He was confused and flustered because before the pitch, Evan Davis had chased him around the ground floor and kept shouting out random numbers before getting hold of him and spinning him around twenty odd times and then told him "you've got this" and led him to the stairs to do his pitch.
Felt sorry for him. Obviously quite a capable man in the real world, but clearly he walked up the stairs and lost his marbles. It can happen under pressure.
Yes he might be in the real world but he didn’t even motivate himself to mention his products in detail, almost seemed like he didn’t want the investment in his combined business and intentionally gave up, small thinking
Imagine being grilled like this for 2-3 hours (the average length of these pitches) and flabbergasted from the moment you walked in. Yeah, this guy had no chance
I know they like to cite that 2-3 hour figure in their marketing a lot, but that’s actually 2-3 hours to _film_ the entire pitch, not 2-3 hours of scrutinizing questions like some kind of enhanced CIA interrogation. The amount of time it takes, if you strip back all the shot set-ups, makeup touch-ups, and b-roll etc, it’s like a 30-40 minutes tops for the actual back-and-forth discussion… and that’s for a good, constructive pitch. I’d bet this guy was actually only under pressure from the dragons for like 20 minutes (and still he blew it for every second).
Poor bloke, clearly suffering severely from nerves and they punished badly him for it. Also, if you have more than one business keep quiet abot it or they will want to take it away from you!
No, both the Plain English Society and the Plain Language Commission have said that there is no rule in Britain with regards to possessive apostrophes in place names
He was intentionally misleading. It's folks like you who get scammed by the Bank Frieds of this world. The guy literally from the jump all but refused to say how much profit his core business was making. He was hiding info on purpose. If you didn't get that you probably shouldn't be investing in anything short of a McDonald's kiddie's meal every now and again
His core business and skill set doesn’t involve presenting to multi billionaires on TV in front of the whole country and world. His nerves and ability to present under extreme pressure would have no relevance on his ability to operate his business.
Was this edited badly? Nothing the dragons were saying seemed to fit what we were shown. Apart from being nervous during his initial presentation, he seemed to know his stuff (especially since he hadn't planned to pitch the main business). There was nothing misleading about his drawings - the dragons just needed to ask the right questions. Sometimes directors take a wage and sometimes they take a dividend (or, in this case, a loan repayment).
Yes but this wasn't about dividends vs wage, this was a director's loan. In reality the business was only profitable enough to pay 4.6k in wages, the 40k is his money that he's paying himself back. Really he should have just clarified that
@@ISpoofBIG I don’t think you understand how it works, he paid himself 40k, and the business still made 60k profit, had he decided to take the cash a salary it would still be the same outcome
I think before coming you must be able to speak confidently, get clear financial statements and financial positions of your business and how well your product is doing in the market so you can be able to answer these questions.
i never understood why the pitchers don't have notes with them to refer to if they are stumbling, its a credibke business and an investable individual that's important not how good their memory is under pressure
My favourite era of dragons den with the God squad : Pizza Jones, Theo "The Fetus" Paphitis, Debrah Meat Head and Duncan. James Naan was my favourite 5th dragon, man had class oozing out of his moustache strokingly beautiful face.
It's a good thing he decided to make signs rather than becoming a news reader. Moreover, the sign lettering was poorly spaced, although no discussion of the product even took place, despite the fact that plastic place signs might be a good idea.
He can't 'change his pitch' Peter because he's NERVOUS! It's something entrepreneurs always have but ESPEICALLY in this era when the dragons were ULTRA un-supportive! Not even Hilary was nice to him!
It always amazes me when they fail to answer some of the basic questions that are always posed. This guy failed the most basic question of all: how much money does the company actually makes in a year? That is, what is the net profit before and after he payed himself. Sorry, but I don't believe he misunderstood the question, or that he was accidentally misleading. He was either so unprepared that he never learned the figures (or basic business terminology?), or he was deliberately misleading. Either way, the dragons were right, it's an uninvestable proposition.
He was clearly hiding his figures. From the jump you could see him hesitate repeatedly about revealing his profits on TV. Not sure why anyone would go to a TV show and then ask for privacy. What an idiotic move. Besides isn't all of that info available to the public via Company's House?
How on earth can he possibly own and run a business when he does not understand how much money he makes, and how the business functions? I find myself unable to believe a word he says.
Hillary. : ( What an amazing human being she was. RIP. Can we PLEASE not put black products on a black stand on a black floor with a black background that's poorly lit? Do I need to come down there and run this show?
My names Arthur Morgan and I'm looking for a £10,000 investment for 20% of my Tahiti mango harvest business. Me and my partner Dutch Van Der Linde believe it's a worthwhile investment

Funniest comment EVER on here ! 😀
You're back, awesome.
hahahahahah :D
Thanks for the laugh.🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can just see it now!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Crickey I think you might of got it.
"Will Duncan Bannatyne throw him the financial lifeline he badly needs?"
Duncan: **eye roll**
Felt sorry for him. Obviously quite a capable man in the real world, but clearly he walked up the stairs and lost his marbles. It can happen under pressure.
Yeah but he also misled them and got his numbers all wrong. You’re never going to get investment especially after such a poor pitch
@@acenmitch1048 He just became confused under pressure. It happens. It's happened to me in life.
Under pressure ok but I 100% agree with what Hilary said.

Should’ve had a Xanax bar or some propranolol
Entrepreneur: I own more than one business
Peter Jones: *it’s free real estate* 👀👀👀👀
That's not what that means
1:17 me when there’s a pause in the convo on a first date
He was never gonna get the investment let's face it - all the signs were there.
What a shattering experience-he must have wanted to sign off 1 minute into the pitch
Alun said in an interview that he went on to promote his business. He didn't have the right intentions and it showed.

The Entrepreneur has No "Signs" of giving up during his pitch 😂
Poor bloke, clearly suffering severely from nerves and they punished badly him for it.
Also, if you have more than one business keep quiet abot it or they will want to take it away from you!
That was painful to watch and they never even got around to talking about his product.
Shouldn't the sign have an apostrophe?
Yes.
No.
Yes, the apostrophe should be after the S in Dragons.
I think it is meant to be Dr. Agon's Court going by the spacing.
No, both the Plain English Society and the Plain Language Commission have said that there is no rule in Britain with regards to possessive apostrophes in place names

Duncan Disorderly?
James Naan hahahahaha ....
James Caan? The one who ripped off a woman and tried to buy a baby for a few hundred pounds?
Did you forget Hilary Cruella de Vil ?
I would probably do the same if I was a Dragon, that was not so good, I do wish himself good luck
stopping grass growing around posts is a great thing if he can do it
Hilary- “ why was not you prepared”
Should have fitted a flow signal

no wheely bin lids are heavy and cumbersome and this product does not work well also you have two heavy bags and are stood on one leg! 😊

Simply just not nice from Peter. Was just being mean really
It's like he went to the pub before and downed 6 pints
Wow! A plastic road sign. No surprise he never got a deal. What a crap product.
I just wish we had new uploads
Road signs should be metal not plastic
Yes but it's more like Infront of a property or private roadway.
Am I the only one who still doesn't know what the product even was, and what for?
It looks easy going in front of these dragons but it must be nerve wracking
Why tell us what happens in the title!?!? Don’t need to watch now!
He leaves with nothing.... not even his pride LOL
This was just painful to watch. Definitely needed to practice his pitch a lot more before embarrassing himself on international television 😂
Is this why they call them dragons?
Probably why he doesn’t make more profit. He’s chaotic
why wasn't you prepared,,,,,,, this proves you do not need to be educated to make millions
Took me awhile to clock the pun ngl 😂
He's a marshmallow on his numbers !!!
Tough world
Pretty sure this man just rolled out of bed 😴😂
He answered the question too literally and directly - he's obviously on the spectrum and they should cut him some slack for that.
