  • Recently I was tagged by good friend Rick from RickT Outdoor/Adventure. The tag was to make an item of camp furniture or something useful to have around camp. No pot hangers or tripods. So in this video I attempt to make a table of sorts from scrap timber that was destined for the fire. It was a nice project to do and I would like to thank Rick for the invitation to do it. I will leave it as an open tag for anyone that may be interested in having ago yourself. Links to some of the kit used in the video are listed below. Thanks for watching...……

    Absolutely stellar Mark. Thanks for sharing! Some "X" shaped struts on the sides would all but eliminate your wobble. Looking forward to the spirit burner stand!

    Excellent video, and great table. One thing I have noticed in my time is that strait wood is a myth. Wood will twist and bend after you cut it as well. But everything I have made in the bush is stronger, and last longer than I ever thought possible. That table will be around for a long time. Good tip on using seasoned dowels.

    • @markbailey2981
      @markbailey2981  4 роки тому

      Hi Derek, many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, it is always nice to hear from you :) I agree about the wood. Using wood straight from the tree is hardly ever straight anyway. The amount if times I have seen a straight piece and cut it down only to find it has a bow or twist in it. I suppose that's why, when they used to make wooden arrows they used to straighten the shafts with heat to manipulate it straight. Hopefully the table will last a while :) I will fix the wobble then crack on with a couple of thrones :) Have a great weekend, all the best, Mark.

I need a couple of seats, so that will be on the cards soon :) As daft as it seems, the hardest thing is finding suitable wood for the projects. Most if these pine woods don't tend to have a decent selection of different woods to use. The Pine branches here are usually 40ft up in the air and hardly ever straight. But I will have a good look around once things start dying back a bit and I can get deeper into the woods :) Have a great day Carl..... all the best mate, Mark :)

    Hello Mark, Hope you're keeping well. Great video as ever, brilliant looking table with some great joints made with the knife. Not started the leather tinder pouch yet, still on the "Things To Do List" lol ): By the way do you get your leather supplies in Bakewell or Matlock? I use Identity Leather in Matlock. Cheers for now Mel Clarke

      Hi Mel, I hope you are keeping well mate and had a nice weekend :) Yes I have used the Identity store in Matlock a few times. I sometimes pop in on the way to Bakewell if I am going to the Woodland ways shop. They have a nice range of leather and tools etc and it's nice to call in and see what you are buying. Another place I use is Artisan leather supplies. She is in Devon, but it is all on line anyway. I will leave a link as she does smaller pieces of leather which are a decent price and they are always at the door the following day :) www.artisanleather.co.uk/ Many thanks for watching Mel and taking the time to comment :) All the best, Mark.
