I always thought that since that reverse flash was the only one using the negative speed force it would go away slower then the postive speed force that powers every speedster in the multiverse.
That makes sense either it's fine or Thane has more than enough to complete his goals. Also if you take a percentage of energy from the speed force which is infinite wouldn't that small amount also be infinite?
The speed force is in everyone, they all have a certain amount in them as the speed-force is gone. Therefore they aren't all sharing it currently.
If Flashpoint is a separate universe, it also powers Rival

My mini theory is basically that after the whole universe changing (cause crisis) maybe this time (because the speed force dies) Thawne's Negative Speed Force was connected and infecting only Barry's Future Speed Force he makes and thats why it doesn't affect Thawne's powers, but he still pushes Barry to make his own to prevent his negative speed force from ever being attached or run out of a fuel source.

Alexander Santiago I’m not sure you’re understanding. Before the speed force died the negative speed force would steal energy from it, which is where its power came from. The problem is now that it died, where would the negative speed force get its power? Our (the fandom’s) leading theory is that the negative speed force has a lot of residual energy in it, much like unplugging a phone from a charger and it being at, let’s say, 84%. Because Eobard is the only speedster using the negative speed force he has all of that energy to himself. That is how he can still use his powers.
But actually now that I think about it I have a new theory. In episode 5x20 Cisco stated that the negative speed force is powered by negative tachyons, which steal energy from positive tachyons, which power the speed force. Now, just because the speed force is dead doesn’t mean tachyons don’t exist. While it might not be stealing as much energy because the tachyons are less dense, it can still absorb energy. Therefore, the negative speed force still has a power source. Honestly, I believe in a combination of this theory and the cell phone battery theory.
Negative Speedforce is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be unnatural.

My theory is that Thawne being from the future found out about the death of the speed force and found out Barry creates his own so he makes the negative speed force leech off of the new speed force like the old one as well as leeching of the old one, this probably will get disproven cause Crisis changed trillions of things so who knows

Well if comics are anything to go by barry is the speed force him becoming the flash both made the speed force and it simulatinously always existed through out time and space barry generates the speed force and the speed force is barry's past, present, future So thawne killing nora and stoping barry from becoming the flash weakened it forceing him to reboot it by creating the flash

Also, when Barry recreates the Speed Force, does that also mean that any active speedsters with a Speed Force connection will get their full powers restored and enhanced? That would be cool.
And I always took the Positive and Negative Speed Forces like the Light Side and Dark Side of the Force. Which is kinda true seeing that you need hatred to access the Negative Speed Force.
@Micheal Judon If your following the show, Barry says in, I think it was the last aired episode, that since Eobard created a negative speed force, he wanted to make a positive speed force. Other then that, I think in general it's understood the good speedsters using the speed force, it's assumed it's a 'positive' speed force.

No they still need to film they do it very slowly which is bothersome because it subjects them to delays because they didn't film the whole season months ago
Because if they air the filmed episode early its gonna be a longgg time until the next episode airs because they're're not even sure whats the date to film the remaining episodes safely
I think that barry's speedforce is going to be based off of love because the negative sf is based of hate. (Side note) he was named the paragon of love in the crisis event earlier this year. In season 5 ep 19 (Snow Pack) Nora is able to tap in to the negative speedforce after being told by Eobard what to do. When she is trying to use the speed force she thinks of how much anger she feels because barry left her in the future. The creation of the Negative speed force was also fueled by the hatred that eobard holds towards barry, powerful enough to create a whole new speed force. So if barry was to create a new speed force it would need something powerful, like his love for his family. We have seen iris be able to add a jolt to his speed before so why cant she do that but on a bigger scale. We know that barry created the speed force in the comics. While thats not the case in the cw show I thinks its safe to say that barry has the power to create a speed force.

Ok, before when Eobard,"lost his speed", yes, it was because at that time he "used the Speed Force" (keep in mind CW likes to keep and slightly twist cannon DC comic ideas) then after "Flashpoint" Eobard creates and uses the "Negative Speed Force". Therfore, like in the comics he no longer has the need to use "The Speed Force".
Maybe it’s because in this new post-crisis reality the negative speedforce has different rules then the pre-crisis negative speedforce, Cisco even said physics has changed entirely so it’s possible the negative speedforce did too

Theory: Eobard recreates what made Barry the Flash linking Eobard to the positive speedforce, Eobard travels back to change time and the positive speedforce gets pissed and cuts the connection (as we've seen the speedforce be self-aware of Barry's actions since S1) so Eobard figures out how to make a speedforce of his own (negative speedforce) he has that feed from the positive speedforce until it dies after Crisis. So he then finds a way to keep it thriving without the positive speedforce.

I hate to be the guy who answers questions like "Why did he say that?" with answers like "Because the script said so," but the answer to that is almost assuredly because the writers of these shows are thinking in terms of blocks of episodes, not entire seasons, and certainly not three seasons ahead, when they write.
I think that it works this way:
-Every negative speedforce user will have red lightning and only red lightning.
-Speedforce useres will have the possibility to have multiple lightnings colors, including red lightning and others.
The speed force is blue shifted. You start from red to blue. While the negative speed force is the reverse, it's red shifted.
The thumbnail for this video is especially great
Maybe thawne had more residual energy to use that’s why he had more speed force cause when the flash and kid flash used their speed it maybe went into the negative speed force and since thawne is the only speedster using that force all of it went to him

My theory for the next couple of episodes is Barry will become impatient and bond with the negative speed force temporarily until he makes his own giving us an accurate negative flash

Theory: The more science talk team flash has, the more Joe gains knowledge and does epic science thing to save somebody.
The negative speed force is connected to plot convenience and inconsistency, actually.
When barry creates his new speedforce it'll give him the bright yellow lightning that he had in the pilot when he came back to stop thawne from killing him because if you make the season 6 suit do that vibrating thing it looks almost identical so that would mean that he was supposed to create his own that he generates
I really hope when The Flash makes his own speedforce he gets a lightning colour change.

ALSO! Here's what I think happened!
Since we all know Thawne is a genius and isn't dumb enough to get himself captured, I think he did this on purpose.
I think this is because the negative speedforce needs the regular speedforce to work (like you mentioned) and Thawne will actually help Barry create a new speedforce, making it seem like he really doesn't want to, and at a price.
Long story short, for the 500th time in the show, Thawne is being a manipulative, Genius, Jerk.
Wasn't it because after thawn killed Barry there was no need to really become the reverse flash and if Barry never became the flash how could this lead to the creation of the speed Force
Remember Savitar (future evil Barry) said he created the speed Force
Multiple people across the multiverse on the speed force while Thawne is the only person who draws on the negative speed force. With those conditions, Thawne would, in theory, still have more than enough energy to use the negative speed force.

in the comic after the Original Crisis on Infinite Earth , the Red/ orange hair Wally West unknowingly bottle the Speed Force inside himself.
The Negative Speed Force was most likely reverse engineered from the artificial/renewed Speed Force. If Barry and co could figure out how to do it, then someone from further down the timeline with better tech would be able to do the same.
Honestly don't know why they havent hired u yet to keep track of Barry's speed and all the speed plot points they have just dumped on

the reason reverse flash got stuck in the past after killing Barry's mum was because he changed the future, his negative speed force takes. speed from the speed force Barry will create because as shown in season 6 the original speed force dies thawne was never connected to it he has always been connected to Barry's speed force because he creates it after the original speed force dies. so after Thawne killed Nora he changed the future and the speed force Thawne was connected to didn't work because Barry never created that speed force for Thawne.
What if the new speed force is actually the old speed force. I think that would cause too much logic issues
I was thinking the same thing. Lol like when barry creates his SF, he's actually creating the original SF that exists all throughout time. So the birth of the SF that recently died is actually birthed after it's death by Barry when he creates it. Lol it would make sense, but waaay to many people wouldn't be able to keep up with that nor understand the logic. But it would technically work. Basically the birth of the SF is in the future. But as soon as Barry creates it, it then spans across space and time.

Here's a thought I had, what if the old speed force is still dying, think about it, time doesn't apply in the speed force, so it could still be dying after all this time. If that's the case, then maybe when Barry makes this new one, it just brings the old speed force back from the brink

@@Impuritex but then again, the speed force forms a protective barrier around the user (emphasis on protective). Also keep in mind that the negative speed force has a much more destructive effect on the surroundings as compared to the positive side force (more explosions, much more damaging punches and stuff like that.) At least that's how it is in the comics. So yeah, it is a very viable theory that the speed force could be based on antimatter.

What if the Negative Speedforce feeds off Barry's new Speedforce. Once he creates it, it'll "permeate throughout time" or something like that, so that it always existed. Which is why Thawne lost his powers in season 1. If Barry never connects to the old Speedforce, his new one will never be made.
That is one of the two main theories. One is that he is harnessing the speed force of the future. The other is that the negative speed force is like a hone battery and the speed force is the charger. Even without the charger the negative speed force has a lot of juice and he is the only speedster using it.

Yeah I was somewhat confused at first because I knew that the negative space force feeds off of the speed force like a parasite, so that’s basically it’s source and without it’s source form the speed force, it would cease to exist or be destroyed. Can we just all appreciate the fact that flash this season has been great? The crossover, speed force powers, bloodwork, and even the new mirror master. Its just felt like a better pace by having 2 villains this season. It's felt like more of a cool comic book rather than more of a cw drama.
I feel like the fact that Thawne being the only one drawing on the negative speed force would leave him with way more power. Remember, the speed force powers an infinite number of people across infinite dimensions.
I think this might be a predestination paradox.
In season 1, as mentioned, Thawne changes the timeline so that Barry no longer becomes the Flash. That means that in the far future Thawne isn't inspired to become a speedster and never creates the negative speed force. In this season Barry is already the Flash and is actively working to create an artificial speed force, so in the far future, when Thawne is from, Barry already completed the artificial speed force and inspired younger Thawne to become a speedster. In fact it could be that this entire time the negative speed force has been taking energy from Barry's artificial speed force in the future
Maybe the negative speed force doesn't have it's power siphon anymore, but it's only running on reserves right now and it's gonna run out soon

I like the idea that Thawn is not loosing his speed anywhere as fast as Barry because there are other speedsters- (at the very least, that we know of, Wally).

Well it could mean the negative speed force is eating away at the positive speed force in an attempt to become the superior force. And the fact that the pos speed force is gone then the negative speed force is left and thriving. And the stuck in the past thing can be he either created the negative speed force after he got stuck in the past or he created it in the future meaning it wasnt created when he went into the past meaning yes his powers were gone.
Well that's what mess up back in the flash stopped the big bomb try to destroyed Earth. But when. Future Nora is gone Barry find way to get the speed force back and that's Nora book.

Well the reason why Thawne in season 1 was stranded was because when he killed Barry’s mother Barry never became the Flash in the future. So since Barry never became the flash Thawne never had the idea to make a negative speed force in the first place. But as soon as Thawne created the Flash it gave him a connection albeit very unstable connection to his negative speed force. Since the timeline went from “there is a flash in the future!” To there isn’t a flash in the future!” That would explain why Thawne got his powers back but only in spurts, since the timeline was constantly shifting and changing.
I knew Thawnes plan from season 1 was flawed. Cause when I read Flashpoint: Reverse Flash #1 he tried to stop Barry from getting his powers and as soon as he did he started fading out of existence. So I didn't understand why Thawne as smart as he is didn't realise this in the first place wouldn't just killing Nora Allen be enough.

I think why Nora was erased is because speedsters can only get access to the negative speed force is by having negative thoughts, and because Nora is all happy and okay of getting erased, she doesn't get access to the negative speed force and gets erased. Since Eobard always thinks of negatively(don't blame me if I'm wrong, blame Cecile with her reading minds powers) he always gets access to the negative speed force.
Maybe after the regular speedforce died the negative one that Eoreboard created that was absorbing sf has started working on itself
Good thing this was explained in season 7, about how the speed force wasn't really dead and thawne probably knew that

I think it’s because Nora severed her connection to the negative speed force that she was erased. There was a moment when they wanted her to make the connection again but she refused saying she hated what it did to her.

This makes way more sense after season 8 because it was confirmed in the finale that when thawne created his machine to create the negative speedforce, he didnt actually create the negative speedforce, it was always there; he just tapped into it meaning that the negative speedforce doesnt benifit from the normal speedforce and that it was always there

As the show goes on the timeline was altered many times. So, it is possible that early on Thawne used the positive Speed Force but eventually realised that he cant rely on it anymore and created the Negative Speed Force. It was never stated that the Negative Speed Fore needed the Positive one to survive. Only that it could siphon off the positive Speed Force.

Ok so basically this has nothing to do with that but in the time line where nora is a live and barry dissapered in the crisis technically didnt they have a world restart so how would she know about everthing he did and wouldnt some stuff be wrong because when she travels back the crisis hasnt happened so did the timline where noras from have a reastart also sorry about spelling i type fast
it was probably because that version of crisis that now doesent exist and therefore never happened because the timeline changed at end of season 5 probably went differently than how crisis actually went in our main timeline ( the show).

Personal theory: After Thawne got killed in the season 1 finale, but before he was put in prison in season 5's future, he built the negative speed force. He didn't do it to maintain his powers or anything like that. He did it out of pure, unadulterated spite for Barry Allen, just to prove that he could.
I think Reverse Flash wants the positive speed force to die so he can kill Barry and the team expected for Iris.

Thawne is a paradox so he probably thought that he could get away with it, he can kill the start of his inspiration and still be the reverse flash, but turns out he can’t
One other reason the negative speed force isnt depleting could be thawn is the only one drawing from the negative speed force while the positive speed force has at least 2 people drawing from it
Negative Speed Force Siphons off the Positive Speed force , to stealing speed from the speed force to avoid positive forces

Maybe it’s bc his speed force is from the future, where Barry has already solved his speed force/ or eobart somehow stayed in a different timeline from his original timeline, where in his original timeline Barry never lost his speed. And eobart keeping his timelines negative speed force .

in the nuke episode of season 4 jay said that destroying the speed force would get rid of thawne
That’s why he went to nashes body to power the grief and maintain his speed. Also if thawne is poisoning the speed force, than the other posion and the negative speed force are coexisting, stealing and killing speed together

I think from season 1-4 thawne was using the normal speedforce but then in season 5 since he was in the future; he tapped into the negative speedforce because he knew that the speedforce would always be on barrys side and that the normal speedforce wouldnt let him time travel etc,
One last theory I have is that the negative speed force is still feeding off the positive speed force but it's more like it's feeding off the positive one's dead husk cuz although the speed force is 'dead' it is still technically there
