Volvo XC90 Blower Resistor Motor Replacement Part 2
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
Here's the 2nd part of the removal process of the blower motor/resistor for a Volvo XC90. I had to remove the rubber insulation material around the blower motor to have it seat properly again. It took most of my time putting the blower back in it's place because of this. Totals labor time was about 4 hours. Not too bad really!

Many thanks! Saved me alot of headaches. Same thing happened to my 1999 XJ8L driver side. Measured exactly 2.5 inches below the fastener hole. Used step drill to make half inch hole. Got the hood open. For the repair, soldered a small PC board with a slot for the cable. Fixed the passenger side also. It was also about to fall off.
After watching this I went out in the garage and tested mine and it had the same issue. Thanks for the video…. I’m about to fix mine the same way
Beautiful colour. Still own it?
Very nice. So simple and straightforward. Thanks for sharing.
Does the information stay the same like your miles not the new cluster miles
With sincere thanks from Oxford, England for this superb video, which was crucial in helping me switch out the drivers side passenger actuator on my 06 9-3 this afternoon. Couldn’t have done it without you!! Only slight difficultly I had was at the very end - getting the final bit of external window seal back on. There’s a tricky bit in the rear-most corner of the window where one bit needs to be teased under the other. Apart from that it worked a treat! Thanks again.
always glad to help!
Bolt thread size on the balancer ?
Pointless video.
you are pointless sir.
Thanks man- this is Gold! 😜 Having an issue on my 1980 BMW- the headlight switch - hope this l fixes
❤
WHERE DID U BUY UR FAN IS THE CONNECTOR THE SAME AS OEM?
Honestly i would of never thought of doing this and how easy this is, thanks man
I drilled a single 1/4” hole, 2.5” or so below the existing hole for the inner fender well trim tab. Within 20 seconds I had the latch releasedmonnthenpassenger side using a long, thin regular blade screwdriver. To cover the hole? Either just touch up paint, or pack it with grease and cover with a 1” bandaid type square of foil tape on each side or maybe a blob of black rtv on each side. The issue? The ball end of the latch cable slipped out of the ‘fork’ it rides in. PITA
Great video
there is no need to remove or unplug anything but the cover at the very top. i just replaced mine 2015 cadillac ats 2.0 and fan came out just with one hand move lines around and with the other pull and it will come out and in with no issues
Right on the money, bro 2 and a 1/2 inches down and pop the hood. The cables get old and the plastic falls off the release.
Yes this did the job I now have a/c out the vents again, And the little hose I changed fell apart in my fingers. Thank you so much !
How do you get the cooling fan module off there are 0 videos on it and we cannot get ours off period an a lil tab thing broke off so we're having a batching time getting it off an 0 success
Trying this now and having no success getting the old one out. You mentioned removing that tab w a dremel or saw and I did that one the new one but there is clearly no way to do this on the old one while it is in the car, so I assume you were able to get it out with it still on?
Anyone? My next thought is to remove the "charge" pipe to get some clearance yanking the thing out of there but I don't see how that comes off either. Doing a search I *think* you rotate it counter clockwise? Can anyone offer advice?
Well to give myself as much room as possible I was able to remove the charge pipe (there is a metal sleeve/ring that needs to be moved counter-clockwise slightly). Also removed the intake on the right hand side (facing the engine bay). Despite that.... It was impossible (at least for me) to wrestle the fan out of there. In the process of trying I managed to damage the radiator :( So gave up and took it to the dealer down the road to replace the radiator (and the new fan of course now in the back seat). Total damage $1802.00, not including the fan I bought :(
Don't remove the window etc!!!! You can easily remove the doorhandle and remove the broken lock from there and replace it. Way more easy!!
Removing “easily” the doorhandle is no such thing, but yes-, it can be done. Very good tip 👌
What type of compressor to condenser connector hose is that ? Do you have part number for discharge/ suction hose ?
Once you remove the pin does the line just come out
how munch does it cost rebuilt motors and windows swtiches
I have an 2007 Saab 9-3 2.0T it cranks but no start starts with starter fluid. Got it scanned got code “P0725” engine speed input circuit” what do I have to replace? Speed sensor, CPS? help.
It could be fuel pump as it starts with starting fluid
thank you, this helped me fix mine.
thank you
I’m just guessing: Open the door and the window goes down slightly. Close the door and the window goes back up. These doors have no frames around the glass, so I’m guessing this window drop feature helps the window glass and the weatherstripping on the roof (or convertible top) to seal properly. I love old Lincolns!
yes it was to clear the overlapping weatherstripping of the front doors and also to clear the top frame.
Nice. If only I had a removable panel on the 70s cars. Damn hands are too big to fit in there AND see lol
This is where ladies or children’s hands sometimes come in handy! When I was a little kid in the early 1970s I loved to hang out with my dad. He was a mechanic for Mohawk Airlines, but also worked on small private airplanes and was always tinkering on old cars that he’d buy, repair, and resell. More than a few times my little fingers fit into places that his big man hands didn’t. Those were the good old days.
@@CH67guy1 Nice. Yeah, I started off on aircraft too...and its funny that I was the guy that they always send to replace lightbulbs in the lower lobes in front of the dog house (where the nose gear sits when up). Im 6'5 and 200lbs...I would have to take my boots off to come back out of there! Good times indeed.
would that cause to be a leak in freon?
I normally don’t comment, but I had to for this one. Thank you a ton for posting this! Saved me a good 4 hours of time. Definitely appreciate it. God bless you!
Best video on this problem on UA-cam! Many thx!
Hello i have a question . Does the saab have another resistor in the other side of the driver ?
no only the passenger side
Долбаёб разговаривать не умеешь???
Which one of those solenoids is the torque converter clutch solenoid? Mine has failed and I need to replace it
If you're looking at the valve body the "SLU" the Torque Converter Lock up Solenoid is the one on the bottom left side it mounts in from the side. Hope this helps
@@dgoldman2846 thank you for replying. I'm glad you clarified because I was under thr impression it was the one of the 3 big solenoids on top
Awesome, thank you
Even though I grew up under the hood of a vehicle, I've owned over 40 cars and I am a DIY guy, I always come check UA-cam before I work on that SRX in my garage, to determine whether it's a job I want to take on or whether it's something I'll want to pay someone else to do. I would have taken on this job either way, but I'm liking the shortcut version much better. Another upload used a rotary tool, and I have a cordless one handy.
great video getting mine done this week. bench tested the fan and it craps out after a few minutes. edit: i replaced it and the plastic tab on bottom driver side has to go. i melted it off with a red hot knife from under the car. you also have to remove the upper radiator hose because of the 1 1/2 in radiator nozzle sticking out. remove plastic under covers. its fine because you get to flush your radiator fluid which has probably burnt up with ur problems. fluid drians from the bottom from a spigot. i used exactly 1 bottle of coolant. plus when you put the trans hose back clip goes first then push hose thru. dont try to force clip on hose.
I didn't have to remove or drain the radiator but that's fine/ I know the new radiator fan assembly was not 100% same as the original so yes, I do believe there was a tab I had to cut off with a cutting wheel. but after that it fit perfectly
really nice video. short and to the point. excellent job.
Thanks, no need to overcomplicate things. Just get it done!
Thank you
Thank you, this was very helpful. I was wondering why they ran the vacuum line through there like that. I'd bypass the whole routine and replace the line if I knew where the end point was.
Thanks man, with the power steering pump out of the way I can see it clearly now. You got me out of shits creek!
Got this problem on my instrument lights dimmer on my aircraft. Good fix and finally a straight answer, I got nothing from terminal to terminal but the wire works fine for me, thanks
Just cut and splice the wires . No pulling with pliers through the firewall . Much much easier . 30 mins Vs 2 hours . Simple
Assuming you disconnected battery first? I might try this.
I was just thinking the same.. Just replaced the blower motor thinking that was broken(might have been anyway) but can't face pulling all that up again... Definitely just going to spice it.
Where does the main vacuum line connect into? Please ,ty.
How you know cooling fan not working ?my cooling fan turns on but then after a while stops on my 2014 Cadillac ATS 2.0 and starts overheating I took it out and jump it straight and it works fine it spins can you help determine what the problem could be I already replace thermostat and ac pressure switch thanks
It may be the fan controller the one attached to the fan housing. Try that first. They are a common failure point
You mean the cooling fan module the one that looks like a square box ?
Yes with a connector on each side
Thank you
@@gallo5921 was it the fan control module? I'm having same issue. Overheating at the light , cuz the fan don't come on.
I've just fixed this on my '02 Aero by cutting the controller off the harness, replacing the transistor inside (IRFP054, $6) and reinstalling with connectors on the wires. There are two 10ga wires, power/ground, that I rewired with large bullet connectors while I used a 3pin connector on the three 18ga control wires. If you have all the parts (transistor, connectors, soldering iron, heat shrink) it can be done in a couple hours without getting your hands dirty. I only opened the hood to d/c the battery - the circuits are LIVE with key out.
Omg wit the camera😵💫
LOL i'm terrible with the phone camera!!! and haven't figured out how to have youtube correct it if that's even possible!!! Sorry for the bad camera angles!
Thank you for kindly replying regarding Part 1! Have 2004 Saab 95 Aero 2.3t - seems resistor is in different location on driver’s side? Can’t really see it but is this possible location for this particular model?
I am bot sure as 2004 was previous model. should still be located in same general area I would imagine
@Tarja Taylor Did you find the location of the resistor for your 2004 9-5 Aero? I have the same year and model. Thanks!
Where can I watch video for Part #1?
