Hi, Thx for adding the microtuning ! that's a feature i was expecting :) it says in the 2.5 user guide manual that it's possible tu play scala dump tuning. what kind of scala export ? is it possible to elaborate on the procedure? Is it a regular .mid "set synth 107" midi dump that have then to be played via a midi sysex? how to choose the tuning solt btw the 8 available slot? Thx, Olivier
It's great to hear that you're enjoying v2.5, Olivier! Novation's own Danny Nugent aka Lucky Catz, has actually created a scala importer for Bass Station II. You can find all of the information here: github.com/LuckyCatz/BSII_Scala_Importer
One thing that would be perfect for novation to add, is the ability to create your own tuning table directly on synth, through the AFX mode. In AFX mode each key is a different patch, so you could just have the same patch on every key and start detuning them and finding interesting scales. This is already possible in AFX mode... what is not currently possible is the ability to save this as a tuning table that could be applied to any patch.
You can import custom tuning tables using Components - components.novationmusic.com/bass-station-ii/tuning-table-editor When working with AFX mode, each note is able to trigger an 'Overlay' which is essentially a per-note variation on the underlying Patch. Due to differences in architecture, Patches can't be loaded as tuning tables but that's an interesting concept.
I think it would be cool if you could set a custom tuning by entering a "tuning mode" and then pressing each key along with turning the mod wheel to the desired pitch
@@NovationTV Thank you so much for the quick response. I’m getting the Synth next month, I will let you know then. But if I can tweak any note in the scale separately then it’s possible.
Custom tuning tables can be uploaded to Peak, Summit, and Bass Station II via our components application. More info on how to do this can be found in the article below: support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4411786558098-Bass-Station-II-Components-guide
Yes, absolutely! The editor within Components allows you to set a base frequency for a custom tuning table or you can simply upload a tuning table file (scala) to Bass Station II - components.novationmusic.com/bass-station-ii/tuning-table-editor The Wendy Carlos just intonation file is available here so you can simply upload this - www.transfernow.net/dl/20230330XL6JqTPs
Hi novation, silly question maybe, ive uploaded scales to my 8 slots..but can't remember the name of the scales I uploaded. Is there any way of identifying file names of these scales
Sorry to hear that you're having problems with that. Have you uploaded some Tuning Tables to your Bass Station II using the Tuning Table feature within Components? The firmware update itself doesn't feature any tuning tables but using Components, you will find a link to a site where you can downloads hundreds and add some to your synthesiser.
Okay now I want one!
Those microtonal sequences running through reverb were beautiful
Pretty impressed! Novation i love you ❤️
You guys should do a video on how to use the new manager with the bass station as it was really good compared to the old one for swapping patches.
Is it possible to load custom tunings?
i wanna know this too!
Yes it is possible to load custom tunings (and even save some on the synth) :-)
Yes its adjustable on components! :)
@@myjima how?
Excellent thanks for the update 👌

Does microtuning effect the MIDI output?
No. The MIDI output is unaffected. The re-tuning is performed on the synthesiser itself.
@@NovationTV Thanks for the response :).
Where can I download the update has it been released yet? I don't see it on the Bass Station 2 downloads page.
Hasta go through Components. Link in the description.
The micro tuning function is not working on my BS2. Should I reload the update?
Sorry to hear that you're having problems. Our tech support team can help you find the cause of this, please get in touch: bit.ly/NovationSupport
0:52 I guess tuning table zero is actually equally tempered not well tempered.
Can I use the micro tuning function to play Arabic Maqam music?
We haven't tried this ourselves, but this should conceivably be possible with the microtuning function. Let us know if you try it!

Micro Tuning for the Peak, please!
Just been announced in the Peak 1.2 update. Available 19th Dec 2018

What are the tunings? 24 tet or something?

Afraid not. Bass Station II is unable to display the names of tuning tables that you have uploaded, only the slot number that they have been added to.
@@NovationTV Thought as much..:) your machine is fascinating ..
