I agree that it takes a special curcumstance to lead to the necessity of a co2 scrubber, however, in my situation without the scrubber I would barely be able to peak 7.6 with a fuge. Adding the scrubber gets me to 8.3+ Another good point is that there are issues with the recurculating scrubbers, not only the potential for the skimmer overflowing, think about all the fumes that you smell when dumping your cup, you are trapping that and injecting it back into the water. You bring up a good point, and the reason why i will not be pulling air from outside, that and I dont want to drill through my brick home. The point for garlic was always that it gets the fish to eat, become stronger, and fight off the disease. The rest of the conversation was hype. Imagine if you are ill and you dont eat or drink anything, will you get better?
Been running nano tanks for over a decade. I'm embarrassed to admit, but for like the first three years I was pouring in newly mixed saltwater into my tank with large measuring cups. One day it just dawned on me: why the hell aren't I attaching a tube to the maxijet I'm using for mixing my water to pump the new water right into the tank?!? Good grief, it's so much easier.
Don’t forget about the black reef sand. It’s magnetic and it sucks because it sticks to your magnet for cleaning the glass and scratch the glass and also your power has when they fall down gets all inside of the Ecotech MPs.
On the other top of Phett, I like having a system so I can do other water changes and it stops the float from adding freshwater during the process of the other top off. Mine is worked flawlessly for years, but I also have a float valve on the intake for the auto top off when it comes into the tank and that just ensures that if it does ever stick or there’s a problem, it will stop at the float.
I ran my protein, skimmer air intake outside and also put a chamber pretty massive about 4 inches in diameter by 26 inches tall full of buffer media. It’s been running for almost 6 months and it keeps a pH about 8.2.
I drill a bunch of holes in the sides of specimen cups/containers and keep extra bubble tips or loose mushroom corals in there hanging in my tank as a way to keep loose frags or anemones contained until I sell them or trade them for store credit at my LFS.
I gotta get the routine of cleaning the skimmer I’m only 3.5mo in so it’s probably about sue to be cleaned soon I jus don’t wanna freakin do it bc it’s a complete pain in the a** bc it’s a hob unit so I’ll have to completely remove it and tear it apart to clean it but if I want the pump to last it’s a must
Go to a seafood market and get some fish roe (eggs) leave them in the sack or membrane and place them in the tank periodically the fish will pick or graze on them. There is not a fish out there that would not eat another fishes eggs if given the opportunity. If it is a fish that feeds on Plankton in the water column, tear open the sack and remove some of the roe,put it in about a cup of aquarium water and mix it up, don't smash the eggs..Then just slowly pour the mix in front of the power heads discharge...you can find different size eggs for different organisms.

I don’t test ph, I should. I use a refugium and a skimmer though. And my tanks on the same wall that my sliding door to my backyard is on. That gets opened frequently, so I don’t think it’s under 8 honestly. I highly doubt it, it’s not like there’s 6 people and 3 dogs downstairs watching tv and talking Edit: squidgy vacuum seems annoying idk. I use a microfiber cloth and in a few seconds it’s super clean. If the glass is wet make sure I dry it well then I use the microfiber cloth
I wholeheartedly disagree about the CO2 scrubber take. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment and my Reefer 170 sees super large jumps from 7.8-7.9 up to 8.3-8.4. The media lasts a good month and it’s done wonders for my tank in terms of growth. I can tell when it starts to go bad because the average ph starts to trickle down and replacing it always spikes it right back up. You can see the trend lines in my apex and it’s staggering

I didn't know a skimmer venturi needed cleaning! Shows what I know...
Anyone ever thought of putting hand warmers in a ziplock bag to help heat the tank in a power outage? Wonder if that would work
The ATO tips and micropippete tips are both stellar, thank you.
I also hope to remember the degassing tip, if I ever get a Ca reactor.

I love wash bottles for rinsing my Hanna checker cuvettes

Tips on getting fincky fish to eat would be awesome...

@@dannyalvens5418 Thank you! I will absolutely be using that in the future
I love gluing corals to magnets. Especially frag disks with zoas of palys that I can stick to my overflow box for easy growing and removal.
magnets die and rot and nuke tanks. fact
Wet skimming water changes! Been doing that off and on for years. I always saw it as a water change but with removing reef nutrient concentrate.

Maybe youtube is slow today? We see you!
@@ReefTherapy Thanks for the reply! I commented on a couple of videos in the past and they disappeared under those videos. Thanks, Jake!
Now I realize that we had this video in 2 channels.
