    Another great video, thanks for sharing Phil. I built the Aurora kit back in the 70's

    Phil, yet another fun build. The models you build are all the models I wish I had time for. I can live vicariously through your builds. You guys build awesome models in weeks, it takes me 6 months on average. Maybe when I retire. Keep em coming, Sir!

    amazing just how much the ship resembles the "Flying Sub" vessel from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea", esp the cockpit section!

    Going to look amazing I am sure love the size I think the corridor would look good fitted so you can have some light to side of the ship as well and a figure coming out of the door

    I realized this is a month old, however I wanted to pass along that for most clear resin 3d prints will go clearer if you already a gloss clear coat over it. If you still have one part that is clear, you should try it and see how clear it gets. I'm enjoying your videos, keep up the good work.

    First thing, I saw the engine intakes in front of you & said Holy crap! That's a big one!..... I am jealous. I plan to light my Polar Lights kit. But yours, wowie kazowie. I would surely light that one. Good thing with the 1/64 scale is diorama work as it appeared on the ground on episodes.

    Here you go again, Phil! The masochist's modelling channel! You are making a good job of it but boy oh boy do you make things difficult for yourself. After about three years of on and off frustration I finally finished my PLA printed 2ft Blake's 7 Liberator and vowed never to do another PLA kit. So much filler primer and sanding 😮. Just a word of warning about your plan to use "breathing" LED's - the pulsing will drift over time due to temperature and differences in manufacturing so do not expect them to stay synchronised for long. If you want both sides of your model to pulse together the only solution is a lighting controller board. Good luck with the rest of the build 👍

    Of all of the ships from Irwin Allen's series, the Spindrift has always been my favourite, followed closely by the Seaview and Flying Sub. Those were the days. I was born in 1983, so I've only ever seen the each of the series in repeats, but I've loved them since the day I saw them.

    Coming from someone that does 3D printing, those "clear" parts just need some treatment and they'll be clear as glass. Glad I found your channel though! And I keep looking at Randy Cooper's models, but I really wish they came in standard scales, lmao. Tips for sanding PLA is to do it as wet as possible, the melting point of PLA is incredibly low and gets really nasty really fast. You can also smooth it with MEK, but that's a whole.. Affair, and I don't recommend it.

    Love the size of this kit, but I would have experimented with trying to lay a few sheets of light weight glass cloth over the outer shell parts, the resin once cured would provide a much smoother base to prime over.

    The bodywork finish you have achieved on the hull is truly wonderous, apart from the spray filler/primer - what filler/putty is your weapon of choice?

    • @sprueVerse
      @sprueVerse  9 місяців тому +1

      On this I used epoxy putty then bondo then finish glazing putty.

    I’ve tried printing in the clear resin and not had it come out with that amount of cloudiness. Is this from the size of the print or how it was handled afterwards?

    • @sprueVerse

    Those visible lines are normally the sign of a low poly model. Rather you than me, this kit looks like way too much work.
