Kronsteen. Played by Vladek Sheybal, a Polish actor who twice escaped from Nazi concentration camps and who later emigrated to England in 1959. This is probably the coolest that SPECTRE has ever been to me, a brilliantly voiced and mysterious Blofeld, two charismatic and interesting lackeys, and none of the cartoonish trapping we'd get later (though I do enjoy that stuff.) It's kind of weird to have the villains outline their entire plan long before the hero will find it out, but it's pretty satisfying to see them do it, and emphasises how intelligent and calculating the organisation is.

The parallel's where they are talking about Bond's death being painful and humiliating, and Blofeld feeding his cat the fish we just saw fighting for it's life, is surprisingly chilling. They don't make symbolism like that anymore.
This does a nice subtle job of selling Kronsteen's brilliance. He's summoned back to HQ during the middle of a chess championship, so he wraps it up by WINNING the game (while the scene leads you to believe he's deliberately losing to get the game over with)
I think that in many such matches, the opponents enjoy toying with each other and drawing it out. Here, the summons just prompted Kronsteen to get it over with.
I really love this scene in the books too, because it shows Kronsteen's thoughts behind his "Wizard of Ice" persona. After receiving the secret orders, he decides to finish the game first. He is terrified of potential punishment for disobedience, yet can't bring himself to abandon the championship due to his pride. Odd as it may seem, considering all the great characters from which to choose, Kronsteen was my favourite Bond villain. Goldfinger, Zorin, and Silva are also in my top tier.
I watched the Japanese dub on blu ray and Kronsteen's Japanese dubber, Aruno Tahara, is also Risho in YuYu Hakusho. Grant's Japanese voice, Jin Yamanoi, is also Rolento in Street Fighter Alpha 2. @@m64h Blofeld is their boss but he didn't take any actions like in YOLT, DAF & OHMSS, so Rosa Klebb is the main villain in this movie
One of my favorite Bond scenes
So that’s who Mindy Sterling’s German character from the Austin Powers Trilogy was a parody of! And when I heard them refer to other members of SPECTRE as Number 1 and Number 5 I instantly thought of Number 2 from the Austin Powers Trilogy.
who does number 2 work for?
@@nicknewman7848 I understood that reference. LOL.
Ending a chess match with moves, early because you have to go BOSS
I love this scene.
Dude was a proper villain: White cat and black suit. You really have to be a mad, mad man.
So, we’re just gonna overlook the fact that he left all those people hangin’ who tried to shake his hand??? 😂😂😂. The best 007 movie to this day IMO!!
4:51 I love that Kronsteen almost put the pen in his mouth, since he's probably accustomed to always having a cigar(ette) to chew on in intellectual encounters like the chess game immediately beforehand.
Great movie
Odd as it may seem, considering all the great characters from which to choose, Kronsteen was my favourite Bond villain. Goldfinger, Zorin, and Silva are also in my top tier.
He COULDN'T BELIEVE it when Blofeld ordered his death near the end!!!
@@henrykujawa4427 I HATED it!! SO interesting......so much potential. I'm afraid I would have eliminated Klebb if someone had to serve as an example.
I love Kronsteen too, very slick and intriguing
What about Jaws? Teehee? Sanchez? 006?
the voice is so good 🙀
Kronsteen's plan cannot fail! this must be the end for Bond
instead, Kronsteen got Das Boot.
I watched the Japanese dub on blu ray and Kronsteen's Japanese dubber, Aruno Tahara, is also Risho in YuYu Hakusho.
Grant's Japanese voice, Jin Yamanoi, is also Rolento in Street Fighter Alpha 2.
Somebody's gotta do a Japanese dub James Bond compilation and throw in other roles the Japanese dubbers also did.
Do you have any outtakes in the vault you could publish?
Mass walk outs 😎 💪
Ernst Stavro Blofeld From James Bond 007 🕵️♂️🕵️

@P Largo was also Spectre Number 2
@P the play on name is also based on Pussy Galore
For any Bond fans, FRWL is on Roku for free on a streaming channel called "Movieland" they also have Dr. No, and Diamonds Are Forever. You don't have to sign up or anything, just point and click. Who knows how long they'll be there, but they'll all free now.
So when they were filming From Russia with Love and Thunderball, had they always intended to reveal Blofeld's face later in the series? If so, was Anthony Dawson originally gonna continue as Blofeld (with Eric Pohlmann as the voice) despite having already portrayed Professor Dent in Dr. No? Or was Blofeld always gonna be recast to another actor for the reveal in You Only Live Twice?
This movie super background music 🎶 🎵 👌
Pedro Armendariz was regarded as the “Clark Gable of Mexico”.
3:19 Wait! °looking closer° THE SEAT ISN'T HIGH ENOUGH, WE CAN SEE BLOFELD HAIRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
