And, my tombow set came with a blender and I was rather clueless as to why, now I know, thanks again my crafty guru!
You are the mistress of art chemistry! Knowledge is power. Thanks for teaching me how to use my stuff!
This is exactly what I am thinking, for both the blender & the chalks! Thank you.
I never knew you could use pastels with a water based blender marker.
Glycerin! The magic potion explained. I always learn from your videos. And the bluebirds are beautiful.
You are so informative with full of easy art tricks and sound advice..that tons!
That birdie stamp is adorable. Me wants!
I'm so glad you mentioned that you don't have to have ANOTHER kind of special paper to do this!!!
Thank you Lindsey for teaching me how to use my water based markers and watercolor pencils! I was pretty disappointed in them especially the watercolor pencils. Now I armed with knowledge and will give it another go.
I think that you’re extremely talented and I appreciate your teaching skills and how frugal you are.
God bless. ♥️
Glad it was helpful!
Super job Lindsey! Thanks for all of your wonderful tutorials over the years. You’ve taught me a lot! I always appreciate your cheerful attitude and positive thoughts even when you make a mistake.....not on this video. It helps us to realize that mistakes are good....ok.....in fact wonderful because we learn something from them! You are the bomb!❤️
Thanks for this tutorial--I bought some Tombows awhile back after hearing your story of buying some used at the stamp store going-out-of-business sale. Now I know how to get good blends--yay!
Jim's wife Melissa here
I love that bluebird stamp.
I love this tutorial. I bought a blender marker to use with my watercolor pencils but I had no idea I could use it with markers! You are such an informative teacher. I love how you cover all of the possibilities too, like different papers . Thank you!!!
You also gave me a major flashback. I had a plastic bluebird that hung on my crib as a baby that was a music box. The colors you used were spot on match to it! Thanks for the happy memory!
I love the first and last ones. Vivid colors worked. Not so much the pastels. Good ideas to try. Thanks.
Nice and fun too! Makes me miss all the coloring I used to do. So many supplies...so little time.
Thanks Lindsay, the Elegant Writer was never used and not opened until recently, BUT I have had it awhile. I'll try your suggestions. Thanks again for everything. Take care. Becky B
Loved all the techniques beautiful... The pastels mix well with fabric medium thus making it water proof... worth a try.
Great info on how to use the glycerin tool. I love the blue birds. Thanks for sharing.
I didn't know the water based blender could do so much! I used my old Dove blender so much I had to get more tips for it. I found some at a stamp show and bought them out! I used it mostly for applying chalk to an image. After years of use the glycerine finally soaked into the chalk and turned it too hard to use. I probably had the blender tip too wet because the Dove blender had a refill bottle that was used to put 5 drops of refill solution into the blender. When the refill ran out I used glycerine and water to refill it. I like the idea of pre-moistening the image before coloring with the marker. I should think that would make the markets last longer too.
Still got one of these lying around, but since those Aquamarkers never felt like "my" medium, it's still lying around, unused :) Maybe I should finally dig it out again and put it to work somehow ^^
On another note: Those birdies are darn cute 🥰
I love that bird stamp❤️
Its stampendous..u get 3 big birds..babies...and a tree branch w flowers and leaves. Its awesome!!
@@karenopet1223 Thank you. I need to try to find that. Birds are my favorite
I didn't know that watercolor blenders even existed Thanks for teaching me about watercolor blenders and how to use them I would give you many thumbs but I will stick with what UA-cam allows
I finally know what a colorless blending marker is and how to use it....Thank you for your channel if I want to know something I know I can always come to your channel to find out....this was really helpful for me...
Thank you for sharing all of these tips with us. I had no idea I could do so much with my blender pens. Yay!!
I love using these for inktense. Especially in adult coloring books. I find on paper like Kerby Rosanes books (which is what coloring book I personally use inktense the most in) it will not bleed through and does not warp at all! And if I want to draw something in or fix a line that wasnt printed well i use a sakura micron pen. It has waterproof ink and will not smear. And it the same pen Kerby uses to draw the line drawings with, so it matches and looks like part of the original!
Ah, thank you! This is so helpful! Also, I can’t believe how big of a difference the type of paper makes.
Thanks for the glycerine tip and the watercolor pencil tip, very useful. 😀
TY for taking the time to create this video. I learned so much. 👍🏻♥️
Thank you for this video, very timely. I just invested in some Tombows and the blending kit. Lindsay to the rescue again! 💛
Always learning something new from you, plus I love watching you creating. Thank you so much.
Thanks Lindsay, I'm looking forward to getting my blender out and trying again with it, especially with the coloured pencils
So many great tips- especially the use of Bristol smooth!
This was very informative. I have both Tombow and Stampin Up blending markers and rarely use them. Now I am going to get them out and experiment. ❤️❤️
I watched this, then tried ma mixture of glycerin + ox gall + water in a water brush. On drawing paper it is a fail. On watercolor paper it works wonders. You simply have to wait for the glycerin to evaporate.
Thanks for the video and I am ordering from Blick the Tombow shown in your video. Your art kung-fu is the best.
Thank you for such a great video! I have lots of Tombow markers! I now have lots of new ways to use them! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Awesome video Lindsay.🤗🌹❤️
Thank you for the quotes Lynn! -El

Lynn, Porter is from my area in Indiana. Lots of interesting things to see relating to him. Even a Cole Porter museum.
@@jimflack9462 that is awesome🤗❤️
This couldn’t have come at better time. I just started trying out my new agua pens and there were little shreds of something on my paper. I thought it was my new pen brushes but you just taught me it’s the paper. Thank you
Thank you for showing us those techniques. It's great. 😊
Absolutely loved this tutorial!!! You explained yourself so well and can't wait to see what you make with those sweet bluebirds 💙
Thanks. I needed this. I have lots of these and really didn’t know how to use them
Make some cards with thos lovely bluebirds!
I wouldn't mind having some of those beautiful bluebirds, but I'm sure you have already figured out what to do. Watching how you do your coloring is helpful to me also. Another reason I put in like folder. Enjoyed this very much. Take care. Becky B
Email me your mailing address and I'll send you some:) artstudiosofbangor@yahoo.com
Just heard about the transparent oil bar that is used for blending, and now a watercolour blending tool. So many new things I need to find 😍
For the colored pencils, can you fill (dip in to, like you did with glycerin) with gamsol? Will that work?
Wow, Lindsay....this was such an informative video for me! I do have some chalks in my stash, but had no idea how to use them and now, of course, I want to give it a try. Thanks, so much, and this one is getting bookmarked!
This was such a good tutorial. Thanks for showing all the different ways to use you blender markers with different markers. Love the colors in the bluebirds.
I bought several of the Jane Davenport pastel sets< during one of Spellbinders’ biannual clearance sales and since then (have wondered what I could actually do with them. This has been very helpful; thank you!
Great ways to use the blender pens. I can’t wait to try them.😊
Thank you. I especially want to try the second method. I often do something similar with a water pen. It will be fun to see the difference.
I love all the birds but the first one is my favorite.
Tyty! I have these blending pens from years ago but couldn't remember how I used them. Gonna try this soon.
Tfs.
What a great ay to spend my birthday. I learned some really great tips tonight. Thank You Lindsay!
Happy birthday! 🎂
You are a fountain of knowledge! You know your stuff, you teach with humbleness and you share your excitement of what can be done. I am so thankful to have found you, over a decade now. I miss the caffiene Lindsey. But, to be honest.... I have to be very careful with my caffiene now, so I shouldn't be sad. I am not an artist. A stamp demonstrator for D.O.T.S taught me about the power of the blender brush. It was so much easier than the paper stump and mineral oil. I wasn't afraid when my munchkins were up and around. It was and still is the gold standard for Making a non artist look good. ☺🤗
Amazing, I learnt about things I'd never try myself otherwise, that we actually sell in the store a am an intern in, so I learnt very useful info, thanks !
I am definitely getting myself watercolor markers, a blender and good watercolor paper eheh !
Thank you so much for the inspo and the very useful advices
Glad it was helpful!
Just wanted to say hi & iv been learning a lot thank! Have a great day ✌🏻🇨🇦
Awesome tutorial Lindsay... Thank you for sharing xx
Thank you for the ideas I never knew this was so versatile! Blows my mind! Love all you do! Thank you for your amazing videos!
Thank You... Love the embossing technique and chalk...who knew!!!!
Going to try in some of my better quality adult coloring books😊
Great idea!
I have always wondered how to use blender markers. Markers aren't really my medium but I've seen other people's work that looked just fabulous with alcohol or water markers and anytime I tried to do it I never got a good result. Thank you for being the guru you are! I'm excited to get a blender marker and some Bristol paper to try this out!
I had no idea these existed. This looks a lot more controllable for my watercolour markers.
I recommend the tombow, ecoline or Stampin Up brands if you are goung to buy one. I've yried others that frayed.
I use these in coloring books with colored pencils (and, yep, the ones with poor quality paper are trouble) but I never tried the chalk or with the marker pens, that is so awesome! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks for the great tips as always 😁
Lindsey, thank you, this was sooo informative, I learned a lot! I enjoyed this tutorial ❤️🖌️🎨
Great info, Lindsay, thanks! Now that you have all those bluebirds you’ll have to make a batch of happy Spring cards, lol!
Good idea! They allcut out well with my scan n cut!
Great tips and techniques Lindsay - thanks! ~ C ~ GBuk
Thanks so much for sharing!!! This video was very helpful!!! These are they type of video's I enjoy the most!!!
Thanks so much!
I liked the last technique best!
What? I’m familiar with the first two, but then you went all sorts a crazy! Love this, I never thought to use watercolor pencils and chalks. So, excited to try some new things with my Tombows!
Wow! Thank you for your talented tutorial.
I had thought either my markers were no good (even though everyone else did cool things with Tombows) or I was just doing it wrong somehow until I recently learned about using Bristol - doh! As soon as I got some I was able to get the results I had been expecting. It makes a HUGE difference. Thanks for the options with watercolor pencils and using the blender to pick up color from the palette - I’ll definitely try both of those.
I would have never thought to use the pastels like that, so cool! Thanks Lindsay!
Poor nib
I have to say I think we have a psychic link! Lol Lately, your vids have been so timely for me! I am in the middle of moving house & I had to pick out a few "desert island" supplies as space is limited. I have a lovely big portable case of water based markers & brush pens that don't get used as often as they should. Using these wonderful techniques, I will have more flexibility with the limited supplies I will have to hand. Thank you, Lindsay! You're fabulous! Xo
Thanks, good luck with your move!
Hi, Lindsay ~ thanks for this great video. I learned a lot as I worked along with you. I also tried the blender with Inktense pencils, Faber Castell Albrecht Durer, PanPastels, Stabilo Carbothello chalk pastels, Stabilo 3-in-1 Woodies, and Caran D'ache Neocolor II's. It was fun experimenting. ♥️
Thank you for great ideas.
I HAVE ANOTHER FOR YOU that I got from another UA-camr. You can use a water based colorless blender with Viviva ot Peerless color sheets. You could use that combination in places where you couldn't use a waterbrush away from your house. For example, waiting for a doctor's appointment.
Koi calls their colorless blender "Coloring Brush Pen". They came two to a pack and are only 5.5" (135mm) long. They would fit in a small zip lock bag with a Viviva set. The combination would easily fit in a pocketbook.
Clever!
I have markers but haven’t done much with them and in fact do have Bristol paper as well....next project! My ah-ha was that I didn’t know that you could use the blenders with watercolour pencils. Something new every day! TFS
Fabulous, learned so much. Thank you.
Very interesting and nice blending pens. I have never used them. Thanks for another great "how to" video!
Great tutorial Lindsay
Thank you for sharing this. I have learned a lot. ❤️
Thanks for the tips & tricks...I'll be using my blender marker more often now, and correctly.
Fantastic video with amazing techniques and results, Lindsay. Tfs.
Thank you for this tutorial! I really took a lot from this video. Your the best Lindsay! Thank you for sharing
Thank you, Lindsay! I really appreciated this video. I have a colorless blending brush and I’ve never used it because I had no ida how to! How you have a wonderful weekend!
These would make great cards
Thank you so much this is a great video and I learned so much.
I love this Lindsay
Great ideas. Thank you so much!
I quite like the Derwent Blending-Burnishing pencils that come in packs together, you get 2 of each of the types. The Blender is just “an empty pencil” made without pigment so it will blend pigmented pencil easily - it’s very soft thus oil-heavy. The Burnisher is its wax-heavy, harder sibling which is good for resists but also for outlining if you want to make sure you stay inside the lines. I have used it when doing like a complicated colouring stamped image that I want to keep a clean white border on and then die cut. I “colour in” outside the border with the Burnisher like we used to do around maps at school in blue - like just a 1/4 cm (a bit under 1/8”), very carefully on the “stamp edge” and rough on the other edge as it doesn’t matter and then I know my markers or inks I’m blending etc etc will be resisted by that area. You can also use it like Mrs McGuire et al. frequently use clear embossing powder for - those resists where you stamp in black, emboss in clear powder, ink it/etc then iron off the embossing to leave a crisp image: just stamp it and use the Burnisher over the line and no ink/etc can stick there.
Hi there! How exactly do you get that dried white (or clear) embossing powder off? Do you actually melt it away with a small craft iron?
Cool! Thanks Lindsay 😊
Cute fattie little bird stamp! Love it. Nice choice to practice on lol.
You are full of great ideas! Thanks for sharing them! 😊
Thanks Lindsay! I have the Versamark pen and will give that one a try. I have chalks that aren't being used; I think I'll dig them out and give them a try!
Thank you
I have a project I will try that on just need to get glycerin
Thank you so much I will try this 😌
Really nice, so glad you showed how to use this blender. I have one and didn't know really what to do with it. You could make a bluebird mobile, wouldn't that be pretty!
Great tutorial ❤️
Thanks for the help.
I jusr loved this “how to use your products” tombows, [zigs, jane Davenport brush pens, ( I’m guessing )] and pastel, chalks, eyeshadows, and watercolor pencils. I bought a number of (kits) & products at Christmas Sales, that I thought my granddaughters would enjoy experimenting with, but for whatever reason they are fixated on black & white (grey shades). Its like they are afraid of color? Not sure what that is about. One Item I purchased was the Jane D pallette. Glad to know I can use them. Where do you buy the pon-pon applicators ? What are they called ? I hope you will do a part 2, with your remaining birds on other products you may think of. Like colored ink pad ink, or spray bottle inks, ?? Im sure there are more products you can blend with glycerin blending pens. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed so much.
Thank you! Now I know how to use my water blender!
The ecoline pen can be in twisted an refilled 😉
cool! I have a few of those!
@@thefrugalcrafter the coloured pens are great too because of you use up a colour oy can buy their liquid watercolour and refill them!
Loved this thanks
Love this demo! Regarding Tombows, look for a good deal at Michaels. I got some around Christmas for $11-12/pack, plus I think got 20% off in their "rewards". I bought the primaries, the secondaries and the Galaxy and only had blenders as duplicates. It's a great palette of colors. On the non-Bristol card stock, I took advantage of the way that the paper absorbs the moisture and bloats to create textures a few times. It can be kind of cute to do with stencils.
Make some stickers and magnets with the bluebirds. 😉
Where can we get the paper you are using? Thank you i learned a lot!! :)
Wow I didn't know all this. Would my emdoss it marker do the same thing? Thanks for sharing all this info.
