For that, I thank you from the top of my head and candy 💜!! P.S. I’m going to try minky again just for you. When I saw the title I wanted to run 😂
Hi Tracy! Thank you for the shout out!🥰💗 Great video! I love the pink polka dot binding! I love pink😍 Also I have never heard of a stretchy wonder under. That is so cool!💗🤗
I love great ideas❣️ Thank you for sharing your press n seal hack with all of us💕 wonder under stretch is great for stabilizing minky❣️ Thanks again Robyn🤩
@@TheSewingChannel it would be a good compliment to the rest of the pinks in the quilt. Either dots would be cute, but now that I’m imagining it, the green dots would look really pretty, depending on the shade of green you use. You’ve got a tough choice. Looking forward to seeing what you end up with.
Tracy, you have so many great tips and hacks! Last year I did a quilt top to some minky back, and boy, was it fluff-city at my house! Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to see your completed quilt! Its going to be gorgeous with the pink polka-dot bind! Great choice! ❤👍
Once again I learned so much!! Thank you! The Press and Seal, thread trick, and the insurance seams for backing...all great hacks! Cannot wait to see your quilt to completion!💗💝💗
This is turning out to be a fantastic project! I currently have a quilt being quilted with flannel as my batting and gauze as my backing, in hopes I can use it for a summer quilt. I can't wait to see the end result with the minky and flannel. - Enough Talking Already, whip that next video out!! 🤣🤣Thank you for your videos, I really enjoy watching.
@@TheSewingChannel Tracy, I thought I would give you an update: I have gotten my flannel lined and gauze backing quilt bound, washed and on my bed and it is PERFECT for a summer quilt. I did not wash the fabric for the top, the flannel, or the gauze before hand - I waited until it was all quilted and bound and it washed up perfectly. I washed with COLD water, dried with cool "heat" partially and let air dry the rest of the way. I am going to make another quilt with flannel lined and gauze backing for my spare bedroom this one turned out so great!!
When I have worked with Minky I use my walking foot…less puckering a smoother result. Love the Press n’ Seal! I have to take most of my quilts to Longarmer when they are big…so putting a half inch seam putting the backing together is standard request. They also only allow Shannon Fabric brand Minky or just forget about it. Looking forward to the watching you quilt this…Ok one last thing consider that Raspberry color binding …the polka dots are cute more pink is just making it so washed out in color. I enjoy watching sewing journeys we all go through.
I was actually thinking the same thing on the binding...LOL🤣 it does wash out...This is a process for sure. I have used all sorts of minky type products and free motion quilted on a domestic machine. I have no issues fmq with the "off brands" but when longarming I'm sure issues could arise with cheaper versions...thank you for the tip.💕
Fantastic tips, Tracy!!! I've never heard of Pelon's Wonder Under before. The tip re: putting a string/thread between the WU and flannel is genius!!! Have to agree that the flannel stabilizing the minky is a very smart idea prior to FMQing. Can't wait to see your next video!!! 🥰 BTW: Just got my surger issue straightened out, but decided to remake the bottoms of Josie's outfits. Didn't like the way the crotch seams turned out. Don't want those seams to irritate her skin, so I'm going to re-make. Stand by....
So many good ideas here! I need to write them down. I have used Minky on baby quilts, spray basting the layers together. The Minky I used had the little bumps which cannot be ironed, and I use minimal quilting - it worked out well.
I love Superior Thread's Top Stitch needles! I also order most all my thread from them too. I was lucky enough to tour their facility and watched as they wound "pre-wound" bobbins. Fascinating! Thanks for your great videos! You go girl!
Love your idea for the minky and flannel. I just found MistyFuse, no paper backing, but have to use Teflon pressing sheets, worked great for applique, bet it would work for this also. I've also used the Press n Seal on a baby quilt, covered the top with it, drew my quilting lines, then quilted it. I Was happy with the results, but oh my, taking all that plastic off was a real pain. Once Again, love your videos!
Oh I have to try this!!! I don’t know why, but I love poofy quilts with minky…so my last one I made I used a super thick polyester batting with this gorgeous mint green minky. It came out awesome…but yes it is heavier than I like though. Never thought to use flannel for batting…and the stabilizer, genius!!! You are just full of awesome ideas Miss Tracy. 😊😊 Have a marvelous weekend. PS: my Hobby Lobby didn’t have any of the minky you’re using so I went on their website and ordered one that “looked similar”. Crossing my fingers 🤞🫣🤞
Another tip if you try....some have said to prewash the flannel before fusing it to the minky...due to shrinkage....✅ If the minky was pink gingham then I bet it's the same💕(fingers crossed for you)🤞🏻
I have always wanted to use Minky but am wary of it. Now I think I might give it a go, thanks to your fantastic tips. That wonder under looks really good. I have never heard of it before. It looks better than using 505 for this type of thing. Love your videos Tracy.
I have used tape before to cut minky, an idea I got from Leah Day, but I think the Press and Seal would be a lot easier to do! Thanks! Can't wait to see the next installment!

Fab job on the minky! I can’t wait to see how the layers turn out! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The pink dot is pretty; but I was thinking a raspberry color might tie in the raspberry from the patchwork. Just an idea. Of course, you can see the whole thing and I’m just looking at part of it and you must do what makes you happy! 😊 But, what do you think? TFS 🌷
