    Hey Sandy....I don't leave many comments but I've been watching you since I began my crafty journey (about 7 yrs ago). I just wanted you to know that after all the painting tutorials I've watched over the years, that you, my dear, are one of the best teachers I've come across. I thank you for the inspiration and education, and hope you and your puppies are staying safe.

    Sandy I really enjoyed this video. I have several sets of markers also. I own zig and the distressed. Karin brush markers I would like to try those. They are ink not water color. Altenew do a lovely watercolor with refills bottles which the comments are very good. Thank you for sharing your time with us today.❤️❤️❤️🙏

    Sandy, this was an amazing tutorial, I.never knew all those things about Zigs, Tombows and Distress pens. I started card making 3. years ago and didn’t know why they didn’t call the Zigs markers, now I know why, cause it isn’t your typical marker as we know it. Watercolor is something I only dabble in because I don’t have a lot of knowledge as of yet. However, watching more of your tutorials and taking a class or two will surely put me in a better comfort zone. Tfs

    Your video couldn't have been more timely. I'm working on my Christmas project for our church group. We're making ornaments , and I was struggling with what markers/pens/pencils to use for the coloring. I like Copics (of course) but they are too expensive to buy multiples of. So I think the Zigs fit the bill. Thanks for the excellent info on these brands!

    Hi Sandy! These are BEAUTIFUL! It's clever to look straight down on the umbrellas and beach. Stay cool up there in the blazing heat wave. Tommy Bahama had very classy colors in men's Hawai'ian shirts, dresses, too 🌺🌴💗💛

    I have a set of Distress Markers, which have been nothing but disappointing to me. The brush tips have not held up, and none of the bullet nibs work. However, I LIKE the ink! Have resorted to just using my Distress Ink Pads.

      That's why they're not made anymore. Happened to be the one Distress product I didn't jump in and buy them all at once, and I'm glad. Only Distress I've ever been disappointed by - ink was great, as you say, but the nibs were awfuland they dried out so fast

    I would love to see the same type of thing, especially tried on the different kinds of papers, using the Karin Brush markers. I love them but have had a difficult time with the different types of paper.

    All those markers are incredibly expensive where I live ($15 per marker plus postage) and are a bit outside of my price range.
    I was fortunate though to snag myself a packet of 12 Altenew watercolour brush markers, and would love to have seen a comparison of these with the 3 you showed, just so I know I haven’t bought duds 😝

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  3 роки тому

      I do have a video with those. I didn’t include them here because they’re so very different than regular water-based markers-they’re far more liquid so there’s not a lot of comparison. ua-cam.com/video/BD_K02mApJ8/v-deo.html

    So in order to use these we need special paper, correct? I use a lot of card stock to make cards so I guess I'd need to cut a piece of watercolor paper and attach it to the cardstock once done?

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  2 роки тому

      The paper I think works best with these is a nice inexpensive cellulose paper - Canson XL. bit.ly/37qwPif And yes once you get your coloring done you trim it down and add it to your card 😍

    OK I have a theory. Your Distress markers seem pretty juicy. I am disappointed that we can't buy them anymore, but I hang on to the ones I have. However, mine are almost all dried up. None of the fine points work and even the brush ends are pretty dry now. On a related note, I also have trouble with my Uniball white pen. I use it lightly,I wipe the tip to get it started but inevitably it gives up on me. So now I am thinking the key is humidity. You are from the North West, I am from the high desert of Colorado. We have almost no humidity. Maybe that is why my pens give out so quickly??? Does anyone else from hot dry areas find this to be true?

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  3 роки тому +1

      Distress markers have really weird caps - I have a few of mine that died almost instantly because I didn’t get the cap on just perfectly. also, google refilling your distress markers because there are some people who have come up with formulas using Reinkers that they put in them. I also have barely used mine so, there’s that LOL
      As for the humidity, I don’t think that’s a factor. I asked on a video years ago about use of the white pen and what different people’s climate and sea level and everything was, and none of that seemed to matter.

      I was very careful with the Distress marker caps but almost all my markers dried up. I was very disappointed in them.

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  3 роки тому

      @@paulaolson8956 It’s one reason they pulled them off the market. They were selling terribly because they were not great pens and needed TLC. It’s the only marker that I know I have to store sideways and that’s just a sign that it’s bad engineering. Which is weird for ranger. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    I’m looking for lightfast water base markers do you know of any. Love AI but unfortunately tombow is not light fast

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  3 роки тому

      I wonder if the Winsor Newton ones are lightfast? I suspect they might be. But they’ll be pricey. You would need to look for serious art manufacturers, most are just craft companies making them.

    Why did they stop making distress markers?

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  3 роки тому

      Likely because they performed poorly, dried out quickly. And they have inks you can color with and put into water brushes anyway.
