I started to listen to Reef Therapy when I was making plans to reboot my 25 yr tank. I became so isolated with my “old school” ways that I didn’t know about all the NEW stuff that was out there. I stumbled upon Jake Adams and his famous Nano tank series episode. I loved listening to his voice. I learned a LOT following his episodes. Then I started to watch Reef Therapy. It could not be a better named podcast. He & Mark made my days so calming and relaxing while I learned so much.
I always took mind on how Jake would often keep the talk “on track” when it started to wander and bring it back on topic. That made him a good podcaster.
I agree with Windsor that Jake (and Mark) made it interesting. Before you knew it an hour passed and you wanted more. He didn’t talk above your knowledge. He talked TO you and with you no matter what level refer you are. I loved that.
I never met Jake beyond my tv screen or phone, but I miss him. I still rewatch old early episodes. He loved passing knowledge, he loved his corals, his family, his friends. To me (a nobody) he was trustworthy and a real person.
Many years ago someone told me to always look for “the helpers” Jake Adams was just that. He wasn’t doing this for himself, he did it for others. That alone is something I hope we all learned and pay it forward. 🙂🪸

Another great episode. Too bad Mark didn't make it, but people all grieve differently. We'll welcome him back when he is ready. An emotional episode, but still great to see everyone come together to keep Jake's legacy alive and well. Congrats of the 100th episode and I look forward to many more.

That's what separated Jake from the other 99.9% of Reefers. He never caved to endless hurdles that forces retreat or surrender in this hobby.

I'm still very emotional and upset.
Thanks for sharing your love for Jake!
Keep strong! All the best to all of you!
And yes... "live the life you want to live!"

Raj said Jake was FULLY PASSIONATE, oh my how inspiring that passion was! Jake had endless curiosity and he was brilliant, all of those things together made him an outstanding teacher, a rare and unforgettable person. We all get to continue to learn from him through his videos and wealth of brilliant writings. I have to say though, I still feel F-ing pissed at the loss, life is not fair! THANK YOU Reef Builders family for doing such a great job pushing on!!

His passion was infectious. It is infectious. When he was excited about something, it's hard not to get equally as excited. Finding that excitement in the mundane; that was his jam!

This was just great. Even though I never got to meet Jake, he was a huge mentor to me and when he passed away it was difficult to come back and keep watching reef builders. You guys together are doing great at reigniting the passion and I’ve really enjoyed the content. I definitely miss the amount of studio vlogs though with all the amazing coral that Jake was so passionate about.

Reefbuilders and Reef Therapy were so influential in my reefing journey. It started for me in 2019 just before the pandemic. I'm not sure I would have become so obsessed with the hobby if it wasn't for Jake and how passionately he shared his love for all things reef. His legacy will surely live on forever in everyone he touched.

I learned a lot listening to this podcast and from Jake and mark. I def can agree when someone mentioned Jake being their mentor without ever meeting him. He made a great impact on the hobby
