      I do get waaaay better color on my ps5 and oled than i was prior on anything! Im assuming that's from more bandwidth in hdmi 2.1 and im getting 32GBPS and HDR YUV422 while i used to only get YUV420 on 2.0 and PS4 Pro. Make sense?

    Thanks for giving us the 4 rules! Wonderful guidance and insights. You make your points clearly and concisely. We went with the Samsung Q90T 4K QLED instead of the LG CX 4K OLED because of the glare issue. We really noticed the glare reflecting of off the LG at Best Buy. We have sunlight coming through our front door and then through the glass in our folding doors leading into the TV room. We watch TV quite a lot during daylight hours. Until we considered the glare issue, we were definitely going with a 55" - LG CX 4K OLED. However, for our particular environment, we thought that the Samsung was the best choice for us.

      Same. I just assembled and calibrated my Vizio H1 this morning then set up a relative's Q90T QLED this evening. The 2.1 features on the Vizio are still a work in progress, but the standard home theater and 4k/ HDR functionality are spectacular, probably a bit underrated actually. It was a steal at $899.

    • @AKSBSU
      @AKSBSU 3 роки тому +1

      @@kriscantrell2393 The Q90T has vibrant highlights and very solid detail. I prefer the look of OLEDs overall, but the Samsung flagship is a beautiful TV. Not having Dolby Vision and costing as much or more than OLEDs are my main issues with QLEDs. No worries with burn-in and exceptional brightness are great advantages, though.

It just so happened we decided to give an older 50inch Samsung Plasma TV in our bedroom to my Sister in law and replace it with our current 65inch Haier TV. The new Sony will go in our Family Room, this coming weekend by Geek Squad.

    Ultimately you just have to do some research and see what 📺 is the best for how you are going to use the TV. I also think you should watch several reviews because more than likely you will see certain 📺 sets keep rising to the top as the best of the best. This year 📺 sets that I've noticed mentioned over and over as great 📺 are the Samsung Q80T, Q90T, Vizio OLED, PQX, Sony X900H, A8H , LG CX, HISENSE H9G if you don't mind the red Ghosting, and the TCL 2020 mini LED 6 series. These are the 📺 sets that keep coming to the forefront among top all reviewers. If you really want a TV you will be good with those sets depending on your budget. If not wait for next year.

    I have a XBSX so I'm looking for a 65"+ with VRR/HDR/4K@120 therefore I'll need HDMI 2.1. I'm waiting for 2021 to see what's available. Probably get an LCD since I want to avoid burn-in and from either TCL or Vizio since these features aren't going to be cheap and I'm thinking to budget < $1500.

    I'm jumping in with a 65 inch X900H after a lot of consideration of various TVs. Got the Black Friday pricing of $1400 CAD. The one we purchased was the Samsung QN85Q70, it had the center stand. We didn't go OLED because our tv was in a very bright room plus Oled largest size is 77".

    As mostly a gamer in a fairly bright room, and of all the TVs I've looked at in reviews, it's looking like if I buy before the 2021 models come out, then the Samsung Q80T 55" and above looks the best for me. Mostly for the LFC ability. It's the only TV I've personally found in reviews that mentions it has the LFC ability. The 49" and 50" don't have it, so it needs to be 55" and above. Though I think a 50" is the best fit for my area. I'll have to measure to see if I can fit the 55".

    • @timo4258
      @timo4258 3 роки тому

      Q80T 50" has fewer things on it than the bigger ones, so it might not have all the things you want. Check out rtings page for Q80T for details. Anyway LG CX seems to be the ultimate tv for gamers this year, although at a higher price.. I got Q80T myself, should arrive in 2-3 days. Don't expect LFC, VRR or HDR to work on it for gaming though, at least not at the same time.

    5th rule : Don't expect your DVD's & VHS content to look as good as they did on a 'HD ready' (720p) or 'full HD' (1080p) monitor . Upscaling can only get you so far , and the cheaper the 4k tv , the likelihood of a lack of effort in this direction by the manufacturers gets greater .
    But in general, it's not just the price point . It's the math behind upscaling that get's you a hit & miss look at the best of times .
    It sucks that "upscaling" has only recently became a noteworthy thing , and only because ppl have started to notice that content that they previously enjoyed on their "HD-ready / Full-HD" tv sets now looks WORSE on their brand new 4k tv ... -- and sadly if the issue gets addressed by tv reviewers, it's only about how 1080p content isn't as great on a 4K .
    Few if any tv reviewers treat content below 1080p as anything worth talking about, even as the majority of the TV channels on the planet have yet to switch to 1080p , let alone 4k .

    • @nathan518
      @nathan518 3 роки тому +1

      This is true. However, I would like to mention that if you have a computer with a powerful enough GPU, madVR's upscaling works really well. It can make 720p look great on a 4K display.
      If you have a smaller screen size though (like a 48 inch TV), then 1080p should still look alright. It just gets the larger your screen is.

    • @fernandos.8158

    I need a new tv with 2.1 HDMI, HDR movies, streaming from Netflix, Amazon Prime, UA-cam, and Hulu movies. Also eARC connection for a nice sound bar with satellite subwoofer included. I want to buy both the PS5, and the Xbox Series X consoles to game on.....I own the PS4 Pro right now. I own a Samsung 8000 series UHD LED TV from 2016.

      You don't need HDMI 2.1 for PS5 and Xbox X. Neither PS5 nor XBox 5 will need (or even utilize) HDMI 2.1 for gaming. And speaking about future proofing, HDMI 2.1 for gaming won't be needed for at least another five years.

    Hi Fomo! I just picked up a Sony A90J tv for use in my home theater, and I have a Sony UBP-X800M2 4K Blu-Ray player connected. This tv will be dedicated to watching 4k HDR Blu-rays exclusively. Can/should I have the BDP hooked up to one of the HDMI 2.1 ports or not?
    For what it’s worth, I will not be using the A90J for gaming, as I have another tv dedicated for that.

    The HDMI 2.1 arguement is a bit like someone wanting a powerful car...he has the choice of a car with a top speed of 120 mph or a car with a top speed of 160mph. Of course HDMI2.1 is better and sexy....but in the real world HDMI2.0 is good enough for several years and will be great on next gen consoles.

    • @kevlarcardhouse252
      @kevlarcardhouse252 3 роки тому +2

      Exactly. And like the car scenario, you are paying extra for something you almost will never use. Developers like to always push things to the limit on consoles, where by the end of the generation, most games are struggling to stay above 30FPS and/or are being secretly upscaled. I feel like the PS5 and XBX owners obsessed with HDMI 2.1 are going to end up with a tiny handful of 4K/120hz options for this generation.

      While I agree with this assessment, for the price range I wanted to stay in, the Sony X900H was priced in that same range as the H9G and TCL 6 series this black friday, so it really made sense to go with the Sony. Even if the HDMI 2.1 option goes nowhere, I still have a TV with eARC for my future purchase of a nice soundbar system (just ARC on H9G) and a TV that generally has the more reliable picture performance and feel good feeling of support from the company (as opposed to the panel lottery of TCL). Ultimately, whatever I bought this year was always going to be a stopgap measure for whatever will be available in another 5-6 years' time, so as such I tried to keep my budget reasonable while still getting something nice. Who knows, if I find it good enough, I may even hold off longer before my next purchase.

    • @kevlarcardhouse252
      @kevlarcardhouse252 3 роки тому

      @@Gofr5 I went with the X900H too, mostly for the same reasons (very good price/performance ratio, Sony does better at the things I care most about, and especially since I was buying online, less chance of an after-purchase hassle due to a poor panel with the TCL). I think the criticism is more towards those who are obsessing over HDMI 2.1 being the only major factor, especially on gaming forums.

    1. LG CX (55) 1440 euros
    2. Samsung Q90T (1450 euros)
    I plan to buy ps5 and maybe later XSX too (depends on (possible) exclusives MS games). I play/watch any time of the day, but mostly at night
    and one more question please. I don't think we have (in Ireland) TCL, so probably I would have to order online from somewhere else. Would you recommend TCL (I have no idea which model since I never heard of this brand before) that would be similar equivalent to CX or Q90T ... or some TCL in around that price (1500 euro) ?
