I have always enjoyed your video but today, you out did yourself. If I could have given this video a like, (love really), for every tip, I would have. Best, Jenna
*_Wow, thank you Jenna❤️...I tried to put the best in one video- I had a few more but then the video would have been way too long LOL😂_*
Well, I wish I’d had your sewing teacher! I’ve been sewing for 50 years and my ankle is always tired from using the foot pedal the way it’s been designed. But from now on I’ll do it backwards :)
Briliant, brilliant, brilliant. I also have chronic arthritis with the knobly knuckles etc so your tips are super helpful to me. I love the hook's ideas, the clapper (hang on I think that was in the last video). And I will no longer have to chase my foot pedal across the room, a huge problem for me. You are a gem and thank goodness we have you. Cheers Judy
I’ve probably watched 100 sewing tips videos and this one, hands down, has the most unique tips out there. Most the time sewing tip videos are giving you the same tips you’ve heard a dozen times and maybe you get 1 new tip out of it. This video had several brilliant tips I’ve never heard before!
Wow. Thank you so much Deanna💛your kind feedback means so much to me🤓💛
Using a hand weight to hold down your rulers to keep from sliding is good. However, I love vintage/antique stuff, so I purchased a couple of flat irons (also called sad irons) and painted them pretty and use those to hold my fabrics and/or rulers from sliding. I’d show a picture if I knew how.
For me, the traditional way of orienting my foot pedal is the same action as driving my car. It feels natural to me, so I will be sticking with it.
When I learned to sew many years ago in high school our teacher taught us to turn ou pedal around and use our heel. I continue to do this over 50 years later. It gives you so much more control.
*_Thank you for letting us know it works long term✅_*
Me too!!!
I took home ec and never heard of this. I am going to try it out
Wow. Never knew this !
Great idea, took home ec over 50 yrs ago too and never heard of it either...or in any quilting class I've taken. Going to try it cuz it seems as though it would help with fatigue too...thanks! Happy sewing!
Okaaaay! Miss. Snartie Panties, you!

Oh my gosh I am blown away. I will share this with all my sewing and quilting friends! I have been sewing for over 60 years and quilting for 30+ and I have never seen so many truly new tips in one video! And of course I love your motto, enough talking already! Videos with lots of unnecessary talking drive me crazy.
Hello, your hack for turning around the pedal on the non slip material really works. Unfortunately I lost my right big toe from diabetes, and I was more concerned as to how I was going to sew. Turning the pedal around was a life saver for me.
Thank you for your excellent video
Sandra 🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
*_I'm so happy it worked for you Sandra...that's awesome!!!!✅_*

Wonderful Laura!
I'm an apparel sewer and not a quilter, but the hand weights in the giant ruler hack is GENIUS. That thing is always moving when I'm cutting!
*_Oh I totally know what you mean about the ruler slipping....a problem for many for sure...thank you so much for commenting💛_*
Sew many tips I have never heard of, very good!
The clapper hack!!!!!!!! Love it!
*_And it works perfectly✅_*

Needle nose fingers would be amazing! 💚

Hands down, THE BEST sewing hacks video I've seen on UA-cam....great job!
*_Wow, thank you Agnes💛_*
Love your sewing tips and tricks... another tip....place a magnet where you want to keep your sewing pins..(I’m left handed) so I placed it on the outer case on the left side of my machine...no more dropped pins. Cheers
*_I love your idea!✅_*
I use a magnet on the end of a telescoping stem to pick up dropped pins and needles. You can buy these at a hardware where they are used to pick up screws or bolts which drop in tight spots.
Fabulous tips! Thank you, Tracy!! HUUUUUGGGGSSS!!!🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
*_You are so welcome Ginger! Thanks for the Hugssss!💛_*
I've put little magnets on my sewing machine so that I can put stuff like needles and scissors on it. 😊
You are so awesome with everything you do. The Lord definitely gave you many gifts I just thank the Lord for you loving us enough to share.
The Lord is so good to me💛 Thank you for supporting my channel Jana🌸

I couldn't removed the screw on my machine for the free motion foot! I purchase a screw remover for 9 dollars with 40% coupon! I t was stuck and hard to move and rotate. I tried the foot pedal position is better the way you said. Again makes sense! Thanks Mary
thanks so much for this video! the right angle screwdriver is awesome I just bought it and my husband wants it!!!.
LOL🤣
Wow! Great tips… thank you…❤
Love this video....especially the project board. I have one that looks awful and I will be fixing that tomorrow!
Wiw! Love all those tips, but that right angle screwdriver is a gem of an idea. Today Nov 7, 2021 went to Amazon and they have one for under $10 to cool! I ordered one.
*_Awesome Alicia! 💛You won't be disappointed✅_*
Where have you been my whole sewing life!! This was by far the best video hack I’ve ever seen!! Thank you so much for sharing 💗💗 now I need to go back and find your name lolol

Very useful tips. Thank you
The first baby rag quilt I ever made gave me shin splints. I just turned the foot pedal around and haven't looked back!!! I stand and sew sometimes too! Thanks for these tips!
Just came across this. Thank you so much for sharing. New fan hello from ohio
*_Hi there new fan from Ohio✅Welcome to The Sewing Channel💛_*
I’m so glad I found you! Thanks for the tips!
I'm glad you found me too!💛
the right angle screw driver. i've had mine for a while (got it at harbor freight for about $3), but it's too tall for the screw on the back left of my presser foot. so i asked my husband to take the bit and grind some of the back off (the part that goes into the holder, not the edge). works like a charm. i don't have to try to hole the screw driver at an angle to get the screw out.
WOW what I great idea...mine barely just clears it...I'm gonna do what your hubby did!!! Thank you so much💛
Love your hack on free motion quilting
Great hacks! Thank you for sharing them☺️❤️
I went to Lowes with my husband and bought 2 pieces of 24-inch red oak and my husband cut one in half and the other I had him cut into 3 8-inch pieces. So, I have 5 clappers for under $15.00 so thank you for the great idea! I bought the cheapest handles I could find I think they were under $1.00 each. I have been using the shelf liner stuff for many years under my pressure foot. I am going to use the hooks for my snips too.
*_That is awesome! Way to go Sue!✅_*
When I first got serious about sewing, I went to Harbor Freight looking for a stubby screwdriver. I found the right angle screwdriver. I agree , it is the best sewing screwdriver. I have been using it for years.
Turning the petal backwards sold me, I subscribed. You're a great teacher
Awesome! Thank you!💛
Why’d it take me so long to subscribe? Love you and your channel!
Awe Ann Marie...you are very kind💛 Thank you so much for subbing🌸
From watching your novelty scrappy/sherpa quilt I took special notice of your rulers...the way you hold them. I searched far and wide for the finger holders and could not find them...spent over 2 hours. Then I opened this Hacks & Tips and close to the end I found them!!! I have them here and will be using them. And for the scissor hack...same thing. I discovered your channel this morning and I now have 2 fabulous hacks to make my life easier. Oh, and the scallop trick was fantastic. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!
We push “uphill” because it’s what we do when learning to drive a car.
It’s how our brain is conditioned to subconsciously work, the process becoming rather reflexive.
All your “tips&tricks” are EXCELLENT !
Thanks a lot.
Wow so many great ideas. Thanks.
Lots of clever hacks, thank you
Breadbag plastic squares (bumpy edges trimmed w/ nail clipper) are a fav tool w/many uses: pressing open seams, taped to sew-guide cord, collar-clip fabric layers.
love the idea for the design boards
I have just watched many of your videos and where have you been all my quilting life❤ I have early arthritis so many of your “hacks” save my joint wear and tear. Just amazing! I love how you’re always giving positive credit to others you’ve learned from!
Thank you for the kind words❣️
When I am sewing on my Singer 221, or Singer 301, I use the big toe of my right foot to push down the button on my peddle. I can not stand to sew on any of my machines with shoes on. I can't feel the peddle with a shoe on. However, the tacky mat is a great idea. I wouldn't have to use my toes to pull the peddle back.
*_Thank you for the great comments Arvetta!_*
Great tips! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching 💛
The screw driver is amazing, a total game changer
Super, love the foot pedal idea!
I have used many of these hacks. The tiny scissors hanging on my machine was a game changer. The turned around foot pedal was a genius idea. Now, I've used the handles from the Dollar Tree on my rulers because I have RA bad in my hands. But I used the glue strip that came with it and have never has an issue. I love ❤️ your videos.
I cut + glued tacky shelf to my pedal under size. No slip!
I love your tips n your videos
*_Thank you Lucille💛_*
Amazing tips! Thanks ❤
I've seen Donna Jordan use use weights to hold down ruler. Such a great idea
*_Thank you Caroline...I probably should have mentioned that it's best to get the "rubberized coated" weights and also mine do not have round edges so that way they don't roll✅ Happy sewing💛_*
@@TheSewingChannel ah. Another good tip thanks.
I found an antique iron for $10. I use it for my weight, then as decor in my sewing room. It's a win, win!
*_Wanda! That is a total WIN WIN!!!✅_*
Oh no! I was just offered one and turned it down! That could've been cute and functional. 😢
Maybe the person offering it still has it joy?
I not only have my snips hanging on the side of my sewing machine I also added another hook to hold a 5" ruler. I use both all the time ☺️
Awesome!!!! ✅
Hey, GMTA! I stuck a hook on the side of my machine, too! Good tip about using the name brand Command strips with those big hooks on your rulers, must try that.
This video has some of the most useful “hacks”. Thank you for sharing. I am now a subscriber!
Awe. Thank you so much for the kind words 💛and thanks for subbing ✅
I love your design board !!!!!!!!
*_Thank you so much...I use them everyday✅_*
Thank you for sharing. Just love your channel.👍👍
Thank you so much Trudy💛
Your little ratchet tool saved us while biking. We’d borrowed it from our quilt area. Guess we each need another.
Awesome!!!!✅
You are simply the best! I am going to use all of these tips today!

Thanks for the sewing helps!!!!
You are so welcome Roetta🌸
Wow this is Amazing ty for sharing your thoughts ❤
These sewing hacks are fantastic. Thank you
*_You're welcome Robyn!💛_*
My tools always seem to hit the floor when I'm at my machine. Seam ripper, snips, you name it. Buttons. Pin cushion. I'm looking under my feet every 10 minutes. I'm thinking the pool noodle (or maybe pipe insulation, it's s little smaller) at the front edge will help. You have inspired a new hack of your hack! Tell your mom...
Right angle screwdriver is brilliant, I struggle with those darned screws!!! This should come with each machine!!!
Right!!!! it should!!! LOL😂
Thank You! 👍🐱
I am having the best time binge watching some of your videos. They are so practical, so down to earth. Thanks
Thank u very interesting ❤
You have given me a reason to keep the straws I pick up from Starbucks for my juice but don't always use.Thank you for that!
I love all your havks
LOVE LOVE LOVE your hacks
some really good hacks and tips
*_Thank you Linda💛_*
I just bought the ratchet screw driver at Harbor Freight. Thanks for the tip. I always struggle with the screws on my machines. This is great!
Awesome! It works for me too✅
The right angle screw driver is awesome. My vintage machines need this friend! Funny how often sewing has me running to Harbor Freight.
Amazing ideas! Thank you
The design board is better that the one where we sewed the binding on
When I was a young girl I was told to do the trick on the foot pedal. Love it.
*_It's a true hidden gem for sure....💛_*
I just LOVE this video. Thank you for the tips. I'm for sure getting those stick hooks for my scissors and rulers!
*_Glad it was helpful Tina!💛_*
Love every tip. Thank you. Pamela, Tasmania Australia
*_You are so welcome!💛_*
