I have a President Taylor and there is a secret menu to increase or decrease the power. I emailed the factory, but they gave me the standard "4watt and could not be modified" answer. Now how much of an increase I have, I am not sure, may only be a few watts, but the I would think The President Richard would have a secret firmware menu like the Anytone, to change it from a 10 to 11 meter. Thanks for the video.
I always like to learn more. Thanks. I use a Kenwood Set 450s, but many People ask me for modifications President radio's. This whas not easy i think. Again superthanks
I am interested in the new President Washington which is a 10 and 12 meter radio but i can not seem to find any modification to make it a CB radio! I need a modification of the President Washington 11 meter mod Thank you!
This is awsome...if i had this radio and did the conversion, is there an antenna that would work for both 10 and 11 meter bands .i know that it will not be optimal, but would there be an antenna that would atleast somewhat work with both of those bands?..any suggestions or what would u do???..thank you for the video
@@bencoletti4119 Yes it can be done. The 102” whip that most people use is actually tuned to the 10 meter band. This is why people add a 6 inch spring, to tune up to 11 meter. tuned length on 11 meter is 108”. As you noted, it would not be optimal, but it is doable. More serious people use multiple antennas, or add an A/B switch to two antennas for one single radio. With that said, personally I do not feel 10 meter is worth pursuing. The reason this is a 10 meter radio is to classify it as a ham radio so the power can be greater than 5 watts knowing peoples real intention is to tune up, and have a powerful CB radio,,,, thus skirting the law
The president richard I bought came with a resistor soldered between those two points.. should I just leave it, or remove it, and solder in a piece of wire? I'm hoping that doesn't affect wattage. Sorry for the dumb question.
Hi Brett, no dumb questions at all. Did you buy the radio new? Do you get cb channels? A resistor between these 2 points is often installed by the factory to make the conversion easier for the user, they know what we do to make the 11 meter work. These radios often change revisions, I made this video with a very early prototype. I have heard the board has changed several times since. On their other models, removing the resistor is often all that is needed
@Flip2Flower1 thank you for the quick reply! It's a new radio. The place I ordered it from had an option to tune, and align the radio so it will work on cb channels. I'll find out in the morning if it works properly.
I have been waiting on your long term review of this. How did it work out? After you put in the PD 1234 does it keep it in the memory after you power off? Are you able to switch back and forth between 10 & 11 meter
Hi Bill. Yes, this radio has been rocksolid. I have never had to touch it again since doing the modification. There is really no flipping back-and-forth between 10 and 11 per say, when you do the modification, it just adds an additional CB band on the dial. You don’t really have to flip anything if you know what I’m trying to say. You just continue turning the band knob to the band that you want up to and including 11 I hope I did not confuse you, it’s kind of hard to describe, but this is all very simple on the radio. It is as is 11 was already there for you.
My radio lost/ doesn’t have the PD option in the menu. Cut it off and back on and it’s just not there. I have found it before and entered the 1234 but now I can’t find it
Heck ya, I've always ran a 27LTD classic and my buddy has one of these and sounds good so I was thinking about switching. Good video
if you dont get the PD option, then go into the menu and look for RESET, select that and then select AL not BA and then reset then look for PD again
Made my day thanks

Thank you. Waiting for your review of the radio

Thank you !
A big thank you from Edinburgh in Scotland Cheers 👍👍
What's the long ground wire soldered in on the board? Mine doesn't have that.
I’m not sure, they probably eliminated it on later units. I had one of the first releases
Your awesome buddy. I just bought one, and didn’t know shit about radios. Well now I know a little bit. Thanks a ton!!!
Thanks!
Thank you for the info, Its a fine radio.

That's not good, any help people?
Do you get freeband 27 MHz like 27.635?
Yes sir that’s the whole motive of the mod
K174W where in the world are you located?
@@kjwalper southern Illinois
Same here. Alton, Illinois
Do you lose 10m when you convert to 11m?
No, you retain everything
👌 👏 👍
What’s the benefit over a regular cb
Power. Regular cb puts out 4 watts, this does 100 watts
Will this work on UK frequencies with the mod??
I am sorry but I do not know for sure. I would think so though
Как с 5 на 0 выйти?
Horrible Design, Should have been the Clip a Single Wire conversion. Why do you think they did it this way instead????
I have no idea. Probably to pacify the fcc
ok, not so confident in your mod when you don't show the finished product working. You have thrown this video into great doubt.
Well here, I have a simple solution to your great doubt. Don’t do the mod and get your hind end off my channel. Your problem solved 😛
