The president Washington is a great rig with many features. One of my favorite features is temperature controlled cooling fan operation. President sells a nice fan kit however I understand that they are not readily available at this time. ( July 2024 ) So I decided to make my own fan kit. If you are fairly handy this little project will only take a few minutes to do. After filming I did put a dab of E6000 glue on the terminals and on the channel that is provided for running the wires into the rig.
I used just a "dab" of glue so I can take the non OEM fans off and use OEM fan kit if I decide to go OEM.
However I must say the fans I'm using are ball bearing and push a lot of air due to the pitch of the blades. These fans cool the radio down very quickly!!!
Zero noise is brought into the radio from these fans.

Hell yeah. Thanks for sharing the information and links!
Nice job that's thinking outside the box and save money too cheers my good man
I like loud fans i like sounds of them.
Fantastic job
At least you made your own fan kit.
That is a sweet radio
Awesome!
Yes some radios run a little bit warm but that's a great idea I like it
I also made my own fan kit works awesome can't even tell when they kick on leeps the radio super cool 💯
Sweet job! Hope to be back soon. Just waiting on caps to arrive. Another fan hack: Always look for table top old air hockey games at sales. The fans throw a ton of air and fairly quiet. Just picked another one up today at a yard sale.
Nice job. I had to make a shroud for the fan on my AT5555 Plus. ✌✌
10 . 4 bro 👍❤
Another good one... How to "BLOW UP" your unit. LOL Sorry, I just couldn't resist
You real funny guy:)
Sweet!
nice
Way to beat the wait, and I'm betting for a much better price.
I'm not sure what President wants for their kit. I just wanted fans now! Take care.
EDIT..... Looks like 20 bucks per fan. Not bad considering it is a 100% plug and play hookup and has a fan guard. The OEM fan would be better for the non DIY person.
One original president fan 14,90 Euro here in Germany. It is not much money.
That's the exact same thing I did
we should called them fans as wagonmaster wheels.
Nice fan kit can try this with quad5 top gun on heat sinks.
I'm a FAN of 390 !! Thanks for the video.. i guess you did a video on this radio already? does it have SSB? what kind of amps on AM n ASSB?
What size bolts you use 390? 6/32" x 1.5 Length? And does that transiever have a built in thermocouple?
I thought they were 5/64 not sure of the length. I was prepared to go to ACE and get the proper hardware but the screws that came with the fan fit perfectly. Like they are made for this installation.
I looked all over for the size didn’t find in the description of the fan and checked Presidents web page and saw nothing. Sorry
Without safety grill your radio kills you when you touch with your fingers into fans. 😂 Original president fan 14,90 Euro here in Germany.
@@andik859 then don’t stick your fingers in it!
Did you do the CB mod yet? I did mine already it's awesome on there as well as the free band on 27.555 MHz USB.

Thanks. I might have to look into getting one.

I think you would like this rig. It receives like all modern radios, so if your a 2000GTL guy you may have to adapt.

I did detect some white noise but it didn’t seem to bad.
I do like old school stuff better though.

measure the holes on the fans and grab something like this: B07RDNXK2Y not sure if they are 40x40 but at worst you may have to repin it or do some widdlin

Hahaha
