    About the head movement when attempting the backflip. Am I supposed to look towards the beach like the roll and then throw my head backwards or should I just hit the lip vertically and then throw my head back?

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  5 років тому +1

      You have to start the movement to flip with the head moving to the beach and then throw it straight back. The initial movement has to be out towards the beach first!

    Thanks for posting this instructional video Ian.
    Question. Could doing an el rollo be a way to start as an initial move towards doing a back flip ?
    Are there any exercises or stretches that can help with body movement ?

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  6 років тому +2

      I plan to work through all of the moves and next month will be putting out a back to basics video too. This will show all basic moves and techniques.
      I will also be bringing out movements, stretches and exercises that will help with bodyboarding in the future.
      Hope you understand that these take time but was being asked about the backflips first.

    Can you backflip on a trampoline or into water and does that transfer over the doing it on the boog?

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  Рік тому +1

      It’s a similar movement but it also very different. The best advice would be to take a board and try do the flips and land in the board on the trampoline. Start on your knees and advance from there.

    Great vid, thanks heaps. Can u please do an 'explained' on ars and how to differentiate from a backflip when landing. For backflip, you turn towards the beach but with ars you turn towards the wave... I use to be able to stick backflips and ars', but I use to cheat with ars by turning towards the beach and not completing the spin, then I retaught and now I just don't know how to turn towards the beach haha. Thanks again.

    Iain I have a question I can do follow and ars going left but I can’t do rolls or ars going right any suggestions to get better at doing tricks going right?

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  5 років тому

      All I can say is you need to ride more rights. Feel the motion of doing those moves and make sure your head and body follow that on the opposite side. It’s tricky at first but try the head movements out the water first. That way you train your body to just do them.

  • @Nikolaj_van_Rensburg
    @Nikolaj_van_Rensburg 6 років тому +1

    Why does the "x" position for your legs matter so much? Is the difference that big rather than just moving your legs up? I never cross my legs (when attempting a spin) because I always get a huge cramp.

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  6 років тому

      Keeping your legs crossed will stop your tail from digging in. It keeps your body in the center if the board instead of in the one side. Makes it easier to land moves.

    • @iaincampbell_

      Just go with the flow. Once you get the head backward motion the first few times then crossing the legs will be next. Got to just keep at it. Throwing your head back is the first thing, crossing your legs is next.

I try but my body is a little crossed, it does not go straight and my head tends to turn sideways not backwards as it should. In my opinion I have the ARS mechanized and the body does it by instinct. thanks for your tutorials greetings from Costa Rica. 🇨🇷
