With all the features that it comes with from the factory it’s a great radio for the price. It really gets the signal out/in too with all additional features.
The problem isn’t the radio per se, it’s the increase in QRM from all the additional electronic devices causing spurious emissions in the last two decades. Cell towers, wind turbines, Wi-Fi, gmrs, etc. etc… If you activate the NRC on this radio it does a really good job at knocking most of the noise down on AM, in combination with the NB/ANL/Hi-cut as needed. The NRC works well on SSB as well. Lots of worldwide contacts with this radio already.
Just bought mine online from a Norwegian store. But it isn't the modded one, so I will not be using it for TX'ing atm. Just listening. - But thats fine. I am not that good of a talker anyways *S* 😛 Nice video -tnx for sharing!

Thank you for sharing , it looks like a really nice transceiver , it's just the price more then anything , I've just purchased an Alinco HF Transceiver DX-SR9 boxed in mint condition from Martin Lynch , it is an old radio now but it's as new in operation & condition , the price was £399 , so it's not that much more then the president & the Alinco DX-SR9 is a proper ham radio with a 12 month warranty , so in comparison I would say that in all fairness there's alternatives for the price of the president Washington , that being said the President Washington looks like a beautiful radio & I'm sure there will be a certain amount of people that will purchase this radio to own in their collection , it's just it's unlikely they will be flying off the shelves like the CRT 9900 & all the rest of the run of the mill radios .
It seems to have mixed reactions from people, personally its 40 years to modern for me, but that being said it performs real well and i enjoy using it . Back to a cybernet next week tho ;)
Xiegu G90 is very close in $. It would be very hard to spend that much on an Export and not get the waterfall on the G90. I had the original George, Madison, McKinley, Lincoln and Grant XL. Couldn't find the Adams though. All great radios. So nice there are still companies making new radios.
Hi there. Git my president washington last week I didn't receive the frequency chart with mine trying to find a .pdf download of it any ideas? @MicroChipz Forgotten to ask what do you have the SWR protection set at for your president think I set to 2.4 is that really safe can I go to 2.8 ? I have 1:1 on many band frequencies just some are cutting radio off so wondering about auto tuner unit for mobile.... Cheers..
I havent changed it from default , and yes a mobile tuner is a good idea, i have a battery powered MAT tuner just for that, maybe work 10m on it safely .
I have been in 2 minds about getting one as i have the george 2 what was my 1st modern radio and it has been a great wee radio .I have been watching for the fan kit i seen people have just been making there own
You should at least look at the user manual before posting your professional report it clearly states 12 amps draw. And 80+pep that president claims is clearly misleading .
My reading was based on what my 30a power supply meter showed me , on FM full power its bang on 12 Amp on ssb its peaking above the 16 Amp reading. My video is far from professional , just what i found at the time , sorry it was not to your liking ,

Love mine with the nrc, also got the digimic which sounds nice.
You should try running the hi-cut. Would cut the hiss out. Make it much more pleasant to listen too
Thanks , will give it a try next time :)
Agreed 👍
Thank you for the review. Could you show how the relay function works?
What is the process to convert?
Thanks for the video Graham I could do with a coffee too 😂 Cheers Dave
Thanks for watching .
@@MicroChipz No problem, I've owned mine now for a couple of months, no issues at all with it
That’s a nice radio plenty of features to play with it looks great and from the video it sounds really good too top video as always mate
A bit expensive tho, but yeh it performs well.
I had one in my basket last week and last minute i decided against it, seeing this video has tempted me again. 😂
Its expensive for what it is.

the high s meter reading anoys the hell out of me on all these types of modern radios , i notice you are a EK member , howdy from 108EK888
Thanks for watching fellow EK :)
Excellent view from a hill.
So I'm so stuck between this radio and a Washington.. I'm gonna run a 500 watt linear any recommendations
The am receive on these radios is horrendous. On the flip side though, the sideband receive is tremendous.
Yes the SSB rx is real good :)
i had exactly the same problem in my president lincoln 1 . Excellent SSB but very bad receive in AM.

There's NOTHING wrong with the AM receive at all. It's YOUR AREA and SOLAR ACTIVITY.
Why the set is showing s7 or even s9 when there is nothing to hear....?
Noise floor in my house is terrible
I have the George 2 cos i wasn't too fussed about the higher power. I have a kl703 for that..not bad radios sound nice on air.
Is this radio ultra light weight like the rest of the modern CB Radios ?
Not really it’s a good solid design .

Hi
The freq chart is just a standard cb freq chart , nothing special, and no boots were used ;)

It is an HF Radio

Not too dissimilar to the CRT SS-6900V7 PCB?🤔 I think the CRT or Maas equivalent is better value for money and costs less.
I never had one , maybe I should try :
int it a big BUZ when you open the box mmmmmmmm
Nothing like the smell of a new radio.
Pity about the s9 of phantom signal as with all these new Chinese radios.
I get a high noise floor at home anyway :(
