- Hey y'all! It's the time of year for fantastic prices on ham! I love the versatility of ham and all of the yummy things you can do with it beyond heating it up and eating it with sides. There are SO many ways to use up ham leftovers, and I just filmed a small handful of the ways I love to use it.
As always, I appreciate you all so so much!

I love to watch you cook. Your cooking is just so down to earth everyday dishes and you make from scratch cooking look so easy. I also love that you do not waste food. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes.
I agree. No exotic ingredients that we can’t get and couldn’t afford, no trophy kitchen that real people would never cook in, no designer cookware.
Same! You’re so down to earth and genuine.
Me too. A natural, isn’t she? And makes everyone feel like they can do it even if they’ve never picked up a pot in their life👍
Another great video. Freezing packets of chopped ham (cleaned of big pieces of fat) is great for quick pork stir fries, to add to any soup, eggs, casserole or make chopped ham salad for sandwiches etc. Always freeze your extra ham. That way you don’t get sick of eating it before it is gone. ;) I also like freezing slices to pull out and fry for a sandwich or nice breakfast anytime I want. Fried honey baked ham is one of my favorite things.
Just love your videos! I have learned so much about cooking, foods like black beans and how to make basic recipes. Huge fan!!!!
I love split pea soup. It’s been a while since I’ve made it. Easter ham bone is perfect timing!
Another great video. Always look forward to them. Keep it up, please.
When I get down to small pieces, I make Stromboli or add to eggs. I love your biscuit idea.
Great video love split pea soup.
“Just because flowers “ are the most romantic and most meaningful. Congratulations on having such a romantic and wonderful partner.
You could also just not blend that black bean soup if you dont have a blender or are lazy would still be plenty tasty.
Thanks!
I'm using our Easter ham bone to make a stock for pinto beans later in the week. Leftover cut up ham is great in omelettes as well. Have a Happy Easter!!
Everything looked delicious; the biscuits were an unexpected delight. Your family has a treasure in you.😊
Yum! The soup looked great before you blended it 😋 that classic carrot celery and onion mirepoix . I add leftover green beans, sweet potatoes...you name it. I love white beans in soup, they’re so creamy. Love your channel !
That’s a great variation! If I add sweet potatoes I won’t need bread/butter with the soup and it’ll give it nice color, texture and surprising sweetness! I’m going to make that for work lunches!! ❤️
That Monte Cristo sandwich looked delicious!!!!
I don't like ham enough to buy it like this -- but these meal ideas you shared just may change my mind.
I don’t eat ham anymore but I also love split pea soup in the crockpot, that bone is perfect. My grandmother used to make ham salad, great on sandwiches.
You are so good at this! You’re not just following recipes but you’re also creating, experimenting and you’re smart about knowing some chemistry and how to put ingredients and methods together. And most of all you have a very healthy attitude about mistakes (learning experiences) with solutions on the fly.
Watching you is just pure almond joy! Thank you for making these.
And Happy Ham Day to All and to All a Beautiful Spring!
This was worded really nicely and I agree with all of it.
Very well done video Lisa! I really enjoyed it. Those biscuits looked so delicious! Did your mom get any? 😂
Home made croutons would be great as a topping for your puréed black bean soup
Loved this video!! I use chopped leftover ham in my scalloped, and augratin potatoes. Also in ham and potato soup, in mac and cheese, a ham and cheese and broc quiche, in scrambled eggs, ham fried rice. I use in so many recipes. Thanks so much for sharing your recipes with is. Take care and God bless.

Homemade pizza with leftover ham, ALL THE VEGGIES, plus pineapple chunks
Happy Easter 🐣 thanks for sharing…
I would freeze the left over ham so I don’t have to eat ham for a week but I love all your dishes spread out over a few weeks.
She froze the bone... she knows, lol. I think she did it for us for the video. 😂
@@yvonnepalmquist8676 I of course realize that she did it for the video My comment was for the viewers and as a thank you to Lisa.
You made 5 recipes from one $8.50 ham, that's less than $1.50/recipe & each recipe was enough for 2 meals, so you fed 3 people for $0.25/serving....great savings!
i like to make a thick kind of soup with beans ham chunks and bacon, sometimes with egg noodles, other times with rice, depending on what we have left at that time
Your husband or boyfriend is lucky to have you cook such delicious affordable meals. Stay blessed
Lisa Dawn- Another great video. Please, please, please do a video talking about your journey learning to cook like this. It is a story that needs to be told!!!
I actually really like that idea because I didn’t grow up eating many homemade foods and didn’t learn to cook until I taught myself as an adult, so I would love for people to feel confident that it’s never too late to learn.
@@ThatLisaDawn yes!!! please do a video on it- I'm always impressed with what you do- and it is all so natural- tell us how it got that way!
@@ThatLisaDawnI grew up on a small farm in Oregon. My dad was out of work for a few years but we had a garden and some livestock. My mom was such a genius! To this day, when someone says " there is nothing to eat here" I'm channeling her skills and doing exactly what you do! Its all about creativity and resourcefulness. You are awesome!
@@ThatLisaDawn that's sooo cool . I'd love to hear some stories and mistakes you've made. looks like you were taught by someone's grandma. Lol. Resourceful and making comfort foods.
Bought mine at $0.89 per pound and going back tomorrow to pick up another :)
I wanted to take a moment to say thank you! I really love what you are doing here. I like your personality, the way you are natural and sweet and how you make amazing meals with so little.
You are truly an inspiration for all of us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!!!
Happy Easter!
I can't wait to find a few of these bad boys on sale!
I also like to use a shank ham. With our big family, we need a half size. I Mix brown sugar and 7 Up. Use toothpicks to hold pineapple rings in the ham and pir a maraschino cherry in the center with toothpicks, then slowly pour the brown sugar &7 Up over all of it. More bang for our buck than a spiral ham with glaze!!
that glaze sounds delicious!
My ma used to do the exact same thing! Brown sugar, 7 up, pineapple rings, maraschino cherries, toothpicks... :)
How much brown sugar and how much 7Up for a half a shank it sounds really good I like to try it
Have any of you ever done a ham with Dr Pepper glaze? I hear great things, but there are so many different recipes out there.
@@getoffmydarnlawn Dr pepper, coke either one good for glaze!
You always have wonderful ideas for stretching a meal. Thank you so much, sweet lady.
Another Great video! Thank you so much! You are a real down to earth person who cooks from the heart. Keep up the great work!
Everything looks soo good!! You always come up with great recipes that look so good and you don't have to have 20 ingredients.. Thank you for sharing!! Happy Easter! ✝ 🐰
I use my ham bone for 15 bean soup or collard greens. Yum!
An elderly lady that I used to take care of, would have me take the ham, put into a food processor for a couple seconds. Add bell pepper, onion, pickle and celery all chopped fine. Then add mayo and mix all together for ham salad spread.
Hi there 👋 I’m Tammy and I’m from California. I found your channel through pure luck about a week ago. I binge watched until every single video was watched, twice 😂. You have such a soothing voice and I absolutely love your ideas about how to make food go as far as possible. I was praying you would put a new video out soon so I could praise you on such an amazing job you do in the kitchen. I seriously could see you doing well if you ever decided to make a cookbook. Take my money 💴 😂. So good to meet you and thank you for the content you put out and allowing us into your home and personal space. Hope to see you again real soon. Happy Easter 🐣🐇 to you and your family 🥂✌🏻
Your so helpful. Thank you
I put mine in my smoker and let it slowly warm up it's delicious
Yum! Especially those biscuits! I will be trying those this next week!
Hey Lisa! I think those biscuits would be great served with those soups so you could dunk it into the broth! Yummy!
Yum! When I use my emersion blender I will tip the pot at an angle so I can blend without the blender being stuck to the bottom of the pot. I feel that it works better that way. Otherwise you have a shallow area to blend in and end up picking the blender up, and sticking it down to a new area to blend all of the thick bits.
Got an instant pot for Christmas and I'm terrified of that thing. Perhaps you could do a how 2 episode for us newbie to the instant pot game 😊🤣😝
That's actually a video I'm planning to do soon! I know I was definitely intimidated by my pressure cooker when I first got it.
I was so scared of mine until a friend explained to me all the safety features that are on these new ones 😂 So I sucked it up and made some chicken. Now I'm used to it and use it a few times a month for easy meals 👍🏻
Yes a video of all your standard instant pop uses. Please!
@@ThatLisaDawn I used it to boiled eggs for easter in only 5 minutes. But ruined a meat loaf 🤣😝
This might sound weird lisa but trust me. Your carrots next time. Boil them in chicken bullion and when they are fork tender, add a pat of butter ( use your heart) and add dill weed ( again use your heart). The sweet earthy carrots with dill make me think of sunshine. Also try cooking you ham in coke cola. Most tender ham ever. So your ham soup with black beans. I think sweet potatoes might be amazing in that.
Please tell me you that you saved that bone to add to your veggie scraps for a better broth!!
I always use Coke to baste my ham. There is nothing better!!
I make a glaze with honey, orange juice, orange marmalade and a little cinnamon and it tastes great on ham. Also, I always serve green beans with ham . . . maybe it's just a thing that I was brought up with . . . but nothing is better with ham!
You mac n cheese looked good, when I make mine I use either spinach or broccoli in it for veggie and also add fire roasted tomatoes or rotel tomatoes, it adds a good flavor to the mac n cheese (usually I use hamburger in my mac n cheese but when you have ham, that is what you use), all of this makes for a hardy meal with lots of nutritional value along with the comfort. Thanks for your video, you had some great ideas, I think I will try the montey cristo and it is still cold with snow on the ground where I live so black bean soup would be good. Good money saving videos.
Woo! Always love to see a new video from you, Lisa!
I haven't had ham in awhile
I have always thought it was supposed to be dry mustard in the cheese sauce, not prepared mustard...???...🤔
Both work equally well, just to add the mustard flavour.
I love ham with au gratin potatoes or with Alfredo noodles
Great ideas. Have yet to try with Alfredo noodles. I used ham in my au gratin potatoes along with broccoli and I considered it a full-on meal. Very easy too.
Yum!
You're so sweet and articulate. Skilled and practical. It is so relaxing to listen and watch you cook even a VEGAN clicks on this video! 🧚🥰✨
Hey girl I miss your videos 🥺🙏 Need some grocery inspiration and menu ideas!!! Hope you are doing well and all is okay 👍. Definitely used your pea soup recipe... yummy food 😋
Thank you for the great ideas for ham...I bought a ham shank also...when I make carrots as a side dish I add butter and lemon juice, it’s my husband’s favorite. Happy Easter 🐣
"Let me know what your favorite way is to use up leftover ham..."
I don't think I have a single method, and you kind of covered the ones I prefer like making sandwiches and soup. I don't make the same kind of sandwiches though, mine are more simple/plain.
I do also fry up the ham slices like bacon, slow and low in pork fat.
Can also dice it up really fine, basically minced and add that to rice, kind of like a pork fried rice.
Cooking collard greens with some of that ham is good, I prefer bacon but I can get by with that ham instead, especially if I am including the ham bone.
I freeze in 1c portions and add to soups and casseroles. I can get away with half amount of meat if I use ham because of how flavorful it is compared to chicken.
I'm a year late.
I live in Bama.
We make a dish called Creamed Ham. You pour it over homemade biscuits or toasted bread.
You just cut up the ham in small pieces or you could put it in the food processor.
You can choose your own texture: small, extra small or even smaller. No big chunks or it wouldn't be Creamed Ham.
Make a milk gravy. Add pepper. Mix the ham in. Stir. Then taste to see if you need any salt at all.
Pour over split homemde biscuits or bread toasted a dark amber. You need it toasted well so the creamed ham doesn't cause it to get soggy.
like s.o.s. with ham instead of chipped beef,,,i like that,,,great idea...thanks
I love your cooking, you cook like a real person would on a budget or finding a great deal. Always look forward to your videos too get more ideas! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the great ideas, Lisa!👍
“Hammed out.” haha 🍖
I love your videos! :)
Love your channel!
I am going through these recipes each day since we bought our ham. We made the black bean soup today everyone loved it! Thank you so much for your down to earth nature and everyday cooking!! I really love your videos! My family is thankful:)
Thank you for the video! ☺♥☼
Thanks for watching! 💙💙💙
Yummy to everything!
💜💜💜Love the videos!
Dry powdered mustard especially the Colman brand is a good substitute for mustard spreads. A 1/4 teaspoon is usually enough. The dry powdered mustard is also the spice flavor besides turmeric in chicken soups.
Thanks, I'll try that next time! 💙
I enjoy Pea & Ham Soup. Your dishes looked dazzling! Thank you for the video!
Thank you for making the video. I will be doing some of these recipes and thank you for the spilt pea soup recipe one of my favorite soups and could not remember how to make it. scalloped potatoes with ham after easter can only be made so many times.
Well done Lisa! Have to try those biscuits ASAP! Thank you for your video. I enjoy your channel and am always excited when you post a new video.
The biscuits were so fantastic! I hope you try them and love them!
You could use the ham in a pot of beans or peas ( I love making black eye peas with ham, I use the Goya ham seasoning in ham and cabbage as well as my beans/peas, and i bake cornbread to go with), or make ham and cabbage. Small pieces could be used in scrambled eggs, omelettes, salads, or cut in pieces to fit in a biscuit.
You could cook some ham with turnip greens mustard greens, collard greens, etc.
You could use smaller pieces on a ham and pineapple pizza ( if you'd used pineapples when baking the ham to begin with). I bake my hams with crosshatch cuts. I press in some brown sugar, then use a toothpick to spear a maraschino cherry and push that through a ring of pineapple into the ham. Then I use a big can of pineapple juice, pouring over and around the ham. I add some brown sugar into the juice, since I'll baste the ham with the juice. This allows the cherries and pineapples to become candied a bit.
What a wonderful video. I am inspired! Happy Easter! 🐣🐰🌸
Happy Easter to you as well! 💙
Roses from Andrew? He’s a wonderful partner.
He really is! They were “just because” flowers 🥰
Those are the best kind of Rose's...he is such a sweetheart 💕
I always save my ham bone. It's great in a big old pot of crockpot beans! That was a great price on ham. When I do find them on sale, I buy them. Great ideas for the leftovers!
That cheese recipe you made with the spinach would also be good over baked potatoes if you didnt have any pasta. Or wanted to change it up. Everything looks great. I love making green beans and ham and new potatoes with a ham bone. Always save my ham bones too.
I love when green beans are in season. I boil ham with string beans, onions and potatoes. 💖
I add cabbage too
Love all your recipes. You are a beautiful lady and so talented!
Love your videos, Lisa!
Thanks for all the great tips!! Happy Easter from New Hampshire!
You are so much fun. Love to watch all your videos. Bottom line, you're real, no bells n whistles.
Thank you 💙
Yummy food, n beautiful roses😆
I Love You, Lisa Dawn! My family will be grateful to have left over ham options that vary from straight up ham sandwiches and ham casseroles! 😄😄
Yum! That Monte Cristo really made me drool😊! I’ve never made one before because I thought of it as overboard, but how wrong I WAS! It looks soooo good that I’m just going to have to spoil myself a little 😋
Thanks, definitely trying the Monte Cristo, and the biscuits.
Where are you used water to start your glaze ,have you ever used pineapple juice ? if not then ,you have to try the pineapple juice! we do pineapple juice, mastered and brown sugar. It just sends it to another level. My Mommy always used that glaze and we would place sliced pineapple on the ham shank as it baked.
Hi I am new here. You are adorable and your videos are good. Oh and by the way I am probably old enough to be your grandmother. 👍👍👍Good job! I will have to subscribe
I just found your channel and I’ve been binge watching your videos. I have been loving them! I’d love to see a video of how you keep your kitchen organized and if you have any tips or kitchen organization.
Yummmmm!!!!! 😍😋🤤
Thanks again for all the inspiration, love!
Some great ideas. Definitely going to try the Monte Cristo. Thank you, Lisa.
I made a similar pasta recipe recently that called for a cup of frozen peas. It was a nice addition, too. I love your channel!
Looks great as always. Thanks for the new Ideas for leftover Ham.
I have learned how to make beans delicious from you! Thank you!
Excellent recipes! Thanks for sharing your time.
I enjoy watching you're video's. Interesting on how you can stretch a buck .
Those are some great ideas. I love the frugality of your cooking. We got an Easter ham and it had a large bone, too. So ham stock was born. With cooked white beans, mirepoix, and fresh kale growing in the windowsill that was the most delicious soup I've made all year. A trick I use to get all the meat off the bones is to dip the ham bone into boiling water for about five minutes. Then cool and pick off all the meat, adding all the bone and cartilage back into the pot to simmer overnight, then strain. It takes a bit of planning, but worth it. I'll chop the pickings into small bits to add to the soup the next day or freeze into little packets for stir fry or fried rice. We like the soup brothy, but can change it up with elbow macaroni, pearled barley, or leftover rice.
just found your channel and am really enjoying your videos 😊
Great ideas! I love bean soup. Ham bone, ham, carrots, celery, onion and great northern beans. Delish
What was added to the dough? Ham, maybe green onion? What was the yellow stuff?
All your recipes look easy & delicious. You really have a gift!
I absolutely love yoir videos....keep up the great work!
👍🏻impressive ! Thank you for sharing.
You have such great ideas. I love watching you. You sooth the soul!
Yum! Love these ideas! I don't think I've ever had a Monte Cristo sandwhich, but it sounds delicious 😋
You should try it out sometime, it was very easy and very delicious!
Looks like my split Pea soup only I also add potatoes .
I pull out the big chunks of potatoes not to smashed or whipped. Then add potatoes back after blending. I add the ham so you have bites of ham and potatoes . The carrots sweeten the soup.
Thank you so much for posting consistently!!
Great suggestion. Hope your family enjoyed Easter.
