I thought it was a tempting exit strategy, but the deal needs a bit more tweaking when they need to account for the time spend on developing the product.
Your friend probably has some conditions for leasing the royalties (minimum amount of sales and so on). The patent likely still belongs to her or she might have sold the patent for a good amount of money + royalties. This is not what is happening here. The problem with the proposal here is that, for only 50k (that is essentially going back to himself), the investor might just put it in a drawer and make sure competitors won't put this into the market - basically gatekeeping. Specially taking into consideration that it's not a stablished product/brand that consumers are demanding. The couple runs the risk of the investor never really exploring the product to its full potential and then they wouldn't be making money. They essentially would be giving away the patent and praying he makes this product a priority. In that case it would be better for the couple to actually sell 100% of the company and pocket some money + take some royalties. That way they at least secure a minimum amount of profit and have a better understanding of how much the investor is actually interested (aka his willingness to actually buy the concept). It's very sketchy that he didn't want to spend any money to get this product and let the couple have 10% to justify not giving them money. The product has not taken off like you would hope there are some basic things they haven't done like put it on Amazon which would indicate they are either fatigued from running the business or just not capable. Presumably under his management he would use his connections and distribution to get it selling and give them an immediate return.
Lot of people here clearly don't have a clue what it's like running a small business that's not earning you any real money.
except he doesn't BUY their business, he's literally paying himself the money, it's exactly like :"give me 90% of your company for free and then work for me"
He’s not buying the company. He wants the company for free. That 50k that he’s giving to them is just going into the business that he will own. Not only that they will be the face of the product that they no longer own. The only thing they are getting is a 5% royalty. So the dud is literally saying, give me your company and work for me. I’ll give you a little something if you do good.
@@kevtlee08 but that IS buying the company. He gets the idea, which is apparently the only thing of value they have, and they get royalties from the sale of their idea.
I agree, and many times I've thought entrepreneurs can actually offer this in the first... obviously getting a higher percentage later on
It's a good job that the others pointing out that Touker would virtually be putting the money back into his own business.
Reads title: Wow! That is clearly clickbait.
Watches video: Actually not that far off what really happened, lol
She said that it's their turd baby.... literally 😆😆😆
that's called an accent, hilarious, i know
That’s an Irish accent for ya!
Right there is the moment you understand what kind of a person Touker is.
Touker: I don't want to steal ur "baby"
Also Touker:
Ok seriously? This is the most bizarre non clickbait segment I've seen yet on Dragon's Den
The Dingoes took your baby
I’m starting to think touker doesn’t really want to invest since he asks for so much equity every single time. And he must think if they accept them he’s gonna get a lot of money and if not then whatever
Touker can give then some office space to change their baby if they're in London!😂.
Where is Pizza Jones and the narrator?
Peter was self isolating.
At dominoes
90% is outrageous from Touker
If they agreed, it would've been a huge loss and literally agreeing £50k + 10% (£55k in total) as a valuation of their business!
£55k is also the sum a senior manager would earn at a law firm! And to value a business at that amount is disrespectful on Toukers part!
@@originalunoriginal4055 It's no different than a royalty deal. He takes over the business, and they get residual cheques from the 10%. They also have the option to become salaried employees. You comparing the deal with another job is irrelevant. Touker already has an established baby business network and distribution, so the real money comes in after not before.
@@originalunoriginal4055 Touker have a huge business network and distributions relation, the risk is high for you but if it's become successful and which the chancesis high because well it's touker, you probably get 5 times more in about a year or more than how much income you've planned in that project, plus touker took all the responsibility so it's a total huge passive income
Well, it looks crazy and evil if you didn't knew long about business or who's touker is in the first place,
It's a total fair investment especially if you already have other main business, or a stable business income
Well if i was new and that's my first patent product then i wouldn't take touker offer which is a high risk high reward
Jenny: “so babies can’t get out when being changed? I’ve changed my mind, I’m out”
Lady pitcher: "thank you for your robbery i mean offer Touker but we will be taking Sara's offer"
Its not dragons den without Mr Jones
Is this the first UK ep without Peter Jones?
No narrator either
@@ShopSongs They cut him out in this clip
I think so
Peter was self isolating.
@@callmetheb0ss 🤣🤣🤣
That lady needs to cheer up. No excitement. First lesson in sales
Exactly! Hahahaha and she always agrees.
Really? They received an offer, mostly due to her.
Look how they leave the baby on the floor all episode 🤣
It's a doll 🤦🏽♂️
Yes, but is it a real baby???? duh...
Touker: "If you give me £50,000 I'll take 90% of the company" and that would have been a good deal if the rules allowed it.
When questioned Touker's face reddens "a bit" :D
My main concern with this very creative product is that the _only_ option, so far, is lying the baby onto the floor and using your knees as leverage.
We've all used public washrooms, and that visual seems like a nightmare.
If they came up with a similar idea, with the same type of leverage for an elevated changing surface, they'd have a real winner.
That's what I was thinking!
0:56 imagine just randomly walking into this room unaware of what is happening... 😂
Trash Taste gang where u at?
Her business speak for "we'd sell it" was *smooth*
The girl was class there, seemed so investable
The product is amazing
Without Peter on the show, it becomes a savage free for all.
without peter it is strange !!!
@@hisdivinegraceimperialmaje4178 he had to quarantine, so theo replaced him temporarily
I just came here from the "curb your business" clip, I wanted to know what the hell a random baby was doing on the ground😂😂
Touker becoming more like Rick of Pawn Stars.
Touka being surprised they didn't choose him was the highlight lolll
Touker is a predator. Every offer he makes gives me this vibe that it's to screw the entrepreneur over. I wouldn't trust him if he offered me a bowl of soup. Peter, Deborah and Sara are the best dragons.
Is touker the one whose deals end up being loans instead of actual investments?
4:55 Proceeds to try to do just that lmao
Touker: I'll give £5,000 for 90%
Its rubbish but he also offered 5% royalty as well, still rubbish tho.
I’ve had 4 kids including twins. Not once did I have a problem changing nappies. Hand them their favourite toy and get stuck in.
90% of stake for 50k pounds? Greedy is not enough to describe him
Totally Agree bro 💯
Theo trying to fill Peters' seat.
HA!!
Cheers.
The mum is stunning 😊
Sara is always fair.
Honestly, I would have taken Touker's offer knowing his position and full involvement, which is almost guaranteeing its success and done another invention funded by the 10% share from Touker.
If the money is going to them directly I’d consider it, however they would effectively be giving up the entire business and patent up for £5000 plus a 5% royalty.
@@jonathankupis7313 true, i guess it depends on their financial comfort in the end.
Yes, but 5% royalty has the potential to be huge, and they do NO work for that.
@@angelagbettor3771 he most probably wouldn't have accepted that, these people invent the common sense with the power of their position.
Me too. In terms of how licensing an idea/patent works, this offer was actually a very generous one. And the potential given his domestic and international reach is far bigger than their 3 year projections of 110k profit in 3 years.
Sara's outfit is phenomenal in this episode.
She is a hot one she is....would love to have a wine and tell stories with her...if only for the accent
"I think it's a great product and I'm willing to give you all the money, but instead of owning 90% of the company I want 100% of it"
Well done Sarah 😄🤝
Thank you Trash Taste for guiding us here
A lovely Irish couple who have a product that is needed - Lesser products have
achieved market success. I wish them everything I would wish for myself.
I do love the Irish -
The fact that only 1 investment was made in this episode really says it all
Funny how people like watching a program where hardened businessmen fleece innocent hardworking businesspeople
