    A work of art! True genius is rare and you have it in spades!

    Very good design. Thanks for sharing. Would be great if you could test it's overall efficiency, just in terms of the energy going in vs the available mechanical power on the shaft(HP). The recovered energy is bonus.

      Yeah, I'm just not sure how to do that. My strength is in design, not so much in testing. Would like to develop a tight community where different people come together and contribute their specialities. To design, build, and test these things to come up with a perfected design.

    nicely done 3:16 i do love that commutator. thank you so much for posting this video!!! i am looking art the components here, and im seeing that you have a 3dprinter, and im like if you move this in this way, and add this transformer, and this powerstrip, this becomes a very viable magnetic electric generator!

    How about Volt & Amper of output? To see if output power more than input power.

    • @redesign3dp
      @redesign3dp  Рік тому +3

      Sorry, I've never seen that happen in 20 years. I'm just using whats normally wasted but its never greater than the input.

    • @tonyrebeiro
      @tonyrebeiro Рік тому +5

      The recovered power, in some cases is proportionately higher in ratio but never more than what you put in. If the duty cycle gets too high and the coils are getting over saturated, then a larger portion of the input power is seen to be coming back via the recovery diodes. I have fed this recovered energy into an 83 farad capacitor and by measuring the voltage rise within a specific time window, the power can be calculated in Joules. This figure substantiates my observation, when comparing to the total power send in. I have measured up to 60% of the input power coming back through the recovery diodes across the coil.

      @@tonyrebeiro beautiful build, the strength of the newman design is very high efficiency throughout the rpm range, - i would consider the project complete with the motor has been installed into a machine and is tuned for optimum mechanical output efficiency (negligible eddy currents) simplest application would be a steady load, pump or fan. .... at which point i would expect you to have 95+% eff. very satisfying. - solid state sw

    What is its principle of operation?
    I'll replicate too.

    • @redesign3dp
      @redesign3dp  Рік тому +1

      There is a north/south rotor inside 2 pairs of drive coils. The commutator fires one pair, then the other pair every 190 degrees. The bemf is directed through a load to recover usually wasted energy.

    Very nice build. Its missing a couple key things that made his motor more efficient.

    • @redesign3dp
      @redesign3dp  7 місяців тому +1

      Yeah like the special commutator. I tried a few times to make one, maybe someday I'll try again. I should have named it a Newman style motor instead. Thanks for watching.

    • @allenhargis4317
      @allenhargis4317 7 місяців тому

      @redesign3dp yea. I think it shorts out like 7 times in one rotation through a diode to capture the fly back,he also had another coil wrapped around it only for capturing the fly back. The amount of copper required to make his motor correctly is prohibitive.

    • @redesign3dp
      @redesign3dp  7 місяців тому +1

      Your point about the copper is correct. I don't think a Big Eureka build is in my future.

    Most design their stator without Newman's pulse, harvest and short sequence....

    • @redesign3dp
      @redesign3dp  Рік тому

      Yeah, the shorting is a challenge. Its not a real Newman but the platform is Newman style. If he was still alive I'd send him one so he could work his magic. Thanks for watching!

    Difference is newmsns motor would work off a 9v battery i doubt yours would even start to spin on 9v 0a, your wire is tooo thick

    • @redesign3dp
      @redesign3dp  Рік тому +1

      Plus his had thousands of feet of wire. This is just a newman style, I haven't seen a real newman replication that worked like his yet.

      @@redesign3dp the longer wire creates a much bigger magnetic field which collapses into a much bigger spike, its impossible for a little one to have the ssme effect ,
      looks like his commutator had the positive and negative and both connections to the coils connected to it,
      so the bemf couldn't go back to the battery to destroy itself,
      but apparently if you collect the bemf with a full bridge rectifier, you can have that connected back to the battery from what i read if they are connected the right way around the motor will speed up, really the free energy comes from the mechanical work it can do for no current,
      only voltage but with this you can use a certain amount of volts to use it as a 1hp motor or more volts as a 100hp motor, the ones you can buy are only a set horse power , and needs a set voltage and a huge amount of current, Newman motors needs like 1000x less watts to do the same job, in a couple of months I'll be uploading some experiments , i wanted to make wind generator growing up but knowing the wind only turns the shaft a newman motor could do that for very little anyways, big con that wind energy.

      @@redesign3dp but having 4 connections on the commutator does bring new probems how do you stop it firing twice per revolution? It's the position of the 4 connections, need the +/- on opposite sides plates and the 2 coils on the 2plates above, not the 4 connected in a cross.
