Drilled two small holes, one for an inspection camera. Thanks for showing me the right place. Probably saved me a few hours.

Thanks so much. I have a good friend who is a genius at this JAG STUFF. I called him after watching your video and he said to do exactly what you did. Watched the vid one more time to get the "push forward motion" and it was done. It was my passenger side. I took my latch from the drivers side and removed the busing closed that one as well. My guy suggested silicone that sets up in the area where the bushing was to save the wire to metal contact. Thanks again!

Thank you for posting this awesome video I've been turning wrenches for 35 years and never had to get a jaguar hood open with a broken cable, you saved me a ton of time!!!! just one tip I can add disconnect the battery before you do it because on the passenger side The positive battery cable is right above where you're going to be drilling and you don't want to short out, I used a step drillbit it worked perfect thanks again

Thanks! I got my hood open in about an hour for everything. I tried for a while to open it through the hole to the left and to the back of where you drilled because it looks like that's what it's for, but drilling is the only way.

Right on the money, bro 2 and a 1/2 inches down and pop the hood. The cables get old and the plastic falls off the release.

Thanks for the video. The cable came off the lever on the passenger side. The cable originally had a plastic grommet to keep the ball from pulling through...not a great design. Also, be sure to warn viewers that there is a big 12 volt cable right behind where you need to drill the access hole on the passenger side. Disconnect the battery would be good advice. Thanks, brother , for the help...

Thanks for the vid, I used a hole saw to make a larger hole, and the cable had just fell out so I clamped the ends where the cable goes with a pair of pliers. Saved my day 04/23/2017

I drilled a single 1/4” hole, 2.5” or so below the existing hole for the inner fender well trim tab. Within 20 seconds I had the latch releasedmonnthenpassenger side using a long, thin regular blade screwdriver.
To cover the hole? Either just touch up paint, or pack it with grease and cover with a 1” bandaid type square of foil tape on each side or maybe a blob of black rtv on each side.
The issue? The ball end of the latch cable slipped out of the ‘fork’ it rides in. PITA

+Marcus Purnell No problem! After searching high and low on UA-cam for a video with this common problem and having no luck. I decided to make my own video!

we just tried your instructions on your video. Thank you it opened. BUT beware an electrical wire (the main power to brain) was in the area and we got sparks when we went in with the screwdriver. Advise to unplug battery first. checking now to be sure no damage was done by sparks.....

I had this same problem as the cable slipped out of the latch on the passenger side. (USA Model) I ended up squeezing the latch where the cable comes through so that it cannot pop out. Thanks loads for the video.

Thanks for the video on the passenger's side. The driver's side can actually be accessed through the firewall, there's a grommet that pops out and then you can get to the latch with a long screwdriver.

That is correct but to have the holes pre-drilled is ok too as it's a lot easier if you ever had to do it again... which hopefully won't happen!!

Once I pulled the metal ball back to where it goes in front of the catch I closed it completely with a plier to make sure the ball doesn't jump off again!

Listen to the video, the hole on the right that I drilled (the bigger one, looks like a tear into the fender) is the correct one. the small round hole above it is where one of the clips for the wheel inner liner goes and measure about 2.5 inches below that and drill there, stick in a flathead screwdriver and push rearward, this should open the latch...... PLEASE DISCONNECT THE BATTERY IN THE TRUNK BEFORE DOING ALL THIS WORK
