Today, I filmed a Chit Chat- Get Ready With Me talking about how I almost failed nursing school this past semester. IT WAS A CLOSE CALL! I'm sharing my story with you in order to be more transparent and hopefully, you're able to learn from the wisdom I share in this video. Most importantly, I wanted to thank EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU who has subscribed to my channel, we made it to 1K, and what better way for me to thank you than with a GIVEAWAY! Girl, if this ain’t racial bias. They were treating you as if you have gotten nothing but straight F’s, are late to clinicals, disrespectful, etc.
You acknowledged your short comings, but I caution you to make sure that you aren’t deferring to people who may not have your best interests at heart. The fact that she said your needs improvements were worse than everyone else’s, that the chair of the department was told you didn’t know liver enzymes on the spot tells me everything I need to know. That is not something that’s reportable!! I didn’t know something similar during my clinicals, and my (white) instructor happily explained it to me and reminded me to make sure I knew it. She was awesome, and wanted us to learn and be good nurses; it sounds like your instructor was trying to “get you”.
You seem young, and you gave them the benefit of the doubt. Recognizing “slick” prejudice like this comes with time and age.
Unfortunately, the Nursing profession is full of a lot of racist people. You will continue to experience this in your career, and be sure you learn to recognize it. They were actively trying to discourage you and destroy your spirit. Something about your potential is threatening to them.
You said nurses are treating you unfairly at the hospital. Well, So is your school. Keep your head up!
I am LITERALLY in the same boat at the moment, sis. HOWEVER, I will continue to hold on to Matthews 17:20. All I need is a mustard seed of faith to move this mountain. 🙏🏾 I’m in my second to last quarter, I graduate in (3) months, and I say the same thing to myself, God hasn’t brought me all this way, just to bring me all this way and stop me right before the finish line. I refuse to believe that!

If you have the knowledge of God devil will not have space to get you down because when devil says to you that you can't God will remand you who you are that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you
Needed to see this. I just bombed my MedSurg exam friday and now I have to make an 82 on the comprehensive final to pass. I've cried all weekend, im scared/terrified, but you have given me hope. Thank you
I know its been a couple days but I hope within a few days that things have gotten better for you! I truly wish you the best of luck and hope that you're able to bounce back! It does not feel good to not do as well as you feel you should have, but i just want to remind you that that exam does not define who you are as a person or your competence as a nurse! These exams are really just designed to help us pass the NCLEX. I have had to incorporate even more videos and study tools because everything is online now and its been hard to focus. But I truly hope you know that you can do this!
Yikes I felt this! Accelerated nursing programs are so hard. Crying and imposter syndrome are so so normal. I'm glad you got some support from tutors!
What were some things that helped you through it? And yes, I'm so glad I started using my resources!
@@TheDanielleDenise I'm actually just starting my program! My mom went through an accelerated BSN program when I was in high school so I had an up close & personal view of what's it's like. such a rollercoaster ride!

It is always good to have that mindset...I am currently am beginning my career change and going towards nursing and all I hear is how hard Nursing School is. I understand why....students are there to learn about all the key factors of Nursing to maintain or save someone's life. Its a big job to do, so it should be expected that the classes & instructors will throw everything at you to see how you can handle it. If you cannot handle it in Nursing School, you won't be able to handle it when it involves someone's life. I think you have don well for yourself and pushing forward and not giving up will prove you are where you should be, keep going!
I'm sorry about this. I totally understand you. I finished my first semester of nursing school and there were times when I cried. Nursing school is a beast. I really hope you are feeling better. ☺️

can I jus say... I love the way you tell your stories - I appreciate your honesty & your real emotions. I'm still in the baby steps of completing my prerequisites to apply to an ABSN, or a collab ADN-BSN, or honestly I would love to get into an MECN (I have a bachelors in a diff field already) ... but I'm getting kinda chicken. I doubt myself and question myself all the time. I dunno if it's cause I feel like I'm old or what I dunno. ANYWAYS, I gravitate to your channel because you're real, authentic and you motivate me. I am excited for you and cannot wait to see you finish your program!! you go girl, you got this!

I just want to say how thankful I am for this comment. I was actually at the same crossroads a few years back trying to decide between programs and someone reminded me that I shouldn't sell myself short. It still took me some time to decide because I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. But then I finally decided to just go for it and left other nursing programs as a plan B. But I realized I wouldn't go for that if it came down to it. I will say there are people of all ages in this program, younger than me and twice my age with children starting a completely new career, which is so brave! Just know that its never too late you have more experience that prepares you for this than you think! Best of luck with your decision!

The Danielle Denise absolutely! It spoke to me bc I don’t want to fail either. I have a wife and son so I feel more pressure to do well. It’s also what’s making me hesitant but I begin my prerequisites this summer with the hopes of starting next year!
Thanks again. It was very encouraging and relatable. I had a similar situation I grad school but my internship supervisor was out for blood, but God 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾and the attorney I got made sure that didn’t happen.
The good thing too is that it sounds like your professors want you to succeed and they put effort in helping you as well so those are also great encouragements to remember.

You are a strong woman! God will take care and protect you. My issue with seasoned nurses and the instructors is that they forget where they came from. They once was a student and it baffles me how some of them can’t seem to empathize with the students and do everything they can to help you succeed. my clinical instructor gave me all ones and few 2's for my clinical eval when we only been there for 3 wks (twice a day) and she's already talking abt i'm not where I should be and that i'm to afraid to go into the pt's room blah blah .. I almost cried like fuck don't fail me... but she didn't luckily
