  • CA v. MENENDEZ (1993): #LyleMenendez takes the stand. | Brothers Lyle and #ErikMenendez were on trial for the August 1989 shotgun murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in the family's Beverly Hills mansion. The brothers were arrested in March 1990 after Erik confessed during a session with his psychologist. During the highly publicized trial, the prosecution claimed the motive was greed as the brothers stood to inherit $14 million. The defense claimed that it was an act of self-defense in a desperate attempt to escape years of childhood family violence and sexual abuse.

it's crazy to think that some people can conclude that Lyle is a cold- blooded sociopath. really? the guy that plays with his teddy bears until 16 and buys his girlfriend plushies? the same guy that signs off letters listing the names of all his plushies? ah yes, big scary.
this young man (at the time of the trial) was so stressed as a child that he stated LOSING HIS HAIR as a 14 year old. he wet the bed until he was 16-ish.

I believe that they were put through some serious trauma by their parents.
I do think they needed to get some prison time because as adults they could have walked away. However, they were horribly abused, and I do think they might have thought their parents might kill them. Even if they were just doing it for justice/revenge, they probably saved many other victims from Jose. Kitty was also abusive, but might not have abused children outside of the family.
Even adults can become victims of abuse of highly controlling people who threaten you to not leave and use coercion, now imagine growing up with that kind of control, never being able to make your own decisions and always hearing "I'll kill you if you disobey or tell anyone", and your parent having all the power and influence in the community or means to track you down. Some people do get killed when trying to leave abusers. It's not always that easy. Women can at least still turn to a shelter but young men would just get laughed at.
The brothers have served three and a half decades for murdering two monsters. And they behaved in prison and did what they had to do for 30 plus years. It's time.

So do you think that the cops would have believed them? They wouldn't have especially with the status that their father had. No one would have believe them. When you have status you get away with everything and anything ❗

After 51 witnesses describing his dad as a psychopath who abused them in a terrible way and photos of genitals and a letter now before the killings and a raped kid from menudos, people still think the rapes where a lie?? Some common sense please, if this is so hard to believe that’s why these kids had nobody to go to support them! These brothers were in great danger with this manipulative sadistic monster. If he didn’t hesitate to rape them, molest them and control their entire lives to satisfy his needs, he would hesitate to murder them ? Please do your research and use some common sense. Please don’t base your research on the fictional series monsters! If they were fine after the killings they wouldn’t seek therapy !!!! They wouldn’t go shopping like their mother did to escape her demons.
