Wow! This was such a treat. So many beautiful glass pieces, plus the narration from The Best! George, it's like going to a museum and having my own private museum docent. Thank you so much.
Oh, my! When you pick up fragile items, especially larger lidded items with one hand, I cringe with the thought that you might drop one. I breathe a sigh of relief when you set them down safely. 😆The former owner of this home had many lovely items!
@@elderlypoodle9181Nor do I! George has handled pieces like these a thousand times or more and knows with precision how much and from which side and angle the various styles and manufacturers' pieces can take pressure.
OMGosh, this mansion and the beautiful collections are beyond amazing. I need to watch again , it was so exciting I loved her wall coloring and furniture.
An estate in our town (Lenox MA) was originally owned by the Fahnstock (sp) famiky. It became a vacation resort (Eastover) and was where my dad was a chef, where I worked and met My future husband.
Have you ever been to the Birmingham AL Art Museum? They have a massive collection and display of Wedgewood- including an entire room with wedgwood ceramic walls! Seeing that made me start appreciating wedgewood pottery more!
03:45: Forget all the gargantuan Wedgewood and pier mirrors: I want that beautiful drawing of the afghan hound! 😂ETA: Spoke too soon, just got to 04:25 😍(and AGAIN, 10:41 OMGGG) - I always knew I had expensive tastes !!! 😁
Good evening, George! That house is fantastic! What kind of lamp was the stained glass one that looked a bit like a weeping willow? I liked it! Those amphora were spectacular! Loved the Royal Dux busts! Geez! Everything there was absolutely splendid! There were excruciatingly few things that didn't fit my tastes. It was actually a bit overwhelming...no way to keep up with all of it. Thanks for the tour!
The weeping willow is a newer take on an old Tiffany pattern. That house! The amphora and Dux busts were tremendous, everything was very nice in the way I remember collections in similarly appointed homes I saw early in my career. I knew you would like it all, the big danger is that they might get the auction and then we'll all be broke together!
Very impressive pieces of blue chintz, but I was drawn to the lovely lady in the 'peach' room suspended over the marble pedestal, or was that an ornate ashtray? (3:19 mark) Loved the petite look of the Cameo pattern of dishes (23min mark) The colorful Moorcroft vase was gorgeous!! Thanks for the awesome tour George!!
That was something I meant to go back and see closer! I believe it was a 30 year old deco revival statue, and she really was fantastic. The Cameo pattern is part of what set Rosenthal apart in their early years. I love that Moorcroft every time I see it
Amazing home! 1890’s or 1990’s items…all are beautiful and classically displayed. The previous owner must have been meticulous in selecting these treasures…and the mirrors, although large, are quite delicate. Thank you for naming and giving us the history on the items.
I’ve watched all three videos from CLL to the Berber Brothers YT and enjoyed each one of them. You have such interesting knowledge and history of so many companies. Product knowledge is so important to buy and selling antiques in my opinion.
I watched all 3 videos that you 3 did of this mansion, and they are completely different. You show a lot of pieces not seen in the others. I really enjoy seeing all the dishes/china. Quite exquisite collections throughout the home. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Thank you Professor. Your tour and descriptions were so interesting and educational. I thought I loved the Moorcroft the best (I bought my first piece from you), until you got to the Mailing, Cameo and the many other beautiful English pieces. I can’t wait to follow the auction for these items! 9a
You might dispute me on this but I think the reason Wedgewood is not so popular is because in all actuality it really doesn't fit anywhere. I have a small which would try that my mother gave to me after a trip to england. Not worth much but when I put it in with a grouping of some of my pretty things it really doesn't fit.
Oh, what a wonderful video. Such amazing and gorgeous items. Total eye candy. George, you were very brave to pick up that china and glassware -- I would have been terrified to touch most of it. I would be very curious to know what prices they get for all of the china sets.
I will be too, I hope they get this one and we can all see it together! I have handled so many things in my time, the only ones that really scare me are applied flowers, they break when you breathe on them!
I have some of that furniture (original dates not repro) ,and a lot of those pieces its such a shame as we get old and know that our lifes passion is going to be "given away"to auctions if we are lucky.
George, would you like to have a mansion like this and keep all of the treasures that you find from everywhere? Maybe make it a museum? Just wondering ?❣️
George: Silesia isn't Germany. It's POLAND. It was the part Prussia stole in the 1790s and there were a lot of German-speakers, but in 1919 the Germans gave it back. (my Polish grandfather would crawl out of his grave and chase me if I let that one go by.) I found a what was formerly a nice piece of Herend at an estate sale that was lacework. Unfortunately someone handling it before me wasn't too careful. Darnitt darnitt darnitt.
@@TheAntiqueNomad I meant to say without property taxes ever. Lol. It's great but it's too much house for me. If my daughter and grandchildren would come with me, I would consider it. I love the porcelain greyhounds, by the way.. The thing with Berners is their whopping buyers premium! If you absentee bid there is a fee for that, ends up being about 25%! then taxes and shipping. They seem like nice people. Just saying. Proceed with caution.
Yes, and the Czechs have a different name for their country now too. A lot of what we find from there is from the era when it was still one country so I use Czechoslovakia as the name for such things

He knows how to handle glass, unlike some resellers who pick up glass at the weakness point. It make me anxios. Lol.
So beautiful fun to watch ❤California
I think we all see several things we would like to own! The bad part is I would probably need a house that big to own them all!
True and true
Okra glass possibly, or Mdina on the Lustre Glass
Beautiful home and lots of treasures to be found. How many rooms are in that mansion?
I didn't count, but around 12-15. They were all quite large.
I have a very very tall Royal Heager grey pitcher with a huge handle. I bought it at auction years ago. I wonder what it is worth.
You always say Czechoslovakia but the two countries are now separate. It is Czech Republic ( for friends now Chechia) and Slovakia. 😊

Nope! I am a fast typist and I do it all myself. Seriously.

The knife box is regency
As a greyhound rescuer, I'd love to have that piece in my collection. How much do you think it's worth?
Royal also means that all porcelain is owned by the crown..... earth from their land.....it is what I heard once is it true???
french provincial, earl edwardian, and more ... seems like a sothebys catalogue ...
Belleek (the real kind) is made in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. That's pronounced "Fer-man-agh." :)
The French maker of the vase is pronounced" D'Argentoy" with a hard g.
Thank you! I have so much trouble with French pronunciation
