I was thinking, maybe they should just release the movie next year for the franchise’s 60th anniversary.
For me the best bond of the lot, the story line, casting, Lazenby injected new energy and vulnerability to the role. The style and cinematography of the late 60s along with the best bond theme.
Cannot understand why this film gets panned ,he was handsome ,she was the most beautiful bond girl ever, fantastic music ,telly savalas and the scene when she dies is heartbreaking,it has the lot .
The first and only film where George Lazenby portray the sophisticated and renowned secret agent in his career. I still trying to imagine how Sean Connery would have been in this film.

Arguably the most realistic Bond movie of the whole franchise (Casino Royale being it's only challenge). Lazenby is both convincing and refreshing with the stunning and talented Diana Rigg setting the bar on Bond girls. Last but by no means least is John Barry's classic instrumental opening Bond theme coupled with Louis Armstrong's 'We have all the time in the world.' Put the above all together, and you have the answer that every Bond fan has been asking for 60 years.
Two of the best actors in a James Bond film. Shame George Lazenby didn't make more Bond movies, and Diana Rigg was a brilliant brilliant actress and will be sadly missed.
The film has the right actors to the other roles (better for Blofeld is Yul Brynner), but not in Bond. The car in this opening scene is in the parking lot of Estalagem Muchaxo hotel and restaurant before driving on Guincho Beach. We stayed at Muchaxo several times and it has delicious fresh food, great ocean views, and friendly service. What fun it would have been to be there while this scene was filled there!
One of the best fight scenes from all Bond films.😎 I think Her Majesty's Secret Service is one of the better films in the series. Unforgettable Telly Savalas and George Lazenby.😍
And to think that Lazenby received from Eon, in 1969, the equivalent of USD 100,000 for the entire making of this film ( ≈ 2023 USD $838,662.13) ... chicken's feed when compared to Connery or present-day "Bonds"... his financial advisor must bear the blame for not having Lazenby sign up for the following movies of the Bond franchise, suggesting that he should say "I make better money doing commercials."
This never happened to the other fella comment was a big mistake to put in this movie. George Zazenby needed to perform his own identity as James Bond. It made the audience want the other fella (Sean Connery) back.
Mr. Lazenby didn’t want to be known only as Bond, as an “actor with a single role“ like Bela Lugosi’s Dracula. I understand his opinions about it, but it would be very nice to see Mr. Lazenby as Bond in more films
Apparently his agent didn’t think Bond films would last into the 1970s and that it wasn’t worth signing a contract for more films as a result. How wrong he was!!
The beginning of one of the greatest - and definitely most unfairly maligned - of the Bond films. It has a dreamlike, haunting atmosphere about it, such a unique scene for the series.
This movie and Casino Royale are probably the only two that are loyal to the books. That's why their both considered to be in the top few best Bond movie's. OHMSS is my favourite and Lazenby as a 29 year old novice actor had fantastic screen presence and carried this movie.
I’m not sure how I feel about the ‘this never happened to the other fella’ line. When I first saw this film about thirty years ago I thought it was a bit cheesy but I now see the charm coming through as he is referring to Sean Connery.
Seriously underrated bond movie .... fantastic fight scenes, music, plot...my number three favourite bond movie....its why my thoughts are the next bond should be a relatively unknown actor...
We were having a conversation in my editing class yesterday about speed ramping and I pointed out this was an example where it didn't work, partially because of the harsh cuts and short takes (300 is a much better example of how to use speed ramps). However, despite this scene's disorienting harsh cuts, short takes, jumping around, and speed ramps, this is hands down the best shot Bond movie (Also, the best overall in my opinion). The rest of the movie is beautiful and brings the story and locations to life perfectly. The ski chase is one of the most cinematically rewarding action sequences out there.
In my mind, this beach fight is cut amazingly!! I think it seems really modern/progressive for its time. Can you please elaborate more on why you think it doesnt work?
Great movie. Earl Cameron was 52 years old when he filmed this scene getting beaten up by 007, and still lived long enough to appear in the movie...INCEPTION.
Yeah, the codename fan theory is dubunked. There has been so many movies after this that implies/mentions this is the same James Bond. Even the movie after this one shows Bond (Roger Moore) in the cementery giving flowers to his dead wife.
Stephen McNiff Yes I know it isn’t a code name. It could be just a reference to the previous 007 before Bond. Also, I think it was intended to be a slight wink and nod to Connery’s Bond.
Stephen McNiff Also, Skyfall. Bond’s dad Andrew Bond on the grave stone as well as being mentioned in the film and his initials on his hunting rifle that Bond uses.
I've watched this PTS many times over the years and this version is particularly fantastic in terms of the sound. Every punch that Lazenby/Bond lands is like BluRay on steroids. Probably the closest representation of what it sounded like in the theater in 1969....if not better. The violence of the scene and also Lazenby's scene stealing fighting ability contribute to possibly the best pre-title sequence in the franchise. Thunderball also has an excellent PTS as well, and The Living Daylights. But this PTS in OHMSS is absolutely pure James Bond, and should only be viewed on high volume.
This is the greatest James Bond Film with its great action throughout . Love ❤️ story and tragic happenings. Wonderful. It didn’t have a lot of gadgets. It was just a great movie and story
This is the best Bond film, He's portrayal of Bond is the most accurate to the book. This was a statement not a question so requires no response. Its a matter of opinion and yours is of no importance.
@007 CM Finally an honest, non biased opinion about Lazenby's portrayal of Bond. Yes, Connery could have played Bond again in OHMSS....and possibly offering up a great performance. But it was Cubby and Harry who offered George a six picture deal. They damn well knew that they had their Bond.
A year later after playing Bond he was in the low budget film Universal Solider and chose to do that film rather then return as James Bond in Diamonds Are Forever
Tracy is like two different people in this movie. In the first half, she acts like a spoiled, petulant child, and cruel to boot. In the second part of the film, she is brave, heroic, and kind.
I was surprisingly impressed by George Lazenby in this film. Considering he made the move from a "model" to the major screen, he was quite believable as 007. Too bad his agent talked him out of a long term contract as Bond --- telling him he would be "typecast" and not considered for other acting roles ... suspect it cost him millions. This iconic opening scene and the OHMSS theme were both excellent.

@Ryan Irwin- Diehl, I don’t know anymore. I have been wrong every time. I did a Bond marathon last year, starting in February when the movie was supposed to come out in April, and then it was pushed back. Last week, was a year since I finished my Bond marathon, and sadly we lost Sean Connery during that time, and still no movie has been released. I was thinking, maybe they should just release the movie next year for the franchise’s 60th anniversary.
Lazenby Rules as the first Most Realistic Kick Arse Bond Before Dalton and Craig !
Pity his punches visibly land six inches from their target. I’ve seen more realistic fighting in Thunderbirds.
@@IrishScribbler Watch the whole movie maybe.
@@IrishScribbler Tracy was the Love story like Vesper in Casino Royale !
One of the best bond movies, easily top 3
Diana Rigg 20 July 1938 - 10 September 2020 Goodbye. We don't have all the time in the world.
I really enjoyed this movie. That line was awesome! Thanks for the clip. To think Bond gets married was Epic too.
Lazenby was a good fighter in real life and that's why these fight scenes are so convincing!
Diana was truly beautiful ❤
The first and only film where George Lazenby portray the sophisticated and renowned secret agent in his career. I still trying to imagine how Sean Connery would have been in this film.
Not as good in my opinion.
Well, there was that time he (sort of) played him in a Man from UNCLE TV movie.
It was too much of a stretch for fans to see him instead of Connery.
@@trueblue6201 Connery too abusive, sociopathic to pull this off. He would really have to stretch his acting chops. In all his great roles, did anyone see Connery cry? He was always the bullfighter
George is so physical, it's a pleasure to watch him kick ass
I watch OHMSS every Christmas, my favourite Bond movie. Watched No Time to Die on Thursday, good film and a fitting end to Daniel's Bond story arc.
Yes! OHMSS is a Christmas movie
Lazenby kicked ass harder than Connery did. I’ll always be a defender of this man as bond.
From my first time seeing this at Christmas 1969, I knew I was in for a great experience! I haven’t changed my mind since then, that this is the best James Bond film, starring the best Bond, George Lazenby. (The crap that immediately followed only reinforced my opinion.) Peter Hunt knew what he was doing! What a grand and glorious opening to a spectacular film!
You are right, Lazenby is the best Bond by a long way, his awkwardness and acting inexperience only adds to the film's charm for me.
@@22Clearwater
Bond here is not relatively young, vulnerable and infinite, but a mature man with experience, like the actors in the other roles. Connery in ''You Only Live Twice'' is the character of Bond here. An agent tired from his job, finds happiness in love and marriage. With Connery would have other romance, Bond and Tracy would be like him and Bardot in ''Shalako''. After Connery in this film, I believe to Stanley Βacker.

Just plain wrong
Arguably the most realistic Bond movie of the whole franchise (Casino Royale being it's only challenge). Lazenby is both convincing and refreshing with the stunning and talented Diana Rigg setting the bar on Bond girls. Last but by no means least is John Barry's classic instrumental opening Bond theme coupled with Louis Armstrong's 'We have all the time in the world.' Put the above all together, and you have the answer that every Bond fan has been asking for 60 years.
He should’ve done more movies he was so good
Blame his agent for that. He was the one who told him spy movies are a no go.
Connery was Bond until the early 70s and Moore, especially from ''The Spy Who Loved Me'', was the right man at the right time (except the last film).

I never noticed but this is a gorgeous looking movie.
Even Sean Connery credited Lazenby as doing a good job in this film and many 007 fans were disappointed he only did one film for the franchise.
My favorite movie of all james bond movies and I think Geaor ge Lazeby and Diana Rigg are the best partner in james bond movies. With love from Turkey.
When i first saw this movie, i thought i was gonna get bored and not finish it. I did and it was amazing. Lazenby as bond is such a badass and is even more of a lady killer especially with Tracy. This movie is in my top 10 bond films out of the 25 bond films
One of the best opening scenes for a bond film, Lazenby was brilliant, and should have done more.
Love the 4th wall break always
Lazenby nailed Bond. Simple as that.
I love how he says "my Names Bond, James Bond".
God, Lazenby’s physicality was incredible for a first time actor. He’s one of the actors that comes to mind when I think of Bond.
I love the references of that scene in For Your Eyes Only.
I especially enjoyed the tires screeching on the sand!
One of the best fight scenes from all Bond films.😎 I think Her Majesty's Secret Service is one of the better films in the series. Unforgettable Telly Savalas and George Lazenby.😍
The fight scene in The Spy Who Loved Me is better than this.
this is one of the best bond fights
Best intro to a Bond movie
The right would be Lazenby say ''This never happened to the other movies''.
The youngest Bond and the tallest Bond.

"Good morning. My name's Bond, James Bond."
Doesnt looklike it was his first movie.... but it is his first movie. Amazing
Diana rigg is up there with grace kelly ,her simplistic beauty is bewitching, and lazenby is what every man wants to look like and be like.
What a fight scene! One of the best I've seen in any film
The beginning of one of the greatest - and definitely most unfairly maligned - of the Bond films. It has a dreamlike, haunting atmosphere about it, such a unique scene for the series.
This movie was brilliant, this intro was a masterpiece, Lazenby should have done a few more Bond movies as a young James Bond.
+ he expected bond franchise would be on the wane in 70s.

This movie and Casino Royale are probably the only two that are loyal to the books. That's why their both considered to be in the top few best Bond movie's. OHMSS is my favourite and Lazenby as a 29 year old novice actor had fantastic screen presence and carried this movie.
I'm happy that GL is getting some more love by Bond fans. OHMSS is looking more and more like a great film.
I’m not sure how I feel about the ‘this never happened to the other fella’ line. When I first saw this film about thirty years ago I thought it was a bit cheesy but I now see the charm coming through as he is referring to Sean Connery.
This is the best James Bond ever!!!!!!!
I love the sound of the tarmac as he breaks on sands.
Seriously underrated bond movie .... fantastic fight scenes, music, plot...my number three favourite bond movie....its why my thoughts are the next bond should be a relatively unknown actor...
Blame MGM as they poorly promoted it for years!
The most favourite Bond's fight i like in the Bond series in 60-80s
@@jupphainkas3070 It does seem ahead of its time but it also dances right up to the edge of being choppy. I like it though, mostly.
Great movie. Earl Cameron was 52 years old when he filmed this scene getting beaten up by 007, and still lived long enough to appear in the movie...INCEPTION.
Love that line.
Thank you for the video. Have a great day.
Great opening scene!
" #This never happened to the other fella " in reference to Sean Connery #EPIC LINE
The Michael Carter Show Yes. Or a reference to the previous 007.
Maybe he was talking about Shaft? LOL
I know, I know. This came out before 1971.
Notice that "No Time to Die" wanted to be the Craig OHMSS entry with all the references, music and reuse of the 1969 Aston
I truly loved this movie ; and Lazenbi as Bond, he s my second favorite. I truly wished we could have seen more of him. Fine call him 008
I've watched this PTS many times over the years and this version is particularly fantastic in terms of the sound.
Not to mention the tire squeeking sound *ON SAND* . Brilliant work.

This is the best Bond film, He's portrayal of Bond is the most accurate to the book. This was a statement not a question so requires no response.
Its a matter of opinion and yours is of no importance.
Magnificent photography
I think George Lazenby was better at handling fight sequences.
He was physically tough, no doubt.
He actually broke a stuntman‘s nose. Unpurposefully of course but it was for this reason that he was cast!
Lazenby has a black belt
@@davider6884 the guy is a black belt, so no wonder

In 1969 Lazenby was James Bond. 10 years later he was a burglar on...BJ And The Bear.
Seems about right - lol
A year later after playing Bond he was in the low budget film Universal Solider and chose to do that film rather then return as James Bond in Diamonds Are Forever
When he said no to the Bond producers they blacklisted him. Very powerful people Broccoli and Saltzman.

Tracy is like two different people in this movie. In the first half, she acts like a spoiled, petulant child, and cruel to boot. In the second part of the film, she is brave, heroic, and kind.
I like this opening scene
One of the best opening scenes ever my favourite bond film.Thunderball and best Bond Connery, especially the opening scene.
has one of the best, or beatyfullest bond songs too imo ua-cam.com/video/RktwEMS0u28/v-deo.html
