Thanks for taking us along. The carpet was so beautiful, I can’t believe no one wanted it. So many beautiful items, most out of my budget but, it’s still fun to experience an auction full of so many amazing things.
@@normamurray4450 not so sure: brat & rat. I admire Ed immensely for his talents and intelligence. This blog is fascinating. I grew up in a historic home and have restored older homes. My mom was an antiques dealer and I'm a designer so their endeavors and talents are appreciated. My impression is Ed doesn't allow Anna equal partnership (gives a little but he prioritizes the decisions and money). Frankly it's none of my business, it's their marriage. I like both of them and the vlog is wonderful.
Anna, I subscribed today because I think you are such a genuine, lovely lady. You are so kind and considerate of others. These qualities make your vlogs really enjoyable. Thank you and wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas from Australia 💗
Lovely video. We are so amazed at the prices for such nice pieces being so low as compared to the US. Glad you got some chairs Anna. That little corner chair was sweet. Really liked the library steps, the daybed and of course those massive armoires. Hope you do more of these videos, even if they are a lot of editing work for you Anna. You do a great job btw. Enjoy your purchases.
Thank you for taking us along. So fun BUT, The library steps.. LOVE ! ! ! 80€ great price.... I would have snapped it up. Commode fabulous! Pink & blue picture is so wonderful. but the Hendriks frame alone certainly could be worth 1000€, no? Much luv from Ohio
Really enjoyed a peak into auction house there in France. Considering that I'm in the US, it's very interesting to consider costs/age of the pieces. I'm on the hunt for an old persian rug, and I find that rugs are often discarded here. fingers cross I get lucky! Congrats on the chairs, you two have made lovely refurbished/reupholstery projects before. Keep up the happy spirit : )
Loved this vlog! Very interesting to see the prices. Just FYI, Erard pianos are marketed as "the finest pianos in the world" and old, rare or art-case examples are worth 10s of thousands of USD (Chopin owned an Erard). The one you looked at is from the 1920s and would retail, unrestored for about €10,000. @8:20 this is not a desk it is a mid-19th-century English dressing table without its mirror, which is, I think, why they placed the beautiful 18th-century mirror where the original would have been. If it was a writing desk it would have had a writing surface probably made of inlaid leather. The drawer stacks, either side, was a common design feature and the support brackets for the mirror would have been attached to the top of each stack.
@@maynardgreenhouse Yes, I agree. 😀 The prices seemed very reasonable. I even think the auction prices for the two equestrian paintings were very reasonable considering the quality of both the paintings & the beautiful frames.
Great video. I’m jealous of French armoire prices. I paid 1,200 dollars for a double walnut one 35 years ago.you have amazing prices there. Low inventory here. Ohio USA
Thank you for taking us along to the French auction. Id have snapped up the carpet. It would make a great piece in an entrance room under a beautiful chandelier.
That was fun. Merci! It’s amazing the prices for items depending on the venue. I love the paintings with countryside scenes, marquetry wood furniture, and burl wood furniture. So many other beautiful pieces. I’m in the states (middle east coast) and was shocked at how cheap furniture and chandeliers went for at a Los Angeles brocante (Vloger video) compared to here.
Interesting pricing for some real period pieces. Helps to know the values and to follow. Rug was and probably still is worth what it was to someone however not worth buying to find out. Investment piece perhaps. Relaxing day to compare unique auction listings. Entertaining Sunday Vlog! Dig the accent on the Auctioneer!
Fantastic video, you two!! Loved every second of it!! Please make more vids like this!! Thanks soooooo much for sharing!! Love from the snowy forests of Norway!!
One thing that amazes me about any of the furniture pieces you show at the brocantes are at an amazing price. Here in the US if you go to an antique furniture store they have a price about three or four times higher than you have on them in France. But our paintings are cheaper over here than what they sell for over there. We are so sad that you move have to sell your home. It is so beautiful. We are praying there will be a way that you will be able to keep it. Love your videos.
This video was really fascinating. We were introduced to such beautiful pieces of history. Then, we were surprised at the auction values and sales. 'Glad that Anna found a few bargains that she liked.
Oh my comparable furniture like that here in the US would go for 10 times those prices. Brand new armoires from Pottery barn and restoration hardware go for 3k+ and lack style. You are so lucky to live in a land of exquisite home interiors. Yes please more of these auction and brocante videos
Great video! I saw so many beautiful things. You did a wonderful job on the entire edit Anna. I’m glad I wasn’t there, I’d be broke! You put so much work x effort into this auction, thank you!
That was a fantastic video. Thanks for filming it, Educational and fun in one. I was also pleasantly pleased, to not watch Edd breaking his back with concrete pouring. It was nice to see him stand straight and get a rest-lol Merry Christmas Anna, Edd and Family. Wishing you a healthy, happy and prosperous, New Year. Cheers!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Sure learnt a lot, love all the information talking about the pieces so interesting & fun! Thanks Edd & Anna!!!❤️🇨🇦
That was a beautiful commode that you showed us. If you love something and it's not in fashion; get all of it that you love and need because it will be cheap. Sometime down the road it will be in fashion again and everything will be more expensive.
What a fun vlog - So interesting and amazing how the prices vary depending on who's attending or what they're looking for . Thanks for taking us along Ed and Anna. You're such fun!! xx
Great video. Absolutely love French auctions. But the ones I used to go to were much lower prices. My friend went to a house auction & bought a whole room for €8.
So glad you got the wee chair . Really enjoyed spending time doing something a bit different with you guys. Personally don’t know much about auctions. Thankyou blessings to you and yours Ontario Canada 🐝
That was fun to watch. I have never been to a auction before. Bummer on those armors they were all beautiful. I would love ❤️ one of those for our 5 acre farm in Michigan. But this biggest bummer you should have bidded on that rug. It was so stunning. It looked like someone's eyes behind a masque..Great Job.
I loved those two horse paintings! I’m so happy Anna got something. She does so much so she deserves to buy something she likes. But Edd, I was hoping you could get at least one of the horse paintings. Maybe in your brocante visits you will find an exceptional painting hiding behind some furniture at a very cheap price. I love searching for hidden treasures in antique stores. Fun video!! Hope you both had time for a nice lunch at a cafe! 💕💕💕
Edd,thanks for taking on this outing!! I spent a lot of "Imaginary Chateau" money. My "Imaginary Chateau" is looking better today!!! Merry Christmas from Vermont
I love going to auctions. Haven’t been in many years. Good for you Anna getting the chairs! I was hoping you all would buy the carpet. So many beautiful colors in it! You guys are so fun!
That is a beautiful and really reasonably priced, silk Persian carpet made in tabriz. Tabriz is very well known as the world centre of carpet weaving. Tabriz rugs usually have ivory backgrounds with blue, rose, and indigo motifs. They often feature symmetrical and balanced designs. They usually have a single medallion that is surrounded by vines and palmettos. The good rug is valued by its weaving style and the number of the knots that used in the weaving. Silk rugs usually very expensive and most of the time they are hanged on the walls like tapestries. And that is not a signature, it is the name of the style (old cherbani).
