- Problems starting after parking at operating temperature.
Over the years, Mercedes Benz vehicles with K-Jetronic and KE-Jetronic have repeatedly had problems starting when the engine is warm after standing for more than five minutes. This is caused by the pressure accumulators, once at the fuel pump package and once at the flow divider.
The warm-up regulator in the K-Jetronic is responsible for regulating the fuel supply depending on the engine temperature. It ensures that the engine receives a richer mixture composition at cold start to ensure easier starting and stable idling. As the engine warms up, the mixture becomes leaner to optimise fuel economy and reduce emissions.
The warm-up control in the K-Jetronic normally works by means of bimetallic strips or similar temperature-sensitive elements. When the engine is cold, these elements cause the regulator to increase fuel pressure and thus enrich the mixture. As the temperature rises, the regulator gradually opens and reduces the fuel pressure to dilute the mixture.
It is important to note that the K-Jetronic has been largely replaced in modern vehicles by electronically controlled fuel injection systems, which offer more precise control options. The warm-up controller in the K-Jetronic is therefore a relic of the past and is no longer found in current vehicles.

Stark wie immer
Hi there, can anybody give me some explaination of differences between early big accumulator with 2 threded ports and later with just 1 (I mean those big one, not small from KE-jet). I have struggling with rest fuel pressure in m110 engine early w116 (black iron distributor). Pressure drop from 2,5 bar to 0 but just over an hour. It holds up to around 2.2 about 40-50 minutes and then it started to falling down to 0. I find by checking part number in EPC that somebody change whole fuel pump package for version with accumulator with one port. Could there cause of my problem? I also changed injectors, orings in fuel relief valve in distributor, fuel distributor itself. Also bypassed WUR line for check that it is not causing leak but it isn't. Thanks for advice.
10 minutes is not enough and you must drive the car and then stop!! Because after idling, mine starts after 10 minutes or more
Of course, the wear on each accumulator can be different and therefore the waiting time can vary. On the vehicle in the video, the poor warm start behavior was already noticeable after less than 5 minutes. Thank you for your contribution and for sharing your experiences, best regards
it is fun, repairing this car, just need some common sense, some logical, thinking, very few control units.. Ruining your day
where is the one in the engine bay?
very good explanation, step by step, actually, I could do it myself..
very few tools needed, and a couple of buckets for the fuel, I think I could do it myself
If I had known this before
Super Video 👍👍
