Hi Rob, Top Tip... line the holes up on your sander when placing a new disc, put a couple of pencils or wooden dowels in the sander holes then they line up on the disc. James
Hammer was a bargain...definately gonna use a piece of cut down pipe to store my tape now....always emptying the whole bloody toolbox to get to a roll of tape..great idea.
I've used those insulation tubes to make door draft excluders, cut them to the door width, then slide cardboard into the slits and secure with tape before sliding under the door, works a treat stopping drafts.
That multi tool you bought and you showed the curved side for cleaning paint from Rollers well I think that’s what you described as the saw edge, that’s for combing through brushes to remove excess paint before cleaning Keep up the great videos , Brian.
Beauty of those storage draws is you can pop the tops off and stack as high as you want to I brought 2 stacks of 4 and have made a stack of 6 in one part of my workshop and a stack of 2 under a bench and I'm planning to buy 2 more sets once I've had yet another workshop shift around (one day I'll be happy with the final setup lol)
Love watching tinkerers working through an idea :) I have a set of Aldi pegboards with 3D printed hooks so all my tapes are hung up side on. I spent ages tweaking the hook design, moving them about, getting it just right. The youngest lad took one look and said "You have too much tape" :)
@@WeekendShedHead Exactly, no such thing as too much tape, especially when they need something fixed :) I use 3D printing a lot in projects, sometimes too much, you can end up wasting a lot of time creating printed solutions that are over the top. I put about an hour into designing a spacer plate to offset a gate late as a temporary fix, half way through it printing I twigged I could just use a handful of washers to space it off the couple of mm needed, that took like 3 minutes, and 2 of those was trying to remember where I'd put the box of washers :)
I'm in the process of building a shed for myself for woodworking so I enjoy all your tips especially the creative budget friendly ones. I've come across a dremmel type tool that parkside do that I like, and as you can battery share across the parkside tools and because I'm going to slowly try and buy more cordless tools I'm thinking of trying parkside, I've already got some lidl bits and they're good with returns on items, so I may commit to building a small parkside cordless tool collection, plus lidl always have special offers, and I just like the colour of them tbh.
Love the video….ive got a claw hammer but the same as that one as my daily user…..and tape, I went to the charity shops, bought, the mug trees or kitchen roll holder things, the stand up ones, and used those….fixed em into the beams
As usual, Rob, another great video. You are 100% correct about ScoutCrafter. John is definitely THE MAN. He also got me interested in tool restos. And I agree with him that Parkside should sponsor you! Until next time, CHEERS! Jim
Another nice thing about the 4 high draws is they are modular and you can make them 3 high/5 high etc. I have mine 5 high, 4 stacks wide with wooden board on top for work top (non machining as not super secure) and artist material storage unit in the studio.
Really good video, and excellent showing your tinkering mindset. My mother used to say that I dither, my wife says that I am ruminating when working something out. I will definitely keep an eye out for that tweezer set and I would have skipped over the bit set if you did not show the mag/demag. I got a couple of Aldi QR clamps (not too smooth mechanism, so may try to use graphite powder to make it smoother), and they had some bolts and hinges. Probably not useful for security but could be good for something that drops down. And on the old safety front, setting up sharpening station (using Rob Cosman method), and managed to polish off some of my pinky nail. Which leads to next job of making one of those shooting board/supports for planing wood.
Thanks Rob, that was fun and full on, I think you might have had too much coffee ! 😉 The pipe was definitely the way to go for the tape, I guess you could also use round guttering which has end-cap and brackets too ! The hammer came out great, absolute bargain and a good user now !
I like the pipe as the tape holder, I may have to do something similar. The hammer came out nice. Don't wear glasses with a chain around your neck around machines..... Unless you want to be dragged face first into a grinder of course. You do you... ;)
So Rob, here's the Science Bit - to Magnetise a tool, face it in line, Geographically North to South for the strongest magnetisation. Then (daft as ir sounds) to Demagnetise, face with the tool East to West and draw the tool slowly and keep going until you are up to an Arms Length (1 Metre) away. I used to be a Non destructive testing Inspector. (Retired)
Hammer came out good. Great idea with the tape holder. I have mine on two dowels and its always the role at the other end that I want to use. As you pointed out take them all off to get it. I think if i just cut one quarter out instead of half then get the heat gun out and flatten a quarter for mounting screws. Still leaves half to sit the tape in. Thanks Steve aus.
Hi Rob, looks like you got plenty going on there, it's all good stuff and all good fun and it's all in the shed.....nice. I've got my tapes on a piece of drain pipe screwed to the top of a cupboard just above my screwdrivers. You have done a great job on polishing the metal on your hammer looks good if it was mine I wouldn't paint it the polished finish looks better, just a thought. More Parkside bargains cant go wrong with there prices where else can you go for a SDS drill and a loaf of bread. Last Thursday's Shed Space was good cant wait for this weeks, till then Take care mate............cheers
Really good video Rob. Great deal on that Stanley hammer and nice cleanup. Cave is really coming along nicely. Storage ideas are great also. Experimenting to find out what works is half the fun. Cheers!!👍🏻😎
The hammer turned out great ,re storage I've out grown my shed and could do with another so today I planted the seed in the Mrs head I left my web browser open on a shed company page lol It's worth a try
Hi Rob, love your shed, as I said before get a length of round 4? Inch guttering ,fix the edge to the lip of your shelf and all your tapes stack in line for when you want them Cheers Clive
I have a suggestion for tape storage. I use two kitchen paper roll holders, I have different sizes of tape with a snap off utility blade stored in the middle of the rolls. Try to find holders that are screwed in as I couldn't get the stick on type to adhere to the surface of the underside of some shelfs. Not my idea, saw April Wilkinson use them. 🛠️👍
I didn't see one in the tweezer set but a cross tweezer is also good as they are push to open instead of the normal push to close. So the cross one can hold an item while not in the hand eg on a bench so you have both hands free to say offer up second piece in 1st hand and add glue with 2nd hand or for soldering small items. So like a tiny vice/clamp.
Great Sunday viewing. I notice you got Von Haus tools. I think they are brilliant. Bet you the told misses that you was only to get the weekend paper and milk. lol
Be aware mate the drawer units you got from B&M become very brittle over time and tend to crack very easily . I know this because I got some and that's what happened to mine . Loving the channel and all the great recommendations.. Cheers
I was just about to mention the same about the hole. When I saw it, I wondered if Parkside would have included something in the box as a hidden little gem (like the mag/demag).
I’ve had several of those plastic drawer sets from b & m, they do suffer from cracking if left in a cold environment ie shed or garage….cheap..yes ..long lasting ..defo not.
I acquired the drawer set of my wife she used it for girly stuff but it didn't match so I used it for various things an as others have said unfortunately it did not stand the test of time an split n collapsed 😅
Hammer looks great but it’s your opinion but them Dewalt bits are like most of the Dewalt range and so far I’ve found them to be rubbish I much prefer the Makita screwdriver bits. We all know that Dewalt is the failed side of Black and decker Which is part of Stanley.

Lovely!! Ah, the joy of spending time on devising new storage methods for things we'll never use again :)
Very true 😂 but some we might 😉 cheers Rob
Nice collection 🎉I'm plumber and use parkside tools. Value for money
Looking forward to the video about making storage for different sizes of pipe insulation

Easy solution, length of gutter, two stop ends plus support brackets, job done!

This is proper content for a lazy Sunday evening, eating a few crumpets
this has to be one of the best ideas I've seen in ages and I suddenly feel the need to purchase some crumpets
👍 cheers mate

"D" shaped guttering with end caps works well for shelving on thinggs like tape, screws etc. and the vrackets make for easy fitment
Great ideas 😉👍
You should re new the stanley hammer handle with a nice wooden one 👍🏻
Good idea! Cheers Rob

Plenty of variety in this video. Great watch.

The hole in the handle of the screwdriver is to apply extra torque with a bar if the screws are super tight...💚🇬🇧🌱
Good call 😃😉 cheers Rob

Welcome aboard! 😃 and big thanks , cheers Rob
Please show some more cheap tool shops.

Big thanks 👍 yeah it’s going to get light work.. deep storage for the heavy stuff , cheers Rob
The hole in the handle of the parkside screwdriver may be to place a metal rod through to give extra torque. Maybe 🤔.
I was just about to mention the same about the hole. When I saw it, I wondered if Parkside would have included something in the box as a hidden little gem (like the mag/demag).
Good point 👌👍 cheers
I think for a tape holder ,I would just use a plastic gutter and a couple of gutter brackets
could even stick a small piece of each tape on that rack so can see what is missing
Great idea Steve 😃👍
Brill rkid good watch that
Cheers
I have serious workshop envy😢
Thanks , Build one mate ! Once you start though.. it keeps growing 😉😂 cheers Rob

😉👍 cheers good idea
Where are you going to mount the hammer when it’s finished?👍
I’ll find a home somewhere on the tool wall.. but needs a sort 😉👍 cheers Rob
Nice shine on the hammer.. but what’s this about ANOTHER extension on the man-cave? 🤣👍
Coming soon loz 😂😂 cheers Rob
Feel ya pain mate more sheds =more stuff 😂😂

Beware those jubilee clips! I had some fail on a job recently & had to buy some decent ones...
Yeah they probably not the best .. but I’ll be using as light work., let’s see how they go , cheers
Those drawers are dead fragile.
