TAS isn't a bot. Someone went through and inputted every single input for every frame for all of the stars (credits in the desc). Full TASes can take months and years to make.
There's a different reason to them here. When you make the BackwardsLongJump glitch you increase speed the more you press the A button. But you can only press A every second frame, as you have to release the button in order to press it again. And while this happens Mario is moving. So for the frame you release the button, you press start. This means Mario can't move for this frame, then you will be able to press A again as soon as you unpause, for greater speed. I hope it makes sense :D.

People still don't seem to understand TAS means they can freeze time, slow time down frame by frame, or rewind gameplay in order to do things not humanly possible to the absolute pixel perfect millisecond. A complete TAS run is often not humanly possible as a whole, but individual segments sometimes of it are, it's just that no human can reliably get every pixel perfect trick and action one after another to put together a full run.
This is probably a dumb question, but why didn't you do the same 8 Red coins TAS "path" as the one used in the 120 stars video? It seems more efficient in my opinion. I know nothing about how TAS works so sorry if I make an ass of myself.
This even beats Suigi's 16 star world record time. If this video was made from 2014 up to this present day, you would've been at the top world record for the 16 star catagory in this game. I would love to see suigi react to this, because it even beats his time.

that’s because MIPS doesn’t spawn until you get 15 stars, and you HAVE to do the Board Bowsers Sub (16th star) to get to the boss, so it would just waste time to get mips star and you’d end up with 17 stars

Japanese saves time only in the beginning. English is faster than Japanese when it comes to text boxes which makes makes up for the begging making it slightly faster. 1 Key TAS uses Japanese though
@@Otterstone Thanks Another thing I just thought of is how this is branched off of many single star TASes, which were done on the English version, and the movie playbacks probably wouldn't work on a different ROM I've tried using a TAS movie with a different ROM before, doesn't work even though it was an SM64 romhack (still with the same levels and everything, just different star placement)
if you got 16 stars, then used a side BLJ to pass the 30 star door and DDD, like in the 0 star run, then finished the run as normal, would that count as a 16 star run? and if it counted, would it be faster?
