On a website full of trolls and hatred it is heartwarming to see people care about Mark and come back, two years after the last video, to say nice things and check he is ok, which he is of course. I just thought it was worth mentioning Mark, something about these videos brings in nice people who care, bravo Sir and may you be happy in what you are doing now. If you come back, we will be here!
I'm sorry you're not posting anymore myself, I really enjoyed your videos, hope you're well Mark, I do always stop by your channel for any updates.👍🏻😁👍🏻
I know everything has been A over T and you are almost certainly OK, I just wanted you to know somebody thought about you and wished you well today. Hope life gets back to normal soon fella, enjoy your day.
Hi Jimmy, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. Many thanks for stopping by.... it is great to hear from you. Have a great week mate, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲🌲.
Hi mark good vid buddy .. I like it when you build stuff , shows your Awesome skill .. been super hot .. I like your pressie.. it lit easy .. have a good week .. cheers Chris & Sam
Hi Chris & Sam, I hope you are both keeping well 👍. Yes, the weather has been spot on..... it looked like you all caught the sun from your last trip. I'm working outside today, so no doubt it will rain later lol. Thanks for stopping by..... have a great week, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲🔥.
Hey Mark, thanks for the shout out. I am glad you like the tonteldoos. These days I have been adding a spark wheel to the tonteldoos (which I buy off ebay) which round out the system. Good to see that you are keeping safe in these strange times mate, another good video wish I could get out into the bush more.
Hi Orion, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. Thanks again for the toteldoos mate. It is a great piece of kit. I did a video thanking you back when the lockdown first started, but I never ended up uploading the video. So it was nice to be able to get out and do it again. I will have to get one of the strike wheels. I will take a look at them when I get home later. Stay safe mate...... have a great week, all the best, Mark 😀👍🔥🔥.

@@waveman0 Cheers for the info 👍. I have just taken a look at the ones from the link and they look very similar to the ones they sell locally at the Army surplus store. I have got to have a trip out there for some MRE's so I will take a look at them. If not I will check if we can get the equivalent here from the UK ebay 👍👍.
Good morning Wade, I hope you have had a nice weekend mate 👍. The camp is getting there Wade. As you know, if something should take about 20 minutes, it takes about an hour when your trying to record it lol. Hopefully it should be finished by 2022 lol. Rick recorded a few small clips whilst we were out. He did a tag video and included it on there. It was nice to meet up with him. It's a shame that we are so far apart. You could take me out on the lakes and get some fishing and camping done. Thanks as always Wade..... have a great week mate, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲.
@@markbailey2981 Yes that little body of water called the "Atlantic Ocean" turns out to be a problem when it comes to collaboration videos mate!😂 Take care it was great to see you out!
Hi G P, I hope you had a nice weekend mate 👍. I was surprised it turned out how it did. I expected it to tip up or have a job getting it to work lol. I could do with a jungle or beach camp...... get away from it all and spend a few weeks away everything.... great stuff 🌲🌲🌲. Have a great week G P, all the best Mark 👍😀.
Very watchable bush-craft videos Mark, sorry to hear about the working situation, I also hope you are back soon with more great and inspiring bush-craft videos.
Hi Adam, many thnaks for watching 👍👍. I have just started a new job, so once I have settled into it, I will get back out filming. Have a great evening, all the best, Mark :)
Hi Imran, I hope you have been keeping well mate 👍. Hopefully once I get back to work, then I will get back out and carry on with some new videos. have a great week, all the best, Mark 😀👍🌲🌲.
The camp is looking nice. I thinks that fire starter is nice. The hot weather is tough, it’s been a very hot summer over here. Thanks and take care Mark.
Hi Mark! Yes, the camp looks ready for an overnighter. At least for cooking something delicious over the fire. I wish you lots of fun doing it. ATB and stay safe brother, André
Good afternoon Andre..... I hope you are having a nice weekend brother 👍. I agree, it is about time I got a few overnighters in. Plus whilst I'm out, I will make a start on a few other projects I have in mind. It is great to hear from you as always Andre... have a great week ahead. All the best, Mark 😀👍🌲.
Hi Mark, only me mate. Just a quick line to see how you’re doing and hoping you’re well and staying safe. Hopefully this mess will soon be over and everyone can put it behind them. Stay busy my friend, all the very best, Paul.
Good morning Paul..... it is great to hear from you my friend. I have just started a new job, so as long as they don't start locking things down again things should start to pick up. Have a great weekend, all the very best, Mark :)
@@markbailey2981 Great news Mark, here’s wishing you all the very best with your new job and an end to lockdowns. Have a great weekend my friend, keep safe and well. Atb, Paul.
Ahhhh. See Mark, this is why I enjoy hanging out with you lol. Sadly, at 54 years young, I’ve never seen the BRILLIANT idea of the measuring cord. I’m happy to steal this gem of an idea(I’ve actually already made a 10ft section just now😂). The camp is coming together very nice my friend! I hope all is good there and the craziness isn’t making you too batty🦇 Be well!!!
Hi Brian.... I hope you are keeping well my friend. I'm OK here thanks. Just trying to sort some work out after the lock down, but something will crop up. I find the measuring cords come in handy. I have used them for years. They also come in use for checking water depths and to use as a plumb line by tying a stone to the end 👍. I hope the restrictions are easing for you now Brian and you are managing to get out... have a great weekend.. all the best, Mark 😀🌲🌲🌲.
Hey Mark, been a while since you last uploaded a video... Hope everything is ok. Looking forward to seeing a new video, or at least getting some news from you. Cheers brother!
Hi ja vy, I hope you have been keeping well 👍. I'm all good here thanks. Sorry for the lack of videos, I have been trying to manage the lockdown restrictions and tying to find work. Fingers crossed it wont to for too much longer. it is great to hear from you and thanks for getting in touch. Stay safe brother, all the best, Mark 👍😀.
Hi Mark...Hope you are well and will be back on here soon....I still have my Coleman Cup like yours and its made to last....All the best from the UK,,,,,,,,,,,,
A useful fire lighter there Mark. Reliable! I gotta say the camps coming on. I was thinking I admire your patience to build and crucially film for us every time. The table coming through the wall is pretty neat. I wouldn't have thought of that. Good going. All the best. Mark
Hi Mark, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. I enjoy the filming part. Admittedly, what would usually take about half an hour usually takes about 2 lol. It is the same as when you go out for hikes, I always think that the hikes must be twice as long due to having to go back and pick up the camera. If only we had a film crew lol. Thanks as always for stopping by Mark, it is great to hear from you. Have a great week mate, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲🌲.
Excellent video Mark, the Tondeldoos is Afrikaans for Tinder-Box (Doos being a box and also an insult - calling a person thick). It was apparrently developed around the Anglo-Boer war and even used by the old President Paul Kruger way back in the day ... I've been meaning to make one ever since finding out about them almost a year ago. I hope you are keeping well? Catch you soon buddy Chris
Hi Chris, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. I have been well impressed by the Tonteldoos. I watched a video from the region where they were developed. The history behind them was very interesting. They mentioned the Anglo-Boer war and showed how they were made and used. I hope the new lockdown isn't causing you too many problems Chris. I have had to take my car off the road until I can get back into work again. It's a pain, but there isn't much I can do about it 😒. Have a great week mate, all the best, Mark 😀👍🌲🌲.
@@markbailey2981 hey buddy, all is good, I didn't really know it was linked to a certain region but that sounds interesting to look into. Lockdown isn't a huge problem for me aswork continues so hopefully all will be good for you asap!! Cheers buddy, good to catch up

Great to see you back Mark. Coming along nicely. Look forward to the overnighter. Be interesting to see the kit you bring for that. Stay well and look forward to the next vid.
Good afternoon Scott.... I hope you are having a nice weekend mate 👍. Fingers crossed the next video will be an overnighter, so I will most probably do a quick gear run down. Hi Mark. I'm glad to see you out enjoying the weather. The camp is really coming along mate, I look forward to seeing you do an overnighter there. The Tontledoos is a clever idea and a new one on me. Thanks for sharing Mark. Be safe and be lucky man. Wol.
Good afternoon Wol, I hope you are having a nice weekend. Yeah the tonledoos are a neat idea. They look easy to make, plus it would help to keep the tinder dry. I will have to experiment with it and use the flint and steel. Thanks as always for stopping by Wol..... take care mate, all the best, Mark 😀👍🌲.
Hey Mark, I have a couple different ones of those tantaloons. One has wax dipped cotton rope, the other has vasolin dipped cotton balls. Now Ill make one with rolled char cloth in it. Nice video, by the way.
Hi Earl, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. I will have to try the cotton rope version. I have some old ropes laying around at work. I think the cloth that he used for the char cloth was denim. I imagine it has to be strong enough once charred that it can be rolled up and slid into the tube. The stuff I make would probably turn to dust lol. Thanks for taking the time Earl.... have a great week mate, all the best, Mark 👍😀🔥.
Hi thegazbo, I hope you are having a nice weekend mate. Yeah I meant to get out last week to do the video, but I spent the day meeting up with Rick. All the best, Mark 👍😀🌲🌲.
Hi Mark, Hope you are keeping well and good to see you enjoying this weather we've been having. Just been catching up on your videos. I like the look of the Rush backpack Mark seems an ideal daypack or overnighter. Your camp is looking really good mate and I'm sure you are really happy with your new woodland permission (green with envy on that one). Keep enjoying. I know you like the Peak District and I'm lucky enough to be able to get there pretty much every week with a mate of mine, just wondering if it's going to be too hot tomorrow though. We were up on Birchen Edge a week ago and it was really hot, we must be getting old lol, should be OK though as we always end up at the pub to wet the whistle. Look forward to you next video mate. Take care and stay safe. Best wishes Mel Clarke
Good morning Mel, I hope you are keeping well mate. Yes this hot weather has made a nice change. I have been enjoying the lightning and thunderstorms at night as well. I even managed to get some nice photos of the lightning the other night. I think it is going to be another hot day today Mel....... I would take plenty of water. I also take a bag of boiled sweets when it is really hot. It gives you something to suck on whilst walking, plus with the heat I don't really like a lot to eat so they also give some energy during the hike. The rush 72 is an brilliant pack Mel. My next door neighbor bought a couple after the review. He said he found a shop in the UK that had 25% off all 5.11 gear. Have a great day out Mel..... don't forget the sun tan cream...... take care mate, all the best, Mark 😀👍🌲🌲.

@@markbailey2981 I’m so glad all is ok, great news Mark. Sorry about your car, right before Christmas too 😩. Here’s praying you can get it fixed soon mate. Looking forward to your next instalment 😊, keep well and stay safe my friend 👍🏻🙏🏻
First time that I am hearing of a 'Tonteldoos', but you referred to a 'Slow Match' about which, I believe is an old British Navy Sailors Rope soaked in tar oil or similar,, kept in a tin with flint and steel and called a 'British Wick', however, Google is unlikely to provide any information except perhaps possible references to myself mentioning it elsewhere. Nowadays, I simply use the strands from a cotton mop soaked in WD 40 and sealed with paraffin wax. It doesn't really require a tube, but it helps for snuffing out the smouldering end.
Hi Robert, I hope you are keeping well mate. Many thanks for the info on the old slow match. I remember seeing a reference to them at a naval museum when I was younger, that must be where I heard the term. I like the idea that you have about using a mop head. It has been mentioned on a few videos about using mop head in the tonteldoos. I might have to give it a try once the charred cloth has been used. Thanks for taking the time Robert..... it is always great to hear from you. Have a great week, all the best, Mark 😀👍🔥.
@@markbailey2981 Yes Mark, I reckon you could char the 100% cotton rope strands from an old fashioned Mop Head very effectively plus, you get a lot of strands for your money too. I don't possess any Flint & Steel Kit so hence I prefer to soak mine in WD-40 and seal with Paraffin Candle Wax so I can use it with a Ferrocium Rod as a Tinder Booster. I have been toying for years trying to make a small tube with a winding mechanism (similar to what you get for your Wick on your Kerosene Lamps) to enable me to wind the rope out of a tube and then, back in again after it has done its job, but never found the right combination.. Saying Wick for Lamps, those too can be bought as cheap as chips and also used instead of the Mop Strings. I can still buy those old fashioned Mop Heads here in Bulgaria very cheaply, but not sure if they still sell them in the UK or not. Have a great day.
@@RobertsBulgaria I agree, lamp wicks make great char. I bought a couple of meters from ebay and it lasted for years. I used to char the end and use it with a magnifying glass. As for the old mop heads. We can buy them from old style hardware shops, but most are the synthetic microfiber type. Not the best for tinder lol. Thanks again, all the best, Mark 😀👍.
Hey Mark, I stumbled across some of your older videos, and was scared for a moment that something happened to you, due to you not uploading since covid started. the camp is coming along nicely Mark, i went out on Sunday after work with a plan to camp for the night at a lochside and spend Monday fishing but I've never seen so many people camping it was incredible, i managed to find a quiet spot in a small copse on a hill the midges were brutal so i was mainly hammock bound but after a long day at work i was fine with that. fishing was ok couple of brown trout around the 1lb mark. take care Mark atb Colin
Hi Colin, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. You can't beat a couple of Loch caught browns. I bet they looked nice. I was buying in a lot of 20lb stocked browns last year and they never look right. I prefer a wild or semi wild fish any day. I bet it was a pain when you turned up to find your favorite spot taken up by a load of campers. I suppose with the nice weather, school holidays and people not leaving the country as much, a lot of nice areas are going to get a lot busier this year. It is the same around here at the moment. Fingers crossed it will start raining again soon and we can get some space back lol. Have a great week Colin.... stay safe mate, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲.

Really nice film Mark and thanks for the shout out and mention as well 🙂👍. Was a great trip over to meet you. Love that coppervtube idea with the charred wick for Flint n Steel. The camps looking mint and a top job of the wind break and table/ chair. Where do you usually buy your bank line and what number are you using there ? I reckon it would be good for bow strings . Love the measuring string too with the adjustable orange line which moves up and down. What a great simple idea. I have inches notched on the back of my axe handle but that idea is cool 👍. Great job of the camp building as usual, looked really tidy . Cheers Mark, all the best fella. Rick n Billy 👍
Good afternoon Rick, I hope you are having a nice weekend mate 👍. Thank you for popping over..... it was great to meet up with you and Billy. I enjoyed the day and spending some time with you both. I usually buy my bankline on line. I was looking the other day at the prices and it can vary from £15 to £75 depending where you buy it. It is crazy that some people want to charge so much for it. Ebay and Amazon tend to have the cheapest. I tend to use the stuff made by Catahoula which is a good make, but for the things I have been using it for, I could get away with buying and using the cheaper tarred line. I tend to use No36 which is the most popular size. It has a braking strain of around 400lb, so it's plenty for me. It is the same as the stuff I sent up to you ages ago. Yeah the measuring cords have come in handy over the years. I tend to carry one at work about 50' long. It gets used for simple measuring, plus I have also tied a stone to the end to check water depths and also use it as a plumb line. Simple but effective. Thanks as always Rick.... it is always great to hear from you. Have a great week, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲.
Hi Trev, I hope you are enjoying the weekend mate. The beauty of the woods are they are always there for when you fancy a day out. Hey Mark🙂 The camp is looking great! I really like your table/chair. I may borrow the idea😂 Glad to see you out and having fun👍🏻 that tinder tube is awesome! We do a similar method over here with a smaller diameter tube and jute twine. You just pull it back in the tube and it snuffs it out for the next use.

@@paulwilliam9829 Hi Paul.... many thanks for your kind words. My car was sort of fixed, but I am waiting to get some money to have a new injector valve fitted. What happened to the old cars that you could fix yourself in the street. Now it has to be plugged into a computer and costs a fortune lol. I wouldn't mind, but its an old crappy thing anyway. Yes, some of the restrictions are being eased, thankfully.... so once my car is reliable again it will be all systems go. Have a great day Paul 👍👍.
Hi Stuart, I hope you are keeping well mate. I am all good thanks..... it has been non stop at work though. Have a great Christmas too and the very best to you and your family. 🎅🎅.
Hi mate, many thanks for watching 👍👍. The saw is a Silky Gomboy. They are a great saw...... but unfortunately I snapped the blade at work last week. I ended up replacing it with a Silky Bigboy which has a larger blade and cuts really easy. Have a great week, all the best, Mark :)
Hi Jim, I hope you are keeping well mate. Hopefully I will get back out doing a few vids again, I have been busy with a new job that I started last year. I', glad the spoon is still going strong mate 👍👍. Have a great week, all the best, Mark :)
Hi Mark. I love your channel. Very relaxing! I have been trying to pin down you accent but I have been failing. The best I can do is “Up north”! Where are you from?
Hi Stalwart, many thanks for watching and for the kind words. My accent is mainly a Potteries accent (Staffordshire), but I have lived and worked all over the country so I think it must be a bit mixed now lol. Have a great week, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲🌲.
Hi Kevin, it is good to hear from you 😃. I'm all good thanks mate. Thankfully things are returning to normal and managed to get a job. I hope you are keeping well, all the best, Mark :)
Hi Wol, its great to hear from you mate 👍. I hope you have been keeping well yourself. I'm all good thanks mate. I had been busy volunteering at the farm getting it ready for winter and planting a load of trees for them. But then when I had some free time to get out my car failed it's MOT. So it is unfortunately off the road until I can get back to work. Typical! Saying that I had that extra 6 month extension, but now I'm paying for it lol. All the pot holes don't help. Two broken road springs!! Thanks again Wol for getting in touch mate. I noticed that you have uploaded a video. I will watch it in a bit after my tea. Take care mate, all the best, Mark 😀👍🌲🌲.

@@markbailey2981 Sorry to hear you're having to look for work brother. I also hope these lock downs won't be for much longer, but I see everything lining up for the fulfilment of Bible prophecy. I don't see any mention of America in Bible prophecy, and suddenly America is falling apart. I knew it had to happen, but I just didn't expect it to happen so suddenly. I don't know what you're hearing across the pond, but living here I can tell you that we now have an illegitimate leader in office who hates Israel and Christianity. The good news for us is we have a personal relationship with our Lord and Saviour and we know the end of the story. I'll be praying for your work situation. Take care of yourself brother, Eric
Hi Imran, I hope you are keeping well 👍👍. I'm all good here thanks. I have started a new job so that has been keeping me busy. Speak soon, all the best, Mark :)
Hi Mark, apologies but I never saw this come up on my feed, I thought I hadn’t seen anything from you in a while. Your camp is coming along great isn’t it. The idea of a table/bench just on the side of the heat shield is just an excellent idea mate. The copper char cloth holder is great, I like that you can stick the end cap on to douse the ember. Thanks for the upload mate and once again sorry I missed this mate 👍
Good morning Ant, I hope you are well mate 👍. No need to apologise mate, I miss videos all the time. I get most notifications, but some slip through, The tinder tube is a net idea. Traditionally they are used with a flint and steel, but the magnifying glass worked a treat. Have a great weekend Ant.... speak soon, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲🌲.
Hey man, just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. I'm psyched to see what might be coming in 2021. I was curious if you had ever considered doing a Patreon page to go along with your UA-cam channel? I would certainly be willing to kick a donation your way as I'm sure many of your other subscribers would. Much love from "the States"
Hi Tim, I hope you are keeping well brother. I am all good here thanks. Sorry for the lack of videos since the latest lockdown here. I have had to take my car off the road until I can return to work. A few people have mentioned setting up a Patreon account. I don't t like asking people for money so it wouldn't feel right. Hi Mark, Hope you are keeping well mate? Not seen anything from you for a while so I thought I would drop a line to make sure you are OK? I would appreciate your input on the Hultafors Mini Hatchet as I know from some of your earlier videos you have experience with Hultafors axes. I'm considering purchasing one to use for spoon carving. They look ideal for the job but I haven't had a Hultafors axe before. I currently have a Gransfors axe which is great but not ideal for spoon work, a touch heavy. Take care and stay safe. Mel Clarke
Good morning Mel, I hope you have had a nice weekend mate 👍. I'm all good thanks mate. I have been busy trying to find another job, plus I have been spending quite a lot of time at the farm where I volunteer. The owner has bought a couple of 1960's wood turning lathes, so we have been setting them back up and getting them running. It has been a good learning experience. I will defiantly try and get down the woods this week. I love Hultafors axes. Funny I was looking at the carving hatchet last summer. They use a decent steel that stays sharp for a long time and when it needs sharpening it is very easy to work with. I'm sure you would be happy with one if you decided to go for a Hultafors Mel. They are usually a lot cheaper than the Gransfors, but they still have quality about them. Have a great week Mel.... speak soon mate, all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲🌲.

Excellent video Mark, the Tondeldoos is Afrikaans for Tinder-Box (Doos being a box and also an insult - calling a person thick).

Hi Earl, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. I will have to try the cotton rope version. I have some old ropes laying around at work. I think the cloth that he used for the char cloth was denim.
Hi Mark, Just a quick message to see if you're doing OK? Not seen any of your videos posted for a while mate so hope all is well. Hope the job search is proving positive. Anyway best wishes and stay safe. 🌳🌲👍
Hi Mel, I hope you are keeping well mate. I'm all good thanks mate 👍. The job search is a bit slow lol. I am waiting to get back on the fishery, but it looks like that will be in the spring now. Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while; I have had to take my car off the road until I can afford to get it through its MOT again, so I haven't been able to get out to the woods. Fingers crossed it will be sorted soon. Thanks for the message Mel..... have a great week mate all the best, Mark 👍😀🌲🌲.
Hi Mark, gotta be outside in this weather, eh! Very interesting idea for the tinder box/tube, thanks for sharing. Camp coming along nicely too. All the best, Gerry
Hi Gerry, I hope you are having a nice weekend mate 👍. I agree mate.... I was surprised by how hot and sunny it is again today. I have just got back in from having a walk and a spot of lunch. I thought I would make the most of it before the rain comes again. Have a great week ahead Gerry, all the best, Mark 😀👍🌲.
Looking good, Mark! The camp is really coming along nicely!
Hi Brian, I hope you are having a nice weekend mate 👍. It is great to hear from you as always. Hopefully everything is getting back to normal out there again now. We are having mini lockdowns here. That reminds me I have got one of your videos saved to watch. I will watch that later after tea. I hope you have a great week ahead Brian.... stay safe brother, all the best, Mark
I just stumbled across your channel and have enjoyed a couple of your videos. I hope that you get the chance to make some more if you want to. Take care.
Hi Mark, just a quick line to ask how you’re doing. Hope you are ok mate and keeping safe. Been a while I know, can’t be easy at the moment what with covid doing the rounds. Anyway, hope you’re out and about soon, keep well and stay safe. Atb, Paul. 👍🏻🙏🏻
Hi Paul, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. Many thanks for getting in touch. I'm all good thanks mate. I have had to take my car off the road to get some work done for its MOT, but since I'm not working it hasn't been done yet lol. Fingers crossed, it wont be long before I get back to work and back to some kind of normality. Have a great week Paul..... thanks again, all the best, Mark 👍🌲🌲.
I'm happy to hear that you're all good, and I hope that your operation will go well. Hope you come back with videos someday, we miss you !
Best wishes !

Hi Milenko, I hope you had a nice weekend 👍. Yes, I love the Ekelund axe. I have a few Hultafors axes. For the money I find them very good. Have a great week my friend, all the best, Mark 👍😀.
the camp is coming along nicely Mark, i went out on Sunday after work with a plan to camp for the night at a lochside and spend Monday fishing but I've never seen so many people camping it was incredible, i managed to find a quiet spot in a small copse on a hill the midges were brutal so i was mainly hammock bound but after a long day at work i was fine with that. fishing was ok couple of brown trout around the 1lb mark. take care Mark atb Colin
Enjoyed this Upload Mark, Camp is really taking shape. Another well made episode as always brother.

@@markbailey2981 Pleased to hear all is well with you 👍 Wishing you well with your new job.
Great to see you out Mark that camp is coming along great matey I do need to get myself into the woods soon I’ve missed it, ATVB Trev
