One of the most unique things about Pink Floyd is that even though there are lyrics, the music is so emotional, reflective, and thought provoking, your mind's ear will write your own personal lyrics... timeless and current at the same time.
The wall is the figurative, psychological wall one erects to protect oneself from hurt, resulting pretty much in isolation. For a little more insight check out "When the Tigers Broke Free" and "Mother. And for an all live live stream, pretty much anything ( or everything) from the Pulse concert, 1994 would be remarkable. Talk about going om a journey. When it's over you just kind of look around and say "I can't believe we never left".
When the Tigers Broke Free is one my favorite Floyd songs, and the fact that it was left off the album is mind-blowing. It's not a fancy Floyd song, but Roger's delivery of the powerful and plain-spoken lyrics is chilling. No fancy and frilly metaphor, just cold and bitter disdain for the people who 'took his daddy away' from him.
Thank you for this great reaction. Pink Floyd is a British group, almost all of their songs are about either personal feelings towards 'ruling powers' or personal experiences and that makes the lyrics relatable, when you toss in their phenomenal talent, their music is always an awesome experience.
When I first heard Pink Floyd I couldn't appreciate it and couldn't really get into a lot of it, in the last few years via reaction channels, I've come to appreciate them more and their sound. A very important band in the history of rock music for sure.
Growing up in the 70s I thought music would always be this great. There were few duds on the airwaves. It's only in retrospect that I realize how good we had it.
@@jackiesueann3476 I’ve tried to no avail to find it on streaming services. Unfortunately the only place I can find it is for dvd purchase. You got it in 1 , it is an eargasm ! Really jealous that this was your 1st time you listened to it ! I've been listening to pink floyd for over 20 years and they still give me goosebumps ! David gilmour is the guitarist GOD ! ✌🏽
This might be one of the most beautiful songs you have ever heard in your life, and this might be one of the best reactions to it that I've ever seen in my life! Brilliant, on both counts.
For years, after he left Pink Floyd, Roger Waters said he wouldn’t perform “The Wall” until the Berlin Wall came down. The summer after the wall came down he organized a star-studded performance of the full album at the site of the wall in Berlin. I have a VHS of that performance, which was a fundraiser for the UK’s equivalent to Wounded Warriors.
I mean, "for years"... it came down less than four years after he left :p I know that technically fits what you said, but the way you said it made it seem like it was many more years than that :p
Very unlikely. Roger Waters father was a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain, and he describes himself as a socialist. The album had nothing to do with the Berlin Wall.
So many of us life long Pink Floyd lovers have shared with all of the UA-cam reactors that Pink Floyd built their albums to be experienced from beginning to end. THE WHOLE ALBUM AT ONCE 👀 A Pink Floyd live stream would be a great venue for that! 😊 🎶 ❤
Listen to Mother, Learning To Fly and Another Brick in the Wall and Wish You Were Here!!!!! Awesome music been loving Floyd for 50 years‼️ Pink Floyd are from the UK!
Yes Roger grew up in post-war England. They were bombed by the German Blitzkreig and when he grew up they were recovering from that. A very PTSD society. Their neighbor France just across the river was occupied by Nazi forces. So his childhood , his over-protective mother, his terrible teachers etc all helped to create his wall. His withdrawal from normal social life.
When this album came out ,I listened to it every day for at least a year.My memories of high school consist of Pink floyd, Black Sabbath, and Colombian pot.
The Wall is so touching because I too lost my father at 15, and definitely have built a wall ever since. It helped me realize this and that I definitely need to open up to people before it’s too late.
If I can please say that Tasha you have been definitely blessed with a beautiful smile and great personality... And you sir are a very lucky man. I hope I haven't over stepped with my comment. Thank you for all you do. You guys are the best! 👍👏👏👏💕💕💕
First time watching you two. You both are cool and I love it! 😆 I'm a new Pink Floyd fan in the ladt 3 years after I joined a Pink Floyd Tribute band after almost 50 years in cover bands. The music and everything they do is magical!
T - YOU GOT IT!! So many reactors try to rush through a Pink Floyd song. YOU CAN'T. You gotta lean back, close your eyes, & take in the album as a whole. It completes a whole story & picture!
Hi, TNT and hello from Australia, i first saw you two reacting to AC/DC who i grew up listening to on the radio. i saw your reaction to Comfortably Numb, everything you said i totally agree with, i flew from Australia just to see the PULSE concert. i started listening to Pink Floyd in the early 70s, if it wasn't for their song, "wish you were here" i wouldn't have picked up a guitar. i now can play most of their stuff on a 6 string acoustic. but use a 12 string acoustic just for "wish you were here"
I grew up listening to Pink Floyd, but only one or two songs. This is the first song I’ve listen to from them and paid attention to. I think it was very beautiful and very peaceful. I may have to check out more Pink Floyd… Even though I’m a country fan! 😂
Just remember, the album this song is on, "The Wall" tells a whole story, so just listening to this song you might not understand the lyrics because you do not know the context it is written in. Just wanted to explain that in case you were not aware.
You will not be sorry when you dive into this band! Never met a person who didn’t like Pink Floyd. From Rap, Country, R&B, even Classical. A great song to start your journey would be Shine on you crazy diamond. The song and basically the whole Wish you were here album is written about Sid Barrett. He was the lead guitarist and founding member who went on to many acid trips and suffers from schizophrenia. He was institutionalized, but was able to get out once in awhile. So he ended up in the studio when they were recording this album and no one recognized him for awhile. He had shaved his head and eyebrows. Enjoy! Oh shine on you crazy diamond 1-5. Also one of my favs. Is “Time” also a great listen!
Great video y’all, so refreshing to see black folks warming up to the all time greatness of Pink Floyd. I lived w/ a couple black guys in my 20’s and I never could get them to warm up to it. I was/am a huge rap fan so we had that in common as well, but there’s nothing else out there in music history like Pink Floyd. Watch the entire movie and it will bring feelings within you that you never knew were there, their entire catalog is mesmerizing, new follower for sure, will look for the livestream 🙌👍🏼
One of Britains finest bands. The instrumental part of this song gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. No other British band can live up to the elite standard of Pink Floyd, they’re in their own division of brilliance.
Lotsa Pink Floyd songs from a dozen albums of continuously melding music one song into another. Original audio, some favorites are: "Echoes", from the Meddle album (the cut from Echoes: the best of PF album, is minus 7 minutes in the middle), is the original 23 minutes of deep sonic hypnosis from 1971, "Dogs" from Animals (1977), and "Obscured by Clouds" and "When You're In..." together, from the La Valee (1972) movie soundtrack (AKA Obscured by Clouds), and "Comfortably Numb" from the Pulse live concert (1994), the first 3 come to mind. Every PF song and album are sound and music adventures!
A couple of albums worth livestreaming to: Dark Side of the Moon and Animals. Don't forget their early years, they have some phenomenal recordings going all the way into the 60's.
I highly recommend you watch their film The Wall! The album is entirely in the film. It is dark and disturbing, but I think it reflects life. Masterpiece in my opinion. I'm a moderate Floyd fan, btw. They're like my 200th fav band
Love you guys! Both of your reactions sum up my exact feelings for this song. T, your wide eyes and smile is one side of my brain thinking this is so incredible and Tasha with her eyes closed and vibing and feeling it is the complete other side. Keep it up guys!
As beautiful as this album is written, it can play heavy on the heart and mind. All Floyd's albums will take you on a journey. If you were to do a live stream, pick an album and listen to it in it's entirety, that way you'll get a better understand of each track.
To me ,the the most powerful line in the song , " Don't help them to bury the light ." Our problem is that there are too many out there who are trying to bury the light . The light of equal rights , equal justice and human dignity . If we stand united , we have a chance of stopping them. We must show them they are their own worst enemy.
if i'm not mistaken in an interview it was actually stated that that line was reflecting the idea of pink (the narrator/main character) sort of projecting himself as a Christ like figure; a rock and roll demigod of sorts as he slipped into delusion
Not to mention these songs are 43 yrs old and others going back to 68'.They will be as timeless as Beethoven,Mozart and the other greats.Ive been listening for 45yrs.My first Floyd song was Pigs.I was around 12 riding with my older sister and blazing!I've been watching reaction vids for a couple hours now.It just won't wear the fuck out!
Nick Mason, the Drummer of Pink Floyd, put together a band a few years ago. They tour and play early Floyd stuff, up to the album Meddle. Look for "Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets", Live at the Roundhouse. They are all good, but my faves are "Fearless" and "Green is the Color".
Amazing reaction! I love seeing your experience for the first times with Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is a journey and i would suggest a masterpiece for your live Pink Floyd stream...Animals album!!! Those who know here, know that Animals is where they really found thier sound (post DSOTM & WYWH ALBUMS) right before The Wall was released. Love the journey you are taking ME on. It is like falling in love with Pink Floyd all over again...
The Wall is simply an out of this world experience I would seriously recommend checking out the whole album front to back! Hey You is my favourite track on the album so it's great to see a reaction on it! Great work as always guys
When this came out I would listen to this front to back with headphones LOUD. The Movie is a MUST watch for you now if you want the entire story. (You won't need drugs but it won't hurt) 😎 Happy belated 4/20+
Watching the MOVIE "The Wall" will bring most, but not all, of these songs from this album into context. BUT, I strongly encourage you to listen to the album, start to finish, first. Then listen again with a copy of the lyrics. And finally watch the movie. That way you get three distinct and differing journeys out of it. You will find your own meanings and insert your own context for each track, most of which transition into the next with no breaks. Then, when you watch the movie, you will get a bunch of, "Oh...... that's what it's about." moments. I strongly recommend a fourth listen in a recliner in a very dark room with your favorite alcoholic beverage or other relaxing method.
Great reaction! But careful when you go live because people will tell you to go to the best first. DON'T be tempted. Go with, say "One of These Days" Live Pulse 1994 - it has no sung lines, only a single spoken line. Then maybe "Time" or "Money" then "Another Brick in the Wall Part 2". Save Comfortably Numb, Sorrow, and Run Like Hell for last (of the Live). Peace from Canada.
So I just come across your channel and subscribed OTS simple because you got Floyd.Being a Floydian myself for 45 yrs I got to have my Floyd fix.Watching first reactions gives that because it's like I'm somewhat hearing it the first time with you..There are so many good ones.Pay close attention to specific takes on certian songs that are suggested.Such as comfortably numb should be off of the Pulse Live',while One of these days should be from the Delicate sound of Thunder', Live.
Pink Floyd albums are basically concept/theme albums. Each song is a build up or continuation of the previous song. Would be great for a live reaction.
It's hard to pull out a favourite *song* from Floyd but, if pushed, I would go with either "Time" or "The Great Gig in the Sky" although they are both elevated by being preceded/followed by the other on the album.
Maybe just for yourself, listen to The Wall in its entirety - from start to finish. It's a musical epic/story of Pink, from childhood, through adolescence and his career with all its troubles. The story is somewhat inspired by the life experiences of Roger Waters (bassist and main songwriter of the band). The song Hey You is just one piece of the story. Listen to the whole thing and then you'll find out how powerful this work actually is... I love pretty much everything Pink Floyd created, at different times in my life the priorities of the songs change but if I had to pick the best for me and for you to be inspired to respond, it would probably be "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from the 1975 album Wish You Were Here. It is (in my opinion) one of the best pieces of music in the history of modern music. If you haven't heard it yet, I recommend the studio version for a first listen, ideally with the original animated music video. If you read up on the track beforehand, your listening experience will be all the more enhanced. It's moving and beautiful. It's notable that Waters and Gilmour (formerly Barrett) are always cited as the main Pink Floyd composers but I think the best stuff was composed by Rick Wright (keyboardist). He's a bit neglected but he's the writer of some of the most gorgeous and powerful songs. Excuse my English - I'm from the Czech Republic.
When it comes to the wall album. You really have to listen to the whole thing from beginning to end. Then and most importantly, watch the movie from Pink Floyd 😁
great reaction. The live Pulse concert remastered 2019 is awesome, as you discovered with Comfortably Numb...however EVERY song is dope; the whole production is spot on: SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND (opening concert sax), KEEP TALKING (voice box), SORROW (awesome solo better than Comfortably Numb imo) ONE OF THESE DAYS (flat pedal steel all instrumental and crazy) and RUN LIKE HELL (their encore closure). Even after perhaps listening to the studio versions of Money and Another Brick in the Wall, the live versions are extensions like the live Comfortably Numb was....can't wait to see you react to those as well!
It would be so cool to see you react to this whole album, its a concept record and the whole thing is a story. I don't know if that's even a possibility but I'm here for it! I Always enjoy your reactions.
Pink Floyd is the PERFECT band. They have countless MASTERPIECES to choose from
I feel like this About The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, and Genesis
Pink Floyd is a masterpiece on it's selfs

Excuse your English ? Your grammar and spelling is spot on lol .
@@pauldocmusic2411 Thanks, but my very poor English was helped by "Deepl Translator" :-).
@@lubos1207 cool mate , at least you learned a different language. In the UK there is an arrogance and reluctance to do the same
@@pauldocmusic2411 A sad picture of the good old UK :-(.
Pink Floyd puts youy in the mood they want you to be in. Every intro
When it comes to the wall album. You really have to listen to the whole thing from beginning to end. Then and most importantly, watch the movie from Pink Floyd 😁
Luv this song ❤️
I love this song and just think it only gets better with each song, that's a fact
great reaction.
Please listen to the live concert version of PF's, On The Turning Away. Absolutely brilliant and beautiful.
And some is so simple while being so deep. From Dark Side of the Moon try, Eclipse.
It would be so cool to see you react to this whole album, its a concept record and the whole thing is a story. I don't know if that's even a possibility but I'm here for it! I Always enjoy your reactions.
