Hi Phil. A nicely finished model. Great work. I am a miniature war gamer rather than a model builder and the adage in war gaming is faces and bases, if the face looks good and the base looks good the rest are not as important.

A very nice finish of the Flying Sub! The base with the water effects came out great, and the lighting came out great except for the floor, but that is really minor!

THAT is awesome! I love your philosophy of going with the flow and seeing what happens and if it doesn’t work you chuck it, don’t give up, and try again! It’s inspiring to be sure!

Excellent work on the base and the kit.The water really looks alive and sets off fs-1 on her flight. I am glad to hear that you came thru the unusual weather ok, and that you also avoided any unpleasantness that could have come from the momentary switch. And much like an episode of voyage and the Seaview crew you were able to finish your mission !👍👍

Great job Phil! I do agree the floor light mat is a great disappointment! For the price that mat should have had a better glow...and more additional lights with blinkies!!! Otherwise great work!

Hi Phil. That base is absolutely amazing! 👏❤️ I have to admit that I had my doubts when you started it but the end result is just beautiful. In fact you have not so much made a base for the model as made a model for your base! Plaque is absolutely right to be oversized - Irwin Allen productions were always over the top 😆 I guess that the lighting kit could be slightly excused due to its age but I think that the electroflourescent floor panel might be faulty because they are normally brighter than that. Don't worry about the forced delay for the video - I am sure that we are all just relieved to see that you made it through the mayhem in one piece. You and Lou both seem to be in the difficult position of running out of space to display your models - and this is after Lou built an extension just to house his collection! 😆 Looking forward to the next video - whenever you manage to do it 👍😁

Maybe use some colored silicone to.simulate water beeding and run across the top, and dripping/running off the bottom.

The biggest thing I object to about the base is that the "water" doesn't sit flush with the base. Don't like the visible edge. The ocean texture is too coarse-- but the energy is there, so never mine me. You might've tried sculpting some water splash and trails that would further disguise the stand.
The EL junk is a heartbreaker-- it seems like such a great idea. And then, it sucks. I wonder if the more recent material works better, it is worth seeking new material. Alas, those gigantic light panels that are those newfangled COB LEDs are all warm, very. They need to make several light temperatures available, durn it. But... next time, there's this side-firing LED strip I saw--
The sub looks good, the design is still wonderful enough to overcome a bad execution, and yours is rather good! So, win/win.

Saw a behind the scenes of Disney 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea recently. Nautilus' reactor was a bunch of salad bowls with colored lights behind them. No one in the public knew what a reactor looked like so that was how they made it. Anderson's designers straight up ripped off 20k Leagues. Fun parallel. And by way of trolling... Why would you put the mass of a reactor on one side of the center of a vehicle that must be balanced to swim or fly? That sucker must have had a mighty wickid list to starboard! :) OK, maybe the flight engines and environment stuff was port side and matched the weight of the reactor... Yeah, way to deep... (Pun?)

I'm the guy who loves Star Trek but he loves Enterprise and her younger siblings more. How would that actually work? a constant theme.

If it isn’t dry fitting correctly something is wrong. Is anything obstructing the points of contact with the locator pins? Are the locator pins clean of paint? Is the window seated correctly? Are the rear engines seated correctly? There is almost zero room for error if these touch points are off.
