ! Danny 🌱
Excellent video!
Thank you very much! Danny 🌱
Great update Danny as usual loads of tips and advice , i have already started to prepare my beds for next year , i dont grow much over winter oy overwintering onions and garlic which ive already planted out last week so now my new plans need sorting at a leisurely pace lol 😂
Haha onions and garlic are a good staple though. Cheers jim! Danny 🌱
Danny 🌱
@@TheGrowUpChannel Thanks for explaining Danny, I will do.
That's okay 😊 goodluck with it! Also put the bean vines back in too, and the roots :)
You're allotments are still looking very alive and green, mine have been wiped out by the frosts now, the compost heap is about to get a lot higher.
Aha well it'll soon be in the compost heap too! Haha! Lovely to see you at Malvern Jen! Danny 🌱
@@TheGrowUpChannel yeah, great to see you again. Sorry we didn't get to spend much time with you, I was on a serious shopping mission this time. 😅
Haha no worries!
Thanks Gem! Oh we shall see how both of us get on with the sets. Goodluck with them. Danny ❤️🌱

Thank you 😊🌱

Thank you Vicki 😊🌱

Thank you for watching 😊🌱
No, my garden does not want to give up blooming. It's not ready for winter 😂 The asters are blooming and the butterflies and bees are enjoying to feed on the flowers 🦋🌸🐝 I am ready for a break 😅 but the garden not 🤣
Haha! I've plenty like that too! But I do enjoy the clean up. It really does strip it right back for a fresh start in spring. Danny 🌱
Same here Heidi I have a huge bed of daisies 🤦♀️, I’ll never get my spring bulbs in 😂😂
😂🌝💛
PS happy polytunnel day 🎉
Thank you 😂😊
Thanks Danny, Concerning your "MONO" garlic. Might you have planted it in the spring?? Or so late that it did not have enough cold days? Ray Delbury Sussex county NJ USA
Hey! We harvest in July here so I'd not know what's under the ground until then..harvested July. Replanted October/ November 😊🌱
Great tips there….what variety of yellow raspberries are they please? I inherited some Autumn Bliss and love them but have a loads so thinking of swapping some for a golden variety (Autumn preferably) 🎉
Hello! I inherited the raspberries but In the shed I found a label called " all gold" which is an autumn fruiting gold raspberry. Hope this helps 😊
@@TheGrowUpChannel thanks Danny that’s the variety I was considering 👍🏻
@vanessawilkinson7089 oh they are beautiful and the jam 😍😍
Straw or wood chip at bottom of trench is good in soil that dries out. As acts as a water reservoir.
The only issue is; it draws out the nitrogen in the surrounding soil to break it down. Nitrogen is vital for legumes to grow later on 😊 old bark is better . Danny 🌱😊
@@TheGrowUpChannel woof woof. Lol
Haha!
Are you sure about putting the Polytunnel by there Danny 😉.
I will refrain from replying what I'm actually thinking Ian 😂😂😂😂😂
I’ve never taken my rhubarb out and I ve had it in the same place for over 15 years. It has split itself and spread across the bed.
Hey Jayne. You don't need to remove rhubarb every autumn. I meant, if you want to divide and give some away.. or if you're moving it...the older generation used to leave out on the path to get the frost. Danny
@@TheGrowUpChannel ah ha, I see.
My garden always looks tired just like me😂.
I'm feeling it too lately haha
😂😂
You can put them in a paper bag with an apple and the green tomatoes with ripen
I've never thought about an apple..I know apples pears melons bananas and even peaches produce ethylene.. so I guess all do the trick. Thanks nik 😊 * oh and avacados! Haha
@@TheGrowUpChannel lol trust me I'm a chemist remember 😊
Well chem teacher anyways
😊
Danny
I have a question, I have lots of seeds from my Allium, can I start them off in pots please .
Thank you
Oh for sure!!!! Best time to sow allium seeds is as fresh as possible, so get them started off in some pots. Don't leave them indoors too long though. Great for germination but in a greenhouse as soon as they come to the surface. The cooler temperatures will slow them down. Plant out in spring. Goodluck!
@@TheGrowUpChannel
Thank you Danny
Also planted my spring bulbs today.
@lamperdsfield that will do it!!! I've seen others make a wooden frame on a slant and add a small roof from a piece of plastic into guttering.
@@TheGrowUpChannelthanks for replying 😁. Loved this video 👍
@lamperdsfield Ive replied to every single comment posted since I started my channel 😊😊😊
ahhhhh. mice a a big no - i have to sort my shed like mega fast

Hey Gloria! That's great you can still take some of that information and use in your climate! Those dreaded slugs hey! Have a good week! Danny 🌱
